For someone who pays $5.01 for their large jasmine green tea with boba, after 19 drinks (almost $100) and finally accumulating the buy 10 get 1 free. I went in to redeem my free drink. They only give a small which is fine. I said with boba, and assumed as a regular they would at least give me the small with boba, nope, they said $.45 extra. Fine, I agreed. Gave them my debit card and he said, no we only can charge a $1. At this point they lost my business. To be honest as a small business, they need to understand the concept of being "customer-centric". But it's not my business to run, just giving the customers who's planning to visit an idea of the ethic. This is a money driven business and it's a turn off to someone who supports small business. I am all about Poke and this spot has been on my to do list after trying their Pasadena competitors. The medium bowl is almost $11 but they serve cool drinks vs. other places do not. I tried their Love Potion tea and it was adjusted to my preference of sweetness perfectly. Their salmon poke is amazing in the melt in my mouth kind of way and you could just tell it was fresh. I just went here today. I think this place is OK. I have been to their Flour + Tea location on Arroyo and I really like their teas. The drinks are pretty good and not that sweet. As for the poke I had today. First thing: The price and portion. I understand in Pasadena price will be more expensive then in Alhambra or Monterey Park area. That I get because of the location. But for a small bowl being $8.45 I believe and only getting 2 small scoops of fish is kind of expensive to me. Maybe because I have been to other Poke places in area Anaheim and Cerritos and the prices there are around the same but portion wise you get more. Like at Pokinometry in Anaheim, you order the large you get 5 scoops of fish and its like $9.75 something I think? Don't really remember. This place gives you really less for the price you pay. If you can't tell, I had the small portion. I ordered it with some greens and rice. 2 scoops of brown rice was enough. Fish portion was tiny and for some reason it wasn't cold. You know how when you eat poke anywhere, the fish is always cold but the rice is warm so making the whole dish balance each other? For some reason the fish was warm too. I was kind of afraid I would get sick cause it felt like it wasn't that fresh. Avocado is extra $0.75. I guess in my opinion, I thought that was kind of expensive. At least give 1 small scoop and if people want more then you can charge more you know? I just feel that the Poke here doesnt have a tasty wow factor. Maybe its just me. Parking: Parking is another issue I feel for this place. Because its located on Lake Ave, theres very limited parking. Mostly street parking that you need to pay. Its not super expensive. The girl who helped me was friendly and nice, but when I went during around 5pm the place was DEAD. Like completely dead. So a lot of the workers were just standing around talking. Sorry, but the quality of the Poke bowls are simply not that great anymore. The fish is not as fresh and has that "fishy" smell to it. I have lately tried the Ahi tuna, Spicy tuna and salmon, which were all really bad tasting. The toppings are decent, but there is a very limited selection that you can choose from, and all the 'premium' toppings cost an additional $1 or so each. There are a few other good poke places in Pasadena, so I won't be missing PokeMix, unless they get back to their usual quality ingredients and great service. I never get drinks here, so I cannot comment on that. read more

O.M.G.! Their poke is so tasty! The crab salad is so good, the Ahi Tuna and Salmon! Everything is fresh. Smells fresh, tastes fresh, looks fresh...it's just FRESH. I love the cucumber and toppings...they're also...you guessed it...super FRESH lol! That's always a make or break with poke. If ingredients seem old it totally kills the dish! They're super friendly and fast. I work in the Pasadena towers just off Colorado and Lake, and I got down from the 9th floor, ordered at PokeMix and back up to the 9th floor ALL IN UNDER 11 MINS. They're so quick and efficient. I definitely recommend, the only complaint I have is I wish they would make the scoops of fish just a TAD larger... but that just may be me being a fatty! read more

Good poke is hard to find and PokeMix definitely does it well. My favorite proteins are the ahi tuna, salmon, and the albacore. The spicy mayo sauce is really good. The staff is friendly and the line goes fast. It's not a bad place to study either so I will be making this one of my hang out spots. Parking is metered in the morning and afternoon. They do have their own lot out in the back, which is free after 6 pm. But they kept insisting and so I then asked for it on the side and they said no! It needs to be on the fish and I just said okay... Just a squirt of it.. The guy grabs the bottle and covers my fish and squeezes so much onto it.... It was just like what the heck... So I paid 20 dollars for something I didn't even want. Now my second time... Same thing, but this time with a girl. I come in and she goes um excuse me can you please hurry and order we're closing.. I then said you don't close for another 15 minutes... And she goes yeah but we're going to clean now.. So I said please give me a minute and she rolled her eyes at me. Granted the food looks appetizing and they give a lot and it's a nice set up... I was so happy when this location finally opened up! Flour + Tea was now right down the street from me. They made it a lot easier for me to grab my Lychee Oolong Iced Tea. This location however does not have the baked goods available that the other location used to have. But they do have a small selection of snacks available - probably made by the same bakers. I really like their poke bowls here! Their bowls are the perfect size for me, but might not be enough to fill the average person's stomach. If you're looking for a heavy poke bowl, I'd ask for a few extra scoops. They have your average selection of fish, but they also have some seasonal specials, just as they do with their drink menu). Last time, I tried their Hamachi fish from Japan, which is pretty unique for a poke shop. I would hands down order a scoop of that again if available. I also like that they have edamame and tofu as their toppings I usually recommend this place for a quick lunch. The line doesn't usually take too long and the workers here are quick to their feet. Lunch hour is the busiest I usually see them and they do close pretty early **Keep in mind they do have cold brew iced oolong tea available as well! Now that this is the only location, I hope they find a way to bring their baked goods over here because their cakes, clouds and other pastries really compliment their teas. read more

This is closer to a 2.5 than a 3. Service is pretty decent. The girl helping me seemed a bit confused/new, but she was nice and accommodating. I got a large poke bowl with a rather disappointing amount of protein. The protein itself is mixed with some onions and other small chunks of not-protein, so you get a lot less protein per scoop. Rice was... hard. Not in a "we didn't cook this with enough water" way, more like a "this has sitting out for a long time" kind of hard. The avocado is kind of guac-y (which is bizarre for poke tbh) and the tea egg was kind of stale. Fish was fresh, at least. The spicy sauces they use seem really out of place. They're not quite... poke-like. I've been to many poke places and they all have their own renditions of sauces, but PokeMix uses the garlic chili sauce (the Sriracha one) and it just didn't work at all. The spicy mayo was too thick too. House sauce was decent, though. If you mix the house sauce with the spicy mayo, it tastes more legitimate. I also got a taro slush. It wasn't amazing (I'm just picky about taro slush though), but it definitely wasn't bad. Wouldn't mind getting it again. Overall, I wouldn't have minded their shortcomings if the cost wasn't so high relative to the amount of food served. I don't think I'd ever return for the poke, but maybe for their drinks. read more

I have a poke spot by my home now. I'm so excited. A legit little poke bar, the place serves some awesome drinks as well. My girlfriend saw this place when we went to Pasadena to hit up the vitamin shoppe down the street and we decided on lunch. Its not a lot of food but the large is just enough. And because were fitness heads we like lean meats, simple carbs, sugars, etc. Definitely diet friendly. Been here twice in the same week and will most likely end up there again this weekend. I thought this place was pretty tasty and you can add a drink for just a dollar during the lunch specials, or something like that. I've been here a couple times and I usually get the ahi tuna and scallops or yellowtail. All the seafood are fresh, the portions are a little smaller but once you eat everything, you feel content with the meal. The poke bowl comes with seaweed salad, garlic chips, crispy nori, brown/white rice or salad as the base, cucumbers, spicy mayo, and furikake and some additional toppings like avocado and wasabi. Many of my patients who live in Pasadena, Altadena, Monrovia, Alhambra and San Gabriel visit this establishment weekly and no one has made any complaints about the portion size, price, taste or customer service. The toppings were pretty good. I feel like the options are pretty limited compared to PSB but comparable to Spinfish. I picked spicy mayo for the dressing. Trying to be good so just got a straight up salad. Scallops were pretty fishy. I could barely finish them. Spicy tuna and ahi tuna were really good. The greens were crispy and fresh. I think I added almost every non-meat topping that they had. I tried to save the food to share with my partner but it was so good that I ate it all myself. It was easy to order with the Yelp app and my food was ready on time. There is a short-term parking space in front of the business so if you order takeout you can run in and run out very quickly. First time at Poke Mix Flour and Tea. I love poke and Thai tea with boba. I wasn't sure how the build your own poke bowl worked but ideas immediately greeted by Alex. Everything is fresh. They had choices of poke salmon, poke tuna, spicy tuna, crab, and shrimp. The sides to go with your poke are just as yummy. Masago, seaweed salad, cucumber, avocado, edamame and of course poke sauce and many other sauces. Lots of different iced or hot teas with or without milk and custom teas. My husband isn't a tea drinker, but because Alex offered a sample he tried the Pom Blush which is a blueberry, pomegranate and green tea. Alex made the experience a foodie fan's dream. He made me feel welcome, inducted me into the poke bar and got my husband to try a flavored iced tea which is a big deal. The topper was they had the fresh baked goods of the flour and tea bakery. Green tea mochi, Nutella mochi, taro mochi etc. To the owner of this Poke & Mix by Flour and Tea, Alex believes in the product and excellent customer service. Very excited with this new establishment. Great concept. I love the idea of seafood salads. I usually get a Poke Bowl with 2 servings of mixed greens and 2 servings of the shrimp. I was having major cravings for poke, so my friend and I decided to come here. I believe the store is pretty new, and the interior is very clean and modern. This was my first time eating here, and the guy behind the counter was so friendly and helpful. I decided on a small bowl with half brown rice half greens, salmon, ahi tuna, seaweed, sesame topping, house poke sauce (recommended by the worker), and spicy mayo--it was just under $10. Delicious! The fish tasted very fresh, and the seaweed was well seasoned. Both sauces complimented the rice and fish well, and overall it was a great meal. I didn't order tea this time around, but I'll probably give it a try next time. Yes, there will most definitely be a next time here. The workers are friendly and go out of their way to make sure guests are satisfied. One thing that sets it apart from the rest is that this place has blue crab!! For $1 extra, you can choose blue crab as one of your fish options. Of course, they have all your usual choices for fish (salmon, tuna, etc.) Prices are about the same as all the other poke places around town. Since this place is owned by Flour + Tea, they have a wide selection of teas and boba drinks. And if you order a poke bowl, you can get a combo with a green or black tea at a discount! I come here once every few weeks for a drink and have had their poke bowls twice. The parking is supposedly in the back on Hudson... but it does not make sense to park there because the entrance is on Lake and the store is in the middle of the block. There are a ::few:: parallel parking spots on the street which you have to pay for. So if you can, just walk over or park in the lot between Lake and Mentor. I would say if you're looking for a meal from the poke, you have to pick the 3 scoop option or more. I have been pleasantly surprised at the freshness and the good flavoring of the ingredients. The drinks tend towards the WAAAAAYYYYY too sweet side, so even if you ask for half sweet, it's usually too sweet for me. There are a lot of options and the hot drinks are fresh-brewed, so that's good. Even though they have a stamp system, your 'free' drink is extremely limited. I've been here a few times and I've really come to love PokeMix as a fun and healthy lunch spot for a quick bite. I've tried Flour+Tea's original location on Cordova/Arroyo, but it's never my first choice due to the awkward location for me. I've so happy this location opened a few blocks from where I live. Poke bowl: you can pick from small - med - large. I've only ever had the small, which is two scoops of fish (8.75, I think is the price, they increased it from $7.50). Rice (white/brown), greens, or half/half for your base, and then some nice toppings - avocado is an additional $1, but they give so much! I've never had a problem with portion size here, and they've always been extremely generous with their fish and toppings (I can never finish it). I would say the fish is very tasty and fresh. Tea - They also serve their speciality teas here, which is a fun addition to your poke bowl. I enjoy trying their specials for the day, or the samples they have. The staff is more than happy to adjust flavors, like sugar. The space is super cute with plenty of seating. The staff is tremendously nice and they're very willing to help you and answer any questions. I walk here, but I can imagine parking being frustrating along Lake, but there's a pay lot behind Soul Cycle/Green Street Cafe/Secco area (not sure about validation).
