First time here. I just realized they charged me $60 for a very basic pedicure. My problem was the pedicure. Look, I've been getting my nails done since I was 10 years old back when there was no gel. I specifically asked for a pink French pedicure and she said she wouldn't do it because if I she uses his regular polish, it will "smear." I actually told her to just leave it without polish and I'll go somewhere else. It's my birthday. I'm paying for toenails that I actually want. Thankfully, Nana told her how to do it. I've also had much better $25 pedicures. There was no massage, hot stones, no hot towels, she barely scrubbed. It hard to justify $60 pedicure. I also had a broken toe and I asked for square shape toes. She said "This one can't be squared because it's broken." ??? OK, so you want me to have one round toe? And one square toe? So when I go out and have my feet out on my nice date, I'm gonna have one round toe, one square toe lol? I had to tell her if she could use gel or acrylic to fix it. I thought that would standard to fix it... maybe that's why it was $60? HOWEVER. Nana was amazing. It was my first time getting like a Russian/gel manicure. I was at a little over four weeks from a gel manicure and the edges were lifting up and driving me crazy! It had been a busy week, but it was an hour until closing, but I risked coming in to ask if someone had time to at least just do a gel removal. The front desk assured me that they had time for the removal AND a gel manicure! I was thrilled! I felt so bad coming in so close to closing! The tech who worked on my nails was SO quick. I wouldn't say she was overly warm or friendly, but she was effective and efficient. That's really all I needed! I'm not a patient person and that's usually why I avoid getting my nails done- I want to be in and out! My nails were done within 40 minutes and I was happily on my way home. I was able to schedule a last minute appointment for a Russian nail set with metallic polish finish. I don't know if there is a better description but the attention to my cuticles was amazing. I also like the pineapple scented oil applied on my hands at the end of the appointment. The price was on the high end, but I have never had a better nail experience. Only giving it two stars cause the front desk is kind and the woman I received my pedicure from was so detailed. The French tips are too thick and uneven. The white line is chunky, especially on the thumb and pointer, and the thickness changes from nail to nail. The shape is inconsistent. They're meant to be square, but some nails are more boxy, some flare outward, and some look slightly crooked from the sidewalls. The Cuticle area could be cleaner? The product/cuticle work looks a little messy on a few nails. Not terrible, just not super crisp. For 20$ more i recommend OH LA LA nails in Sherman oaks, they're consistent and they have experienced manicurists who specialize a bit more with the Russian technique and I can't believe I'm saying this but even the simplest things like a French manicure doesn't disappoint. (Can't say I've ever been disappointed with a French before but there's a first for everything) the technician I had seemed overwhelmed by the task, I imagine she was newer.. nonetheless maybe they could have given me a more experienced technician?.. in total I spent 218 before tip. I had sent an email to PMP after my service, but never received a response so unfortunately I gotta leave it here now. :( I was referred to this salon by a friend of mine who gets a lot of really cool and complicated designs done here, so I felt confident that they could accomplish the relatively simple design I wanted. I was leaving the next day to go out of town and I'm getting engaged on this trip, so these nails were pretty important because the photos we will be taking of the proposal will last a lifetime. I want to preface this by saying that the tech I had and the woman at the front desk are very very sweet and kind. And the tech did work very hard and wanted to make me happy, and I think she is a lovely person. I just feel like her skill level was not able to deliver what I was looking for, and the attention to detail was not as good as it could have been, as I had to keep asking her to fix things during the service. These nails really fell short of expectation. I had texted photos of what I was looking for prior to my appointment and was assured that they could do the design I wanted, but when it came time to do the gold line underneath the French tip, I learned that they don't carry the right supplies to do it so they would be painted free-hand instead. This meant that they wouldn't be as shiny, defined or as uniform in size as I wanted. The gold painted lines turned out almost as thick as the white on the French tip, which just looks weird and unbalanced. Also prior to adding the gold, the technician filed off the white French tip layer she had done first! This made no sense to me because it would make the sparkle look dull (the white had some glitter in it initially, and she had only done 1 opaque layer), filing it off now would take longer, and make the white not pop as well. Once the white was filed off and the gold was added, there was a very noticeable nude colored gap between the white and the gold, which just looked bad. I asked the tech to add another layer of white and to bring the white lines down lower so it touched the gold, which she did, but it still doesn't look right, and some nails still have a noticeable gap even after her trying to fix it. Also my cuticles were cut 4 times, making me bleed. She was pretty over enthusiastic with the amount of filing she did throughout the service, and it was pretty painful after a while. She filed my natural nails shorter initially (which I asked for), then she filed the gel-X tips after (normal), but then throughout the service she kept filing the sides of my nails again and again and again. I finally had to ask her to stop because it hurt too much. I dont understand why she kept dremeling my cuticles when clipping them would have sufficed, but when she finally did do some clipping because the cuticles she was trying to get off weren't coming off with the dremel, she kept stabbing me with the end of the cuticle clipper. All of it wouldn't have been so bad though without the frequent use of acetone on my fingers before she had even started on the design. :-/ I also don't understand why she would only paint 1-2 nails at a time, have me switch hands and put them under the UV light, then switch again over and over. Why not just paint every finger on that hand and then put it under the light?? This took up sooo much time and really felt unnecessary. I'm really not a person to complain, and I really didnt want to even say anything, but I really am disappointed by the quality of work that I received. I really do think the tech is a sweet girl, I just think she needs more training. The service cost me $125 (gel-X, French tip + design) and took THREE hours too, which was just waaaay too long. My appointment was at 11:30 and I didn't leave until 2:30. It made me late for an event I needed to go to. If I had more time I probably would have asked for her to fix the white/gold line issue, but by that point I was just too frustrated, antsy and late and had to go. I also felt that even if I had asked her to fix it, it still wouldn't look anything like what I wanted. She did ask me if I liked them when she was done, but I was resigned at that point so I said they were fine and left, but I didn't feel good about it. The nails are genuinely "fine," but when I look down at them all I can think about is how frustrated I am instead of thinking about how happy I'm going to be with an engagement ring on. :-( I don't need a refund and I am not asking for one, because I do feel that the tech should be paid fairly for her time and effort. I just wanted someone to know what happened. I ended up finding another salon once I left for my trip who fixed my nails for me and only charged me $25, and my nails were done in 30 minutes. :-/ read more

The woman doing my nails had no idea what she was doing -- it was like watching someone practice for the first time. She didn't know how to remove dip powder properly, kept burning my nails with the drill, and then resorted to using clippers to literally rip it off my natural nails. Completely unprofessional and painful. Stay far away from Susan. She has no business working on clients and should not be allowed to. The only saving grace was Maggy, who did my pedicure and did a good job -- but that doesn't make up for the disaster I walked out with. Worst manicure I've ever had. Appointment was booked for an hour. Took 15 min. All the manicurist did was dremel my cuticles. It was a totally dry manicure. The gel paint chipped and peeled after a couple of days. She was apathetic and rude and talked on her phone the whole time. The most diabolical part of the whole experience was when she barely applied cuticle oil to my cuticles, but then proceeded to rub it all over my forearms and hands. It was so greasy and gritty because it picked up all of the dust from my nails that she dremeled. She then told the woman at the desk that it was $65, even though I booked the $55 manicure, after I had given her a 20% tip in cash. After the charge went through, the woman at the desk said to her,"$65?" Even she knew it was the wrong price. I just let it go and left. I hated every minute of it from the dirty looks I received from another woman who worked there when I walked in the door, to the disappointment I felt after the whole experience. This was my last time coming here. My nail technician (Arevik) came in with a sour attitude and rushed the cuticle work and the gel manicure. I arrived on time but she still rushed the job and then had a terrible attitude and refused to fix her errors (bubble in gel and thick application). I specifically told her how I wanted my nails and she hurried off and told me too bad it's already done. Another nail technician (who was SO sweet) had to come in and fix my nails. When I was checking out, the receptionist had nothing to say about the nail technician's attitude and blatant refusal to finish her work. When I told them what my doctor said, they insisted it wasn't true instead of taking accountability. Polish Me Pretty is a spacious salon that has been consistently clean and cleaned during our appointments, the nail artists and staff members have always been so accommodating and kind, and the ambiance is very lovely and calming at the same time with good music playing and generally positive vibes. Amy (Armineh) is a fantastic artist who I consistently go to because of her unwavering style in designing my nails to perfection. She's a problem solver when she sees an impossible fix to a broken nail, she's quick, she's enthusiastic, and the gel nail polish never lifts. I've never experienced that with gel nails before! I also dabble in the Gel-X nails for special occasions when I really don't want to risk breaking a nail for that extra layer. I trusted her with my wedding day nails with this beautiful ivory color with very sheer light blue shimmer and she made me feel so special in the preparation the day before. She made the suggestion for my design (always does) and my nails lasted for over a month with not one rhinestone out of place, or any lift from my gel nail polish. Great experience at Polish me Pretty ! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the receptionist. The salon is clean, stylish, and has a calm, relaxing atmosphere. I got a gel manicure and a spa pedicure, and both turned out amazing. My nail techs were meticulous with shaping and cuticle care and took the time to make sure I was happy with the color and shape. The extra massage I asked  during the pedicure was chef's kiss just what I needed after a long week. Vivian is so detail-oriented and gave me what I asked for. She really took her time and did an amazing job. She's also super nice! I was very happy with the results. I removed the manicure over three weeks later and it had never chipped. I wish the salon made it more clear at the time of booking that they only accept cash for tips. Many people these days (including myself) don't regularly carry cash. Luckily I read the reviews and was prepared. Plenty of parking is available at the lot. read more

Three stars because their nail work is quite good - they can do nail art, designs, chrome etc that a lot of other places won't/can't do, and they offer GelX. Minus one star for PRICE - it is understandable of course to pay more if you are getting elaborate designs done, I have no issue with that. However, the last time I went I was charged $130 for a basic GelX fill with chrome powder on top (no nail art or anything like that.) At most places I have paid around $80 or less for a fill so this just seems exorbitant?? If money is no object for you then go for it but I personally cannot afford to pay $130 every few weeks for a fill. Minus one star for SERVICE - the front desk receptionists are often cold and give off a Mean Girl vibe like "you're not welcome here". They will act like you are annoying them by patronizing the business, even if you've been kept waiting nearly an hour past your original appointment time. I'm sorry but if a customer is spending well over $100 at your salon, they should not be treated like an annoyance. But again, their work is great. So go if you have tons of money to spend and don't mind feeling like you're back at a high school lunch table when you go to check in or pay for your service. read more
