My sister and I came here for a quick bite to eat with friends before she went back to New York City. When we went up to order it was a little difficult to tell the employee what we wanted because the music was really loud and we couldn't really hear what he was saying & he couldn't really hear what we were saying. He was really nice and did a good job giving us a decent amount of fish as well as the toppings that we asked for but it was a little bit pricy. I paid $35 for two bowls, which isn't too bad but I think you should get at least one or two more toppings for that price. I did eat the entire bowl, unlike my friends and sister, and it was absolutely delicious. I would definitely come back if I was in the area and looking for a quick poki bowl to munch on.

FAV poké spot in the area. AMAZING price compared to other similar places. I usually get the organic mixed greens as a base with the marinated tuna and salmon. (They also have the option of three proteins). The options are plentiful and all free, with the exception of the avocado (+1.50). Usually most places charge extra for seaweed salad and masago, so it was nice to not get an up charge for those. They also put on a decent amount of each requested topping. There are also many sauce choices that have a wide range of flavors, so there is definitely something for everyone. Love love love this place and always go here for my poké fix!! I recommend to anyone looking for cheap and tasty food! 10/10

Great addition to Bethesda! Build-your-own rice bowls. Very fresh fish, particularly the salmon. Wide selection of vegetables and other toppings. Many sauces to choose from. There are both Japanese- and Hawaiian-inspired choices and also plenty of other ingredients to choose from. Lines are infrequent and usually move fairly quickly. Overall, a great place. Ahi Tuna, Crab Salad, Poke Bowl, Zoodle Rice Combo and Zoodle Rice Combo. Things I would get from here on a daily basis.

I end up going for poke often. It's an easy and quick lunchtime option. I tell myself is healthy too. This location is bright and they've got plenty of seating. Staff is friendly and patient when you're trying to make your selections from all the topping options. Be sure to sign up for the rewards program!

I give it 5 stars for exceeding my expectations. I wanted to try something I've never had before and after reading the reviews I decided to give this place a try. And even after reading the reviews and looking at pictures I had no idea what I was walking into. But let me tell you, the food is fresh and it's a lot for the amount of money you spend. Usually after eating I feel bloated and tired, this food gave me energy!- and I haven't had that in a long time. I sent pictures to my friends raving about this place. I wouldn't say I could eat this food everyday but it will definitely be high on my food list! Brown rice, tuna, salmon, crabmeat salad, seaweed salad, green onion, corn, mango, pineapple, cucumber, sesame sauce & rice puff [ i allowed them to put an additional sauce on there i can't remember what it's called]

This is by far my favorite poke place in the area. My favorite part is that it's cheap, but still a big portion. Fish is fresh and I like how the fish gets tossed in the sauce instead of drizzled on top. Plenty of toppings to choose from. Make sure to get a good amount of toppings to get your money's worth and also make your bowl super delicious!

Stopped by Poke DC for lunch this week and was so happy with the food i received! They were following strict COVID guidelines: requiring masks, keeping 6 feet distance, etc. They had several fresh food options to choose from to build your meal and helpful employees for a first timer like me. I got a poke bowl and chose steamed sushi rice as my base, although they had several unique base options such as zoodles, brown rice and quinoa, and soba noodles! I went with the small protein options and decided on fresh salmon and tuna. They allowed me as many toppings as I'd like and it was hard to narrow it down from their tons of choices. Overall, I thought the food was fresh, reasonably priced, and there was great speedy service! My only regret is not grabbing a gong cha tea as well! I will be back:)

The size of the matcha cheesecake that is sold for 3.50 per slice. The 1.50 mochi is bigger for sure.

Shocked about the size of the Matcha Cheesecake. It was $3.50 for this tiny slice. Mochi ice cream is definitely about the same size for $1.50.

Terrific bowls from the Bethesda location. Everything was fresh and delicious. I also appreciated how filling it was.

If you know me, you know I love finding low-key hidden gems, and this place definitely deserves more hype. My top favorites are the chicken katsu, macaroni salad, and the BBQ combination plate. The portions are generous, everything is flavorful, and somehow it always hits the spot no matter what I order. The macaroni salad is genuinely addicting, and the BBQ meats are always tender and well-seasoned. Another big plus: the food travels really well for takeout, which is a huge win for me. The only thing I'd say is the chicken katsu is best fresh since it loses some of its crispiness when reheated - but honestly, that just gives me an excuse to finish it in one sitting. The ambiance is casual, relaxed, and super welcoming. It's definitely not a date night spot, but more of a laid-back comfort food place where you can grab a satisfying meal with friends, family, or even solo after a long day. They also have a nice open seating area, and the customer service is always quick, friendly, and efficient. Overall, this is one of those reliable comfort spots I keep coming back to, especially when I'm craving a satisfying meal without spending a fortune.

I also got some teriyaki sauce on the side and I'm glad I did because the pork definitely needed a little sauce. There were onions in the pork that I wished were cooked a bit more, they basically steamed. The flavor was delicious but the takeout bag leaked pork juice (?) all over my other groceries so that kinda sucked. That's the only reason for my 4 stars this time, but the food was amazing as always!

They share a space with other businesses in a somewhat food hall/bar type of vibe. Some businesses from the original "the block" food hall have moved here like snocream. There are a lot of different plate, bowl, and combo variations to choose from. For my first time, it was very hard to choose but I opted with the seafood combo which has fried fish, fried shrimp, and a choice of meat. The flavor is amazing especially the bbq marinade on the beef. The batter used for the shrimp and fish tastes the same, a little bland, but light batter not overly greasy. I'm not sure what authentic hawaiian food is supposed to taste like to compare this but I think the seafood needs some kind of sauce. Portion size is great, one combo plate can be shared between two people but u might want to have your own as you're eating it. The take-out menu vs. dine-in menu are a little confusing, I'm not sure which has the better value and/or if theres any difference in portion size or what-not but we got the to-go combo and just ate in store. The dine-in menu I was told just gets plated instead of put in a box but i'm wondering if you get more/less meat in that sense because why are there two different menus? Overall this spot is pretty solid and a different kind of cuisine thats good to have around the area. I will likely come back and update my review as I try the other items on the menu and as they continue to renovate the space.

I added this casual spot to my list a couple months ago, but didn't have concrete plans to check it out. Driving to Manassas and back on I-66 from where I live would cost half of my brain cells and all my patience. However, a few friends and I drove out to Shenandoah this past Friday evening, and I made a convincing argument that HawaU would be on the way. By the time we arrived, we were all incredibly hungry and ready to wolf down anything edible. The ordering process was easy: we ordered and paid at the counter, grabbed a seat at one of the few tables, and waited ~10-15 minutes for the food (parts of it are made to order). LOCO MOCO (BOWL) - 9.99 The chipotle-sized bowl was topped with loco moco: white rice base topped with hamburger patty, fried egg, grilled pineapple slice, and a generous pour of beef & mushroom gravy, plus sides of fresh cabbage salad and mac salad. The gravy nostalgically reminded me of the ones I'd get from cafeteria-style school lunches -- thick, salty, slightly starchy, yet oddly comforting. The egg, hamburger patty, and rice were pretty standard, but the familiarity of the gravy tied the whole dish together nicely. Both salads were good -- the cabbage was more light and refreshing, while the mac salad felt a bit heavy after all the loco moco. Since it's my first time eating loco moco, I can't say how it compares to others. However, I found HawaU's incredibly comforting and hearty. It really hit the spot for me, and I ate the whole bowl within 10 minutes. The loco moco is definitely their signature option and a must try. My friends who got the spicy pork bowl and udon thought both were just OK and not special.
