I went to pokemoto for dinner and got the build your own bowl. The food is fine...however, it is very obvious that the food had been sitting out for a very long time. For example, the avocado on the line was brown not green, and the shrimp had a squishy consistency. The staff when we arrived was friendly enough but it was very obvious that they did not want us to be there. We had planned on eating there but ending up taking it home because the vibes were just extremely off. read more

Pokemoto, I used to you. I have been there ever week since they opened, including taking my family. I thought the concept was fresh and interesting. When you ordered a bowl, you got a bowl of delicious food...until today! Today, you had a very young, clearly poorly trained person making the food and checking people out. May I suggest an experienced person be in the restaurant at all times. Where are the owners, adults that have a financial stake in the business? You charge 15.00+ a bowl and half a bowl with a tablespoon of protein, 5 edamene isn't worth it. Today the tea was sickingly sweet. The two young ladies working were not overly friendly. Although, the young man, who unfortunately didn't serve me today has always been awesome. If you walk in and it looks like High School Music is working, turn around and try another restaurant or another day. I won't be back! read more

It is in a small strip center that appears to be populated mostly by finance companies and staffing agencies. It is a nice part of town, but not the best part of town. There is a nailed place and a Chiropractor I think. Let's get to the main event. The poke is awesome. I use brown rice as a base and then went with spicy tuna. I went large so I got four scoops of fish and let me tell you this was some really good poke. I added cucumbers, onions cilantro , pineapple, so mine had a really sweet flavor to it and I also had them put some tempura crunchy over the top of it. It was in my opinion the best bowl of poke I have ever had. That is saying something as I have had tuna poke all over the southeast And the West Coast and up the Atlantic seaboard. It is one of my favorite dishes. I think the fact that everything was ice cold, and the place was incredibly sanitary, added to my enjoyment. All of the vegetables were fresh. All of the fruit was cold. The fish was cold. The rice was the right consistency. Nothing was dried out, nothing was wilted, and everything tasted as it should. There were a lot of young people coming in having dinner, it's near an anytime fitness center so you do get to see a lot of fit young people that are enjoying a good healthy meal. They also have Ramen, it's a spicy Korean Ramen, which I wanted to have a small bowl of, but it only comes in one size bowl. It's not a huge, but it was more than I needed after having a large poke. I would go back again and again, this is my third trip to this restaurant in the last two years, I think it's a good place and I recommended.

The BIGGER story. I specifically came to this restaurant because there was only one review on yelp and it was a 2-star review, at that. In the 2-star review, the reviewer admits that she went to the restaurant every week since it opened. What puzzled me was her only review was about the one bad experience and decided not to ever return. She stated the staff wasn't overly friendly and they were too young to be there without having better management oversight (or something like that). This was not my experience whatsoever. There were three young ladies in there working, smiling and my son and I were greeted with a smile. The food was good, the service was good and the portions were appropriate. There was one girl there that I think was being trained. I enjoy seeing new trainees, especially teenagers who are trying to enter the workforce and are learning how to be adults, which is a process that hopefully never ends for each of us. I don't know why there was an unfriendly experience with the other reviewer, but think about it. Everyone has bad days Some teenagers have to work because they have to help pay bills. Some teenagers don't have both parents at home (I didn't). Some could possibly be tired from working another job they may have. I wish there was more grace in this world for everyone and I extend that to the 2-star reviewer Go back, over tip, make there day, engage the people that may seem unfriendly with a smile. There is possibly a reason they are not smiling so help turn it around. I also have bad days and bad experiences, but I refuse to pay negativity forward. There is too much of that in our society and I'm tired of it. My questions to the previous reviewer are why did you not once leave a positive review the other several times you were there? Where was the kindness in trying to help a new business owner get more business? I admit I don't review every place I go, whether it was good or bad. The reviewer certainly wanted to tell other people not to go there and to turn around. I don't know why from her several positive experiences, you she wasn't encouraging people to go there. Maybe she had a bad day and I understand that. People need redemption and forgiveness every day, and that's what I hope comes from this post. If anyone is actually still reading this, let's try this. Pay positivity forward, even on your 1- star days because we all have them and we all need someone to smile at us. I hope you have a great day, and if it's a 1-star day, hang on because a 5-star day is around the corner. I had family visiting from NC. I took them twice while they were here! We all loved it. Most of us had bowls and bobas. Some had a spam musubi snack. Everything tasted so fresh and good. Personally, I don't usually eat this type of food. But, after the first time I tried it, it was so good that it has become one of my faves! Even my smaller grandkids like the kids meals. I like that you can choose what you want in your bowl and the servers are so helpful in making your choices. Wasn't sure about the sauces and they let me sample several before choosing. We loved the interior. Made us feel like we were on vacation in the islands. Great spot to take pics too. The kids like the high table with the games to play. I recently visited Pokomoto Auburn and had an incredible experience! I started with the mango fruit tea with lychee Boba, which was absolutely refreshing and delicious. For my main meal, I had a bowl with my desired fixings, and I was blown away by the freshness and quality of the ingredients. The service was out of this world - the staff greeted me warmly as soon as I walked in the door and were super friendly throughout my visit. The atmosphere was amazing, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment. Overall, Pokomoto Auburn exceeded my expectations in every way.
