Papaya Salad

The food was mid, honestly not authentic. Definitely catered to Americans or westerners with no real palate. Tried all the Thai restaurants in Athens, this one was the most pleasing but still low-mid tier. The som tum wasn't spicy even when asked for spicy (Falang spicy). It also wasn't flavorful, just tasted sweet and sour (no umami flavor). The service was okay. The ambience was fine too, but didn't enjoy the food at all. But $9 for a papaya salad that I could eat in one bite ... crazy. I've also never seen a pale papaya salad ever. EVER.

Appetizer Sampler A

My favorite Thai place in the whole wide world! They truly have the best pad see ewe!! Their Tom Yum soup is also incredible and their pad woon sen is too! I always have to get their appetizer sampler because the kiew tod, dumplings, and spring rolls are so perfect! And the peanut sauce is amazing! If you want good Thai food, this should be the first place you go.

One of the decent Thai places in and around Athens is Siri Thai. Their tea is pretty amazing and the food selection is pretty good with a lot of vegetarian options. I recommend this place!

Ordered Moo Yang but got Gai Yang

My family came here because we thought it was a part of SriThai kitchen and Sushi. But it wasn't. The spring rolls that came with the entrees were sooo dry. They're filled with ground chicken, clear glass noodles and carrots. They were served with a side of spring roll sauce, that was literally enough for 1 dip. The chicken pad thai was good. I ordered Moo Yang off their dinner menu and got Gai Yang. The chicken was burnt and the dipping sauce was ok. I didn't care for the vegetables that came with it. The rice that came with it wasn't fresh (Probably from the day before) The papaya salad here was pretty good though. I always order mild papaya salad and they come out too spicy, but the spice level here was correct. My husband ordered the pho here and Lad Na to go. He enjoyed them both.

Tropical Fried Rice with shrimp

This restaurant is one of the most underrated restaurants in Athens. I have been here at least 5 times in 2021 and I always have a great experience. The tropical fried rice with maximum spice level is my go-to. It's perfect for a date, because it's often pretty empty so you can actually hear your date. It's also good for big groups as you can hear everyone at your table without having to yell. The service is great and there is rarely ever a wait if at all. Which is really nice if you are trying to escape the busyness of downtown Athens where there is often a line at most places. Parking is also never a problem as there is a huge lot just outside. I think the menu also has something for everyone, including those who aren't familiar with Thai food and those who have a low spice tolerance. I can't recommend this place enough!

Pad Thai and Pad See Ewe

First things first, the food tastes amazing! It's perfect if you're craving some Thai food. Their portions are pretty big, so if you have leftovers eat it the next day. Service was amazing because they gave us our food and drinks pretty fast. I went there around 4, so it was empty but overall amazing restaurant in Athens!!

Tofu Delight
Tien B.

The area was nice and clean. We were sat at a booth that came with soft and comfy seat mattress. We ordered water, panang curry, tofu delight (which it was called something else in the menu), and rice pudding. We got our entrees pretty quick during lunch rush on a Tuesday. I absolutely loved the tofu delight! It wasn't too sweet or sour. I don't like meat so I would recommend this if you're not a meat-eater. My friend enjoyed his panang and says it's the only thing he will get here (he's never tried anything else besides that). Both came with hot, fluffy rice on the side. For desert, we go the taro rice pudding for this cold, windy day and it was delicious! Cold creamy coconut on hot bed of sweet rice with taro chunks definitely warmed us up! Next time I go, I really want to try their italian sodas. Would recommend!

Yellow Curry with Fried Tofu

Great food, had no issue with picking it up and the restaurant is in a nice location. Lady was straightforward and handed me my food. Very tasty food with better prices than the other thai restaurants in Athens if you order through yelp.

Pad Thai Noodle (Chicken)
Kellis N.

The restaurant is well decorated with a cozy vibe. The pad thai was mediocre but very wet. At the end of it there was a pool of diluted sauce at the bottom, it's as if the noodles were not properly drained after cooking. The Tom yum noodle soup was extremely bland and had no resemblance to the original soup. The broth resembled chicken broth but tasted like hot lime water. There were also red pepper flakes thrown atop. I asked for level 4 spice, but the soup wasn't spicy at all. I was disappointed in my experience to say the least and I likely would not return back.

One of the more underrated restaurants! It's very authentic and makes you feel as if you took a step out of Athens. They play some really nice music and you feel immersed into the restaurant. Definitely a good spot to meet up with some friends or colleagues or even a cute date spot. I ordered the Pad See Ewe with vegetables and I was pleasantly delighted. I got a pretty large serving for a relatively decent price. Each bite was soaked with flavor and was truly some of the yummiest Thai I've had in Athens. Everything was so perfectly cooked and flavored. The servers were super sweet and the overall experience was a 10/10! I can't wait to be back!

Lovely little spot, I wish I lived closer to visit more often!…read more I am a fiend for Thai food, it's one of my favorite cuisines so I'm always happy to try a new spot on my radar. Truly, I am skeptical about trying Asian foods that aren't in metro Atlanta but Thai Spoon impressed me! I visited on a Sunday after opening , I was sat quickly and got to enjoy my meal within 15ish minutes. Quick service and my waiter was very nice! The drunken noodles were light on flavor and a little spicy, I wish it was more spicy and more flavorful but I think it suits the area and it might be just me. The portion is pretty big and very filling, I wish there was a bit more noodle but the veggies and chicken made up for it. I would love order this again next time I visit. Mango sticky rice would be my final meal if it were up to me. That being said, this place made a beautiful plate of my beloved. I just wish there was more rice!!! The mango was delicious and beautiful, great size with it being non mango season. Would love to order this again too! Clearly, this restaurant has all of my favorite Thai dishes in one place so I had to get a Thai iced coffee. It was perfectly sweet and strong, I'm daydreaming about it right now actually Thai Spoon fulfilled my Thai cravings for now, and they will see me again when I'm in the area! I wish I had found it sooner.

My partner and I decided to try Tani Thai 02.20.2026 and stopped by around 6:30PM for dinner…read more First off, the interior seemed clean and well-kept. The ambiance was dark and intimate, which I appreciated -- it gave the space a cozy, relaxed vibe that felt nice for a dinner date. The music was low and soft, which worked well since most of the tables were talking pretty loudly. It didn't feel chaotic or overstimulating, and we were still able to have a comfortable conversation. Service was decent -- we were seated quickly and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Here's what we ordered: Tiger's Tears ($15) - 3/5 This was the dish I was most excited about. It's described as grilled beef with chili-lime seasoning, onions, scallions, and sweet peppers. Unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. The beef was noticeably tough, chewy, and a bit sinewy rather than tender and juicy. The chili-lime sauce was very sharp and aggressively acidic -- overwhelmingly sour to the point where it masked the savory, char-grilled flavor of the meat. It was supposed to be spicy, but as an Asian who regularly eats and enjoys spicy food, there was barely any heat at all. The dish looked vibrant and colorful, but flavor-wise it felt unbalanced and slightly one-dimensional. Basil Fried Rice with Chicken ($18) - 2.5/5 The menu labeled this as spicy as well, but again, there was zero kick. Not even a subtle warmth. It tasted like very standard, plain fried rice -- mildly seasoned, slightly oily, and lacking depth. The fresh Thai basil aroma wasn't very pronounced, and the overall flavor felt muted and underwhelming. The chicken was okay texture-wise, but the dish as a whole didn't stand out or justify the price point. It needed more heat, more fragrance, and more boldness to feel like true Thai basil fried rice. Coconut Mushroom Soup with Chicken ($5.50) - 2/5 This one was disappointing. When it first arrived, it was comforting and creamy with a light coconut aroma. Initially, it tasted balanced and mildly savory. However, as it sat and I alternated between dishes, the flavor became increasingly sour and slightly off-putting. The chicken was extremely dry, stringy, and overcooked, which made it difficult to enjoy. The broth lacked the rich, silky depth I was hoping for and ended up tasting thin, overly acidic, and somewhat flat. Thai Teas ($5.50 each) - 3.5/5 Honestly, these saved the night. Sweet, creamy, and refreshing -- exactly what you expect from a good Thai tea. Smooth, well-balanced, and flavorful. Water - 0/5 I took one sip and didn't touch it again. It tasted like straight tap water with a faint cleaning solution scent. Thankfully, we had the Thai Teas to rely on. Overall, the experience was okay but not memorable. The atmosphere and ambiance were pleasant, but the food didn't quite deliver -- especially considering how Thai cuisine is typically bold, aromatic, spicy, and layered. For us, the dishes leaned either too sour or too bland, without much balance in between. Given the prices, we were expecting more depth and stronger flavors. Not a terrible experience, but not one we'd rush back for either.

This is a review in two parts - I was pleasantly surprised…read moreto drive by and see a Thai restaurant I wasn't aware of in a town I visit monthly. Part 1: There just aren't a lot of good restaurants in Greensboro that I've found (outside the Reynolds area), so when it comes to a Greensboro sit-down restaurant, this place is a great option for a clean, attractive dining room with tasty food that beats much in the area. For a town like Greensboro, it is a 4 star restaurant. Part 2: I love Thai food. My wife's family is Thai so I am spoiled having my mother in law making the best Thai food ever. Moreover, we regularly eat at Thai restaurants at least weekly. As far as Thai restaurants go, I'd give the restaurant 2.5 stars. It is simply too bland (and Americanized) to compete with great Thai spots. Serving size wasn't great either. That is why I am saying 3 stars overall. Maybe 3.5. It's great for Greensboro but not on par with other Thai food I've experienced.

The pineapple fried rice and traditional Thai iced tea were simply amazing in terms of flavor and taste. My parents also ordered the pad Thai, which was equally delectable. The service at Lamai Ban Thai Kitchen was consistently attentive and professional. The young lady who served us last night was particularly noteworthy. Not only was we very well-cared for, but we also felt like we were part of a welcoming business establishment. If you're seeking the finest Thai cuisine in Greene County or the Lake Oconee area, Lamai Ban Thai Kitchen is an absolute must-visit!
