My boyfriend and I tried this place over the weekend and we have to say this place was delicious. We will be coming back. The only reason why I give them a 3 star is because after I ate their spicy tuna with half half (rice/salad) I got sick. My stomach was acting up but it's probably because I didn't use soy sauce & wasabi and pour it in my bowl. They do only have 1 bowl size and I have to say it's pretty big in my opinion and I did get full off of it but for my boyfriend I think needed a little bit more to get full. I love pokiology! You are able to build a high quality and tasty poke bowl with great and fresh ingredients. They don't have premade bowls, so you get to customize every ingredient yourself. I highly recommend one scoop of spicy tuna, one of spicy salmon, one of regular salmon, all of the ingredients, and then a combination of citrus breeze and garlic mayos to top. They also have a rewards program where you can start earning some discounts after just a few visits. It is not a busy place, so service is always instant and you can pop in and out pretty quickly if you are picking up. read more

Speaking from experience, don't order here if you are not a chef or know how to put poke bowls together. I ordered delivery and it was on time. I like the miso soup. My large poke bowl was not that good because I felt the fish pieces were a bit large for me. I did a spicy mayo sauce and order avocado with it. They just cut a quarter of an avocado and put it in my dish. I recommend the crab salad and masago. The rice did not taste right to me. It was warm and somewhat dry. I felt like it needed soy sauce too, but I don't think it had that as an option. I wish they had edamame to add in. There are a number of options to pick though. I think I am better off with premade poke bowls. read more

Upsetting. Ordered 2 large poke bowls in person. The man behind the counter was scrapping the last bits of fish instead of filling the containers to make proper portions. The man was not listening to my request and I ended up with an overpriced bowl with only 3-4 pieces of fish and an overdress mess. It was a sloppy bowl with no protein for $17 each! Waste of time and money. read more

I came here as a poke virgin and now am worried that no other poke bowl will ever live up to one of the best lunches I've ever had. Oh well. Guess I'll have to come here from now on. I did a regular bowl which was plenty. Very clean, amazing staff. This is definitely a place to check out especially given all the controversy with the big poke chain here. read more

We've been on a pretty good poke kick the last few months and Pokiology has grown to be one of my favorite spots. While there's plenty of room to dine in, we have mostly taken it to go. I usually go back and forth between the 3 or 4 scoops, but my main choices have been Ahi Tuna, Salmon, Spicy Tuna, or Octopus. But they also have Shrimp and Tofu options. I prefer getting mine on salad only (so I can feel healthier ha). I usually get most of the toppings (typically leave out the spicy ingredients) with the three-way affair and seasonings. They recently got rid of the pineapple and daikon options :( and switched them in for wasabi and something else. They also offer some nice soda options (*real* root beer being my favorite) and a few options for chips. All in all, we're happy to come back time after time. read more

I have had good experiences up until today. I have a severe fish allergy, however, I can tolerate shellfish. Today, when I notified them about my allergy, the employee laughed. He refused to accommodate my allergy even though other employees have done so in the past. Completely disrespectful and unprofessional. Will not come here again - and those with allergies should not either. A life and death allergy is not a laughing matter. read more

Delicious, masterpiece poke bowls can be created, and Pokiology gives you all the options to do so. Having tried various poke places around the Chicagoland area, I would have to say that Pokiology is my favorite thus far. It is not too far West from the Wilson red line stop, which makes it easy to get there by train. I really like that you can mix and match your choice of fish that you get in your bowl. Also, it is nice that they mix your choice of protein with the chili oils BEFORE adding it to the bowl of rice and toppings, which prevents everything from getting really soggy. The toppings go from standard (seaweed salad mix, crunch) to more unique (daikon radish, crab meat) options. I think you get a very filling meal for the price when compared to other poke places. Overall, a great experience and looking forward to coming back soon. read more

I recently ordered delivery poke bowls from Pokiololy. Their online system is easy to work through. My only complaint is that some of the sauce choices are not properly described... I can guess what the "Island Breeze" sauce is, but I do not have a clue what their "3-Way Affair" sauce is. Since I ordered a pineapple topping, their Island Breeze sauce seemed to be an appropriate choice. Delivery was fast and the bowl ingredients were fresh and plentiful. It's great to have a poke option in the underserved Uptown area! I would highly recommend this place. read more

This is a gem in Uptown. I had it three days ago and I'm still thinking about it! While it might be a little bit pricier than other quick service options, it's unique and fresh and the ingredients are quality. Plus, if you consider how much you get in a bowl and compare that to the two or three sushi rolls I would typically order at a restaurant, it's a lot cheaper. It's customization in every way - choose a bed of rice (brown or white), mixed greens or half and half. I went with half and half. Then you get to select three scoops of fish. I went with the spicy tuna, salmon and shrimp. The topping options are a plenty and I wasn't sure what everything was, but I asked for recommendations and was not disappointed. I recognized seaweed salad; which I loved, avocado, ginger, jalapenos, and roe. The sauce was a mix of sesame oil, chili sauce and spicy mayo. It was so good! My bowl was literally overflowing and I ate every single morsel. This will now be a regular destination for me. Highly recommend! read more

Poké-tastic! Whoever started this poké craze, THANK YOU. If you aren't familiar with the trend, it's basically like eating a big sushi bowl and you get to choose absolutely everything that goes into it. As I'm abstaining currently from processed carbs, I opted for the mixed leaf version which was still mighty tasty. Throw in some delectable spicy tuna and a plethora of toppings (seaweed salad, jalapenos, tempura crunch sprinkles, among others!) and you've got a real winner of a dinner (or lunch, or let's be real -- I'd eat it for breakfast). At around $11 per bowl I think it's a fantastic value given the quality of ingredients and size of the portion. It's like the same price as a Jimmy John's sandwich. Let that sink in a bit... Also the service was rad, super friendly and helpful as I was a novice to this particular "make your own" style. I got it to go and I was in and out with 2 bowls in less than 5 minutes. Also, to all of you dedicated Uptowners -- ish is looking GOOD over here! I'm so happy poke is becoming more popular in Chicago. I was in the neighborhood and read that Pokiology recently opened so I decided to check it out. I ordered a regular bowl that was a little over $11 with tax. My poke bowl included: brown rice ahi tuna, salmon, yellowtail mixed with soy sauce toppings: crabmeat, green onions, masago, radish, seaweed salad, furikake three-way affair sauce Overall, I thought the poke was good. I like that you can pick up to 3 types of fish and decide what toppings you want. There's room for improvement, though. The brown rice was a little dry and the fish needed more soy sauce. I also wish there were some pre-set poke creations. Pokiology is a great option for a healthy and delicious meal. I love poke so I'll probably be back! read more

Another Poke shop in Chicago! Walked in expecting a lot, walked out satisfied. At Pokiology you assemble your own Poke-bowls the way you prefer. They have a menu very much like Chipotle's its big, and easy to read. I ordered a large which was very reasonably priced, 4 generous scoops of fish for $11. My order was 2 scoops of yellowtail and 2 scoops of Salmon, they also had Ahi Tuna, Spicy Tuna, Octopus, and Tofu. They have a variety of toppings, so I got them all; avocado was $1 extra. Pricing - Reasonable pricing, I think the cheapest in Chicago right now price to portion ratio. Decor - Bigger than most Poke shops I've been to. A few tables and seats along with window bar stools. Food - Fresh fish, yellow tail, tuna, salmon, octopus, and tofu for the meat options. First Poke spot I've been to that offered octopus, must try next time. Parking - Accessible meter parking on the street, there are also 15 minute parking zones if you're ordering to go. In all, the food is great. Friendly staff members, great atmosphere, quick service. Yay another poke place closer to my part of town. This poke place is the usual build your own poke bar. It guides you through the different layers of your poke culminating in a custom poke experience. The fish is fresh and love the customization. Base: white rice, brown rice, salad, or 1/2 of any two. Protein: tofu, salmon, tuna, yellow tail, and shrimp (cost increase with scoop vs type) Marinade: non-spicy, mild, and spicy (mixture of sesame oil, soy sauce, and chili oil) Toppings: as many as you want but extra $ for avocado. Sauces: spicy mayo, garlic aioli, wasabi cream, or a sweet chili sauce. *Let the staff know if you have any nut allergies as sesame oil is used in the marinade and sesame seed in the furikake. I'm a huge fan of poke and with new places popping up frequently, it's hard to choose a favorite. We were excited to learn we have a poke place walking distance from our apartment. The decor is clean and beachy. The fish is fresh, however one thing I was disappointed by is that they ran out of Spicy Tuna by like 8pm. Other than that the place is really good, lots of options for both fish and toppings. Pokiology being so close to where I live, I'll definitely come again. read more

I think this is a nice place to come once in a while if you live by the area but you can definitely find better quality poke bowls if you are already traveling. The fish was not very fresh in my opinion because there was a little funky smell to it. When fish is fresh there shouldn't be any fishy smell to it. It just seemed like fish had been sitting there for a while. Maybe the fish was frozen bought or not fresh caught. There's a good variety of topping that I enjoyed though and the spicy mayo sauce was very good. It was a good experience with friends though. The interior has a clean set up and the catering is chipotle style similar to most poke places. I love the addition of the seating by the window where the table is a surf board. read more

Glad to see more Poke places popping up in Chicago. The cut of the fish is smaller than other poke shops I had, but the fish is fresh. There is a good selection of toppings, but the tempura crunch (taste like little shrimp chips) is a must try and adds a bang in each bite! With the 3 scoops that I got, the portion was very reasonable. This is one Poke shop that offers more selections on the protein. They even have Octopus, for those who don't eat raw! I really wanted to give this place 5 stars. I can't just yet, but I think it's because you get to choose whatever you want to assemble your own bowl and I need some practice! All said, the ingredients are fresh and tasty and it's a solid price for what you get. I do wish they had some suggested combos, but I'll keep going back and try to figure out my own. Girlfriend decided to get a last minute poke bowl and it was great! The staff behind the counter were super friendly and helpful. We ordered a regular bowl to share with brown rice, two scoops of salmon and one scoop of spicy tuna. They have different sauce combos but we decided to just do their combination three + spicy mayo. The toppings were very good and tasted fresh. Work station seemed to be very clean and overall a quick check out. Only knocked a star off for the price, a bit more expensive than other places but you get a good portion. Ours came out to be a little over $14 with the tip. Overall good experience and we'd come back again (especially since it's around her neighborhood!) read more

Yesterday I had pokiology and man it was just like the best places in the bay area and orange county. The food was delicious, great service, and tasty fresh fish. Definitely give this place a try. Nice, airy and bright interior. It's a choose your toppings type of place. First, you start off with what type of rice you want (brown or white). Next, you choose your protein ( I chose shrimp & salmon),then whether or not you want onions, cucumbers or tofu amongst other toppings. They have seaweed salad! They also let you choose from several sauces (I chose mild and garlic). Everything looked and tasted fresh and good. To drink I had a Hawaiian passion fruit drink. My dad is from a tropical island, so I've had my fair share of passion fruit drinks and what I loved about this one was that it was super mild. A lot of times PF drinks can be strong and sour, but this one was right in between. The servers were nice,too! read more

Granted the last time I went here was in 2019 to their old location just a few blocks up on Lincoln Avenue but it seems they got a corporate makeover after shutting down during the pandemic and rebranding. Maybe they have a new owner...? It's much more spacious and brighter with Herman Miller stool seats, a pinball machine and high ceilings. But with all of these new trendy upgrades it has lost its cozy, relaxing small business neighborhood vibe the old location had IMO. They added bubble tea and Mochi donuts to their menu. They also were playing rap & trap music and I honestly thought I had walked into the wrong place when I went in. Gone are the guys busy behind the counter. You order via an ordering kiosk (they seem to be popular with places cutting down on staff) made by one person behind the counter. My order was made quickly but I'm not really sure about the kiosk ordering system since you need to input your phone number. I ordered my favorite bowl of theirs, Jimmy's Creation. The first time I tried it in 2018 it was so good I nearly skipped out of the place and wanted to eat here everyday. It's still good but the rice is much more sticky, a little too sticky for my liking since I had to break it up into chunks with my chopsticks. The sauce was a bit too sweat also. Was it always this sweat...? A minor issue though based on preference I guess. I would probably return again but probably not go out of my way and trek through a snow storm like I did once years ago.

There was a variety of texture but no saltiness or spiciness or umami flavoring to offset the blandness or the veggies and protein. Interestingly enough, the spam musubi was one of the best I've had in a while. I loved the egg addition to the 2 slices of spam and warm rice. I would return for several spam musubis and if I'm craving something lighter to eat.
