Stopped by Pokeworks recently for a Sunday evening dinner before heading to a movie. The dining room is neat, clean, and comfortable in a fast casual sort of fashion. They were primarily bustling with takeout orders when we were there. I think we were the only ones dining in. I ordered a build your own poke bowl while I was there and love how customizable everything is. The resulting bowl was fresh, flavorful, and filling. I ordered a bowl and a couple sides for delivery. I was really looking forward to my meal, but ultimately I was disappointed. I created a regular sized poke bowl. 90% of it is rice. An ingredient (green onion) is missing. There is one single piece of cucumber and hardly any crispy onions. If there is sauce in the bowl at all, I can't tell. The seaweed salad and furukake Mac are really good! But this bowl is extremely underwhelming, especially for the price. I love poke bowls so maybe it'll be worth giving it another shot but I'm more likely to try somewhere else instead the next time I get a craving. read more

We were excited to re-try this place - we had come here a couple years ago when it first opened and saw there were new Hawaiian dishes. We were really disappointed with our experience. We purchased 2 custom bowls and then 2 of the new Hawaiin dishes - Salmon and chicken. The poke bowl is the worst poke I have had. First, the portion or rice is too much. The rice was soggy and warm like they microwaved it right before putting it in the bowl, which made the fish taste worse. There was not enough meat overall. The sauce was subpar with very little depth and flavor. The fish was not fresh. The overall presentation of the new Hawaiian bowls were messy. There was no teriyaki sauce coated on the salmon. The macaroni salad was spicy not good for young kids. 2/10 for the macaroni salad. I would not recommend this place based on this experience. Wasted over $60+ on 4 bowls and salvaged only the meat and veggies to eat. Had to make fresh rice at home to go with it. Wasted our time and $$$. Skip this place and go to Tosa instead for Hawaiian food and poke bowls. read more

Third time to the location. Ingredients seems consistently fresh, quick and friendly service, love the topping options and mix/matching sauces. Recommend mixing the sriracha aioli with shoyu for sweet and spicy combo. Friend was not a fan of the new Mac side. Very solid reliable poke location! read more

Catered for a lunch at work and Pokeworks delivered. Everything was delivered on time and even a little before the requested time which meant I actually had time to set up without a normal rush lol. There was the perfect amount of food- we were expecting 28 so I had ordered for 30. Pokeworks provided serving utensils, forks, and really nice bowls that even had lids. We had just a little bit left of each of the proteins so nothing ran out which is always our goal when we have a hosted lunch For many this was a first time having poke myself included. I'm not big on seafood so I had the chicken which was delicious! I added more edamame to it along with sweet corn, pineapple, garlic crisps and Serrano aioli! So good! read more

Did not know what to get for lunch so decided to walk into Pokeworks. I decided to get a bowl instead of the burrito--which I usually order when I get Poke. Concept is the same as in the other Poke establishments I visited. The portions are quite generous, and will fill you up for the afternoon, but are not too heavy on the stomach if you plan to eat dinner later. I like this healthy choice for lunch and Pokeworks delivers a decent bowl for lunch. I like it but I really have to be in the mood for it, or have no better option. read more

If you want a place that is gluten free, this is a good option. Been to FreshFin Poke, Pokeworks, Greenfish Poke and R&R Poke. I would rank the four in this order: 1. R&R Poke, 2. FreshFin Poke and 3. Pokeworks 4. Greenfish Comparing apples to apples, I'll tell you why Pokeworks comes in third. A franchise restaurant, so local owned and operated. Quality... the quality of the ingredients in my opinion is just not on par with R&R or FreshFin down the street. The sauces are just okay. I didn't get that flavorful taste and complexity in their sauces and bowls as I did with R&R and FreshFin. Everyone's taste buds are different, so perhaps you will disagree and say this is the best. I'm just telling you how I perceive it. I don't know where they source their fish, but their fish didn't have the same flavor or taste either. They do believe in responsibly-sourced seafood as more than just a trend. Very clean and organized place though. Service... very efficient and fast service every time I have visited. Made to order so a little wait. If you are expecting fast food timing then this isn't the place. There is good amount of indoor seating. Most recently, Pokeworks has new inspiration for their menu with newest chef-collaborator, Sheldon Simeon. Sheldon is an alumnus of Bravo's Top Chef and the executive chef/owner of Maui's Tin Roof. He has crafted a series of Signature Works for Pokeworks which I have not tried yet so perhaps the rating gets better. If you have read my reviews and ranking for R&R, FreshFin and now Pokeworks perhaps you see a trend in my preference. Tried the shrimp with crab salad, avacado, kale noodles (omg those are SO good!) Portions are pretty small so I wouldn't say it was enough to satisfy my hungry stomach had I not had snacks prior to, but it was really fresh and flavorful! I'm a fan of poke so I knew I had to check out Pokeworks. They did not disappoint! I got the shiso salmon which comes with atlantic salmon, green and sweet onion, edamame, cucumber, sesame seeds, shiso and their ponzu fresh sauce. I also added a scoop of avocado, crab salad, crispy onion strings, and for fun, a scoop of spicy salmon. It was delicious and fresh, with all the different flavors melding together in a harmonious way! My husband got the Hawaiian Classic and he, a tuna-lover, was a big fan. We also tried the spam musubi, which is a little rectangle rice cake with a brown sauce, topped with fried spam and wrapped around the middle with nori. It was a delicious little bite. The menu is a little overwhelming so I recommend sticking to a pre-made bowl before you dive deep into a custom bowl. They also do not serve their mango coconut haipua in the winter, just the warmer months, which was a bummer because I really wanted to try it. With so many poke places popping up in Milwaukee, it's difficult to differentiate where to go. I choose Pokeworks because you get more toppings than other places for the same price, you can choose a spicy salmon or spicy tuna as one of proteins, the flavors of the sauces are much better, and the best part - the kale noodles as a base. These cold noodles are just so good which makes such a difference than your standard sushi rice. The people behind the counter are always helpful and friendly. The poke wave is hitting Brookfield. Pokebowl joins the expansion of brining fresh tuna and salmon bowl eating to the burbs. After what we had today, we will be glad to have them out here. The restaurant is very clean feel to it. White walls with wood accents give it that west coast beach feel. Seating is the same with wood tables and chairs. Plenty of space for everyone, with large and small tables. The menu is on the wall behind the staff. First thing to do is pick your protein and base. Tuna, salmon, spicy salmon and several others. Even a vegan option with tofu. Base is sushi rice, brown rice, salad or noodles. As you progress down the counter you choose the type of sauce. They have quite a few to choose from, basic to spicy. Then you are off to the toppings. Edamame and seaweed, cucumbers and mangos keep the bowl fresh. They several finishing touches to add at the end. The staff was helpful and gave good suggestions on the way through. Everything went very smooth. They came to the table to check on the food. Love! Love! Love this place! I can't get enough POKE and so happy new places keep popping up all over. This place is great! You have lots of options of how you want your Poke. You can choose a bowl, burrito, salad or noodles. You can create your own or order one of their signature dishes. And the best part is you can modify a signature dish by adding or subtracting items with no additional charge unless specified ex: avocado and macadamia nuts. When I walked in I was immediately greeted and asked if I've been there before. When I said I had not she instantly explained how their establishment works. I decided to try the spicy Ahi bowl. I got half sushi rice and half kale noodles. I was able to add some additional items to my bowl and also tried their miso soup. The soup was a little bland probably would not order it again, but the bowl was out of this world. Everything was so fresh and delicious I can't wait to got back to try some more signature bowls!!!! I eat here at least once every 2 weeks because I am absolutely obsessed. I have had other poke in the area, and it doesn't compare in my opinion. I usually do a custom ''Poke Your Own Way'' bowl because I love having a ton of toppings! There's a large variety of toppings such as seaweed salad, masago, fresh fruit/veggies/herbs, surimi salad, tofu, nori, and so much more. The sushi grade fish is also extremely fresh and they give you a good portion especially for the price. Don't ever order from here. Just ordered a spicy tuna and salmon bowl. More like a bowl of slop! Two pieces tuna or salmon, so much sauce I had to throw it out after two bites, the avocado they gave me that i paid extra for was basically a scoop of guac. Disgustingly made and service was terrible. I recommend ANY other poke place. Whoever was working at 2:19pm on 8/15/21 I'm blown away that you would consider what you made to be appetizing. There were barely any greens or protein and I basically got handed a bowl of soupy sauce. This location was close to my house so I figured I'd give it a try but this is the POOREST excuse of a poke bowl and I pray that the person who made it was new or just a terrible employee.. safe to say I have not and will not ever recommend this place to anyone I know and will from here on out recommend RnR Poke in Wauwatosa as long as I live in this city. read more

03/07/19 update. I have been back here several times since I reviewed. Still 5 stars. The people who work here are so nice, that alone could convince me to choose pokeworks. But today I realized while I was there that pokeworks not only has the most topping options, but I got a bowl with tons of extras and extra salmon etc and it was WAY cheaper than other places when you get extras. I enjoy poke here so much more than anywhere else. I will ALWAYS come here!--------- I stopped in last week when I noticed they were open. The employees were VERY kind and helpful, they gave wonderful customer service. I made a few changes to what I wanted in my bowl and they were very accommodating. My food was delicious and the drinks they have here are AMAZING! I tried a few sips in my fountain cup and two of the drinks they serve tasted like pie. I had a hard time choosing which drink I wanted to fill my cup with completely. I'm very happy to know there's a poke place nearby but even if it was far I would come here again because the employees really made my night. P.S. get the lotus chips, they're so good read more

I picked up food from here once doing food delivery and decided that this place looked good so we decided to give it a try. My wife, daughter, and I love Poke so this place peaked our interest. We liked the idea of being able to get them in burrito forms. We were also excited that they kind of had the Subway still where they assemble it right in front of you so you can customize it as you go Unfortunately, we were not impressed with the end results. Maybe we just all suck at putting together dishes? The dishes we ordered just seemed to lack flavor, and were a bit on the dry side. Put it this way, our favorite Poke place is just West of here and we would go there long before we would come here again. That being said, I wouldn't mind trying one of their burritos. read more

Killer good! Loved the options and upgrades, for example macadamia nuts and avocado! The protein selection is tremendous with ahi and spicy tuna but options like chicken and salmon for those a little scared of scallops or organic tofu. Impressive call out - they were checking the temperature and making notes on the fish when I can in about 130pm. :) Great and friendly service. The rewards program is clutch and well keep us striving to get some freebies. Outstanding drink selections and hot soups make the icing on the cake. They have changing tables!! Love poke! This place was a little intimidating when I first arrived, though. There were so many choices of pre-configured poke bowls, as well as the option to modify any of those or create one of your own from scratch. I've seen this a lot from many of the newer fast casual restaurants. They seem to think that the more choices the better. However, sometimes all those choices can be overwhelming. Fortunately, the workers here were very helpful in working through all the options. I had Top Chef Sheldon's Lava Bowl - a very spicy option created, apparently, by Sheldon from Top Chef. I'm not sure if he is an owner or investor in Pokeworks, or if he was just brought in for this special. Even though I thought that by ordering a pre-configured bowl, I wouldn't have any other decisions to make, actually, I went down the line and was asked at every station what I'd like added to my bowl. Although that was a little annoying, the bowl turned out to be delicious, in the end. I don't usually think of service all that much at these types of restaurants. I mean, you stand in line, walk down the length of the food line, and tell the servers what you want added to your order. Nothing special. The service here stood out, however. Their eagerness to educate you on the menu and on how things worked was great. Checking in mid-meal to see how you liked it - okay, that is just unheard-of in this type of place, but it happened here. Kudos for service to Pokeworks! Great food. We got this tonight after seeing good reviews across the board. I'm convinced there's fish in my spicy salmon bowl because it smells ever so slightly fishy, but there isn't a single chunk of salmon in this. It is without a doubt the worst poke I've ever had. You shouldn't expect amazing poke in Wisconsin, but FreshFin was at least pretty good with real fish. And I'm not expecting poke to rival a bowl you find at a market in Kauai, but this is unbelievably bad. This stuff is completely inedible. We asked for light sauce and it's smothered. And I'm not kidding, there is NO visible salmon. Avoid this place. I can't think of a single reason to offer this more than a single star. The rice is good? The sauce is flavorful, despite being overwhelming? I guess it's a tolerable vegan bowl? Where's the fish? read more
