A horrible ugly haircut is one thing, but Angie HAS NO REGARD FOR CLIENT SATISFACTION or retaining her customers. When I went back to the salon nearly in tears to show her the DREADFUL cut, with my hair under a beanie cap, she tried to blame it on me for not giving her proper instructions for the cut I wanted!! I got a haircut here a while back. The price for a haircut was extremely cheap ($17 for women and $15 for men) compared to other hair salons in Davis which can end up costing over $40. Furthermore, the ladies who work there were extremely friendly. The reason I am giving the salon 3 stars is because the cut I got could have been better. My bangs ended up being a bit uneven (I just fixed it myself). However, I suppose you get what you pay for, so it's not a big deal. Since I'm on a college student's budget, I'll probably come back to Angie's to get my hair trimmed (but not styled). I did not have a good experience. I usually don't have a problem because I have a very uncomplicated hairstyle, it's just long with layers. I went in as a walk-in, and I told her I wanted a trim with my layers cleaned up. She didn't wash my hair or get it wet, which I found a little odd. Then she just started cutting straight across, I didn't even want to correct her because it was clear she wasn't going to be able to produce the look I was going for. I was in and out in a total of 7 minutes, which is not something to brag about. At the end I looked like I had just taken my ponytail and chopped it off. I can't really say the experience was extraordinary (in either a good or a bad way); it was pretty routine. I called in around 3:50 pm to get a price quote and to ask how long the wait was. When I got there, there was no wait, which was a plus! I tell Angie exactly what I want (tapered length in the back, bangs to my nose in the front, trim off split ends), and she finishes in 5 min. I can't say this was the best haircut I've had, but hey, it does the job. I had a appointment the first time and none the second. Both times it took about the same time to see the stylist so I don't think it really matters unless you have a particular person in mind. The price is great for the quality of the cut- $17 for ladies and $15 (i think) for guys. The salon is by no means fancy (I think it used to be a house), but it is clean and well kept. I have gotten my hair cut here twice by two different people. The first time was with one the lady's who is not Angie. I have forgotten her name. Anyway, she did an OK job. I came with my hair wet so she didn't get the full picture of the random curls in the back of my head so that came out a little funky. I decided to go back and give them a second try, this time with dry hair. This time I got Angie. She did a great job. She was very set on making sure she got every stray hair even to the point of ironing out all my crazy curls. It took forever but I appreciated her attention to detail. read more

I will never pay more than $25 for a haircut because all I ever need is a simple 1 inch trim. No shampoo or styling necessary. I am always a walk-in so it is a risk whether Angie is busy with customers, but I've found the best time is after 3pm on a weekday. I had TERRIBLE experience. I came in to get a very basic haircut. I wanted a trim and some layers. Angie barely gave me time to explain what I wanted. She didn't wash my hair, but instead violently brushed my hair and cut it dry. She was literally just grabbing pieces of my hair and cutting them carelessly. It took her no more than 15 minutes and by the end of it, I had one sad layer and triangle head. The haircut was so sloppily done and unflattering! After, I decided I needed to get it fixed because it was horrid looking. So I rushed over to Salon Blonde and one of the nice ladies there, Aubrey, fit me in and fixed me up. She was appauled at how terribly the layers were cut! By the end of that visit, my hair looked very nice and my layers were how I wanted them. Bottom line, don't waist your time at Angie's. Eh...I really wanted to love this place. Tiny and standalone, I love rooting for the little guy. I'd recently gotten a haircut elsewhere, but wanted to have the sides shortened a bit and get my neck cleaned up. A man with a seeing-eye dog came in at exactly the same time, and I was frankly a little appalled by Angie's behavior. He asked if there was somewhere his dog could sit during his haircut and she warily suggested he put the dog outside. Thankfully a nice lady with color processing in her hair offered for the dog to remain INSIDE with her. I feel like her reluctance to have a service dog in her establishment broke ALL SORTS of ADA compliance laws, but he was super chill about it. As far as my cut...like I said, I wanted simple. I have short hair, and it grows super fast. Clean up the sides and back a little and shave my neck. She did an ok job blending, but I wasn't blown away. What killed me the most is she blocked the bottom, at my nape. I don't understand why anybody would EVER block a woman's haircut. I have to wait for the hair to grow in a bit before I attempt to shape the back again...but seriously. Don't block women's hair! Overall, I was unimpressed. Her demeanor was brusque, the interaction with the man and his dog made me super angry, and I got a mediocre/meh haircut out of the deal. As a newbie to Davis, I will continue my quest for an awesome, affordable salon. read more

I went in for a trim, told her I didn't want it styled, just layered around my face and tapered in the front. it was seriously the most choppy and worst cut I've had. She didn't layer it AT ALL. I had to keep asking her, "um... could you layer it around my face ?" She looked confused and would do one little snip and was like, "okay, done. " in like one minute. Quite a nice owner, able to drop in and not wait too long, but very disappointed in the haircut. Very superficial-- literally done on less than 10 minutes. I pointed out that the sides were uneven, and she made a few more cuts but I gave up asking after this repeated a few times. Lack of attention to hair length means that now, two weeks later, my hair is very uneven and needs a cut to fix. A waste of money, and for a man's cut the price is not cheap to begin with. read more
