I went yesterday after not going for a while since it's further from where I live now. I went in late afternoon, and the place was empty. I miss the time when they used to take orders in person and fill the bowls in front of you while you choose the items. I had to use the kiosk to order and wait to pick up my order at a separate counter. When it's ready, they send you a text message to pick up your order. The bowl is inside a brown paper bag with napkins and chopsticks on top. I didn't think of inspecting it before I left. When I got home, I found that there were missing ingredients and there were no dressing and toppings. I double-checked my receipt to see if I may have missed picking them. They were there, but the employee missed placing those items in my bowl. This was very disappointing. Next time, I'll make sure to watch them make my bowl to make sure that nothing is missing. read more

I honestly did not like the customer service at all. The restaurant is in a food hall, it opens at 11:30am and I got there at 11:35am. They were still cleaning and unpacking stuff from the kitchen. I walked to the counter and waited before a man told me to use the kiosk to put in my order. I asked him if I could order with him and he advised it would be easier if I used the kiosk. I didn't want it to not be easy for him to make so I used it. No more than 15 mins later these school aged girls walked in and one went right to the counter and he greeted her and made her meal without asking her to use the kiosk. It was upsetting and seemingly discriminatory. I got my food and inside was a piece of blue plastic. No, I would not go back to this location. They have a kiosk ordering system which is super slow if you're waiting behind other people since they have to customize their entire bowl. However, if you go up to the cashier to order it's a lot quicker and more efficient since they add your toppings as you go like normal poke places. I got a regular bowl with salmon and marinated tuna, and for the toppings I got the crab and seaweed salad, mango, a bunch of the fresh veggies, and topped it off with spicy ponzu and eel sauce. Everything was delicious! The crab salad was a bit subpar to the ones I'm used to, but the fish tasted fresh and so did all of the toppings. The sauces were also especially good and helped bring everything together. I can overlook the massive amount of seaweed salad they put in each of our bowls and the quarter of an entire onion they put in my bowl because I could have said something as I watched them scoop it onto my food. This is my fault. However, I cannot excuse the fact that they messed up the 2 main ingredients in a poke bowl: the rice and the fish. I ordered the brown rice and it was dry and undercooked as if they didn't use enough water when they made it yesterday. The spicy salmon my fiancé got had the consistency of mashed sweet potato. When putting a fork in it there were no chunks of salmon at all. The only explanation I could think of was they used cooked salmon mixed with spicy mayo to make some sort of salmon salad but even this is wrong for a poke bowl. We both agreed it was best to scoop this out for fear of getting food poisoning. We agreed not to return to this place and to find some place better next time. read more

The bowl I ordered was greens with a few distinctive items like mango and seaweed that you wouldn't put together if you weren't doing a poke bowl. My salad had a nice crunch. Ordering system seems so inefficient. Other Poki DC locations like Gaithersburg has you walk up where you tell them what you want and they scoop it there for you on the spot, like you would do at Chipotle. You're in and out. Here, they tell you to grab a paper menu (wasteful) and grab a pen (nope, not sanitized) to circle what you want in your bowl. WHAT?! Then you take the paper and give it the register so they ring you up and then call you when your order is ready. WHY?! There are three people here to help make this assembly line run smooth. But this whole process took 15 mins. I'd love to hear how this is the most safest and effective way. As for the actual food, it's okay. Portions are also skimpy than other locations! And parking can be a hassle since you have to park in the garage. read more

Every Yelp check-in, you can get a free mochi ice cream or miso soup,valued at $1.50. Unlimited toppings except for avocado and other paid ones, but you can ask for more of anything like seaweed salad, crab salad, etc. You can get as many sauces as you like, and they are good! Spicy mayo is perfect there. Wish they gave a little more salmon, but it's still a good amount on average! The raw fish is fresh and sushi rice cooked well. Unlimited toppings at the end as well (bonito flakes, sesame seeds, etc.). Pretty good bang for your buck usually! I got a poki bowl with sushi rice, spicy salmon and black pepper tuna... the sriracha Mayo had a good kick, the rice was perfect..., the edamame and masago were a good touch. However, they were really stingy with the protein; I felt I barely got any salmon. The black pepper tuna was tasty but it just left me wanting more. That and we ordered via one of the kiosks and it took nearly 30 minutes to get our food. It seemed the folks who ordered at the counter got their food faster. The poke here is all around good. Not amazing but good. I used to go to the Rio location pretty often. I remember the portions there were great and the bowl always be full once I was done going down the line. This particular location seems to be a bit stingy, but I am only basing this off of a recent trip. It could be covid impact or perhaps the portions depend on who is working as another reviewer has mentioned. I hope they are watching the reviews and we'll do something about the portioning of the toppings! Besides the fact that they never announced our order and we were made to wait 45 minutes for our food, when they finally found it (yes, found it), it was nothing but attitude. Mind you, we went up onCe to ask if it was ready and they said it was being made. Zero apology, zero in terms of even remotely acknowledging that their system messed up and they made a mistake by not calling the order. After asking the guy manning the register why it had happened, he said things happen. Then proceeded to walk away and tell a joke to his colleague. It was at that point that we asked for a supervisor. When he found a supervisor, her, not knowing the situation, proceeded to tell my brother the food had been ready and we should have come up to pick it up.
