Chicken Meatballs in Dill Sauce, Potato Pancake, Pork Cutlet - Smaller Pork Cutlet, Stuffed Cabbage with Meat

I was craving Polish food so I headed on over to Greenpoint. I picked Polka dot because it was super affordable and I like to try a mix of dishes instead of Just one dish. I had an assortment of food since I've only tried Polish food twice before. Like the review before, it's a deli style setup where you order at the counter and they bring it to you if you choose to stay. I personally would suggest looking up the menu beforehand online and choosing what you want before coming in because there's no centralized menu in store and the food is behind glass around the store with little signs and there's tables blocking part of the counter where food is stored and labeled. Also service wasn't bad to me it's just short and to the point, so don't expect over the top hospitality. Also it is true they do microwave everything to order if you get it to stay which isn't my favorite thing but everything was still super delicious and flavorful the only item I wasn't a fan of was the pork cutlet. The chicken meatballs had a savory yet lemony flavor with savory dill sauce that complimented that potato pancake perfectly. I would 100% come back again and try out some different options and if you're not a fan of your food going in the microwave just take it to go and heat up accordingly at home!

Polka Dot is incredible. It is located in the heart of Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York City. We were craving pierogis and ended up dining here. The menu features an assortment of different types of pierogis, including sauerkraut and mushroom. You can also purchase fried fish, pork cutlet, and homemade sausages. We ordered quite the spread. They also have homemade iced tea and kombucha. The prices are reasonable, and the staff could not have been any friendlier.

Came in for an early dinner stop. So many tasty items on display but we ordered: - 2 types of super authentic Polish Pierogies (potato and sauerkraut- I liked the sauerkraut a bit more) - Carrot Salad with raisins (so simple, so good. My aunt made this salad growing up and although it wasn't quite as good as hers (no biases whatsoever :P), it was definitely up there) - vegan goulash - so hard to find a vegan version and it was super hearty and tasty. Ambiance is casual and set up for a quick bite, and the man running the counter was very nice. Can definitely tell it's a family owned business. Would definitely be down to come back and try more veggie dishes.

I haven't had food like this since last time I was in Poland! The woman at the counter was very nice she told me she wasn't from Poland, but her Polish was perfect! Pierogi we're soon good with the onions, and i've missed pyzy so much! I brought my friends here to try polish food and it didn't disappoint! The place inside was so cute felt like I was in Zakopane!

It was my first time eating Polish food. It was delicious. I was surprised and happy that the fried fish was similar to Korean fish pancakes. The kuwing pukki and pierogi were delicious. Next time I go to Greenpoint, I definitely want to stop by and try other menus.

Trendy Polish Cafe in Hipster Greenpoint area. I never have polish food before but it was good. You can pick what you want to try. There are all line up for you to choose. Service was easy and friendly. I'm glad there is still local place who still keep their identity of Polish town in Greenpoint.

When walking around Greenpoint, you expect certain things. Finding good Polish food is one of them. I literally stumbled upon Polka Dot, when I was walking to my car from a nail appointment. I thought from the outside, it was a kid's store for some reason, but then the menu posted on the window got my attention. This is a really cute place to grab something hot and savory and get your fill of some good home Polish cooking! I was really a bit overwhelmed at first what to get, and was a little panicked since I only heard Polish being spoken. How will I order?! I did just fine - nothing beats the power of pointing and head nodding. I settled for two servings of red borscht that I helped myself to from the fridge in the back of the place. I had originally asked for sauerkraut and mushroom pieorgis (my absolute FAVORITE) but got potato and cheese instead. They were pretty good, and were YUM when I added them into my borscht. Hubby LOVED them; zero complaints from him. The borscht was pretty good as well, but I can't say this is the BEST I've ever had; pretty close though. Looking forward to coming back and giving the stuffed cabbage or the kielbasa a go!

This adorable little Polish restaurant and take out counter has some of the most delicious food in NY. Polka Dot has been in business for 25 years, and the family run business has really taken Polish cuisine to the next level by adding Vegan options such as goulash, stuffed cabbage, soups, Pierogis. Never fear, you can find all the sausages you want as well!

Super cute polish cafe in Brooklyn. Great variety of food! Everything was tasty and the staff were really helpful for giving us first-timers a taste of their more popular dishes.

Delicious and well-labeled vegan options, a godsend for vegans in Greenpoint. The vegan bigos, goulash, and stuffed cabbage are perfect.

We were the only people in the restaurant the entire time, though there were a few delivery orders. The restaurant has a homey interior, with callouts to their historic presence in Bay Ridge. We ordered the chicken klopsiki ($15.65) and the Hungarian pancakes ($20). Each dish comes with a house salad, which consists of red cabbage, sauerkraut, cole slaw, beets, shredded carrots, and lettuce. The salad had nice flavors and tasted fresh! I really enjoyed the chicken klopsiki, which is a chicken meatball. The meatball was moist, and the sauce had a nice flavor, like chicken soup. The only downside was that the mashed potatoes had no flavor and tasted like powdered mashed potatoes. I liked the flavor of the Hungarian pancakes, but the ratio of pancake to filling was heavily skewed toward the pancake, which was just fried potato with minimal flavor. Therefore, I would pass on the pancakes and just get the goulash if I decided to return. Service was okay. When I asked the server for recommendations, she wasn't enthusiastic, but I was asking generally, and I could have been more specific. She left during our meal, and we had to call someone to give us the check. So after giving us the food, service was nonexistent. Overall, I liked some parts of the dishes, but nothing was so amazing that I would be itching to return again!

Once stepping into the store, you are met with large freezers and fridges stuffed to the brim with all things Ukrainian. Many of their dumpling items are in large packages (2-3lbs a pack) and range from $8-$15 per lb depending on the filling. $15 a pound for their lamb and short rib Pierogis. Price-wise, it's very fair! And you can taste to quality and heart they put into these Pierogis. Can't go wrong with any flavor. I got the lamb and it was stuffed with tender lamb pieces, no filler. And they make for great quick meals! I also snagged a box of cabbage rolls stuffed with a pork and rice filling. Simple home-y flavor and better than rolls I've gotten from restaurants. Just reheat and it's ready to go! $15 for 5 large cabbage rolls was a great deal as well! Would get again. The only thing I wouldn't get again is their soup dumplings, as it was a bit difficult to cook and was a little too doughy near the top of the dumpling. Flavor wise, it was delicious and had a nice broth (assuming you didn't pop them. Only 1 didn't pop). But it was a difficult item to cook right in boiling water, like the instructions mention. Perhaps, user error. Every item is sold by weight and labeled after selecting your items. But they're happy to check the weight/explain price before purchasing.
