The food is very good. I had the fish sandwich and my wife had a chicken taco and a lengua taco. Very tasty food and prepared to order.

I've been to Perú and this is the most authentic Peruvian food in town! A hidden gem.

It…read morehad been a couple of years since my last visit, and I was glad to see the service was still just as fast and friendly as I remembered. It's counter service--you order at the register, find a seat (there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating), and they'll bring your food out. I ordered the fish taco combo, which came with two fish tacos, yuca fries, and a canned drink. The tacos were good, but I wasn't a huge fan of the menu changes. Everything is a combo now, and I was told I couldn't order the tacos by themselves. I wish they'd bring back the à la carte option because I'd rather try a few different things than be locked into one meal. The yuca fry portion was also smaller than I expected--I only got about five fries. Overall, it's still a spot I'd recommend if you're visiting Athens since it's been a local favorite for so long. I just left a little less impressed than I remember being the last time I was here.

Maybe I went to this restaurant with too much high expectations…read more The atmosphere is nice for a bar night, for a sport bar or even a dance club.... not too much as a regular restaurant, it's too dark and it has neon lights. The service was good in general, the waitress was attentive and came to my table often asking if I needed something. Now... the most important, the food... I am very disappointed. The causa acevichada I think it had good ingredients, the fish was good too but there was no flavor; It tasted bland with not enough lime juice or salt. In my second plate, almost the same... good ingredients for the Lomo Saltado but I don't think the made it in a wok, the meat tasted just cooked in a simple pan without that "flame taste", forget about the Tacu Tacu... they don't use the right type of beans and no way it was done correctly as you can see in my photo. I don't think I'll be coming back because of the quality of the plates but I understand that the "fun night" bar atmosphere and activities are their hook for other people to come..

We ordered the causa sampler, which was OK though relatively small. The other dishes were also ok. I got the Tacu Tacu, which first couple of bites were very good, but then started to feel too salty. I'm not dismissing the food altogether, but it could be slightly better. Service was somewhat all right, they were polite, but it took a bit for a hostess to welcome us, and our waitress was somewhat absent but would be seen sitting at another clients table just chatting. The restaurant is large and spacious with what seems to be a little casino in the back. When I went, they had karaoke night, but prior to that, they had TV and music all over. Though I appreciate the attempts of having a lively environment, it was so loud you could barely hear the other people you were with.

Lomo saltado is a Peruvian beef stir fry dish. Fun fact, the dish was created by Chinese Peruvians…read more I guess that makes sense why it is stir fried. The beef is cooked with onions, tomatoes, and fries. The dish is served with rice. Beef, potatoes, and rice is the foundation of a great dish. I had the chance to try lomo saltado for the first time many years ago, and I instantly fell in love. Rico Sabor Peruano is not the top result when searched, but a professional Yelper like myself could tell that it was probably the best choice. Once I walked into the restaurant, I knew I made the right choice. Rico Sabor Peruano evokes East LA vibes. The interior was not great, and the employee didn't speak English. I knew I was about to have one of the greatest meals of my life. After stumbling through the order with my early intermediate Spanish (Duolingo-level Spanish with a thick Gringo accent), I excitedly waited for my meal. The food was cooked in a reasonable amount of time, and the employee even proactively brought a bottle of hot sauce. How did she know? I'm happy to report that Rico Sabor Peruano perfectly lived up to my very high expectations. I'll definitely return for the lomo saltado. I may also try some of the great value dishes that other diners mentioned. The lomo saltado was worth every dime, but it still cost ~$20.

Today I had the Aguadito for my soup and for the rice I had the Seco de Pollo. The value is incredible. Give it a go here and you will not be disappointed. LOL Mambo's Cafe is located in Buford, Ga which is Northeast of Atlanta. When we entered the restaurant after our 5k, we were seated immediately and I will say Im glad we showed up when we did, because when we left people were everywhere waiting to be seated. So, Our waitress was amazing, she didnt miss a beat all the questions we had, she answered! We started off a complementary garlic bread with a Verde sauce. It was green with a pinch of spicy, but it was very good. Next, we ordered the beef empanadas and they cut them up for us so that everybody could sample them. They were so good. I had to get an order to go to take them home to my husband. For my drink, I ordered a pink lemonade. It was almost like I needed some sugar and I knew that would hit the eight spot even though it was carbonated it still was good. For the main train I went with ANGUS CHURRASCO STEAK!! Medium well of course! Wowwwwww!! This steak was top-tier. I enjoyed every bit of it, and what I could eat. Of course, I had to take the rest of them. It came with an option of beans I went with black beans plantains in a Spanish rice, which was amazing. The chimichurri sauce that came on the steak was was flavorful yeah, I even asked for some to take home and verde sauce as well. Lol The steak was tender outside skirt steak grilled and topped with our famous chimichurri sauce (garlic, fresh herbs and olive oil). $28 My entire bill with $58 including the takeout empanadas I will most definitely be going back. I enjoyed every minute of this restaurant.
