I would give the poke here a 5/10. I've had lots of poke, both on the east coast, west coast, and in Hawaii, and this just didn't cut it for me. Some of the topping options were a little strange/random to put on top of poke and they weren't chopped/cut in small enough pieces for my liking (ex. cucumbers where in huge chunks). I usually order poke on brown rice and did the same here. The menu lists "brown rice + quinoa," but it tasted a little off to me, like it had some sort of spice in it - I wasn't a huge fan. I can usually finish a poke bowl in one sitting, but not here, it just wasn't that great. The pros of this place are the ambiance and the fact that they also serve Gong Cha bubble tea. Hands down best Poké I've had in quite some time! There is a great selection of toppings, and the proteins are all fresh and delicious. The citrus miso sauce has become my new favorite. Poke bowls and Gong Cha teas in Bethesda?! I'm so glad to have some food diversity around here (notwithstanding the now-closed Buredo place that was so-so in my opinion). This place is legit and tasty. I tried several proteins on my first visit, with my favorites being the marinated yellowtail and salmon. I did opt for an XL portion, intending to finish half, but couldn't resist it all. They have almost too many options when it comes to sauce. I'll share their own recommendation with you: if you like spicy, go for the spicy ponzu sauce and you won't regret it. I was pleasantly surprised to find a Gong Cha tea place inside. Delicious fresh poke! Careful not to get too many toppings! They can sit heavy on top of the fish and cause some unpleasant mushiness. Also, zoodle lovers be aware that the more crowded your bowl is, the more watery the zoodles will be! I only docked one star because accessing nutritional information is difficult and it can be quite annoying for both parties to call back and forth asking for ingredients in sauces and marinades (dietary restrictions). I'm so sad I only found out about this place in the last month that I was in DC, but it's honestly the best poke I've had outside of Hawaii. The amount of choices that you get is awesome, and each ingredient is fresh and flavorful. But what really makes a poke place are two things - the quality of the rice, and the quality of their fish. In both of these, Poki DC does an excellent job. The rice is cooked well, with just enough vinegar and sweetness to balance out the fish. The fish is always fresh, and when you bite into an individual chunk, you can taste fresh fish flavor instead of poor-quality fish at other poke places. We've been coming here because it's the closest poke place near us. But I'm frustrated every time I come. Of all the poke shops I've been to, including California and Hawaii, Poki DC is the worst. The ingredients are ok, but it stops there. They give the smallest protein servings I've ever seen. For $15.45 you get two scoops. Each scoop is barely the size of the smallest ice cream scoop. It amounted to 6 little cubes of fish. Also the service is terrible. We had to stand there and wait after each step for them to finish working on takeout orders. We had to remind them that we were standing there waiting. Then we had to complain that they didn't give us the points on our frequent shopper account. Altogether a real disappointment. No one got anything from their "crunchies" or "munchies" or something, and got random stuff they didn't add, while also losing stuff they actually did. The bowls were also totally drowning in sauce - to the point where I considered washing my bowl in the sink so I could taste the other stuff - so keep that in mind if you think this is "healthy". However, the staff's timeliness and COVID precautions were wonderful, so I have to appreciate that. tl;dr they messed up all four of our orders and added a LOT of sauce, but they do take COVID precautions. First and last time here went for lunch for the first time there were only two people in line yet I still felt rushed. I ordered a bowl and dumplings the dumplings I was told would take four minutes but I water for ten minutes when I tried to wave to the women in the back to see how long she looked at me yet did not acknowledge me. My friend came to the counter to order a tea there is a clear sign to come right to the register for tea orders yet he kept being told to wait while the women kept checking out other people.
