Just visited for my first time in a few years, and the food overall fell a little flat compared to what I remembered. We arrived towards the end of happy hour, and the $9 cocktails were a great deal! I had a Chai Old Fashioned which I felt was lacking in spice, just tasted like a regular old fashioned. The lentil dumpling chaat on the happy hour menu was delicious, my favorite thing we tried. For mains we got the butter chicken and saag paneer, and neither was quite as flavorful as I remembered. The service was great, we sat outside on the patio and had no wait for a table on a Saturday night. The restaurant is in a quiet, fancy shopping center off Kirby, with plenty of garage parking and a peaceful outdoor patio. I know they are popular for their breakfast and bakery, so i'll be back some time to try those!

Love Pondicheri for so many reasons! My first visit was during lunch with my cool coworkers. Second visit was with my boyfriend (now husband), a d our recent visits were most memorable after a visit to milk + honey and during Diwali! Pondicheri offers happy hour drink and food specials, including 25% off wine. We tried bone marrow (WOW) and the Diwali thali which was amazing! Great service by Madison & the bartender!

Looking for an upscale Indian restaurant, come here! Rezys needed, but the flavoring for this food is a bit different than traditional Indian food. I died for the parli g ice cream sandwich!!! If i could get that over and over I would Garage parking or valet Separate gender bathrooms Outside seating as well.

I went with my friend here for HRW. The food was not bad. I had the samosa, butter chicken, and the pistachio ice cream. Samosa was filling. Butter chicken was unique with different blend of spices. The pistachio ice cream was alright, it served as a refreshing end to the meal. Service was prompt. There's a complimentary garage nearby.

This spot is supper cute and can accommodate groups. We had 6 in our party and ordered appetizers and main course meals. I don't remember all of the apps but I enjoyed all of them especially the lentil balls (not actual name). For my main course I had the Bengali fish with naan, eh chef's kiss! My mouth is watering just thinking about the overload of spices, flavors and just plain goodness. I would return for that dish alone. My drink was the golden soda. Make sure you stir because at first mine tasted like medicine but once I gave it a good turn around it started to taste okay. It was not to my tastebuds liking so I ordered lemonade after. The service was superb! The server confirmed my entree choice as her favorite and I now know why. Definitely another restaurant added to my Houston tasty foods list! See you next time!

Paneer Bonda were soooo good. Love the way they do the chutney and pomegranate. Paneer texture light and fluffy too. Rajma chaat is a must. Carrot parathas too. Never a bore to dine here

I'm not sure what it is about this place, but I've been here about four times over the years, and it just never quite hits the mark for me. It's located in a very upscale shopping area, and the restaurant itself is attractive, offering both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is friendly, and it's always busy. That said, despite giving it multiple chances, I always walk away remembering why I don't come back more often. The food is just average. It's not bad--it simply tastes like fast Indian food to me. The elegant setting and fancy presentation might give the impression that it's something special, but when it comes down to the actual flavors, it fails. The dishes look great in pictures, but the taste doesn't live up to the visual appeal.

The Crushed Poori Chaat (crushed crispy and thick deep-fried flatbread, lentil and potato mix, pomegranate seeds, chaat sauces) was my favorite item because of the textures and the contrast of everything against the juiciness of the pomegranate seeds. I thought the Lentil Dumpling Chaat was similar to small hushpuppies covered in a thick sauce that reminds me of Pad Thai. The Sabzi Burger (thick and fluffy bun, thick black bean "patty", pickled cabbage and greens with chutneys) was a nice variation of a black bean burger. I liked the bread but thought the pickled veggies and chutneys melded too much with the soft black bean flavor. The Earth Thali had several mini parts. The Saag had a deep and simple spinach flavor. The Coconut stew was similar to a coconut curry but with a more prominent fresh coconut flavor. The Carrot kosambri had finely shredded carrots and other ingredients. The Potato cake (thin crusted, thick and moist potato patty) had a smear of something on it and was a good bite. The Naan (golden flatbread with sesame seeds) is not what some may expect as it resembled in taste and texture a yeasty thick flour tortilla. The Butter Chicken was simple. They offer a small chocolate-covered nut bite with a flaming candle and whipped cream for your birthday. Dinner on a weekday is surprisingly busy. You can do Happy Hour in the regular dining area.

Pondicheri offers a creative spin on Indian flavors, and everything we tried was delicious. The chickpea tofu frankie was packed with flavor and a perfect portion size -- hearty but not heavy. The naan was warm, soft, and full of flavor, easily one of the best I've had. We also tried a house-made mocktail that was super refreshing and perfectly balanced. The vibe is trendy yet laid-back, and the bakery counter is hard to resist. Great spot for anyone wanting something unique and satisfying! Our server was very knowledgeable and we had great service.

This time we were flying out of Houston so decided to try out Pondicheri which came highly recommended. First of, there is plenty of covered parking around which is nice to have. The ambience is great and tastefully done. The menu is unique and refreshing for an Indian restaurant. We got the lamb chops, thali and the ommlette with keema along with a couple of non alcoholic drinks and beer. They have a happy hour till 7 PM so the beer was $5 a pint, nice surprise. The food was mostly good, thali had Undhiyu which is a traditionally Gujrati curry and it was nice. Other curries in the thali were ok. The lamb chops were really good on their but the combination with eggplant raita does not work, at least for us. We might be back again to try the Dosas.

This was an amazing unique experience. Coming from an avid India food lover, the naan and paratha were far from the best I've had, however I thoroughly enjoyed the saag with figs and the butter chicken was good as usual (hard to mess up a butter chicken in my op) the potato cake was a nice touch. The chai pie, however, was excellent. The cookie crust was thick and delicious and the pie custard had such a nice chew to it. Perfectly spiced!

Texas Thali This was amazing way to try different things The lamb chop is delicious

The location of Pondicheri is nice. We went on a rainy day so couldn't explore much but got a gist of it. It looked pretty. Pondicheri had a great atmosphere. We tried the pickled pepper pizza. It was super fresh and delicious with a desi touch. The desserts looked interesting but did not try any. Hopefully next time. The staff was sweet.

I didn't too much like the butter chicken burger as it was just a slab of dipped butter, chicken with tomato and a huge onion slice about half an inch thick but overall it was okay. Unfortunately I didn't realize the burger came with fries and I additionally ordered loaded tikka masala fries so instead of it being a replacement for the fries with a burger I just had two huge orders of fries. Seemed like something that the person taking the order could've mentioned before I ordered it. Also had the lamb baryani, tikka masala and garlic naan. This was amazing! Tasted so good. On my last visit, I had the Lychee Ceviche, Barrah Kebab, Mushroom Khichdi (highly recommend), Dal Musaafar (also a must-order), Laal Maas, Lamb Chop Sulfiyan Biryani, and Brussel Sprouts -- so I already had a strong impression of how layered and ambitious the menu could be coming into this meal. This time around, the experience felt even more intentional -- not just in individual dishes, but in how everything was meant to be combined. The Paani Puri was easily the most fun dish of the night. Each puri came filled with spiced potato and chickpeas, paired with a lineup of flavored waters -- Yogurt Chili, Passion Fruit, Guava, Mango, and Traditional Tamarind. We ended up tasting the waters individually first, then building our own combinations. The tamarind was smoky and nostalgic, while the guava leaned especially exotic, and the passion fruit came in as a close second with its bright tropical notes. I also tried mixing the traditional tamarind with mango, which oddly created a more Hispanic-leaning flavor profile -- sweet, tangy, and super familiar in a completely different way. The passion fruit + guava combination ended up being my favorite overall. It was so light, refreshing, and interactive that we immediately ordered another round. Mithu's Coriander Shrimp was my favorite savory dish of the night. The shrimp sat in a coconut-based curry that had this mellow, toasted depth that reminded me a lot of Vietnamese chicken curry -- warm, aromatic, and comforting without being heavy. The bread soaked up the sauce perfectly, but what really made this dish stand out was how well it paired with everything else. When combined with the Chicken Tandoori Kulcha and its butters, it genuinely elevated both dishes and created one of the best bites of the entire meal. The Chicken Tandoori Kulcha came stuffed with spiced chicken and served with Kashmiri butter and fenugreek butter. On its own, it was already a buttery flavor bomb -- rich, slightly spicy, and incredibly aromatic. The Kashmiri butter brought warmth and heat, while the fenugreek butter added a refreshing, almost yogurt-like herbal note. But the real move was layering the coriander shrimp curry onto the kulcha -- that combination balanced the spice and added depth, making the dish significantly better. The Malwani Fish Curry featured unbelievably tender sea bass -- I compared it to silken tofu, almost like the filet mignon of fish. The curry itself was coconut-based with kokum, which gave it a citrusy, slightly sour edge. While I appreciated how regional and complex it felt, it leaned a bit too citrus-forward for my personal taste when eaten alone. That said, it completely transformed when mixed with rice or the biryani -- creating this incredibly cohesive, flavorful bowl that balanced everything out. The Jackfruit Kolkota Biryani was one of the dishes I was most curious about, and it delivered in a really interesting way. The jackfruit had a texture surprisingly close to meat -- similar to chicken or pork but softer -- and absorbed the spices incredibly well. The rice itself was extremely aromatic, layered with saffron, rose, and warm spices. Like many dishes here, it really shone when combined with the fish curry or dal, which added richness to the overall dish. The Daal Musaafar continues to be one of the most reliable standouts here. It's a 72-hour slow-cooked black lentil dish that comes out incredibly creamy, buttery, and rich. This time, it felt slightly saltier and a bit less creamy than I remembered, but once mixed, it balanced out nicely. It's still one of those dishes I would come back for on its own -- comforting, indulgent, and consistently one of the best things on the menu. The Nimbu Naan was thinner than the bullet naan I had on my previous visit, but that actually worked in its favor. The lemony brightness cut through the richness of the meal and made it the perfect supporting piece for soaking up dal, curry, and biryani. It added a refreshing contrast rather than just being a filler carb. The Pour Me a Slice cocktail -- winner of Truffle Masters 2026 -- was exactly as advertised. It's a truffle fat-washed rum drink designed to taste like a margarita pizza, and somehow... it really does. The savory notes, herbs, and slight cheese element came through in a way that was bizarre but incredibly accurate. Not something I'd drink every day, but easily one of the most memorable concept cocktails I've had. Despite it being Mother's Day and the restaurant running at full capacity, our waiter, Justin (with six years of experience), curated an incredibly smooth and thoughtful experience for us. The pacing, recommendations, and overall flow of the meal never felt chaotic, which is impressive given how hectic the night was. Huge thanks to Justin for really elevating the experience.

Our first dish, the Paani Puri, came out in 10 minutes. My favorite paani was the tamarind, followed by the passion fruit, yogurt, and then guava and mango. I thought the guava was a bit bland at first but it really worked well in the Puri. It took about ~30 minutes for appetizers to come out. Mithu's Coriander Shrimp (4/5): It reminds me a lot of Vietnamese / Thai curry. It's a bit pricey, but would recommend trying it. The sauce went really well with naan. Tandoori Chicken Kulcha (4/5): Delicious filling. The Kashmiri butter and fenugreek butter were very unique to melt on and add flavors. We actually had the most fun dipping the Kulcha in the shrimp sauce (4.5/5 combo haha) Entrees came out at ~50 minutes. Malwani Fish Curry (4.5/5) Inspired by West india and an incredibly tender piece of cod. The curry was very citrus forward and went excellently with naan and biryani rice. Dal Musaafer (5/5) Still fantastic, smoky, and complex. I'll get this every time we come. Jackfruit Biryani (3/5): A surprisingly good replacement texture for chicken, but I felt that it was missing the complexity of the lamb chop biryani. Nimbu Naan (4/5): Comes with three pieces and has a nice lemony flavor. I think I prefer the spice of the bullet naan. We also tried the "Pour me a Slice" cocktail, which was really a unique experience of drinking a pizza. Seriously, you can barely taste alcohol here. It's a truffle award winner but the truffle really comes out as a lingering flavor. It's really like a margarita pizza. Paid with inKind with no issues again. Another really fun experience here!

Not quite sure what to expect, I was pleased to see that it's completely plant-based including the pastries and no extra plus charge for alternative milks (praise!) I ended up ordering their pistachio latte which had a really rich, bold espresso note and a sweet cardamom finish at the bottom of the cup. I would definitely get this again but might try to stir it before drinking for a more even flavor distribution. In terms of the setting, there's lots of small tables and couches to work and study with either a small group or alone. They also have a back patio with additional seating, board games, and even a printer which can be hard to find in this day and age. Overall the vibe is relaxed and casual. Finally, while I had to wait about 30 minutes to order and receive my drink, I had some time to watch their workflow and would offer some suggestions for improvement to speed up their service. The staff all clearly put a lot of care into preparing each drink and were doing the best they could to move quickly, but the layout of the back counter area is fairly inefficient. To start, the ice well for cold drinks is on the complete opposite side of the register away from their espresso machines. This added a lot of steps for the staff to prepare iced coffee drinks. Secondly, the straws were also quite a reach for the staff across the counter, also by the ice well. Finally, the order retrieval process is not the best. There are no names written on the cups and customers are sometimes in the bathroom or outside on the back patio when their order is ready. It can be hard for the staff to locate the right customer or if the drink gets left on the counter, it's hard to know what it is and who it is for. Overall, a pleasant (plant-based!) discovery but hoping they might consider a few steps (pun intended) to reduce the strain on their staff.
