The drive thru service was great. Food was good. The customer service was excellent. The food was packaged really neat.

I had a taste for some fried chicken and this place is close. The service is fast. Even though there is always a good number of people here, getting your food doesn't take long. I ordered 3pc fried chicken white meat and fried plantains. They gave me breast, wing, and a thigh. The fried chicken is better than average. The fried plantains are worth the trip alone. The roll is forgettable. read more

The best Latin fried chicken in the world! lol! Listen a great lunch meal. Juicy crispy chicken, great sides. I don't know how they make great fried and super juicy and favorable. read more

The chicken was good as well as the yucca, the fries and rice are average. I'm from Guatemala and its pretty close to the Guatemalan version. The price at this place is on the high end like Popeye's or a little more. I don't mind paying a little extra once in a while. The staff at this location was nice and pleasant, there was plenty of parking and sitting space read more

Fried chicken is off the chain. So is the price tag. Yellow rice and plantains available.

I was helping a friend who recently moved to the area, and during our trip to pick up some items for her new place, we came across this restaurant. The first thing I mentioned was that it reminded me of El Pollo Loco, which we don't have here in Atlanta. The food was tasty and reasonably priced, so if I ever crave chicken again, I know where to go! The chicken was juicy and flavorful. For our side, we had beans, which were the tastiest I've had since moving to Atlanta. The mac and cheese was okay; I wasn't expecting anything amazing. It wasn't bad, but it tasted like your average fast-food mac and cheese. We were so hungry from moving that on top of getting the family meal We also got the empanada meal so we could try the empanadas... They were OK I've had better. But for fast food place, I was not mad at it. For that one we got the rice as a side and the rice was mediocre. read more

I tried this place for the first time like a week ago. I was busy and didn't have time to post. I got a 8pc chicken only they charge like Popeyes prices. The chicken tastes alright. I got the fried chicken just to see what it is all about. I probably should have got the grilled chicken. read more

Baked or fried the chicken is very flavorful! The drive-thru was the way to go for my first experience. The window server was very kind, helpful and friendly. She recommended the Mac & Cheese ~ a little mushy and salty for me, but still good. I shall return! read more

Service was great food (Fried Chicken) was so delicious. Next time I'm going to try the grilled chicken. Was not a fan of the rice(flavor) and the campero beans (I thought were baked beans but there actually pinto beans) read more

I just received an Uber Eats order, paid extra for white meat and received a thigh and drumstick. Dark meat it too greasy for me and I haven't eaten any since I was a child, this the food is going in the trash. I can only eat the rice and the roll that supposedly came with the meal wasn't there either. I try to patronize places but it is sad that they can't get basic orders right. It is not like I ordered a bunch of food. Waste of money and time. Now I have to go cook dinner after waiting an hour for the delivery. Thanks for absolutely nothing. read more

Pollo Campero Buford HWY - Fast Food Near Me - Atlanta, Georgia

It was ok. It's way overpriced though. I've been there twice. The wait time is long but the chicken is fresh. It's a little salty too.

food was cold and not fresh! first time vusing fries was cold and stale chicken was not hot abd fresh at all

I've never noticed this restaurant in my life. But when Pollo Campero was pointed out to me, I was pretty excited to try a new kind of fried chicken. We got here at 12:20ish and the place was PACKED. There was no where to sit after we ordered, so we prayed that we would get a seat after our food came. There was no such thing. However, a cashier noticed that we had no seat and made sure we had a seat right away. Even with her broken English, we could communicate in our universal language of food. She wiped down our table and helped us set our food out. We ordered a four piece fried chicken combo to share, which came with two sides. I asked for some rice and mashed potatoes, and I also couldn't help from ordering the flan for dessert. The fried chicken is delicious - the breading is thin and crispy. The rice was a-ok. Mashed potatoes was nothing special. Bread roll was meh. Flan was not great, I wish I had gotten the quatro leches cake. Overall, Pollo Campero is definitely an interesting new "fast" food option on Buford Highway. The chicken alone is a solid 4 star, while the sides and everything else were a solid 3, at most. Definitely come here just for the chicken!! read more

Pollo Campero is actually pretty good. El Pollo Loco and Pollo Tropical don't have anything on this place. Pollo Campero is the world's largest Latin chicken chain. It's a mix between fast food and fast casual. The ordering process, delivery time, and prices are like a fast food joint (there's even a drive-thru), but the food is personally served to your table on a tray with real plates and silverware like a fast casual restaurant. I had dinner here last night with a group of 12 for our latest Buford Highway UYE (http://www.yelp.com/events/atlanta-buford-highway-uye-pollo-campero). We showed up unannounced. The manager and staff were friendly and accommodating to our large group. I was pleasantly surprised with the entire experience including the service, the quality of the food and establishment, and the speed at which the food hit our table. After 28 BuHi UYEs with large groups, Pollo Campero easily wins for fastest food delivery time. In some cases, people received their orders almost instantly. "Pollo Campero" roughly translates as country chicken. They serve all sorts of chicken: fried chicken, grilled chicken, chicken sandwiches, chicken strips, chicken bowls, and chicken burritos. You can choose which pieces of chicken you get (e.g. leg, thigh, breast, wing). Most of the aforementioned items cost only $6.00-7.00 each and include a side and fountain drink. Note on the fountain drinks: In addition to the self-serve fountain machine with sodas, you can choose any of the fresh Latin drinks (agua frescas) behind the counter. They include tamarindo (tamarind drink), horchata (sweet cinnamon rice drink), and jamaica (purple hibiscus tea). I recommend these over the self-serve fountain drinks. Family meals are available. You can order up to a 16-piece chicken meal with 4 sides for $32.99 (serves 7-8 people). You can also order a whole grilled chicken for $11.99 (or with two sides for $17.99). Sides include Latin dishes such as seasoned pinto beans ("Campero Beans"), black beans and white rice, seasoned rice, yuca fries, and sweet plantains, and American sides like mashed potatoes and gravy, coleslaw, and fries. If you're looking to eat healthy, salads are also offered. A self-serve salsa bar is located next to the ordering counter. Last night, it contained five different types of salsas: jalapeno, pico de gallo, cilantro/onion, roasted tomatillo, and chipotle. I ordered the #4 1/4 Grilled Meal ($5.99). It came with a grilled chicken leg and thigh (other option is breast and wing), a side (I chose Campero Beans), and a drink (I chose horchata). The meal was delicious. Everyone in our group who ordered the grilled chicken was surprised at how tasty it was. The chicken was well seasoned and marinated. It was tender and juicy -- perfectly moist. It's almost like eating rotisserie chicken. The dish also came with a fresh slice of lime and a choice of a dinner roll or two corn tortillas. Lime was not necessary for the chicken, though. The skin already had an appetizing tanginess to it. I went with corn tortillas in lieu of bread and the tortillas were mostly unmemorable, except for the fact that each set of two was individually wrapped and heated in plastic bags. The Campero Beans were quite flavorful. Campero Beans are slow-cooked pinto beans simmered with smoked bacon, chorizo, onions, garlic, tomatoes, jalapenos, and a special seasoning. They were certainly hearty and satisfying and I recommend them. Drink-wise, I tried two of the agua frescas listed above: the horchata and jamaica. Both drinks seemed more processed than what an independent, perhaps more "authentic" Latin joint would serve, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. The horchata was super sweet and consistently silky smooth throughout. Often times, horchata can have a powdery texture because the drink isn't mixed all the way through. Not here. The jamaica was fruity and also very sweet. I liked both drinks. The store is bright and clean and decorated in bold burnt orange colors. You wouldn't think it from passing this place on the road, but Pollo Campero is probably one of the nicest, if not the nicest, fast food joints on Buford Highway. It's probably 10 times cleaner than the Taco Bell next door. Service was excellent. Apart from receiving our orders super quick, staff periodically checked on our tables, asked if we needed anything, and took away finished plates. At the end of our meal, the manager checked on us one last time and thanked us for coming. Overall, Pollo Campero gets a solid 4 stars out of me. I had a good experience and the food was good value for the money. I'll be back. read more

It's okay. When we were driving down Buford Highway, after coming from Church's Chicken, we saw Pollo Campero (which looks like a former Church's chicken fyi) and made a plan to come back. One week later we paid these guys a visit, hyped for some great Latin chicken! As we visited on a Sunday after church, this place was packed. Tables were full and to go orders were also coming and going for the time we were there. We both decided to get chicken meals, have them split between fried and grilled ($6.99 each), and yuca fries/plantains ( both $1). The chicken was split with one fried breast, one wing and one chicken leg (both grilled). The fried chicken piece was actually fried very well. The breast was juicy, fried portion was crispy and not at all greasy. The grilled, which was a lemon herb blend, was somewhat underwhelming. You could get one side and one drink with your meal. I chose plantains, and while the plantains weren't bad, they weren't anywhere close to the best I've had. The yuca fries were also okay. Pollo Campero was JAMMMMM packed. If you aren't cool with eating with other tables and diners being very close to your table, maybe get your order to go. Parking at Pollo Campero is pretty easy with this private lot and there are a couple of entrances/exits onto Buford hwy. Customer service was friendly and their explaination of menu items was helpful even though they tried to upsell many of their additional sides and drinks. So yea, the fried chicken was good, not greasy, very crispy and I'd happily go back for that. The sides and the grilled chicken couldn't keep up with the goodness of the fried though. My next visit back will be for the fried. read more

Food is good, but the service is horrible. First situation is we asked for a 3 piece meal all legs. They said we can't do that. We then asked for the 2 piece meal, both legs, while adding another leg for an up charge. They said no. We legit said doesn't matter the additional cost, but they still refused. We visited again as a dine-in. The manager was talking ill about my husband who they didn't realize is fluent in Spanish. Shen he revealed he speaks Spanish, the apologies and adoration kicked in. Very poor service. read more

Very tasty chicken (both fried and grilled). However, the Campero Beans are spectacular, especially when paired with the plantains (sweet and savory heaven). These sides are definitely the best out of any of their fast food chicken competitors. read more

This place is the ish. Crispy, flavorful chicken so good I ordered an eight piece to go after I had finished my meal. The Campero Rice as well as their beans are delicious. The empanadas are so good too! A nice crust but still chewy from the glutinous dough. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. One of the best fast food fried chicken joints. All around amazing. And don't sleep on the flan. read more

Delicious It was really good and I enjoyed it a lot. I've never been here before today but I'll definitely be going back soon.

Ate at the new one on Cobb parkway in Marietta. Clean place with nice folks behind the counter. First time here. Fried and baked chicken are the deal here with cool Mexican/puerto rica sides and food vibe. Got the two piece breast and wing fried with Compero beans....with pork! Beans were great as was the flavor of breading on chicken. Breast and wing were average size....really moist! Got an iced tea with it and was out the door for under $8!!!!! Great place for a good fast and relatively cheap lunch!!!! Oh.....forgot they also have empanadas!!!!!!! They looked really good! Will be back! read more

Great! Best chain chicken restaurant ever! Very friendly and good prices! I've been here many times and everytime it's a great experience!

The Empanadas were AWESOME and I should know, I spent my junior year of high school in Oregon and my best friend's Mom made empanadas from scratch every Friday afternoon. The crust was flaky but firm perfection and the seasoning! Oh my! I literally ordered 2 in the drive thru, ate 1 on the parking lot and got BACK into the drive thru lane to get 3 more so I wouldn't have to share when I got home. They come with a very flavorful, wonderfully spiced dipping sauce. If you don't try anything else, try the empanadas! The fried chicken soooo good. It was perfectly seasoned and crispy. The seasoning was through all the meat and skin. Cooked perfectly and fresh! I got plantains as a side and I was not disappointed. You can tell they pick plantains that will fry up dark and sweet. I would definitely travel to this side of town just to eat here. read more

The fried chicken is amazing. The sides are pretty bad though. I always just get my sides somewhere else. Speak up at this location because their drive-thru mic is messed up read more

For fast food fried chicken, it's a four. I deducted a star only because the dining venue is extremely small and the tables are very, very close together. The food, however, was exceptional. My partner and I both got the fried chicken meals, one with a thigh and leg and one with a great and wing. The chicken had a good, flavorful fry on it that was not at all greasy. The chicken was plump and juicy but smaller than what you would get at a KFC or Popeyes. It was also super most and fell apart easily. My dinner guest eats the morrow from the bones and commented on how easy it was to do this. They also season the inside of the chicken, which you would occasionally come across as you eat. It was a Latin seasoning/spice and was nice. For the sides, we both got a dinner roll and mashed potatoes and gravy. I thought the potatoes may have been homemade because they were a little lumpy. The gravy was good but I prefer Popeyes and Bojangles. There are numerous sides, as their menu reads, "for everyone." Everything from yucca fries too black beans. I would definitely go back and maybe try some other sides next time. If you care: They only serve Pepsi products. That's a big deal here in Atlanta. read more

Check this place out if you like fried or grilled chicken. It's a fast-food chain but they serve food on real plates w/ real silverware. Crowd is mostly Latino. Service is very friendly, and the prices are very good. Combo meals are the best value b/c it includes entree, side, drink, and roll or tortillas. Also check out their salsa bar - they've got red salsa, green salsa, pico de gallo, jalapeno's, and chopped onions/cilantro. I'd also recommend getting the white meat (vs. dark meat) b/c you get more meat. FYI - their chicken is fresh, not frozen. And while this location is fairly new, Pollo Campero apparently has been around since the 1970s, where they started in Guatemala. Make sure you join their email club to get free dessert :) 1/4 GRILLED MEAL COMBO - DARK MEAT $5.99 Cashier recommended this dish when I told her it my first visit. They said the chicken is marinated 12 hours in a secret blend of citrus & Latin herbs. Chicken was very good - I just wish there was more meat ... hence my recommendation to pay extra and get white meat. I didn't know which side to pick - cashier said Campero Beans were the best. She was right - they were awesome. The beans are made w/ bacon, chorizo, and diced tomatoes. She also gave me complimentary plantains which was nice service (probably b/c it was my first visit) - the plantains were large & yummy :) For drinks, I decided to go Latin for an extra $.30 - I went with mango juice which was very fresh tasting & yummy. 2 PIECE FRIED CHICKEN COMBO - BREAST / WING $5.99 I love fried and this dish was no exception :) For sides, I picked the Yuca Fries which came w/ a tasty sauce ... except they took a while so the cashier brought complimentary French fries which was nice service :) Not a fan of the Yuca Fries though b/c it was too much fried stuff (and little Yuca). For drink, I got the Horchata for an extra $.30 ... it was sweet as expected but tasty :) GRILLED CHICKEN SANDWICH COMBO - $5.49 The chicken breast sandwich was also good. For sides, I tried the Black Beans & Rice ... which became tastier when I added the onions/cilantro from the salsa bar :) For drink, I tried the Tamarindo for an extra $.30 ... which was tart & sweet. Overall 3.5 stars rounded to 4 b/c of the good service esp. for fast food. Definitely a good option if I'm on my way home and feeling too lazy to cook. I think my favorites so far is the grilled & fried chicken, Campero Beans, and the mango juice. FYI - they have whole rotisserie chickens and family combo meals, too. read more

My experience at Pollo Campero was completely unexpected and exceeded my expectations. Originally, I suggested to Daniel B to have a UYE at Pollo Campero almost as a joke since we had a UYE at Pizza Patron. But we were all amazing at how good the food was for a fast-food joint. Pollo Campero is like the Latino version of KFC. They have fried and grilled chicken, sandwiches, and salads. In addition, they have some classic Latino sides such as rice, beans, yucca fries, and fried plantains. I ordered the grilled chicken with a side of Campero beans (recommended by the cashier) and a side salad, along with the complimentary corn tortilla. The grilled chicken is REALLY good. It has a nice lemon and herb flavor, and the chicken was very moist. The beans were very tasty, and I'm glad I got this instead of the rice. Actually, I liked dipping my corn tortilla in the bean's juices - yum. And the salad had tortilla strips on top which added a nice crunch. In addition, this place is super speedy! Our dinner started at 7:30pm, but I got there 10 minutes early and found that some of the other Yelpers had already almost finished their dinner HAHA! Apparently they hadn't been there for too long, but the food came out almost instantly. Overall, this is a great place to grab a quick tasty meal for cheap on Buford Highway. [18 of 100] read more

I'll admit I wasn't expecting much when we pulled into the drive-thru late one night as a last resort dinner option, but they've kept me coming back. As their name entails, chicken is the name of their game; Pollo Campero is most definetely a fast food restaurant - it's a bit reminiscent of Chick-fil-a, if Chik-Fil-a were Latin influenced. Campero offers two types of chicken, grilled or fried, in breast, wing, leg, or thigh. In addition, they also serve chicken sandwiches, strips, chicken bowls, grilled chicken salad, and chicken burritos. Their only non-chicken options are their sides: -Rice and Beans -Sweet Plantains -Yuca Fries -Pinto Beans -Mashed potatoes w/gravy -Coleslaw -French Fries There's also a small salsa bar next to the drink dispenser, and each order comes with your choice of tortillas or a dinner roll. I've tasted both the grilled and fried chicken options and they're tasty. The chicken is always well seasoned and full flavored, not to mention tender. Where Pollo Campero falters is their side options; I've tried about half of the items on their menu (the Yuca fries, rice and beans, mashed potatoes, and the plantains) and they all left a lot to be desired, the yuca and plantains were tough, overcooked or seemingly left under a heat lamp for too long. The mashed potatoes were grainy and the gravy was watery. The staff is friendly, the service is prompt and efficient. Pollo Campero is my new go-to for food on the go, I'll just stick with the chicken from now on. read more
