Poke here is sooooooo good!!! I was skeptical coming from California, but this is better than some poke I've had there!!!! I've been here twice now (it was that good) and the fish has always been fresh, they have a solid topping selection, and their sauces are delish! They also have lots of boba drinks. I like the fruity tea ones and all the ones I've tried so far have been great! Would 1000000000% recommend coming here for your poke fix.
I've been searching for a good bubble tea place and I think I've finally found the spot. The ingredients were fresh, delicious, and it was a great location. The lady behind the counter was helpful. The entire restaurant was clean and tidy. Perfect first experience.
I was in town for a short visit, and I was looking for a good place to get some type of seafood or sushi. I found pokey. It was only a couple of blocks from my hotel, and I was a little hesitant when I initially walked in, and there were no customers. The person behind the counter told me that I had just missed the lunch rush but they're normally very busy so I decided to stay. I am very happy that I did it. Oh, I had the Ramen and Gyoza. Both were delicious. Absolutely amazing. The ramen's broth was mouthwatering. I will happily visit them again when I'm in town.
Another visit to our favorite Poke place in Hampton Roads! We were so happy to sample, once again, super fresh ingredients for custom poke, and their wonderful Pork Bone Broth Ramen with tender slices of meat. Pokey has the feel of a family business that really cares about providing helpful and friendly service. Always a pleasure!
Was on my way back to the hotel and saw that this place had bubble tea so I decided to stop in and see what they had. So glad I did cause WOW!! I got a peach green tea with strawberry popping balls and I had it 50% sweetened. All I can say is YUM!!!! The flavor of this drink was so delicious and it wasn't too expensive. About $6 for a medium. Will definitely go back if I'm ever in the area!!
Absolutely delicious! (Endometriosis friendly) My poke bowl was delivered within a reasonable time. It came in this reusable tote bag (Bonus points). I ordered through DoorDash so I'm unsure of what the restaurant looks like.
Delicious so many combinations you can make with the ingredients provided. The portions are very generous and service is excellent not to mention quick to be served. I would recommend the ramen as well it's probably my favorite on the menu depending on how you make your bowl will determine whether it'll taste good! Choose wisely..
Great poke at this place! The service was super fast, the server had all three of our poke bowls assembled all at the same time. We were in and out of there within 10 minutes which was nice for three hungry girls. I wish the protein serving was a little bigger since there's so much toppings and rice but overall everything was super delicious! I highly recommend this poke place!
Love this little gem. Nestled and nondescript. If you walk by too fast you might miss it. But, inside you'll find great bubble tea, fresh ingredients, yummy ramen and poke, and great customer service. The staff are extremely helpful and ordering is easy and convenient with detailed instructions and little slips of paper you fill out. I also had ramen, but ate it before I thought about taking a picture lol. It's never super busy so it's typically a nice quiet environment when eating inside. If you're in downtown Norfolk looking for bubble tea, ramen, or poke, this is the place you wanna go!
I've been eating at Pokey for years now, and the quality has never diminished. When it comes to Poké bowls, Pokey is my go-to. Not only do they have bowls, but they also do sushi burritos, ramen, desserts, and bubble tea! Everyone who works there is diligent and mixes the ingredients with love and affection. I say this because every bite I take, no matter what part of the bowl I'm in, is packed with flavor. I don't feel like there's too much rice, it's all properly portioned. My favorite part is how much sauce they add with the mix-ins. You can also request sauce on top as well! My poke bowl started off with brown rice as the base. Raw salmon is my favorite protein (the cooked shrimp mixes well with it too!). I chose the mix-ins mango, pineapple, edamame, and cucumber with miso, sweet mango, and classic poke sauce. Next layer had crab salad, (avocado on occasion), seaweed salad, and sweet corn. I top it with furikake, tempura crisps, and sesame seeds and ask for a drizzle of spicy mayo and eel sauce to finish. My order today was delivered and it arrived way before the estimated arrival time and came in an adorable box! All the utensils were there and some napkins and soy sauce. The people who work there are kind and generous. They make quality food and quality drinks! I love their milk teas! They also have punch/stamp cards that can earn you free boba or a free poke bowl after ordering enough times! I've used up quite a few try them out!
Pokey is one of my favorite places in Downtown Norfolk. There poke burritos are delicious, albeit a little on the smaller size. The Poke bowls themselves more than makeup for that. They are large and filling and the amount of choices are outstanding. From numerous kinds of protein- tuna, salmon, shrimp, and yellowtail, to so many different types of toppings and dressings. Recently, I tried the Ramen for the first time and all I can say is wow. I egg and soy allergy and they were able to accommodate me. But what set them apart were the Kale Noodles. You read that Kale noodles. I was blown away. It was soo good and exactly what I wanted on a rainy cold day.
Norfolk finally has it's very own local option for sushi burritos made with fresh ingredients and I couldn't be happier. Lemme tell you, there is nothing like taking that first bite out of a sushi burrito that's dripping with spicy mayo. Whew Chile, it is everything! Anyways, I came into Pokey with my best friend for dinner recently and we both left very satisfied. My burrito had spicy tuna, salmon, shrimp, mango, avocado, seaweed salad, and crab, and it was all so good and filling as well! In addition, I also had one of their large taro milk tea with tapioca pearls and it was amazing. The man who prepared our food was pretty nice and gave us 10% off our orders for posting pics of our food and tagging them on social media! All in all, Pokey is a lovely addition to Downtown Norfolk and I can't wait to try more of what they have to offer.

I've been to Pokey plenty of times at this point, and I just went again this time with my man who is super picky and even he agreed the wings were really good. We got the sweet chili Thai wings and the soy garlic wings. Both were delicious. He said they tasted the same, but I don't fully agree they're both on the sweeter side, but you can still tell the difference in flavor. Either way, both are really good and I'd get them again. He also got the taro boba. He liked it, but I personally am not a fan of their taro boba. It has this powdery taste to me that I don't get from other places, so I usually skip the drinks there. There was a bit of a mix-up with ordering. They have a value deal where you get 6 wings + a boba for about $9.95. I accidentally ordered just the wings for $8.95 thinking I'd be getting more wings for the price. That wasn't the case it was still just 6 wings. My man got the value deal and basically got the better deal with the drink included. I tried to see if I could just pay the dollar difference to add the boba after, but they said no since the order was already placed, so lesson learned: just get the combo. Even with that, the wings are still worth it. Also, the dumplings are really good the pork ones especially. I think I liked the beef ones a little more last time, but these were still solid. Overall, I'd definitely recommend sticking with the value combo and just going for the wings and dumplings. That's the best part of the menu for me. read more

Stopped in for a boba drink, quick friendly service. The tapioca balls were just ok in flavor and texture...maybe not too fresh? Strange flavor of the dirty brown sugar boba tea. The place looks like an ice cream parlor more so than a place for ramen and poke, very brightly lit. read more

Monday lunch with a friend that's a CA transplant and Poke veteran. We each got bowls (1 rice, 1 salad) with 2 proteins (ahi/salmon, ahi/scallops) and scored 2 FREE Boba teas thanks to an advertised special. Total cost, $25 + tip. Downtown parking challenges aside, Pokey had lots to offer: clean, quiet (a bit too quiet), ample seating, easy to navigate menu and well staffed. Both employees were helpful and moved quickly. When I stalled in sauce choices, one asked "like sweet, salty, savory, or spicy?" After I said "sweet and salty," they made a sample concoction to taste that was excellent! "Yes, I'll take that." This is the Hawaiian equivalent of Moe's/Subway as BYO (build your own) food culture applies here among an abundance of customizable mix-ins and toppings (that I actually like), included at one price. My combo of mangos, jalapeños, edamame, cucumbers, sweet corn, seaweed salad, ginger, wasabi, masago, and avacados (lone upcharge item, +$1) was very good; the fresh composition of ingredients + greens blended beautifully with the flavor profiles of the sauce combo (miso and mango?), not to mention a healthy portion served in a resealable to-go container (that didn't make it out of the place - I was hungry). Easily a 4.5! Oh, it was ready in under 5 minutes, perfect for 30 minute lunch breaks! I RARELY consume dairy but hey, a FREE boba is a FREE boba. You can select your sweetness level, though I didn't know "0" was an option. I liked the hint of green tea but ultimately it's not my thing; the milk is filling and dominates the overall flavor, plus negates any little health benefit. It gets a 3.5 from me. Long and the short? Pokey is a place I'll definitely return to, especially incentivized by a rewards card, "buy 10 (poke), 11th is free!" It will be interesting to see the foot traffic on a different day of the week (it was empty today). read more

Clean, fresh, and vibrant! Pokey is located in the heart of downtown Norfolk, the ideal location for takeout and a picnic at Town Point Park. Options are plentiful and unlike other poke restaurants, most toppings are no additional cost. I got a create your own bowl with half brown rice and half salad greens, with double spicy tuna and an array of toppings. Everything is easily customizable, and there is an option for a salad and sushi burrito, as well. Portions are generous! The other seafood options looked decent, but my spicy tuna tasted as if it were thawed out - had a strange consistency. All of the other toppings made up for it, however. My fiancé ordered the Taro boba tea (you can select varying levels of sweetness, which is nice), which was a refreshing way to follow up the meal. Was it my favorite poke bowl? No. Did it fit the bill? Yes! For those familiar with Zeke's - I prefer Zeke's for quality of fish, but Pokey for variety. read more

There was a great flavor profile from the fish and the spicy Mayo sauce. I was however, disappointed in the amount of fish they put to the rice. It seemed extra stuffed with rice, and there wasn't much fish to eat with the rice. I highly recommend adding some more of a crunch for a better dish - I myself added cucumbers, edamame, and green onion. The quality of all ingredients used was superb! I took mine to go read more
This place was so good, I came two days in a row! Got a half white rice, half salad bowl with spicy tuna, spicy mayo, avocado, masago, and spicy furikake - delicious! And I have never seen someone make a bowl so fast in my life - very impressive. read more

Due to COVID restrictions, there is no public restroom and no seating inside. Luckily, there is plenty of outdoor seating nearby on Granby Street and on the water. This is a great place to grab a quick on-the-lunch or a sweet treat after a meal (which is what we were looking for). My only complaint is that the lids aren't that secure so, my friend and I ended up spilling quite a bit on our clothes as we were drinking them. read more

It was ok. Was excited to try this place, bring my daughter, & enjoy a delicious lunch on our first day of vacation. I felt so good the day we visited. There was spring in my step, song in my heart, I was walking on sunshine, and craving good poke!!! Walked into a gorgeous, bright, & clean establishment, three employees at the counter, and no greeting. Service felt rushed by a younger Asian female employee who had a stern look. She spoke in her native language during our entire order at the counter to two other associates who were much more friendlier. She spoke politely in English to a Caucasian male customer, smiled, and asked if he needed anything else. My daughter even noticed. This employee's rude & unfair treatment possibly set the stage for my meal & the duration of my dining experience. Boba tea was ok. Too many tapioca pearls, very sweet, & the drink was warm. I've had it served cold at other establishments. Not sure how it should be served. Not sure of the purpose for the high-end shaking machine. It didn't taste like it made a difference. We did not finish this drink. This was my daughter's first bowl which I clearly stated(because I was happy & excited) and advised she may need some help. I was hoping the female employee would have been more helpful, speak, or at least smile. I, too, am fairly new to this poke bowl experience and would have preferred interaction. I am familiar however with fishing, fresh fish, Korean Chirashi(which are very similar IMO depending who makes it), sushi, customer service, life, etc.. I digress. With the lack of patience, recommendations, & basic social skills, my daughter's bowl was lame. Bland. Blah. I could've made it at home for much less and served it with a smile. My bowl was beautiful & plentiful. I chose all of the toppings, half salad, & half rice. I opted for the Japanese sauce and Spicy Mayo. The male employee was more helpful & descriptive with sauce selection. I munched while mixing up my bowl. The toppings were delicious. Sauce was ok. It could've probably used more. Salmon was acceptable. The yellowtail had a tainted borderline spoiled flavor. I stopped eating about half way through the bowl & couldn't finish. Portion was a lot and the taste of the yellowtail killed it for me. Eating raw fish is basically playing Russian Roulette. I left spending approximately $30 for poor service and lackluster poke. Maybe it was an off day. Maybe it was the rude associate. I did not enjoy. First impression is everything. This was my experience at Pokey and clearly not everyone else's. Definitely check them out since 98 percent of reviews are greater than 4 stars. That's why I was dying to try & unfortunately for me, did not meet expectations. read more

4.5 Stars I recently got addicted to Poke so I am trying to find the best poke place in Hampton Roads. Pokey is the 3rd restaurant I visited. Pokey is located in Granby St. in Norfolk. Compared to other poke places, they also serve cakes and boba tea. The best thing about this place is their customer service. The staff is very helpful and offered to give samples of the sauces. The ambiance of the restaurant is great and is really clean. Their portioning is huge and has the biggest bowl out of the 3 poke restaurants I've been to. They only offer up to 3 proteins for the bowls. The 2 proteins are for $10.95 and 3 protein are for $12.95, which is a little pricey compared to the others. I got the shrimp protein and spicy ponzu and mayo. From the food taste, the classic poke and spicy mayo sauces are great as well and I'm thinking of putting that on my next visit. The only thing I was kind of disappointed is their crab salad. It seems very plain to me. My bowl tasted good and is very delicious. When I almost finished my bowl, I kind of wanted to get another bowl. On my next visit, I might try their bobas as well. Also, I am glad that they offer punch cards for a free poke after 10 pokes. I also love that they have promotions like 30% on poke every Saturdays. So if you are around downtown Norfolk or just going to the mall, make sure to stop by at this place. Pokey is definitely on the top 2 on my favorite poke reataurants. read more

I have visited this place twice now. First time I got bubble tea and it was great. Pretty standard with the options and you can choose your sweetness level. Second time I went I tried a poké bowl. This was my first time having poké but I've heard great things. I wasn't disappointed. I got the sushi rice and 2 proteins (shrimp and scallops). There are a lot of topping options ranging from spicy to sweet. I got seaweed salad, crab salad, and a few other things. There are about 6-8 different sauces to choose from and you can mix and match. They let me try before I chose so that was helpful! Overall I was very impressed and glad to finally try poké. Staff was a little short handed with only one person working/managing the store. I was in no rush so it didn't bother me. But he took his time and helped me figure out what I wanted. Be sure to get a stamp card so you can keep coming back and get rewarded. I was so full leaving, and had about 1/3 of my bowl leftover so I think I got my money's worth! It seems that on Saturday they discount bowls 30%. read more
This review is just for their poke bowls, we didn't try the ramen or bubble teas. We LOVED their poke bowls! The ingredients are fresh and well-presented. The employees are really nice and attentive. This is a new favorite spot for a quick to-go meal when we're downtown. Yum! read more
I always get excited when I hear of a new eatery in Downtown Norfolk. Finding a place to eat around here on your lunch break is never a problem-- however when you want something unique such as poke, you can't just "walk" across the street for some...till now! Pokey has just been opened for 2 weeks. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted with a friendly smile. The place is bright and clean. If you're new with trying poke bowls, not to worry; they help you select everything from the rice to the selection of toppings- and it's a nice selection! Not to mention- unlimited! As the other places that serve poke, avocado is an extra charge. At Pokey, the charge is $1. (Go to the "other" place down the street, it's a ridiculous $2). I got the 2 protein mix with half salmon and half tuna with the classic poke sauce. The sauce is a little on the spicy side, but has just the right amount of flavor. The portion is HUGE! You definitely get your money's worth, because for me this is enough for lunch and dinner! Oh-and another good thing, they don't charge you a credit card fee (again, like that other place)! This is my new spot in Norfolk for fresh, tasty and affordable poke! read more

I happened to be visiting Norfolk and saw a lot of great reviews for this place. My review is based on my UberEATS order. I ordered a sushi burrito and a milk tea with boba. The sushi burrito came in a box without any wrap and just rolling around in the box which seemed unsanitary. Luckily my hands were clean when I was eating this but usually sushi burritos come with a paper wrapping (like for sandwiches) so it threw me off that the burrito had no wrapping. It was still good and I enjoyed it. The milk tea boba was good too. To be honest, I was scared to eat poke sushi in Norfolk since I'm picky about eating fish and especially sushi, but I didn't get sick and the sushi burrito was good. read more
