Alright let's be real. This place is tasty and considered to be clean eating if you're going gluten, dairy, or Keto. I love this place because it reminds me of home (Hawaii the home of Poké). Only problem I have with this place is only one serving for specific items like the Kimchi, I don't expect it as an added item for free. I'd pay for it, but when the server says, "I'm not allowed to give your double of specific items" than that's a problem for your customers. Please list it or have it on one of your menus. Fish is good, and they take care to separate the proteins which I appreciate. I also appreciate the way they have the entry way set up for ease so if you're a first time experience person you don't feel confused walking inn. During this whole pandemic, my husband and I are trying to eat out locally when we can. I work in the real estate office by the PokiPoki on Wyoming so I used to go there often for lunch or a meeting. We were craving tacos, so we placed an order online-it was very easy and you could customize the things you ordered (no cheese for us!). It was a 45 min wait, but that's pretty standard so no big deal. We waited in the parking lot till our time slot came up, then went in to get the order. I was very pleased that there was no other customers in there (hence the allotted times I'm guessing), and the staff were all wearing masks and gloves. We had already paid online, so I just gave my name and out the door I went. Super easy! The tacos were of course heavenly! I've never had a bland or dry taco there and this time was no exception. So happy that we found this! The line was long, but it was well worth the wait. The menu is super unique and choices are plenty...even for those who want cooked savory as opposed to actual poke. Pretty solid poke and pretty shocked to find poke in New Mexico. We did a create your own poke with tuna and salmon. The toppings are pretty standard for poke places, except the green chili, otherwise they have pickled ginger edamame, crab salad etc. The sauces were a little different, I tried the jalapeño wasabi and the chimichurri sauce were both unique and excellent. I also tried the ceviche with shrimp and calamari. I was a little disappointed, I felt it lacked lime juice and seasoning. The poke was definitely much better than the ceviche. read more

My boyfriend and i come here pretty regularly since it's about a 30 minute walk from our house. The food is always fresh and delicious, they have a lot of rotating local beer options and the service is always great. My wife and I first tried Poki Poki at Yelptropolis 2016 and it has been on our list for a (long) while. It was mostly me hemming and hawing about going. Well, I had family members visiting with restrictive and largely incompatible diets. We took a quick look at the menu and decided that this may actually work as a place where they could both eat well. Well, just to fast forward, I was the one resisting and then I ate it and have been the one saying I can't wait to go back. I was hesitant but it was *really* good. And we've been there twice in 5 days! You start by picking your base (rice, salad, chips) and then a meat. What's really, really great is you can say things like "mostly rice and a bit of salad", and/or mix and match the proteins however you want. I really liked the tuna and the peruvian (calamari) ceviche. The first time I had the spicy tuna and was less happy with the texture and the (special of the month?) scallops ceviche. Actually, had I written this review after the first visit it would have been 4 stars, but the other meats were exceptional today. Anyway, you then pick sauces. Ask them about the flavors you don't know. They were super helpful and happy to provide samples. Moving on to toppings where there are lots of options and you get a good amount (3 with the small, 4 with regular, and unlimited with the bigger bowl). I really liked the crab salad, sesame salad, and the avocado. But there are a good number of options. Finish it off with regular toppings and some seasonings and you're good to go! I think part of my hesitation was being worried I wouldn't have enough food but it was far from a problem! Especially with rice, it was more than enough food. This time, we also got drinks. They have a nice selection of beer though it is all canned/bottled (a bit of a disappointment). On tap, they have their own mixed sangrias. Important tip: ask them to dilute it a bit with more wine. They were really sweet! (but also really good) So, all in all, I look forward to heading back there! And I hope they keep expanding. I would welcome them on the Westside read more

Ugh! This place is frustrating. The food is good but the prices don't make any sense and for some things are outrageous. My "Ultimate" bowl for $16.22 is great, but my kids Shoyo bowls for $12 a piece are pathetic! The bowl is barley half full with the rice and chicken and sauce for $12.00. I also think the macaroons at 3 for 4.25 is on the high side too. I hate places where I can't go with my family because they charge crazy prices for small simple food but are a good. Allie for me. Some co-workers introduced me to Poki Poki for ladies night happy hour. They informed me they had a wide variety of beers and the food was on point. I have to admit when I walked in I was a little intimidated, how do I order? What do I order? Some nice folks pointed me to the menu cards and I browsed the options while I awaited my partners in crime. The pre-determined bowls looked appealing but I wanted to change it up so I asked if I could make changes, the friendly staff was happy to make my substitutes. The process reminded me of Subway where they make it fresh in front of you and it was fast. The flavors were amazing and the amount of food was more then enough. The latin bowl with brown rice is awesome! I took my husband a few weeks later and he too was a little intimidated but I walked him through the options and he became an instant fan. I am so thankful that Poki Poki has finally branched out closer to my neighborhood. Like the original location, this one carries the same variety of bases, protein options, and toppings. Not to mention the friendly staff. The real changes were implemented in the interior decorating and other additional features: 1) They use plastic bowls (the thicker, re-washable kind; think Genghis Grill, but smaller) and offer metal silverware if you're dining in. You just leave them on top of the trash can after eating, like at Sushi Freak. 2) There is a bar area on the first floor, with a variety of beers on tap, etc. 3) Seating is available upstairs, which overlooks the first floor and a little bit of the city, depending on where you're sitting. 4) The furniture (particularly the chairs) has a modern vibe that is also reflected in the artwork and overall feel of the restaurant. Parking was a breeze compared to the Central location, however, I did notice other businesses in construction in adjacent suites, so that may change in the future. They still offer military discount, but I've yet to inquire about the student discount, which was applicable at the original location. Nonetheless, I'll be here frequently! read more

Restaurant also has upstairs seating on tables, bar stools, and some weird lounge furniture. Poki is the familiar format of picking a base: rice, salad, chips; pick the protein with choices between ahi, salmon, albacore, ceviche, shrimp; pick a sauce; and toppings. They have a bunch of interesting sauces like Pineapple Mono, Fusion Mayo, Passion fruit leche de tigre. Will have to go back to taste the difference. read more

We don't opt for the poki bowls... we come here for the FISH TACOS. They are legitimately the best fish tacos we've ever had. The white fish tacos are deep fried in a plantain batter and it just creates something magical to say the very least. Topped with pickled cabbage and a chipotle mayo, these tacos are unforgettable. They are a little pricey so I recommend opting for a Taco Tuesday, 3 tacos each usually fills us up! The pastries and deserts here are also unreal. I am so excited for Poki Poki. It has a great location, the venue is awesome, and it will be neighbs with Red Door. My friend and I met at Poki Poki at around 6pm on Wedneday night. We must've gotten there right before the dinner rush because there was a line nearly out the door when we sat down with our bowls. This was my first time having poki. They have an option to build your own bowl or choose from something off of their menu. I decided to build my own bowl. I chose brown rice, tofu, crab meat, plantains, roasted jalapeno sauce, green chile, and avocado wasabi dressing. It was a really good combination of flavors. Next time I will definitely try the fish though. Tofu was good, but I think I would enjoy fish more. Service was okay. It is really loud, so I had issues hearing the girl making my bowl. When my friend and I went and sat down, we still had issues hearing one another and we were sitting upstairs. So, just a heads up. They have cool paintings on the wall, and a bar in the middle of the first floor and an outdoor patio. Pretty cool! I will definitely be back. Oh, price point. I am writing this review because, at the moment, I am craving some food from this place! The food here is so delicious I seriously find myself thinking about it every so often. I usually get the Boss Bowl, which has such a flavorful array of carbs, proteins, and vegetables that, by the time I'm done, I'm stuffed (in a good way!). I've also gone to this restaurant with people who let me taste their poki bowls, which were just as tasty. The poki bowls here really serve up a wonderful assortment of sweet, salty, spicy, and umami all in a bowl. It leaves me wanting more. You can either order from one of the staple dishes on the menu, or build your own. I like that they give you options! The restaurant itself is pretty casual. It's a nice spot to grab some food and hang out with friends or family. And the servers have always been friendly. I really enjoy the way these bowls are made. The bowls look beautiful and delectable. I often refer to poki bowls as deconstructed sushi, though there are many ways they can be made. I usually like rice, but I know they can do more of a salad-type bowl with greens instead. I like that they add the ingredients to the bowl, but separate them enough that, if you want to eat a bunch of a particular ingredient, you can. Great place to grab a quick bite! Came on a Sunday night and it was super busy, but we still managed to get through the line very quickly. The only problem we encountered was parking, but they seem to have attempted to solve the problem by using adjacent parking lots. I ordered the standard Poke bowl with no adjustments, and it was spot on taste-wise, but the rice at the bottom of the bowl became mushy towards the end. I probably would still choose traditional sushi over this, but that comes down to simple preference. Traditional sushi has much more variation and this type of food is very staunchly Americanized. For instance the miso offered had no tofu in it, and was heavily salted. And when presented in roll form I feel that the ingredients are better proportioned so that you don't end up with the sheer amount of rice I did at the bottom of my bowl. All in all, this is a good place to grab a casual bite and I won't oppose going back, but probably would still opt for sushi over this. read more
