My first impression was, "Excited to have a poke restaurant open up finally in Brea!" We love our local poke spot and have been coming here since they first opened. The quality of the food and service has always been consistent. They have so many options for fish and toppings but some of our go-to favorites are the half and half bowls with tuna and albacore sashimi with all the toppings fully loaded. Sorry but this is not sushi grade fish being served...you can tell its just chunks of raw fish. Stop & get the poke! The portion is generous. Much appreciated. The proteins are delicious! I had scoop of crab + shrimp, scallops, tuna. Paid about $20 for a regular bowl and was surprised at the amount of fish they put in it, not a crazy amount especially for $20 but better than I've seen at other places. For food I decided to get the Large Bowl which comes with 5 Protien options. I did half rice with salad and 3 Protein options of spicy creamy tuna and 2 salmon. Only thing is they have a small parking lot they share with other businesses in the strip mall which sometimes gets filled completely. Unfortunately, her general flustered demeanor, insistence upon rushing my experience to my discomfort, and cheapskate portioning made it clear to me that Poki Monster is no longer worth my business, nor the business of any other individuals who value integrity in the practice of business. I have listed my review as "two stars" because the food served and sauces added to the dishes are enjoyable; I am honestly slightly disappointed that I will no longer be enjoying them as a result of the overriding negative tone that accompanies the operation of this restaurant. Once you step into the restaurant, you'll be greeted by sweet friendly faces ready to take your order. The staff has a tendency to repeat everything you say back to them to ensure they have your order correctly - so be patient and don't get grumpy at them. The ordering process is very easy - look on the wall for a guide for step by step instructions. If you don't want to read, the workers will help you figure out what you need. (Size of your dish, Base, fish, toppings, sauces). I like to look at the wall so I can just tell them what I want with ease. I've eaten here multiple times, and the fish are always fresh and tasty. I had my first poke bowl ever at this place when I didn't know how to order, and everyone was super helpful. Price point, when you factor in inflation, is fair. Food was great here, but sometimes the orders can be a little slow. Also, there was a young girl at the front was kind of impatient and rude. She called the customer for their order, but the customer either could not hear or caught up with their phone. I know she did call again but also making a face...I think next time she can handle the situation better. She could just walk up to the table and asked if their is so and so and the food is ready at the front, so they can pick it up. I love poke but this was my first poke (not poki) only restaurant. I was a little skeptical about the whole concept - a poke Chipotle or Chipoke. :) But for a relatively healthy and light lunch, a poke bowl hits the spot. You select from white and brown rice or salad and choose 3 (regular) or 5 (large) scoops of fish (tuna, spicy tuna, salmon, scallops, cooked shrimp and albacore). The scoops are tiny but they do give you a bigger scoop than the actual scooper. You then complete your bowl from a variety of toppings and sauces. The first time I had a regular and was not completely satisfied. The 2nd time I got a large for $11.95 but was completely full. I found the fish and all the ingredients to be fresh. I got spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and albacore. All toppings are free and certain ones have a fee to get EXTRA. Get the poki sauce and ponzu.... and spicy mayo! Deliciousness. I got half salad and brown rice for the base. It's definitely enough for me. I actually have to save half for later. The scoops of fish are kind of small, but in the end-worth it. I'm quite impressed with poki monster. I've gone to quite a few poke places and so it's rare to come across an establishment that I actually enjoy. My coworker and I came here earlier today for lunch at 12:30pm and it wasn't too packed. Parking was a breeze (but I know based on the size of the plaza, it can get a little tricky depending on the time). We were greeted and helped immediately upon entering. I decided to get a regular bowl ($8.99) with half salad, half rice with 3 scoops including salmon, albacore and spicy mayo (premixed) tuna. For my toppings I got seaweed salad, edamame, pineapple, a scoop of fake crab meat (they charge extra for extra scoops), and cucumber. They were a little stingy with the toppings in my opinion, but the scoops of fish were just the right amount. The salmon looked fresh and the tuna was alright (you really can't tell cus it was mixed already) but the albacore looked a little less fresh. I ended with the recommended sauces (shoyu, sesame oil and I'm not sure what the last one was) and the volcano sauce (basically level 1 hot sauce), masago, wasabi, and scallions. I also got spicy mayo on the side, which I recommend if you want some extra sauces. I was able to finish my entire bowl, with a little bit left over but I thought the overall amount of the bowl was generous enough. There was def enough flavor, the servers were pretty kind, and the overall process was pretty efficient. I do want to note that even though the place was starting to get packed, a lot of people get their orders to go - so you might be lucky if you want to eat in.
