Steak Street Tacos
Kayla H.

They do not take reservations and you never know how busy they will be. Convenient location. The service is pretty slow and unorganized. Our waitress charged us for extra margaritas that we did not order/drink and seemed very annoyed with my table when we asked for the charges to be taken off. The chips were hot and fresh. I had the steak street tacos. The tortillas were dry and the rice was very bland. The margaritas are good and reasonably priced ($29 for a pitcher). Overall, not impressed.

I've given this place about a dozen chances, mainly because of the convenient location, but they almost always manage to disappoint in some manner. Whether it's the server forgetting about you and having to flag someone down for your check, or inconsistent food, or screwed up to-go orders, it's always something. On my most recent visit - likely my last - my order of fajitas was provided with no tortillas (seriously...aren't tortillas a given with fajitas?) and my guacamole salad was a mess of wilted lettuce thrown without care into the box with a dollop of guacamole. This place survives purely because of lack of competition in a college town...and a not very discriminating clientele. Two stars only because the staff are friendly and generally try.

The restaurant is average at its best but that's not saying much since there are so many Mexican restaurants in Auburn. This place receives 2 stars because the food was edible and the service were average. I asked for warm water and the waiter didn't understand my request--he even got another waiter to try and interpret it for me to the extent at one point in this misunderstanding, they even asked 'can you explain to us how you make warm water?'. I ordered the chimichanga and out of all the chimichangas I've ever had, it was basically a bunch of ground beef stuffed into a tortilla wrap. The soft taco looked home made. Almost too home made. There was only cheese, chicken, and some lettuce and placed. I could've done it myself. The only thing that didn't make this place was the options you had in the a-la-carte portion of the menu. I'm curious now if Taco Bell could give me warm water.

Worst service, waited over an hour for our checks and they were wrong. The food was okay, it was very basic.

The people behind the counter were talking shit about me in Spanish and they didn't know I speak Spanish. The food tastes like dirty water.

Good house margaritas and very good service. I had chimichanga and taco salad, both were good. This is my go to place for Mexican.

About 15 minutes after eating here I became extremely sick. I wouldn't recommend eating here at all.

After driving all day, I just wanted a drink and some comfort food. This was close to the hotel and…read morehad better ratings than the other two Hispanic food places in town. I ordered the house marg (always a good barometer of a place), and they brought out a nice chalice and some chips and salsa while I looked over the menu. Chips were warm, salsa was spicy and cool - perfect temperatures! The dining room is mostly multi-top tables scattered in rows. Families, couples, and other groups were scattered around. There was a sports team of 9-12 year-old boys and their families eating at one long double table which was a bit rowdy, but not overly so for that age. Didn't really bother me, but I have lived through that age, and had kids that I'd take out as well. I've been to louder fast food joints on a late Spring Saturday night. The bar service person was friendly and answered my questions about different food combos. I eventually selected the birria tacos, and they came out in maybe five minutes, hot, and accompanied by a nice bowl of soup/sauce for dipping. I dove in and forgot to take pictures, it was so good. If you've not had birria before, it's a meat cooked in broth. Then the meat is placed in a partially cooked tostada, folded and grilled. Think a taco with warm ingredients, instead for cold items put into a cooked shell. You dip them in the liquid the meat was cooked in, kinda like an au jus sandwich. It's great! Birria is originally from Jalisco, MX, (home of ranchero music and tequila, so they know something!) and was made from goat, because the Spanish gave the peasants goats. Stewing made the tough meat better. But now it's usually beef. I'd definitely return if I were back in the area. I was here to celebrate a family birthday. It was a nice way to end a tiring day.

The customer service here is always amazing. The food is always good. This is my go to place when I…read moreget off work and want Mexican food. The process of the food is super affordable and the quality of the food is amazing. The margaritas are good and they are affordable as well.

Unfortunately, you can't give less than one star. If I could, it would be a .25! Very disappointed…read morein my lunch. I ordered a California steak burrito and it was awful. The description read like a burrito supreme, but it was a gummy concoction of rice with very few beans and pieces of steak and a tiny little bit of cheese. I cut it open and just ate a little bit of steak. The guacamole and sour cream that came with it were in a thimble size containers. The guacamole was tasteless and so thin it was almost a soup, the sour cream was OK. The cheese dip was very thin and tasteless. The salsa was OK, but the chips were stale. I ordered a virgin margarita which also appeared to be watered down and I was charged $7.25 like it contained alcohol. I spent $40 and was so incredibly disappointed. If I had not been with a friend, I would have sent the meal back and I should have. I just didn't want to cause a scene. This is the first time that I have felt compelled to write a review, but I felt like I needed to share this experience.

As I was paying the cashier he told me my total was $23 and some change. The cashier handed me my receipt to sign, and I saw that the total was $35. When I asked why, I was told there was a car charge. I looked at the receipt and sure enough, there was the car charge x'3 for two orders and I guess the third order was the chips and salsa that came with the meal. I told the cashier Why am I being charged almost $11 for a car charge for using my gas to come and pick up my own order? No answer. I got the food home and it was COLD. I will not be going back. Watch your receipts people!
