I don't think I've ever posted a negative review before, but I'm so frustrated with Nathalie's service. She was supposed to correct my hair color due to me attempting to color my own hair during the pandemic. She charged me the most I've ever paid for hair and then said she'd have to finish the service with a second session and it would be included in the cost of what I paid. She also mentioned she could book an appointment on weekends since that works better with my schedule. When she got back to me as to the second appointment, she back tracked on having the second appointment included in the cost of what I already paid. She also said she couldn't do weekend appointments. I knew I shouldn't have paid everything upfront and I she affirmed my hesitancy. Do not go here!! Such poor communication. read more

I went into Pomegranate Salon after reading great reviews and the convenient location as I was taking classes at UC Davis. I made a day-of appointment, and lucked out to get Noel as my stylist! First off, the space of the salon is light, airy and inviting. There is water/tea and nibbles and everyone is very friendly, often a dog is in the foyer too! And Noel is awesome. I have short hair, which needs to get cut more often than I'd like to keep its shape and style, so I needed a cut badly. I've had mixed luck with different stylists so was wary going into a new spot. Noel was down to earth, enthusiastic and approachable. I told her what I was thinking, showed her a few photos and she went with it so beautifully! It was the best cut I'd had in a long time. We also talked about future coloring and she showed me a few swatches to think over...I went in about 3 weeks later for a complimentary touch up of the back of my hair. A few weeks ago I went in for color, decided to take the plunge. I told Noel what I was thinking and she suggested a couple other ideas too, ended up convincing me to go for a full color of rich plum, which I LOVE! It was the first professional color I've gotten. The whole process was so easy, comfortable and fun! I totally trust Noel's skills and styling and have had great results! I only wish I lived closer to be able to justify going back regularly (I live in Sonoma). This place is great. read more

I parked in the minuscule parking lot behind Pomegranate and entered a girly paradise. The lobby was super cute, and there was a glass water dispenser in the corner. I sank into one of the cushy chairs to wait for my appointment. My hairdresser was Larissa, an accented woman with long hair. I was wary because I'd never been to Pomegranate before, but Larissa did not let me down. She took her time washing my hair, and I found myself relaxing as my long locks were soaking in this delicious smelling shampoo. After she carefully dried my hair, she listened to what I wanted and cut my hair in intervals, so that I could tell her if I wanted it shorter. What I appreciated about Larissa was that she kept her opinions to herself and really listened to what I wanted. She was very thoughtful and methodical, and she was very easy to talk to! She didn't rush, and I was very happy with my hair cut. Oh, and there are free bang trims for returning customers! Since I have a fringe, I'll definitely be coming back! I would say that my $60 was fairly well spent for an enjoyable hour and a half in the chair. read more

Rich has been cutting my hair since March 2007. I went to school in Davis and after 2 years of cutting my own hair, I bounced from stylist to stylist, never satisfied. Until I decided to try a little salon that just opened. And I haven't strayed since. I don't even live in Davis anymore, I live in Oakland. The few times a year that I head that way, I schedule a haircut with Rich. I always come in with pictures, but I never really know what I want. But my hair always ends up looking great. Rich is very attentive and always takes the time to make sure I'm comfortable with my hair. Plus, everyone at the salon is super nice and fun. The new space is gorgeous, and I'll probably continue to drive to Davis for haircuts. read more

I have been getting my hair cut by Rich for two years now, and even though I've moved to Berkeley (where I'm sure there are a ton of great hair stylists) I absolutely refuse to let anyone else cut my hair, because I know that nobody else will give it the kind of care and attention that Rich does. Worth mentioning: I have very short hair, and Rich is amazing at doing short cuts - I don't ever need to bring in a picture or even have a clear idea of what I want out of the appointment, he can take one look at my shaggy grown-out hair and know exactly what it needs, and I always get compliments from perfect strangers on it in the weeks after the cut. I barely style my hair so this is quite a statement. Just an example of why this place is awesome: Once I went in for an appointment when my hair was a bit longer and I needed a change but I wasn't quite sure what I wanted that change to be. Rich started fiddling around with it for a while. He had a decent idea of what would look good and match my face and maintenance habits, but when he was done it didn't quite fit. His wife Stacia (another stylist) came in and took over for a while, making some minor alterations but nothing dramatic, and then when she finished Rich and I had a bit better idea of what I was looking for and he ended up giving me an adorable new hairstyle that I loved. I was so blown away by how attentive the staff was during this period, they seemed totally unwilling to let me leave with anything less than an amazing cut. I'd never had such great service. Everyone else who works here is also great, very friendly and fun to chat with when you're waiting for an appointment. There are usually incredibly sweet and adorable dogs chilling in the waiting area, and the staff will usually offer you tea or coffee while you wait. They do art+music shows to support local artists on occasional Fridays, although they started these after I moved so I haven't been able to make it to any. However the walls are always decked out with great paintings. All in all, great environment, great staff, amazing service and the best haircuts I have ever had. read more

A stylist who is no longer at Pomegranate did my wedding hair and one of my bridesmaid's. I was moderately unhappy with my hair on my wedding day, unfortunately. But, I've always liked the haircuts/color that I've gotten from this place. The salon here is beautiful. I love that they have friendly dogs always around. read more

I made an appointment online with Tatiana after looking through her Instagram and not only is she good at what she does but an absolute sweetheart! I would travel MILES just to get my hair done by her, she did exactly what I wanted and made me feel so comfortable. I found my official hairdresser. Please please go to her! read more

Pomegranate's environment is relaxing and the staff are all very welcoming. I went here for the first time about two months ago to take my brunette hair to an icy blonde balayage, and Noel nailed it. She paid so much attention to detail; there isn't a strand of hair she colored incorrectly. I don't think I've ever met someone so invested making sure my hair looked perfect (including me). Not to mention she's the perfect amount of talkative. I was completely comfortable sitting in her chair for 3+ hours while she slaved away over my hair. If you want great hair, going here is worth the price. read more

If you are looking for an amazing hairstylist ask for Olivia. She's an expert with color and her blow drying skills will make your hair gorgeous. I always feel like million bucks when I leave the salon. I will drive from San Ramon to Davis only for Olivia. She's worth it! read more

Pomegranate Salon - Fresh out the salon hair. Highlights by Olivia. - Hair Salons Near Me - Davis, California

Very disappointed with Pomegranate Salon. Could not book online when their website was down, left an email message and a voice message...no response . A week later Stacia emails to say she will phone me to book, but no phone call. Sent another email but had to give up after trying to book an appointment for over 3 weeks. such bad customer service, so why would I trust they cut hair well? Don't go here! read more

I tried this place because my husband went here and said he liked it, and also because when i was calling around to find a place that could fit me in for a hair cut on short notice, the other places i called first couldn't. I'm glad i ended up here. The hair cut was so good that it stayed looking great for months!! Plus the people are friendly. Went it was time for a trim (really like 6 months later), people were just as friendly and the stylist remembered me even though she had only met me once and it had been a while. It was really nice to find a place were i can get a good haircut and the experience is nice, too! read more

I chose this salon based on reviews, and I am happy to say I was not disappointed. I met with Olivia, who did a great job! I have long hair, and every time I have gotten my hair cut I have been less than pleased. I had a picture of what I waned to look like, and Olivia nailed it! I also like that at the end she made sure that I liked it, and tweaked a few things to make it perfect. The salon is pricey, but for me it was definitely worth it. Also, I make the appointment the day before, they are great at adding you in! read more

I have been going to Pom Salon for about 2 years now and I absolutely love it. Noel just gave me a fantastic cut and color. Not to mention she is super sweet, which makes going in a treat! Noel has done my hair regularly for about 3 years now and she is truly amazing. I have had many hair stylist who don't ask my opinion and who didn't seem to care whether I liked the finished product or not, but Noel truly does. You can tell all she wants is for her clients to be happy and to come back. Noel has made me a red head, almost blonde, and now back to my natural dark brown hair. She is very creative and is willing to work with you. She also did my hair for my wedding and it was BEAUTIFUL! My bridesmaids were also very happy with their hair. I couldn't be happier that I can rely on her for my hair needs. I have also had my makeup done by Amy and she did an awesome job. She gave me the drama I was looking for. For this same event I had my hair done by Olivia and she gave me exactly what I wanted. I wasn't sure I would like the style so she did a quick trial run so I could see what it looked like before committing with hairspray. I loved it and she made it look even better! They gave me exactly what I wanted and I felt beautiful. I couldn't ask for more in a makeup artist and hair stylist. Everyone is very friendly in the salon and makes you feel welcome when you come in. read more

I came in to correct my own mistake of using too much box dye that resulted in the darkening of my ends. Stacia was completely accommodating, and managed to get out the darkness from my hair. With how successful she was, I had full faith in the salon to go ahead and get a balayage to get some dimension back in my hair. She transferred me to Nelson, who had more time to work on my hair, I asked him for one thing "I don't want orange hair" he said it would not be orange. After 5 hours spent at the salon, it's orange. The whole thing is a brassy, chunky highlights looking mess and I'm so upset, because that's exactly what I said I didn't want. Ended up paying $200, and I would've still have to go back to get it toned AGAIN to get that brassy colour out, which will probably be another $40, if not more. Stacia, Rachel, Nelson's assistant, and Nelson are sweet, but I will not be coming back. read more

I've gone to this salon multiple times and just recently went again. I had my hair cut by Tatianna this time and let me say I love the result!! She was super attentive to everything I said I wanted. I had a picture in my head and she cut my hair exactly how I'd pictured it. She was friendly and it was a really fun experience! I will continue going back to this salon. I recommend this salon for anyone in the Davis area. They are professional, friendly, and really want to make you look great. Please go and enjoy! Best! read more

I love Olivia! If you are looking for a new stylist definitely schedule with Olivia. I moved to Davis from the east coast this fall and was so sad to have to say goodbye to my old stylist! I wanted to make sure I found someone good here in CA so I looked online and first found a different salon that seemed well liked in Davis. I went in for a consultation, and boy am I glad I didn't just jump into getting my hair done. The stylist there did not seem to know much about coloring hair. Next I scheduled for a consultation with Olivia after seeing other good reviews for her online. This consultation was worlds better. Olivia clearly knew what she was talking about when it came to coloring hair! Fast forward to the present, and I have been to Olivia three times and have had a full highlight with a base break and haircut, a partial highlight with low lights, and a partial highlight and glaze -and everything has been great. I really appreciate how Olivia always starts off talking with you to see what you specifically want and is very accommodating. (And if you are not sure, she has great advice). You never have to worry that she will cut off more hair than you want or that you'll end up with a bad color. She is also super friendly and fun to chat with, and will make sure you are comfy with a drink and magazine while your color sets. Also, I love being able to schedule appointments online on their website, its so easy you just pick the stylist and service you want and see what times she has available. So glad I found her! read more

I am new to the area, and finding a hairstylist I trust is a challenge. Yesterday, I had an appointment with Olivia and found her to be outstanding! I told her a few ideas of what I wanted and the basics about my hair. She took a look at my current haircut, then made some really good suggestions what to change and also explained why she thought it would work better. While she was styling my hair at the end, we chatted a bit what type of products and styling techniques would work best for my hair. I am very happy with my new haircut and will definitely be coming back to get my hair done by Olivia. A year later: Olivia has been gently encouraging me to try a new hairstyle, much shorter than my current hairstyle. Finally, I took the plunge and result was fantastic! I was getting lots of compliments about the look. I am glad I trusted Olivia's vision, and I am very happy about the results. read more

First of all, I was a walk-in. Ok, technically I did call in first to make sure someone was there who could color my hair before I even left my house, but they assured me someone would be there to do my hair. As soon as I arrived, Olivia was ready to take me. :) I had just had my hair colored at another Davis salon and was not happy with it. It turned out way too red and I felt like Ariel or a circus clown. Not fun. Olivia (amazinggg!!!! HIGHLY recommended!) worked with me to pick a color that I liked better. After our consultation we agreed on a chocolate/walnut color. Much less bold, but still with some subtle, warm reddish tones. I cannot stress enough how amazing Olivia is at what she does. She mixed the perfect color, applied it evenly (no patchiness!), and took great care of me while it set. I sipped on hot tea and read People while the color took. After 15-20 minutes she took me to the washing station. This was probably the best part of the whole process simply because it was SO relaxing and calming. The shampoo and conditioner smelled amazing and it felt like I was getting a scalp massage! I almost fell asleep I was so relaxed. ...Incredible. We went back to her station and she put another delicious smelling product in my hair (and gave me a sample of it before I left) to keep my waves/curls in line. Then she blow dried and styled my hair in a way that made me feel like a Hollywood star. The main thing, the full color, was exactly what I wanted. The experience I had at Pomegranate with Olivia was more than exceptional. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone. Price for a full color change: $85- (I didn't get a cut, just a color change.) read more

Hannah is simply the best. I am a tomboy who doesn't know what the F to do with my hair, and she always makes it look great. I have been getting my hair cuts at Pomegranate Salon for several years. I cannot speak to their other salon services but their men's haircuts are excellent. I've worked with several stylists, most recently Jamie who did an amazing job. The salon is clean, bright and they have coffee and good conversation. Everyone is very friendly and I've never been disappointed with a haircut or a trim. A tip for the men going here, you can get a "clean up trim" half way between appointments to clean up the collar and ears so your cut lasts longer and they're always really accommodating about that. Great local business, great employees and excellent customer service. Online booking system lets you pick your stylist, search for open appointments, confirm your booking -- this is really nice and always works perfectly. I will keep coming back for as long as I am in Davis. read more

Literally the BEST hair cut I have EVER had! Thank you Stacia for making the world a little more beautiful, one woman at a time!

I had my hair cut by Rich, and he is King of the Pixie Cuts. I went in the day before leaving for a conference and he turned my shaggy, grown-out mess into a lighter-than-air coif that looks good even when I fall out of bed. I'll be back. read more

I was encouraged by the reviews of this place, but am not impressed. It's so-so. I actually ended up with the same cut I always get even though I came in with photos and details of what I want, what I normally get and how I'd like something different. I won't be back. It's not terrible...just not worth it. Boring. read more

I actually made my first yelp account just to leave a review for these folks. I was to this place around a year ago for just a simple haircut. Regardless of their attitude which I didn't like, a day after I left this salon I got a rash behind my neck (the area that you rest your head for washing). Since that day, I've met three doctors (two dermatologists and my physician) for this rash. Medications never worked and I've been living with this itchy rash for a year. As days are getting warmer, it's getting worse and I've already spent more that a thousand dollar for one stupid haircut! The haircut? was just nothing! They guy claimed that he's from NY and has a unique style. But when I left with a $73 haircut and send my pictures to my mom, she couldn't believe that I did anything to my hair! That Amateur! I never went back to this place (and not planning to go back). It's not always about the face of the place, it would be nice if they also care about sanitation protocols! read more

If you are looking for a great stylist, i highly recommend Nelson! He is a fantastic colorist and knows how to do highlights! He gives a great cut and an awesome blow dry! I went to see Stacia this morning for a color correction and I'm so glad that I did. She did an incredible job!! I had a highlight touch up done at another salon about a week ago and came away with a brassy/coppery color that looked unnatural- Nothing like the blond I had or wanted. I hated the result!! I came to Pomegranate Salon and specifically to Stacia because of all the amazing reviews online. The great reviews were right! My blond hair is now exactly the color I have been wanting- she completely fixed my blond hair (and I think its the best color blond I have ever had to boot)! She as well as staff were very reassuring- I was super anxious going in because of my past bad experience at the other salon. I was quickly made to feel at ease once they confidently explained how they were going to fix my hair. They had a plan in no time at all and were very knowledgeable. Thank God!!!! Also, in addition to her fixing my color (I think its the best its ever been) Stacia is very good at styling hair. My hair is frizzy and poofy and most stylists have a difficult time styling it. She styled my hair like it was no problem at all and even showed me a few new tricks for styling along the way. A+ experience! Stacia and the staff are amazing. Thanks for fixing my head! :-) If you are thinking about going to Pomegranate Salon, don't hesitate! I will be returning here from here on out. To any blond out there- I know how hard it can be to find a stylist that can produce natural and nice looking blond highlights. Stacia can do it. read more

Noel is AMAZING. I am incredibly picky about my hair, and Noel won me over. She knows just how to deal with my combination straight/wavy/curly hair, and I've loved every cut she's given me. She's also a color and style maven. My color looks great after weeks and weeks, and she also created my wedding hairstyle for me. She spend several hours with me making sure I knew just how to do my own hair on the day of my wedding, and it worked out perfectly. I can't thank Noel enough!! She's the best, and PomSalon is always a treat to be in. They do an excellent job. read more

Not going to lie, for guys this place may seem "over the top". But Rich does a wonderful job and always impresses me. I'm a student at UC Davis and made a special trips up to Davis from the Bay Area this past summer to get my hair cut here. The online booking system is also convenient. Additionally, the prices are also very reasonable for the Men's Cut. The free 3-week trim is clutch, and adds to the value of their services. read more

just had my hair done did by the lovely nelson, the whole thing was really quick, he had some of the stylists with less seniority wash my hair and do the blow drying after the cut, but he did all the cutting and did an amazing job. he really listened to what i wanted done and knew a lot about hair, as i've gone from bleaching my very curly hair several times - he wanted to preserve some length even though i was quick to just want all the unhealthiness gone. he gave me a clean, smooth slate to work with and i love how bouncy and healthy my hair looks and i can still tie it up! would recommend for my curly hair gals!! read more

We recently moved to Davis and thought it would take considerable time to find a stylist, as was the case in our two previous cities. Someone recommended Nelson at Pomegranate Salon to cut and style my hair and my husband's hair. Nelson did a fantastic job! He shaped my hair into a flattering style I never would've thought up, which covering up thinning areas that occurred when I stopped nursing my daughter. My husband's hair is pretty straightforward, but Nelson managed to cut it in the same conservative fashion while making it look interesting. Noel was really great and I felt very comfortable with her. She was incredibly nice and even took time to sit with me first and see what I was looking for. I know how hard it is to find someone you trust with your hair, but I would recommend her absolutely, 100%. Noel pays attention to detail, and even gave me a great scalp massage (what! that never happens!) and she even completed my haircut with some styling. I haven't gone to anyone else there, though I feel like you'd be in great hands no matter what, and especially with Noel :) As a side note, Noel said she loves to do styling for weddings and special events and there are others at the salon that do styling. They also have a MUA. I would definitely check them out if you're looking for something along those lines! :) read more
