You can find them Next to the topless club "cheeks" LOL
    Cheri Y.

This place is amazballs. We call it the "chickin shack" on Cerillos road. It's a permanent little one/two man shack in the parking lot of the topless strip club on Cerillos road, you can't miss it. LOL The owner BBQ's the chicken out back his little humpy "chikin shack" you will see his van parked next to it filled to the top with charcoal. He just hangs out there all weekend barbecuing the most incredible freakin chicken you ever had this side of the Mexican border. Get there early or he will run out! One weekend he ran out of the beans & we had to get double rice. Durt durt durrrrrr, apocalyptic tragedy. GET THERE EARLY !!! You have been warned. You must get the BEANS!!! Omg :)... We have had the tacos, burritos, half & whole chickens. All of it is 2.die.4! The burritos are YUGE! Warm flour tortillas stuffed with that smokey BBQ Asado chicken, melted cheese & veggies, Hubby can not even finish one. Makes great leftover too. YUM! :)' I like the tacos better bc they are loaded with the succulent chicken & then topped with super fresh lettuce, tomato & fresh Oaxaca cheese on corn tortillas YUM! :)... Everything comes with the most incredible smokey, lardy, beans, real Mexican style rice cooked with chicken bone stock & Chiles Toreados (fried whole jalapeño) AKA "chili Toreado just say no" as hubby says, bc it's devils dungeon degrees hot. If you do not like spicy do not attempt the Chile's Toreados. Speaking of spicy, if you want some spicy salsa to go with it, ask him to give you some of his spicy chili sauce on the side for dipping. Holy baby Jesus is that stuff HOT & HEAVENLY !!! Very smokey red chili sauce with a KICK! Amazing smokey salsa! I LOVE IT! :)... The sides & sauces are just as amazballs as the chicken! The whole & half chicken comes with all the same sides with corn tortillas. Prices are listed on the menu. You def want to take some extra home with you! There are no tables or chairs or nothing. It's to go only. CASH only. You can walk up or call your order in & go pick it up. It comes pipin HOT fresh made, we can't even leave the parking lot b4 we start cramming it in our pie holes! Lol If you dig pollo Asado your going to LOVE this little chikin shack. This dude & his homies are seriously makin some authentic Mexico-Magico BBQ up in this joint & dishin out some super fresh flavor packed yummy sides & sauces made with professional Chef flair. YUGE. FANS. HERE. We don't usually eat in the titty bar parking lot, or any parking lot for that matter, but for this chikin, for those BEANS, for THAT sauce?! Make tracks for the strip joint "chikin shack" with CASH. IN. HAND. Make. It. RAIN. Highly recommend.

Cash only food truck with a limited but excellent product. They specialize in chicken and they do it very well. I had to wait 25 min because they were cooking more chicken. That's as freshly cooked as it gets. It appears they spatchcock the chickens which is why it's cooked so evenly. 4 stars because the breast was a bit dry. Dark meat was juicy. Flavor great and not overly seasoned. I might have liked a little more but that would have made it more salty I'm sure. Minor quibble. The accompanying rice and beans were tasty as well. I've included a photo of the menu with a slight price increase over time. Still an excellent product for the money.

Check your containers of watery Beans, Rice and Salsa. They only fill them half way. Seems this place is getting cheaper and cheaper

The topped the burrito with green and red sauce... delicious!!! The flour tortillas were warm and soft awesome. As for the service... not good! The bartender is a rockstar, but the other server was not good. Forgot to give our drink order, forgot we asked for water, and forgot the beer I ordered. Actually, the food made up for it! Just call it mango juice because that is what it was. The only bright spot of the entire meal was our waiter. He was friendly, attentive, and genuinely great. I ordered the barbacoa plate, which came with four incredibly tiny tacos and beans. For $22, I was honestly shocked at how little meat was in each taco. Maybe a tablespoon at most. On top of that, the barbacoa had so many burnt pieces that they completely overpowered the flavor. I could barely taste anything besides char. I only finished it because I was starving. The beans were somehow even worse. They tasted like plain boiled beans with absolutely no seasoning. Not even salt. My girlfriend ordered the chicken enchiladas with mole for $28, and they were just as disappointing. It was basically two tiny rolled tortillas with the chicken sitting next to them instead of inside them. It made no sense. The mole sauce was decent, but it leaned much sweeter than savory. The only thing we left talking about was how disappointed we were. For the prices they charge, the portions and quality were nowhere close to worth it. We actually stopped at the Valero down the street afterward so I could grab a Milky Way ice cream because I was still hungry. That ended up being the best part of the night. Restaurant was beautiful too I guess.

I have been coming here for thirty-five years, and it blows my mind that after more than three decades, it keeps reaching new heights while fiercely retaining everything that made it legendary in the first place: the unbeatable high quality, the remarkably affordable prices, and those effortlessly cool, historic vibes. It is a rare, beautiful gem that refuses to compromise its soul, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. This visit was extra special because my fiancé was a first-timer, and he was instantly converted, falling just as madly in love with the magic of this place as I did decades ago. On this particular afternoon, the lines were wrapped around the courtyard and the energy was absolutely electric. It was hella busy, which is a testament to how beloved this institution remains. Rather than waiting for a table, we decided to grab our food to go--a move that turned out to be pure perfection. We took our feast over to the historic plaza square, found a spot to sit, and ate under the shade of the trees while listening to live music drift through the air. With a beautiful, cool mountain breeze rustling through the plaza, it was the most quintessential, magical Santa Fe experience you could ever ask for. As for the food, it remains an absolute revelation. I ordered my enchiladas "Christmas" style, split right down the middle with both their famous, deeply savory red chile and their bright, perfectly spiced green chile. The first bite instantly reminded me why no one else can touch what they do here. The blue corn tortillas were tender, the cheese was perfectly melted, and the chiles carried that robust, earthy, authentic New Mexico heat that warms you from the inside out. It is a flawless execution of culinary tradition. To be able to deliver that level of world-class, scratch-made perfection at a price point that still feels incredibly generous is nothing short of a miracle. Whether you sit in their enchanting, labyrinthine dining rooms or pack it up for a picnic on the square, The Shed is the absolute pinnacle of the Santa Fe spirit.

The red has that deep, earthy flavor with just the right kick, while the green brings a brighter, roasted heat that balances everything out. Together? That classic "Christmas style" combo that hits on every level. The masa was soft and flavorful (not dry like you get at some places), and the filling was generous and well-seasoned. The sides sealed the deal--fluffy Spanish rice, hearty beans, and a fresh, crisp salad that cut through the richness perfectly. Portion size was solid, presentation was clean, and everything tasted like it was made with care--not rushed, not watered down for tourists. Service was quick, friendly, and exactly what you want when you're trying to keep a night moving. Authentic, satisfying, and exactly what you hope for when you come to Santa Fe. I'd order this again without hesitation!!!
