The food was pretty good. It wasn't hard to find parking on a Saturday afternoon. The lot is small and you have to pay to park per the kiosk. This restaurant has an upstairs and downstairs with a good amount of seating. The servicer were very friendly. My favorite was the empanadas (beef and chicken). The smoked chicken was a little dry but it still had good flavor. The beans and rice were good too.

Great food prepared quickly and with flavor! Not a whole lot of searing indoors but there is some outdoor seating as well.

I've been here a handful of times and I'd go more if I wasn't a broke college student! This place is worth every penny. I like the environment of the restaurant; the music and the options of upstairs, downstairs, or outside is nice. The food is always great in taste and presentation. The servers are good but they can disappear because of the different levels. :( Definitely recommend trying it out if you're in the Athens area!

I have been wanting to try this place since I moved here in 2020. Finally did today and was so excited because they make mofongo and chicharones like in Puerto Ricans do. Delicious and cute inside. The server was sweet and I loved the latin music. My husband's fish tacos and rice and beans were yummy too. Can't wait to go back!!!! So happy to have this in Athens.

I absolutely love Punta Cana Latin Grill. We come here pretty often and really enjoy the small family atmosphere. From the shrimp mofongo, empanadas, and mojitos, everything is delicious! The service is always great and we get our food pretty fast, even on Fridays. This is gem tucked in a small corner in Athens, but I highly recommended giving this palace a try. Especially if you love any type of Spanish food.

Great Latin Cuisine in Athens, Georgia! On a business trip and I consulted the local Yelp community to see what was near my hotel and had some positive offerings. PUNTA CANA was only .3 miles away and had some good reviews. My request for Parcha brought surprise to my friendly server's face but Edwin said why of course we do have Passion Fruit. Homerun, right off the bat. As I looked over the menu I spotted the Churrasco dish which came to my specified temperature, plantains, salad with avocado, red beans and white rice. The meat was flavorful and tender and I enjoyed every bite. My only regret was not being able to finish and having to decide between the flan and the guava empanadas! This eatery is cozy, friendly and has a full bar. If you are in Athens, stop in and enjoy one of the House Margaritas for $3.99!

This place was better the second time we ate here. We took our niece and her family for an early dinner before a UGA basketball game. As we walked in one of the servers told us about the Dominican pizza. Our table started with drinks and my wife and niece split a small pitcher of house margarita. They both really enjoyed the fresh made margarita. For a table appetizer we ordered the large Bandeja Tradicional platter. Loaded with sausages, cheeses, and plantains. Everyone enjoyed the platter and just the right amount of food for our table. For entrees my niece got the pizza, and the other child got the fish tacos. Both were excellent. The adults got the Bandeja Punta Cana platter for two. It came with smoked ribs, skirt steak with chimichurri, fried tostones, and yuca fries. Everything was delicious. A great dining experience with great service.

This is great authentic restaurant. I honestly am struggling with writing this review because this restaurant is not everyone's cup of tea. However, if you are into trying new foods in different cultures this is definitely a place for you. I'm a very strict at reviewing but I honestly feel like this please deserves five stars. It's a total hole in the wall, hidden from everyone, nevertheless, this restaurant has almost perfect reviews. Not to mention all the competition that is in Athens! It's just a really good authentic restaurant. I would not go here if you're squeamish, or if you don't like eating meat that much as most of their meals revolve around meat. I would definitely go here, but go in with an open mind. It's different, that's all!

The best Dominican food I have ever had! A great environment and excellent service. More than satisfactory experience! Reasonably priced. Would recommend. La mejor comida Dominicana que he comido jamás! Ambiente alegre y excelente servicio. Más que satisfactoria experiencia! Precios razonables. Lo recomendaré!

Must say, this was a pleasant surprise and not just the food you see. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The food was fresh and right off the stove/grill. Adult beverage was perfect. Definitely will be coming back. Now I just wish we could try the owners homemade muscles, but we found out they weren't on the menu...yet I hope ;) Thank you Punta Cana team!!!

It's counter service--you order at the register, find a seat (there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating), and they'll bring your food out. I ordered the fish taco combo, which came with two fish tacos, yuca fries, and a canned drink. The tacos were good, but I wasn't a huge fan of the menu changes. Everything is a combo now, and I was told I couldn't order the tacos by themselves. I wish they'd bring back the à la carte option because I'd rather try a few different things than be locked into one meal. The yuca fry portion was also smaller than I expected--I only got about five fries. Overall, it's still a spot I'd recommend if you're visiting Athens since it's been a local favorite for so long. I just left a little less impressed than I remember being the last time I was here.

Literally a hidden gem of a find in downtown Greenville…read more.. We only found this place by visiting the Greenville Drive team store on a Saturday afternoon. Decided to check it out for dinner on a Friday night and was shocked it was so empty. It's only a matter of time before this place fills up! I'm assuming baseball season will have this spot packed. This is the second location (original is on woodruff rd). If you look up the other location- they have fabulous reviews and rightfully so. They have daily specials, lunch specials and happy hour! A DJ on Saturday afternoons as well as brunch. We sat at the bar and Vanessa took great care of us. She gave us great recommendations. I love that they make their own drink mixes! It makes all the difference in quality. We tried a mango mojito and Pisco passion. Both were yummy! Pisco passion is strong fyi. The mood for something filling/delicious was fulfilled and then some! We both got mofongos which come with your choice of plantains: sweet, green or trifongo. We only tried the trifongo with roasted pork (which was amazing) but our favorite was the shrimp al ajillo (garlic shrimp). For the record- last time I had mofongo this good & flavorful I was in Puerto Rico. Safe to say we LOVED everything about both dishes. Still thinking about the garlic sauce with the shrimp! Chefs kiss! And the crispy pork belly pieces on top of the plantains that just melt in your mouth! The Ribeye steak board was recommended by a local (also dining at the the bar). He RAVED about the steak and the sides it comes with. Apparently only this location has a magical creamed corn dish as one of the sides for the all steak boards. Will be back to see how magical it really is! Ambiance is hip & fun with a splash of casual elegance. Great for a family dinner, date night, girls night- whatever. The only downside to planning your visit here is the parking. No private lot & street parking is scarce. I believe there's a garage across the street? The food, drinks & service will make the parking situation worth it. Planning on coming back to try their brunch. Cannot wait!

If you come to a Dominican restaurant and order a quesadilla and fries I'm sorry you are an idiot and know nothing about the culture or what to eat. So the ambiance. Is it a 5 star restaurant? No. Stop complaining about what they have to wipe your hands in the bathroom. If you are looking for a fine dining experience then go to Midtown. It's small, the music is LOUD at night and it gets crowded. If you don't like that vibe then go somewhere else. I've been to eat during the day when it's pretty empty and at night when it's packed. Service has always been good with longer waits if you go when there is a concert or an event at night. The food....very good. The only Dominican food I've had that is better has been food my wife cooked, my mother in law cooked or food in the Heights in New York. Definitely the most authentic Dominican spot here in Atlanta. The picadera is SO GOOD. Their beans taste just as good as what I get at home. My wife loves the Mondongo which is hard to make. Rabo is good so are the bistecs, the chuletas and the chicken I've eaten. I haven't tried the Mangu but my wife says it's good and she makes it AMAZING. I've said this before on reviews and will say it again. You have people expecting to get food like DR. Sorry people but we aren't in DR. We aren't in Washington Heights. I heard ownership has changed, making me question if that's why this experience took place vs very different experiences in the past. At that point, I used to constantly order lunch from here and do large catering orders for house parties of 50-80+ people. This created such a terrible taste, it will be the last time I order with them. I hope to see they do better and don't permanently ruin what was once so great.
