I've been seeing Mi for dip manicures for almost three years now and she is truly incredible. She is thorough, attentive, and always makes me feel like I'm her favorite customer. I am extremely particular and she is the only nail tech I've kept a regular appointment with because she always delivers! I moved from the South Bay to the Valley and have kept my standing appointment with Mi - that's how good she is! For pedicures, Helen does a wonderful job. She's helped me feel put together and polished on my way back from injury, and always has the best attitude. Rude af front desk staff. Slimy business practice & unfortunately will not be coming back. I made an appointment day of early in the day for my friend and I to get pedicures so we show up to our appointment, sit down. Immediately are handed gel manicure colors. I exclaim oh that's a lil weird haha we just want regular color. They explain they'll get me the regular color I can pick gel. Ok..... Mind you this is my friends engagement nails and we come in with nothing but smiles on ready to chill n catch up. They immediately hand my friend the menu facing specifically with the $60+ deluxe pedicures on it, she picks a $60 one but I read it over and ask my friend if she wants to flip over the "menu" & pick a regular manicure for $30 something. She does. They start taking off my gel without my knowledge after I tell her that I can peel it off no problem, I don't mind (it was months old) she tries to offer me a deal that if I get a gel pedicure she won't charge me to take off the gel on my toes. I'm shocked because no where on this menu of sorts did I see a section explaining that gel costs extra to take off if I'm getting a pedicure. I'm met with "it's on the menu" from the front desk girl. I ask her to show me where. It's comical, she picks it up looking for it while I'm slightly laughing because .... Uhhh... oh... ok. So it's no where to be found? Gotcha. She says "well everyone knows it costs $ to take off gel, it's standard. And what do you want me to do?" I explain well for one, you could refund the charge. ??? Lol. it's $10. And I'm a customer? What? Lmfao. She says she can't do that. I laugh and express, "well you do all the billing at checkout yourself. It's not automated. But sure. I'll pay it its $10, like come on." All the while, other gals getting pedicures around us are looking around listening with peering eyes and a slight smile my way. Oh and after all of this happens the nail artist working on my friends nails without telling my friend that the "cat eye design" is an up charge, grabs the color and magnet whatever's needed for cat eye and paints my friends nail without her knowledge of really any of this going on and says, oh look how pretty. You like? We look it over, my friend agrees. And no where was any price increase verbally spoken or written on the so called "menu" for my friend to see. She gets to checkout with a high bill and says jeez I don't even know what exactly I paid for. I guess my manicure was almost $100. I'm blown.. hahaha. because obviously we picked this place for its atmosphere and I'd had a good experience years ago as my friend and I both grew up in MB thought we could trust this place. Clearly this place likes to run it like a circus and up charge with zero transparency or verbal communication and that's just lame as hell. The other girls in the shop listened to every word of this interaction and were fully present in it too. What a shame to be running such a slimy business practice that argues and shames their customers after trying to up charge them without their knowledge. Get real. read more

I only go here if I can get in with Jenny! This is a "location location" type of place with open air beach vibe and sparkling water but I have had mixed experiences with the many different receptionists. Jenny is my constant and why I go back. Always above and beyond. read more

I'm a huge fan of this nail salon and frequent it whenever I'm in the area... it is clean, beachy / breezy vibes, and mostly friendly service. The nail techs know what they are doing as well. On a recent visit, I popped in and was able to make same day pedicure appointments for me and my SIL. I find the prices are fair. This is a place on the more pricey side- but you get what you pay for. As a dancer my feet need all the extra help I can get. When I come here, the pedicures are so good, I can last at least 2 months before needing another one. My boyfriend and I were walking around the area killing time before checking into our Airbnb. We stopped here and were immediately sat down with no appointment which was amazing on a Sunday. Jenny and Nina took care of us and were so pleasant. Atmosphere was just as I'd hope for being so close to the beach. Everyone was so friendly! We walked by just a few days later and immediately were greeted and offered water. Coming from Vegas it was disappointing to see so many local businesses with crappy customer service, many places not even greeting you when you walk in but this salon was a great spot and we'll be back to say hi when we're in town again. read more

I never leave reviews. The woman at the front is the rudest person I've ever seen working at a nail salon. She gave a fake smile (and then turned and frowned), told us to wait inside rather than taking open seats, would not accommodate any people who came to the salon for nails that needed to be redone, and was overall so unfriendly. The pedicurists are quite nice and capable. They up sale a little too much for my taste but that's OK. Real issue is here the receptionist. Walked in for my appointment. She said I did not have one and that I failed to cancel my last one. Both untrue. In effect I felt like she was calling me a liar. Loudly. Said that she would waive the late cancellation fee this one time. I wasn't gratified. Petulance and high prices are not a winning combo. It's in my neighborhood and pay a premium to support N. Manhattan Beach businesses but not at the price of being treated rudely. read more

Nail tech are never able to do a deep French (I kept my hopes up every time). Nail techs are inexperienced and last time I went a few toe nails came off which I'm still waiting for them to grow back completely so I can go get a pedicure. read more

Such an amazing experience!!! These are my daughter's nails and she loves this place! Mi (one of the nail techs) was the kindest person at the salon. She is known as my daughter's mini best friend lol. If I could put more stars I would!! All in all such a great place! read more

Finally, I came here after driving past it for a few years. From the outside it's inviting. However, they are notorious for offering more services. Tried to convince me to choose another option after I firmly said I wanted the "classic". Up close, my manicure isn't that good, $25...I got a neck massage for 10 minutes at $15.00 (good). Beyond rude and horrible energy. I moved to El Porto and thought in a pinch let's try here... twice. First time I went in the girl was on the phone and before I said anything she said we are booked... what if I wanted another day?? No asking if there was another day I wanted.. just rude. I was in a hurry and thought maybe one employee having a bad day shouldn't divert me... no dice.. I walked in and another rude receptionist said come back in an hour if you want to book.. again I didn't even say what I wanted. Why do receptionist assume, and why do the workers look so sad??! This place is cute. I wanted to reshare my post as I had two accounts but also update since I do frequent this place often. I also recently jumped in to their massage studio across the street which was a 5/5, so please note the star adjustment. My sister in law, Gabi M (and brother, and nieces, nephews, and dogs) got me a gift certificate for my birthday and wow was I relaxed after this 90 minute massage. Scheduling was easy, the place is clean, and the therapist listened to what I said. All in all, the experience was great and I'd love to go back for some of their other treatments. In the past I had always gone to the nail salon that used to sit adjacent to them but clearly their modern vibe has pushed the smaller players out of town. While it's clean, friendly, and has a new age vibe, the cheapest manicure starts at $20.00.. something the other reviews didn't include. Not only that but day one my mani looked great and I'm sitting here typing this out on day 2 and I've already chipped! Now, understand I've got some serious baby nails so I'm a weekly salon goer. I needed a quick polish change so I came in here. Beautiful salon on Highland Ave close to the beach! Salon itself sml fresh, not like acrylic which I is good. The employees are dressed in the cutest outfits for the lunar New Year. The girl who did my polish change didn't seem to speak any English and barely smiled. They were out of my color so I chose another light pink by OPI. I'm not overly impressed so 3 stars. They could improve the vibe by being more welcoming. 3/3 I came in for a much needed manicure which was better this time despite the jackhammering outside. Very clean beautiful salon. read more

I hate to post a bad review, but at this point I felt I had to. I have been a loyal customer for a while, and I LOVE their pedicures and massages. The techs are very nice, and it's a nice environment. Which is why I kept coming back. But their manicures are terrible. Several times I've had gel done that has chipped within days, or was lumpy and uneven. So I stopped going for a long time and did my gel at home. You know a salon is bad when the gel I did at home was better and lasted longer than theirs. Well, last week I came back to try again because I had an extremely busy few weeks and I didn't have time to do my own. I did dip, because of my bad experiences with gel and so that it would last longer. And it chipped on MULTIPLE nails within 2 days. I cannot believe that. They offered to have me come in and fix it, but they weren't able to work around my schedule at all. I tried multiple times and none of them worked. When I customer has a terrible experience and has to take time out of their schedule for you to fix it, I really feel that they should have been able to work around my schedule, even a little! I'll just waste the money I paid for this terrible service and have it fixed somewhere else. They also didn't do my cuticles AT ALL on my mani or moisturize afterwards. So my nails were left SO DRY after the soak in acetone, and my cuticles were ragged. The pedicures have always been amazing, so I'm very disappointed that they can't get their manis to match. Also, the woman who works the desk on Sunday's is very unfriendly, always seems like she angry about something. So disappointed with this Gel manicure. The first time I went to Polish I had the best experience with Nívea. However she no longer works at this location and it's a shame. After this last visit I was so disappointed and dissatisfied with my gel manicure. It was not smooth at all and started chipping to next day. I was so upset I tried calling to speak to a manager or owner. I was offered an email and basically felt like I was shot out of luck. The receptionist stated that I could come back to get it fixed. Honestly I didn't even want to go back. I decided to go back a see if they would correct the disaster of what my nails had become. After checking in I asked the receptionist if I could choose a different color because maybe it was the polish that caused my nails to look lumpy. She said yes. When the nail tech came to redo my polish she first tried to tell me that I had to choose the same color and secondly when my nail chipped I should have come in right away. I told her I wasn't able to and I came as soon as I could. At that point I honestly wanted to leave and not even get my nails redone. But I already drove out of my way to get them fixed so I figured that the least she could do a do it right. Once the tech was finished she cleaned my nails with the warm towel and after they looked good for a hot second. By the next day once my nails are lumpy, the polish overall is not good and I have a big chunk of polish that broke off. So after all this am I suppose to come in for the 3rd time to get my nails done?? For the location and the cost you would think the service would match. But it doesn't. If you want a Rushed and Shitty Gel manicure Polish by Sand Spa is the place to go!!!! read more

I wanna love them, I really do; they're in the middle of the el porto/sand section and all the techs and schedulers are very nice. Their pedicures are good, just good. But I'm completely over their manicures. My sister's been ok so far, so maybe it's a 50/50. I got a hard gel overlay about a year ago, and it chipped within a few days. The whole point is that it is very tough- great for me even though my job is only typing, not particularly hard on the hands or nails. They were nice, accommodated me and fixed it up. It spooked me though, and I decided to get my manis elsewhere and continue pedis with them. After I had my last set taken off from a salon elsewhere and grew out my natural nails for the past couple of months , I decided to give them a shot again. It hurt. The efile got extremely hot multiple times, even with slower speeds, there was a hair in the polish at one point, and she tried to blame it on my reach for my phone AFTER it has cured in? How can a hair get cured into polish if I touch something after it had cured? I got cut on the last shaping file , it was just annoying at that point. Paid, tipped because I was told to tip servers and beauty workers always, and went home. I think I'll just suck it up and drive somewhere else. I'm really happy to have found this spot. My gel mani and pedi is excellent - very neat, no streaks...etc. I like that both of the technicians didn't rush and took time to get the polish on perfectly. I added a massage which was a lovely treat. As an added bonus the salon front opens up completely to the street which is nice in or out of covid restrictions. There are also screens between guests, a temp check prior to being seated and everyone is wearing masks. I'll definitely be back! read more

We tried this place today, 7/15/22 as part of my niece's birthday celebration and also bc our daughter's are having their senior pictures done soon. We definitely liked the concept of open air, they had 2 garage doors and really positive vibes all around. I checked out the reviews before our visit so I was aware of the sales pitch that most customers commented on. I must say that Cindy, the tech that did my pedicure was awesome! I want to recognize her hard work and friendly customer service. If I come back, I definitely will be requesting for her. The place hd nice, comfy oversized seats that make you want to take a nap especially during the massage portion. I was satisfied with the service and again, Cindy was phenomenal. The 3 stars was for my family. My daughter had an acrylic with gel and after her mani, she complained that she got cut the whole time. Not just once but her entire hands got cut. They also were not able to do the design that she showed her tech. I guess she didn't have experience doing some of the newer designs. Besides my daughter, my niece and sis also complained about getting cut during their mani and pedi. We thought our techs were very friendly and personable. After getting home, my sis checked her receipt and she got over charged. They charged her for services that she and my niece dis mot receive. Beware and make sure to check your receipt for accuracy. During our time there, we felt like this was a place we would come back to regularly but after all the cuts and over charges, we are not sure. Parking was easy on the street but it was early. Needed a last minute pedicure before vacation and they squeezed me in same day. I really liked my technician, I wish I remembered her name, she was so sweet. The manager seemed a bit stressed and was a little terse with me, but was nicer towards the end. It seems, like most places, they are more kind and welcoming to the regulars, which makes sense. I absolutely LOVE the open air concept, so nice not having to inhale fumes and/or worry about COVID. It's not horribly priced, just a little bit more than the place by my house, so I will most likely be returning. Parking is of course a nightmare, so just have to get there early. Wow. I love this place. Only downside is tips are cash-only. Decor is great -- it's glam, bright, colorful, but a bit minimalistic and uniquely a touch bohemian too. Has inspired me lol. The open air concept is so unique and refreshing -- literally and figuratively. Super cool little spot. NIVEA (not sure of the spelling, sorry) is absolutely amazing. I am *stickler* for the shaping of my nails. She is an absolute magician and a perfectionist. I hope she never leaves, I would follow her if she does she's that great! I cannot recommend her enough.
