A friend recommended I go here and I kinda kick myself for not going sooner. I will say I don't know much about Polish food. What i did like about this place is that it's not super expensive and portions are small. Since I don't know much about Polish food, I got to order a few dishes, try a little bit of everything I wanted and not break the bank. At first I thought because the portions were small that it wasn't gonna fill me up but I was wrong. I left full and happy. My wallet was happy too. My favorite was the fried fish and the pork bigos. I'll definitely be back. read more

I really wanted to like this spot! Stumbled upon this spot in Greenpoint and came in for a bite. It's a homey spot and appreciate it's homemade food. It reminds me a bit of a deli. It's probably good for getting food to-go and bringing it home to heat up yourself, as well as trying and sampling many small dishes. I wouldn't recommend eating here as much given there are few tables and everything is microwaved to order. I thought the service was not very inefficient and it took a very long time to get orders in as the staff would finish microwaving each order before taking the next. Items were often not labeled with names or pricing, and the staff were not very friendly and got the order wrong (but still charged for it). Food-wise, it was reasonable value but nothing in particular really stood out. I was mostly disappointed as the food was also still cold in certain spots when I received it, despite doing a couple spins in the microwave. It could be a better experience with a more powerful microwave perhaps. read more

Happened here on a Sunday morning with the hopes they'd be open earlier than their advertised time. BINGO! They were! I was so happy! After Sunday morning donuts at Peter Pan, Polka Dot would be next on my list as I had only ever heard good things about them. I just had to experience them for myself. Inside is cozy and quaint. I didn't intend on dining in so we took a nice big order to go. In their fridges and hot display, they had prepackaged foods ready to be taken home and piping hot, steaming dishes. Everything smelled fabulous. The counter person was lovely. My "tap to pay" wasn't working and the only cash I had on me (just maybe shy of a buck or two) she accepted by removing the tax. She didn't have to do that at all but she was helpful and insisted upon it. She even allowed us to have a sample of something I was curious about tasting. An assortment of Pierogies, Pickle Soup, Sauerkraut, Potato Pancakes, White Sausage. WE GOT IT ALL! We could've gotten so much more but I had to show some sort of constraint. We made dinner that night, courtesy of Polka Dot, and couldn't have felt more satiated. Run - don't walk! Get yourself a meal (or take home 5). HIGHLY RECOMMEND. read more

I was craving Polish food so I headed on over to Greenpoint. I picked Polka dot because it was super affordable and I like to try a mix of dishes instead of Just one dish. I had an assortment of food since I've only tried Polish food twice before. Like the review before, it's a deli style setup where you order at the counter and they bring it to you if you choose to stay. I personally would suggest looking up the menu beforehand online and choosing what you want before coming in because there's no centralized menu in store and the food is behind glass around the store with little signs and there's tables blocking part of the counter where food is stored and labeled. Also service wasn't bad to me it's just short and to the point, so don't expect over the top hospitality. Also it is true they do microwave everything to order if you get it to stay which isn't my favorite thing but everything was still super delicious and flavorful the only item I wasn't a fan of was the pork cutlet. The chicken meatballs had a savory yet lemony flavor with savory dill sauce that complimented that potato pancake perfectly. I would 100% come back again and try out some different options and if you're not a fan of your food going in the microwave just take it to go and heat up accordingly at home! read more

Polka Dot - Chicken Meatballs in Dill Sauce, Potato Pancake, Pork Cutlet - Smaller Pork Cutlet, Stuffed Cabbage with Meat - Polish Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Polka Dot is incredible. It is located in the heart of Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York City. We were craving pierogis and ended up dining here. The menu features an assortment of different types of pierogis, including sauerkraut and mushroom. You can also purchase fried fish, pork cutlet, and homemade sausages. We ordered quite the spread. They also have homemade iced tea and kombucha. The prices are reasonable, and the staff could not have been any friendlier. read more

PURCHASED: Dumplings TOTAL: $7 + change PROS: + Homemade Polish food: + Cute girl: There was a super cute, nice girl that was serving the register. She was super nice too; she gave me an extra serving of dumplings. + Great dinning space: There were a few tables in there. All could fit 2-4 people. There was a bench by the window that you could sit at and people watch. (This is common in most restaurants you'll visit around Greenpoint, Brooklyn). CONS: - Nothing IMPRESSION: Totally awesome. Go visit. It's also across the street from the famous Peter Pan donut spot. read more

Came in for an early dinner stop. So many tasty items on display but we ordered: - 2 types of super authentic Polish Pierogies (potato and sauerkraut- I liked the sauerkraut a bit more) - Carrot Salad with raisins (so simple, so good. My aunt made this salad growing up and although it wasn't quite as good as hers (no biases whatsoever :P), it was definitely up there) - vegan goulash - so hard to find a vegan version and it was super hearty and tasty. Ambiance is casual and set up for a quick bite, and the man running the counter was very nice. Can definitely tell it's a family owned business. Would definitely be down to come back and try more veggie dishes. read more

It was my first time eating Polish food. It was delicious. I was surprised and happy that the fried fish was similar to Korean fish pancakes. The kuwing pukki and pierogi were delicious. Next time I go to Greenpoint, I definitely want to stop by and try other menus. read more

Service is pretty slow just due to low staffing, but the food is cheap and amazing. I ordered a little of everything (salad, pierogi, croquette, latkes and borsch) and it was all fantastic. Very authentic (they even sell a polish newspaper!) read more

Cute place in Greenpoint to get Polish food. It's reliable and quick. Food is decent and it has a lot of vegetarian/vegan options if that's your thing. The potato pancakes were my favorite. read more

Great location across from Peter Pan Donuts and great food within! We went there for the first time for lunch recently. The window display draws you into this combination deli & restaurant. The space is very nicely decorated and the overall atmosphere is calming. There was so much to choose from but I eventually settled on a homemade potato pancake (with apple!) and a giant piece of breaded chicken cutlet pounded thin. Definitely coming back soon... read more

When walking around Greenpoint, you expect certain things. Finding good Polish food is one of them. I literally stumbled upon Polka Dot, when I was walking to my car from a nail appointment. I thought from the outside, it was a kid's store for some reason, but then the menu posted on the window got my attention. This is a really cute place to grab something hot and savory and get your fill of some good home Polish cooking! I was really a bit overwhelmed at first what to get, and was a little panicked since I only heard Polish being spoken. How will I order?! I did just fine - nothing beats the power of pointing and head nodding. I settled for two servings of red borscht that I helped myself to from the fridge in the back of the place. I had originally asked for sauerkraut and mushroom pieorgis (my absolute FAVORITE) but got potato and cheese instead. They were pretty good, and were YUM when I added them into my borscht. Hubby LOVED them; zero complaints from him. The borscht was pretty good as well, but I can't say this is the BEST I've ever had; pretty close though. Looking forward to coming back and giving the stuffed cabbage or the kielbasa a go! read more

Absolutely amazing. The spot has been here for 27 years I believe. They've got something for everybody. Healthy too! Staff is always very kind. If you eat there it feels like a family dining room - in a cozy way. Whenever I go I want to buy as much as I can to bring home with me. A Greenpoint staple for me. read more

Unfortunately it was closed, I'm afraid it might be permanently. We got there at about 2 pm on a weekday. Sad.

This adorable little Polish restaurant and take out counter has some of the most delicious food in NY. Polka Dot has been in business for 25 years, and the family run business has really taken Polish cuisine to the next level by adding Vegan options such as goulash, stuffed cabbage, soups, Pierogis. Never fear, you can find all the sausages you want as well! read more

Greenpoint has really great food, and Polka Dot is testament to that. I happened to be in the neighborhood, and I saw that this place serves Polish food (which I love). They serve different Polish dishes in a price per pound format. I got the potato and cheese pierogi, duck roll, and bigos. Because it's price/pound, my food was really cheap. I only paid $6.20! The duck roll was a little dry, but it was seasoned well. I enjoyed the bigos a lot, and the pierogi was my favorite part. The place has really cute decor, but the only reason why I didn't give them 5 stars is because I felt like the girl in the front could have been nicer! I asked for a menu and she just gestured to the food and was like "you can just look here!" To be fair, she could have thought it would be easier for me if I saw it versus reading it, but I like menus. Anyways, I would def come back. read more

Blown away by just how flavorful everything is here. I'm not even vegan but the vegan options are absolutely not playing games. Came for the borscht and naturally left with that plus a zucchini pancake and cabbage roll after seeing just the sheer variety of pre prepared and freshly hot foods they have. I wish I tried more! The. Borscht. Is. The. Best. I've. Tried. It may be one of my favorite dishes in Brooklyn. The broth is savory and sweet and the soup is loaded with carrots, potatoes and onions, along with beans if you get the Ukrainian style (they have others as well I can't wait to try. The zuchinni pancake was good - flavorful, but not crispy. The vegan cabbage roll was homey, a little vinegary, and absolutely stuffed with filling. Delectable. Greenpoint is home to a known polish community and if you haven't tried polish food yet - Polka dot is a must. If you have had polish food and love it - don't miss it. You'll find excellent versions of your favorites. The inside is quaint, small, and inviting, note there's no AC if you're planning a trip on the summer. read more

Best Polish food I ever had. I've had Eastern European food plenty of times, living in NYC my whole life. And this place takes the cake so far. Pierogi's were addicting. I ordered several meat ones and pan fried them when I got home, they were so tasty. They must have some secret seasonings because everything was bursting with flavor. The Bigo's was delicious; it's a sauerkraut salad with onion, carrot and bits of sausage. It had a little sweet and sour kick from some vinegar. I also ordered the Beef Krokiet which are seemingly stuffed with the same meat in the pierogi's. Last but not least, I purchased on entire link of Kielbasa, which I fried up when I got home. So delicious, the skin was tender and not tough. It was not overly salty and hopefully not preserved with anything. I should have asked, but it seemed very light for a sausage. I can't wait to return to this place. read more

This is the cutest Polish place ever! It's like you walked into your grandmother's kitchen. The seating space is a bit tight but it's cozy. They offer 3 flavors of pierogis, 2 of which are vegetarian so it was an exciting moment for me. They have so many homemade dishes to choose from, you can't go wrong. If I'm in the area again, I'll have to stop by. I've already told some friends about it, so go check it out! read more
