I love this place. When you go get the Adobado chicken and the grilled onions. The chicken is always juicy and they make it fresh. The guacamole is very good as well. read more

This place is amazing. The most succulent, tasty chicken I've had in Chicago. Very well priced, good portions, and service is fast.

Good food ,but the girl at the counter is awful I had to ask her twice if she could get off her cell phone and finish my order. And I wanted the charro beans they gave me refried.when I called back they asked if I wanted to pick them up when I'm 30 minutes away.maybe this wouldn't of happened if the bitch would have got off the phone. read more

Awesome chicken!! I love the rice also and the lil pack of onions they give out

I smell like Adobo Grilled Chicken as I'm writing this and I really don't mind. This is the best chargrilled chicken I've had in this city. I couldn't stop eating it - so smoky and juicy, it's heavenly with the smoky, savory salsa. Comes with generous, flavorful sides - we had the charro beans and rice, with chips and salsa to start. Love the old-school bottles of Coca Cola, made with sugar and not corn syrup. read more

I have gone here 4 times in the past 2 weeks with various friends. It's amazing every time!

Best. Chicken. Ever. Seriously. The chicken is perfectly cooked and flavored. It's dirt cheap and yummy!?! Awesome. We were lucky enough to make it in on one of the half chicken free nights and it was glorious! The beans and rice were okay...not bad or anything but the stand out item at this place is the chicken. After our first take out order we decided to order again 2 days later for a family get together and everyone was amazed at how good it was. Do your taste buds a favor and go already... Note: You will smell like you've been camping when you leave but it is SO worth it! read more

The community has been counting the days until their triumphant return! It's here! Welcome back best charcoal grilled chicken place ever!

This place, just like many others have mentioned, is my go to place for take out/Mexican food. Awesome staff and even better chicken. Their Tuesday and Thursday deal makes the taste that much better. Rice and beans are always fresh and the chicken is adequately seasoned and prepared. You can expect a line in the evening so I suggest calling ahead if you are in a time crunch and don't anticipate there to be any chicken left when it's closing time. read more

Me and my co-worker jumped on divvy's and rode down to Pilsen for some chicken. After a sweating like an animal we sat down and ordered CHICKEN!. We also had salsa, tortillas, pickled onions, guacamole, beans and chips. We ended up so full that we were unable to ride back and called an Uber to haul us away. read more

My dad works in the area and visits every month or so. He talks about the place all the time and I finally tried it. I'm not much of meat eater, but the chicken was DELICIOUS! There was so much of it that I have about two extra meals waiting for me in my fridge. The place is so unpretentious and so good at what it does (literally just chicken, rice, and beans). read more

Love the deals throughout the week and the pollo adobado is the best in the neighborhood!

So I have been wanting to write a review but have STOPPED myself from doing so. You might as yourself why? well because this PLACE HAS THE BEST CHICKEN EVER and I am being a bit selfish. =D you that feeling when you just ate something delicious and you kinda want to tell everyone, but at the same time keep it to yourself because is AWESOME???? thats how you will feel once you try THIS chicken! Lets just say this my sister ONCE in a BLUE MOON eats chicken and every single time we come here she eats CHICKEN!!! BOY thats good! Its affortable, GREAT food and good place to dig in! I highly recommended, since I ONLY eat chicken from POLLO EXPRESS, at Buffalo Phills at the Dells and in Shipshewana Indiana with the Amish community! ENJOY!!!! WAMZA!!! read more

One of the best chicken places I've been to, every time I am in area I make sure to order and take home, some times we drive more than have an hour to get their food. The chicken is 5 stars, guacamole however is around 4. read more

What can I say that hasn't already been said? In my opinion, this place is perfect if you are going gluten free or paleo, and you just don't feel like cooking. It has amazing chicken (so much better than a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store) the beans and rice are fantastic, get the charro beans, and get those grilled onions too! Then have fun with all the salsas. For $20 you have a dinner for 4 (or 4 nights of food for 1!) and its pretty healthy and delicious. read more

You can't beat the value here and I'm a sucker for grilled chicken places like this and chicken planet. I think the good deal is tues-thurs where you buy a full chicken and you get a free half chicken. All the sides that come with the dinner are legit (rices, beans, tortilla,etc.,). All the salsas and chips&guac are good so try them all. Spending $20 here can feed 4-5 people. read more

After having the place bookmarked forever, I finally had a chance to try it out. It's in Pilsen and thankfully we went on a day with ample nearby street parking. It was a busy, cash-only place with friendly staff. I was so excited for the chicken, but there was a long wait (call ahead) and the chicken was a bit on the dry side when eating the white meat portions. Some degree of being dry is ok, but this was a bit much for my liking. Glad I tried it, but there are too many chicken places in the city now. read more

Love the chicken, rice and beans. All the food was the best and the staff was very nice and friendly... One thing that you have to do is call before you go otherwise it is going to be a long wait... And they only do cash:( read more

Pollo express is so yummy! the grilled chicken is so flavorful and juicy. You will be amazed at how much food you get. Its fast too. The title does not lie! They got chickens flying out the door. Get yourself some chicken for REAL. Chicken chicken. yea! read more

Very good chicken. We live north and Brassa Roja is a favorite of ours. Brasa is more of a sit down and be served place - this is more like you order at the counter and then sit. But it's great chicken. A little drier than I expected but very good. The sides are fantastic. I'd go back if I were nearby, but I'm not obsessing about it. Solid. read more

They serve one thing, and they do it well, and at a reasonable price. Half of a fire roasted chicken with two sides and a soda for about eleven bucks. And the chicken was the best. How can you go wrong? This may become one of my regular stops. read more

simply amazing... get the chicken bowl, i go for refried beans in mine. Great food at a great price. Call ahead for pick up and it is cash only (normally this might be a star taken off....) but worth it i promise... the chicken bowl can sometimes even be two meals read more

Make sure you call beforehand. I didn't know, and they were kind of pissed at me for just showing up. Great value for a lot of chicken. Chicken was fragrant and well-spiced, but my personal preference is for chicken to have more of a char on it. Also, the sides were kind of lackluster. I hate red onions, but if you like them you will be in heaven. read more

Hell yeah great chicken love the sides loved everything Im addicted and they do take out specials where you get a chicken to go for free! Dont be intimidated by the decor this place is the shit., I wish I didn't live so close cause I can smell the grill all day and it makes me hungry 2 people eat and get drinks plus plenty of left overs for 15 bucks read more

Talk about getting your BANG for your buck! Pollo Express is not a rotiserre chicken but a charcoal grilled chicken place in which the bird is lightly seasoned, its tasty and very moist.. it comes with a whole pack of warm tortillas, a side of rice and you get to choose between refried beans or Charro beans... Trust me when I tell you to choose the Charro beans... I actually come in sometimes for the bean soup by itself.. For $1.65 for a bowl its a steal!.. you also get green sauce and a small container of pickled red onions... A whole chicken is enough to feed at least 4-5 people with the sides... All for $15 bucks... This place does fast local delivery for $2 bucks and they accept cash or credit... read more

One of my favorite restaurants ever. Just sit down and receive food. Lorena has a fine establishment here. I love you, Pollo Express.

They essentially do one thing here (grilled chicken), and they do it extremely well. The skin is charred to a delectable level, and the meat is juicy. It comes with chips, two homemade salsas (one pico de gallo, another involving grilled vegetables), really good corn tortillas, and pickled onions. While the quality food is excellent, what makes Pollo Express exceptional are the prices. My order (half a chicken adobado, frijoles charros, and all the aforementioned accompaniments) practically took up my entire tabletop, cost me $8, and was pretty much the most expensive possible order per unit food at this restaurant. The same order with a whole chicken would have been under $11, and on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, the same order with 1.5 chickens would have been under $11. I have yet to find a better bargain in the city. I'm definitely going to eat here on the reg read more

Not bad. You get a lot of food and fixing for an extremely reasonable price. The chicken itself isn't anything mind blowing, and if you're a griller (such as myself) then I'm sure you've probably made better chicken at home. But it's quick, it's cheap, feeds a lot of people and it's flavorful. read more

Their grilled chicken is finger licking good. On Thursday's they have an amazing deal. You buy a whole chicken dinner at about $12 total and get a half chicken dinner free. Each dinner comes with 2 sides, tortillas, and toppings. read more

Home style comfort food. Excellent frijoles Charros. Great tasting charcoal cooked chicken. No nonsense approach but very consistent every time. Washrooms are impeccable A true Pilsen gem. Highly recommend. read more

I heard that this place recently burned down. I haven't been there in a while to verify the accuracy of this report but I certainly hope that their business will re-open soon. Their chicken is hands down the best chicken I've had in a while. With the tortillas, Spanish rice, refried beans and extras that they include, you can't find a better deal at any KFC, Popeye's or Church's Chicken. read more

Oh my gosh, some of the best chicken I've ever had. The chicken seasoning is so delicious and it is cooked perfectly on the grill. Crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. They also have some of the best guac I've ever had, they somehow make it super smooth. The whole meal was also ridiculously cheap. I don't live anywhere near the area, but would definitely be back! read more

This place is THE bomb. The portions are gargantuan for the amount of money you pay (but note: it is CASH ONLY). I came in with a friend a split half a chicken. The total came up to around 11 dollars and includes the chicken as well as rice, beans, onions, salsa, chips, tortillas, and beans. It ended up being so much food that we had a ton leftover. It looks a little off-putting from the outside, but it is so worth the trip! I wouldn't recommend this place if you're expecting anything fancy/diverse, but if you just want cheap, simple chicken tacos, this is your place! read more

Pollo Express is pretty much a dive. It's not really the type of place you take your family to eat. It is however the type of place go to pick up dinner if your not in the mood to cook. Pollo Express has saved my @ss many a times. Not only is their chicken healthy, but it taste so delish. I can't resist their tues-thurs special. Buy one chicken dinner get a half a chicken free. So for less than $20 you can get a chicken and a half, rice, beans and tortillas. Their guacamole is also pretty good. read more

Applause applause for pollo done deliciously right! Horchata not too sweet & the rice was like my mama's. Everything was excellent including the price... It's a hidden gem! read more

Ehhhhh... Smelled good though I was starving. Chicken was slightly overcooked and dry. Tortillas were cold doughy and hard. Rice was bland. Beans were ok but bland. Not awful but probably won't go back again. read more

This place is fantastic. The chicken is excellent and super cheap. My wife and I ordered a whole chicken with sides for $15 for dinner and ended up having plenty for lunch for the next two days as well! Great spot. read more

Yum!! So much food. The chicken was so good. Roll it up with some guacamole and their smoky flavored salsa and it was so good. We also had their beans and rice. We'll definitely go back if we're in the neighborhood. Oh, and Coke from the bottle is a must! read more

One night we were running late on our way to a concert at Thalia Hall and needed food stat. We found this place here on Yelp and boy are we happy we did. We went in and devoured a chicken between the two of us (SO was no carbs at that time). I love beans and both the refried and charro beans are delicious. I typically am not a fan of rice but theirs is delicious! The salsa is also great. Guacamole good. The only drawback is the corn tortillas which tend to be dry, but we use them later for chilaquiles! We have gotten take out four or five times now, always brings happiness to the household. read more

I need to keep this place on my MUST EAT list. Haven't been since the fall. I got the buy a chicken, get a half-chicken free deal with a friend and it was just as GREAT as I remember! I had a few bites of the delicious Charro Beans, but I mostly just tore into a whole chicken and ate until my belly ached! Chicken was flavorful and had just come off the grill, it was mad busy at dinner time and the friendly staff smiled kept the line moving along! This place does amazing roasted chicken!! read more
