Worst poke I've ever had, and I've had a lot of poke. This place doesn't claim to be authentic, and it is far from authentic. But even so, I can enjoy good Americanized poke. But this place was just awful. First problem--fish was not fresh. I didn't even eat all of it because some of it tasted very off, like it had gone bad. Even the fish that didn't taste off was definitely not fresh. Second problem--the fish portions were tiny. I ordered half salmon, half tuna. There were maybe like a few cubes left in one of them, and instead of putting what was left in the bowl and then getting a fresh batch to fill up the scoop, she just put the few cubes in the bowl. It was like, maybe three or four cubes of that fish. WTF. Third problem--the toppings weren't great either. The mango they gave me was not ripe. It was hard, and flavorless. They could've done a better job with frozen mango. Fourth problem--the portions are very small. Like she gave me very little, even of the rice (*eye roll*). I had lower expectations for a place in Rockville, but this defied even those expectations. At the very least, the fish should be fresh. read more

I don't know if this location is associated with the one in the Rio or not. I personally prefer the Rio location. The extra toppings and such are out for the customer to select and put on their bowls at the Rio location. I also just didn't enjoy my bowl as much this time. Maybe it was the combination I selected. All the food was fresh though and the person behind the counter was very friendly and service oriented. I also liked their Miso soup, which I got for a yelp check-in. No lines at 11:45am on Saturday! Good service, nice staff. So healthy and yummy. Decided on poke because Mian was mobbed. Did not regret it - there were no tables left inside, so went to eat at Town Center. $11.50 for 2 proteins. Drinks are canned or bottled, no fountain. Free parking lot, enter on Beall Avenue, overflow parking is in the underground lot. There is currently no gate to get in the underground lot, but that might change. Came here around noon on Tuesday. While walking in , I've noticed that there was a Poki DC which I was happy about. There wasn't any customers at that time so I took the chance to try it . I usually get poki in Virginia located in the block, which is really good and I was hoping that this Poki spot could exceed it since I live in the moco area, but I was highly disappointed. I ordered the two protein bowl which contained spicy tuna and salmon. As I was watching them make it, I saw how very little they gave for each thing . The amount of rice I received was less than half and the bowl itself wasn't even filled to the half line. I'm not sure if they're still in the process of training but I wasn't satisfied with my first visit with Poki DC. I guess I expected too much from them. Also for a bowl at a price of 12.19 with tax, that's pretty expensive for what I got. It wasn't very fulfilling. Two stars for that. On the positive note, the protein was very fresh and the employee recommended me a crunch topping which was pretty good when mixed together with the protein and base toppings. This place takes FOREVER. The food is okay as long as you're not in any kind of rush. Ordered a tempura curry bowl, which took THIRTY MINUTES to come out. People GIVE BIRTH in less time than that. After I waited the initial 20 minutes, I asked about my order. The lady told me it would be out in 2 minutes, so apparently they don't know how to tell time either. I give this place 5 stars mostly for the unlimited amount of toppings you can add to your poke bowl. They have a lot of unique base options, including zucchini noodles and quinoa brown rice. As for protein options, I always get salmon and ahi tuna; they have both marinated or unmarinated, spicy or nonspicy. They have a ton of different toppings that, as I already mentioned, are all included (except for adding a hard boiled egg...). I've always enjoyed my poke creation, and end up having a ton of food with all the toppings I add! read more

I've been there couple times now. During my last visit, I had the chicken and shrimp as my protein and half salad half brown rice quinoa as my base. There are plenty of options on toppings and sauces. I love being able to add extra imitation crab and seaweed as topping. I'll preface my review with the fact that I've been to the Rio location in Gaithersburg, and loved it. This weekend, I ate at their Rockville location with a friend. Your experience seems to depend on the person serving you. The guy scooping my fish and toppings clearly couldn't hear me, and was scooping items seemingly at random (before I had even named them). He was also stingy with the fish (maybe 3-4 pieces per scoop). My friend, on the other hand, had someone else serving her, and her scoops were much more generous. Sadly, it was the most disappointing poki experience I've had in the area (other than Nalley Fresh, which doesn't specialize in poki, so they're off the hook). The flavors were on point, but the service left much to be desired. I will say that Poki DC responded to my review on Square, and offered to make it up to me, so good on them for their response to my less than satisfactory experience. To be frank, Poki DC was mediocre at best... I am a huge poke fan and I have had my fair share of poke from all over the place. This place is not comparable to some of the better poke places I've been to. The portion was not worth the price and the ingredients weren't amazing. Considering it's a "food hall" type of location, I didn't give it any less than 2 stars since my expectation wasn't that high to begin with. The quality and freshness of the ingredients is poor. The bowl is not worth the money. My radish was either oxidized or even rotten. They shouldn't be serving food that might be rotten and could cause people to be sick. Overall the poke bowls are over rated. read more

Food was good, concept is great (love the free unlimited veggies). But a big issue for me--management uses Square for credit card purchases. Square = unwanted spam e-mails :( Think about it management, do you personally like getting spam e-mails? It's even worse to get them when the only possible "consent" you could have given was swiping your card with the intent to purchase a product (not agree to marketing spam). A proper response isn't, "you can click unsubscribe after the first time we bug you." Square doesn't respect opt-out filters in their program and I'm already annoyed at wasting my time with a business I already gave money to. Square, Constant Contact, and other auto-spam marketing companies aren't necessary to thrive. You'll earn a better reputation by always making "opt-out" a customer's default instead of automatically opting them in. Yelpers--this doesn't have to be our "new normal". I hope you'll join me in asking businesses (and credit cards) to stop this auto-spamming trend! read more

First time trying poke and it wasn't too spectacular. I came in on a Friday night before the dinner rush and the staff seemed unhappy to be working there. The food was alright, but definitely overpriced. The protein options were underwhelming and some had run out when I came up to order. Poki DC is really good and I like coming to this location because its fast and easy, and there's generally seating available. My favorite is adding salmon, mango, & jalapeno (might sound weird but it's a delicious combo). They do charge extra for avocado but it seems like that's just standard. Good concept with the seafood and toppings and other goodies that you can have put in your bowl. Yummy. However, no napkins. When I asked why the attendant/cashier just giggled. Maybe they simply ran out. Hopefully keep more in stock for next time. We always need a napkin like we need a fork. :) read more
