I went to this place and ordered two chicken meals, one regular, one order was grilled. There was PLENTY of chicken made and available but somehow I had to wait over 50 mins for my meal. I spent $35+ and was told I had to wait 20 mins (for what I don't know but that seemed reasonably). After 30 mins I asked where my food was and the people behind the counter were beyond rude and said it takes 10 minutes to box and prepare meanwhile chicken was laying right in front of me and about 10 people came in after me and left right away. I can't help but feel that this is because I look like I'm white; everyone who came and left looked Hispanic. I left legit a hour later with mediocre food and the girl at the front didn't even say sorry for the wait or anything for that matter; she handed me my bag and kept it pushing. There were about 7 people working, one who was in the parking lot when I first got there and basically jumped in front of my car telling me not to drive a certain way meanwhile the parking lot is a one way and he stood in front of my car until I turned around and drove towards on coming traffic. The overall facility was in deplorable conditions, it smelled like dirty diaper and feces by the drinks. The bathroom was out of order ( I waited 45 mins and couldn't use the bathroom) and there was also a pregnant woman trying to dine in who couldn't even use the bathroom. The tables were FILTHY and there were 7 employees there literally walking past all the garbage, mind you it's 7pm and they don't close until 10pm? This place was complete trash and I waited bc I was so hungry and just paid 35$+ and didn't want to have to go through the process of going elsewhere which I regret. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worse enemy, I will never go to this establishment for as long as I live. I've been to this location only and been here two other times previously and the experience was just as bad but this was next level trash. read more

I came here because two years ago I ordered Uber eats and I remember that I like the food especially the grill or baked chicken but this time they did not have the baked chicken :( then I ordered a 8 piece fried chicken family combo and it came with Hawaiian bread and two sides. Well my two sides were cold slaw and mashed potatoes omg they were naaaasssstttyyyyy!!!!! Then I ordered the nuggets and fries for my daughter and it was bland. They combos don't come with drinks so we had to buy drinks on the side smh unbelievable. Needless to say I am never coming here again!!! I paid $47.00 for crappy food I should have gone to Popeyes and I would have paid like $15-$20 less for the amount of food I bought and it would have been tasty too. Lesson learned!!! I really want to eat here again. The number of times I passed Pollo Campero when I lived locally is probably TMTC. Just never stopped in. Finally had the impetus. Was nervous cause my Spanish ain't what it used to be, and it was only ever good enough to get me a D in high school Spanish. And I think Ms. Randazzo gave me a D just to get me out of the class... Anyhow, no Spanish was no problem. As a matter of fact I didn't even have to use my three-day rehearsed "Tu hablas Ingles?". I'm guessing the counter person saw the beads of sweat across my forehead and realized i wasn't a native speaker. Ordered my three piece dark meal with Fries and plantains and waited my turn. Their service is a little slower than fast food but now Fast Casual pace. Honestly it strikes me that it's all about demand. for the 10 of 15 minutes I was there the line was never less then three people deep with two people taking orders. So I get my box o' chicken and head to the office for an afternoon picnic. I honestly expected the Chicken to be over the top with oil and salt. It was neither. It was nicely golden and crispy and while the salt was more than I would use in my own, but it wasn't over the top. Fries were done just as nicely and even better salt proportioning. The plantains were the only disappointment for me. I prefer mine lightly dusted and fried, there were boiled. They I'm assuming that there are cultural differences in how to prepare plantains of which I am not aware. So these were good for what they were, sweet and soft but not mushy, just not fried. The best way to describe this restaurant is a Latin American KFC. The menu is focused on fried chicken, grilled chicken, and Latin sides. I tried to order the grilled chicken but none was available...so fried chicken it was. It was comparable to what I have eaten at KFC many years ago. It was very greasy and crispy. Tasty but too oily for my liking. As for sides, I tried the baked beans, yuca fries, and plantains. Similar to the chicken, they all tasted good but were overwhelmingly greasy. Pollo Campero is one of the few places I've found which had horchata available on the spot. As far as "fast food" fried chicken is concerned, Pollo Campero is a notch above KFC, Popeye's etc. The chicken is tender, moist, and very flavorful. The sides are yummy as well. The chicken here is juicy, huge, and well-seasoned. The french fries are top tier and way less salty than what you'd get at McDonald's or KFC.
