Really disappointed with our experience at Poki DC. My husband and I walked in around 9:07 PM because we were under the impression they closed at 9:30 PM. While we were ordering, an employee looked annoyed and yelled at us to hurry up because they closed at 9:15 PM. We apologized and rushed to finish our order, but the way we were treated was very unprofessional and made us feel unwelcome. To make matters worse, the quality of our order was disappointing. We've ordered here before, but this time everything tasted off. My husband's drink had a huge block of ice in it, and mine tasted nothing like it usually does. I stopped by Poki DC for a quick lunch, and I was very happy with my poke bowl. The assembly line style made ordering a breeze. Also, they have so many option for each step of the assembly line - the base, protein (2-3), toppings (up to 5), sauces (1-2), and garnishes (1). To me, the prices were pretty fair, I think my 2 protein bowl was around 16 bucks for a large bowl. When we went up to order it was a little difficult to tell the employee what we wanted because the music was really loud and we couldn't really hear what he was saying & he couldn't really hear what we were saying. He was really nice and did a good job giving us a decent amount of fish as well as the toppings that we asked for but it was a little bit pricy. I paid $35 for two bowls, which isn't too bad but I think you should get at least one or two more toppings for that price. Update: Check in on Yelp and they'll give you a free mochi ice cream or miso soup!! First things first, this is one of my favorite poke places mainly due to the fact that they have crab salad, pickled radishes, and seaweed salad as toppings. Perhaps niche, but these toppings put it close to the top for me. Alright, so for everything else - this place is easy to get to and has plenty of parking, and they also have a Gong Cha boba place inside of the restaurant in case you want both boba and poke. It's usually not crowded at all, and so it's pretty quick to order a bowl. I like that it's pretty chill inside, with not too much going on, so you can get in and out easily. But, be warned that there's not a ton of room to eat in. They have rolls and donburi bowls, but I've only ever gotten the poke. The price depends on how many proteins you get, as well as if you add on premium toppings like avocado. I typically get a bowl with salmon and tuna with pretty much all of their toppings and a few sauces. As mentioned above, they have some great toppings like the crab and seaweed salads - typically I would lower my rating for a place that charges extra for avocado (because it should be a given for poke, in my opinion), but the rest of the toppings and the variety really make up for it. All in all, with two proteins, tax, and tip, a bowl will run you about $18-20, but they always last me at least 2 meals. I'm pretty sure this location is affiliated with the Poke DC in downtown DC (9th and F) but offers a wider selection to include the Donburi bowl. I got two poki bowls and a pork cutlet donburi bowl, all which were super yummy. I loved the spicy sauce, it was spicy but has wonderful flavor! I forget what it's called but it has two chili signs next to it. The location shares space with Gon Cha (boba tea and other drink special) so it can get a bit busy inside. FAV poké spot in the area. AMAZING price compared to other similar places. I usually get the organic mixed greens as a base with the marinated tuna and salmon. (They also have the option of three proteins). The options are plentiful and all free, with the exception of the avocado (+1.50). Usually most places charge extra for seaweed salad and masago, so it was nice to not get an up charge for those. They also put on a decent amount of each requested topping. There are also many sauce choices that have a wide range of flavors, so there is definitely something for everyone. Love love love this place and always go here for my poké fix!! Stopped by Poke DC for lunch this week and was so happy with the food i received! They were following strict COVID guidelines: requiring masks, keeping 6 feet distance, etc. They had several fresh food options to choose from to build your meal and helpful employees for a first timer like me. There is some seating available inside with lots of cute decor. This Poki DC is unique because there is also a bubble tea spot inside. I did not get a chance to try the bubble tea yet, but will update my review if I do. I have visited their Rio location, the menu is the same and my order was deliciously comparable to my previous experience :) You go station by station in a line to select how you want your pokebowl built. The menu also offers miso soup and mochi on top of the bubble tea. They have your appetizer, meal and dessert covered ;) - Step 1 - Pick your base: sushi rice, brown rice with quinoa, zucchini noodles or organic spring mix. We've been coming here and eating poke bowls for about a year without issue. Unfortunately, last night we both got food poisoning and barely slept. I know that this was the exception and not the rule, but when dealing with raw ingredients this is just unacceptable. In retrospect, the slightly wet floor must have been from a broken refrigerator, but the Management should have been upfront and communicated that so that we would know the risk and found another way to refrigerate the ingredients otherwise. Be weary if you see the wet floor sign in front of the counter!!! Not so sure ill be coming back to this location. The food still tastes good and it seems to be fresh. I havent been to this location in a while and decided to go in today. I asked for a little extra pickled radish and the lady refused and told me max is 2 spoons (which were already pretty light to begin with) and if I want to pay for extra i can get a side of it for $6. Tuna is my go to and they have choices either marinated; plain or Spicy Tuna which is chopped up with some spicy mayo. I went for the marinated Tuna which had a nice flavor. You get 2 protein so I also took the cooked shrimp which were quite good. Other family members tried the salmon and said it was quite good. Lot's of toppings to choose from; veggies; seaweed salad, etc; as well as some crunch topping options. The sauces were plentiful to choose from, I believe at least 6. I went for some eel sauce and "Spicy Ponzu" which was a good combo for me. i was trying to stay away from the mayo sauces which are higher calorie, but they looked great if you can afford the calories. Ask them for a little sample before you commit to a sauce if you're not sure what to get. They were patient with me. It is a little pricey compared to some fast casual. Confession: poké is one of my favorite meals of all time. What's not to like about a deconstructed sushi roll in bowl form (that is more filling, in my opinion)? That being said, Poki DC is hands down my favorite poké chain in the DMV right now. I've been to their other location at Rio, but I was super excited when I heard about this location opening up on Old Georgetown Road since it's so close to where I work. It is located right next to Not Your Average Joe's (in the plaza right by Giant). What I love about Poki DC is how fresh their fish is. I've been to other poké places where the cuts of fish were oddly chewy and gray-ish, but I've never had that problem here. I always opt for the salmon. You can also choose from a variety of bases (white rice, brown rice with quinoa, salad mix, or zucchini noodles) to build your bowl. They are pretty heavy-handed with the base scoops, IMO. You also have so many topping options! I go for the kale, pickled radish, edamame, seaweed salad, crab salad, and mango every time (I like a full bowl....). Love that they don't charge extra for the crab salad like they do at other places. They also have a ton of garnishes like sesame seeds and garlic crisps to add some texture to your bowl, as well as a bunch of sauces for flavor. I'm a fan of their spicy ponzu and yuzu jalapeño (with some sriracha mayo on the side). If you want to top your meal off with dessert, they also serve Gong Cha bubble tea which is pretty cool. Quick and easy and (I hope) healthy!! We've been trying to eat healthier this year, so a lot of our go-to takeout spots are now no-nos. This was a lifesaver for a hungry family! The marinated versions of the fish were extremely funny tasting, so I really don't recommend it. Maybe you can try asking for a sample before you get it--the first time I wanted to throw away my bowl before I finished it because it tasted so weird. But I gave it another chance a different day with the unmarinated fish, and it was great! I decided not to take a point away because most of the other poke options nearby also have marinated fish which taste really funny sometimes as well. The location is awesome, price is reasonable, and toppings are great! It's also really cool that they have gongcha here (huge plus even though I didn't have any yet). The mochi icecream was also really good (free if you check in). It makes a difference when the servers fill the scooper fully and generously. I was museum hopping in DC and decided to give this place a try when hunger set in. I'm really glad I did! While most create-your-own-dishe styled restaurants have limits on the number of toppings you can add, Poki DC does not. After you pick between rice, salad, or a combination of both, you get two proteins. I played it safe with cooked shrimp and ventured into raw sushi with marinated salmon. Then, you can literally add anything you want. I stuck to the toppings I knew I would like and and finished off with soy sauce and sriracha mayo. The ONLY qualm I had is that the mayo was a little too sweet. It was a little overpowering but the entire experience and dish altogether were pretty great! read more

So healthy, fresh, good for people like me watching their weight (and hoping we can get it to go down!!). One of the things I really like is that I can order greens or seaweed instead of rice, in order to keep the carb content down. That makes it super attractive and healthy for me, not to mention delicious! Good value too. I will keep returning. They have a system for a free poke after you buy X (like 8 or something), don't know that I'll ever have the frequency to build up to that. I can't tell how nice it would be to hang there.
