This is one of my favorite poke spots near me and one that I find myself coming back to over and over again. The service is always great, the fish is fresh, and there are so many customization options that it's hard to get bored of what you're ordering. One thing I didn't realize until this visit was that they have a pretty solid happy hour from 3 PM to 6 PM. Appetizers are 50% off and they also have drink specials. Since it was happy hour, I also tried the gyoza and mac salad. The gyoza was pretty standard, likely straight from frozen to the fryer, but still tasty and served with a soy-based dipping sauce. The mac salad was a little more mixed for me. I actually loved the addition of potatoes because it almost felt like a cross between macaroni salad and potato salad. There were also green onions and carrots mixed throughout, which added some nice texture. My only complaint is that it felt underseasoned and needed a little acidity to balance out the mayo-heavy flavor. I ordered a medium poke bowl with two scoops of salmon and one scoop of octopus over sushi rice. I added crab mix, seaweed salad, edamame, onions, corn, furikake, nori, cilantro, and spicy mayo. Yes, the crab mix costs extra, which is tragic, but it's worth it every time. The portions here are huge. They absolutely load up the bowl and I felt like every bite was packed with fish. For around $20 after tax, I think it's a great value considering the amount of fresh fish you're getting. The onions added a nice brightness, the spicy mayo gave it just enough kick without overwhelming everything, and I love that they offer sauces on the side. If you're a poke lover and haven't tried Poké Chop yet, it's definitely worth a visit.
Great variety especially if you don't want just poke bowls. But today, for our first visit at Poké Chop, we tried their build your own poke bowls. We don't like a lot of sauce so we were glad there were so many other options. I especially enjoyed the sprouts and radish toppings as I haven't seen those at other poke shops. The service was great and the employees were patient as I asked about the different ingredients to add to my bowl. Indoor seating is very clean and we enjoyed watching sports on their tvs. It was nicely air conditioned as well. Thank you for a great experience. We'll be back for sure!
I've had many poke bowls this place stood out!! Maybe because I selected 3 sauces but every bite down to the rice and salad had sauce and flavor on them. I'm impressed they pickle their cucumbers that was a pleasant surprise and they gave generous fish scoops!!! Very very satisfied and will be back!
Poke Chop is a chain. More like Party Chop! There's happy hour from 3-6pm, beer on tap, bottles and cans. They also have a signature menu and hot foods like chicken katsu. We got poke nachos with 3 protein and piled on the sides, sauces and toppings on crispy wonton chips. It was massive. The parking lot is small but I feel like people come and go quickly with boba next door and Little Caesar. As well as the dentist place.
Oh my gosh! The best! It's so fresh and it just hit the spot! Starting with a small bowl for $15.50, and Medium bowl for $17.50! We got a large bowl for $20.50 ( you pick a choice of 5 different protein options ) plus $2 extra for the yellowtail and a side of wasabi! That is so good! It's very good value for how much food they gave you. Me and my son, shared a large bowl and still have about half left. They also have free water with oranges ( self-service ) and they are very nice. Lots of seating areas. Clean and service was fast!

They were happy to help answer them all and even give their go to menu items. Parking is good, and the inside was nice and clean with some tvs in the seating area if you wanted to watch while eating as well. Pretty quiet little place to have a great bowl of poke. There's also a lot of other things on the menu like hot foods from the kitchen. Definitely recommend checking this place out at least once. Price wasn't too bad.

This location is far removed from tourist spots, and had parking in the rear. Overall, the service and the quality of the ingredients are very good, and the team offers generous portions -- like the other two locations. There is no outdoor seating, and there are only a few table insides. I am not certain if there are times when this place gets very busy, but it appears that most people do not dine in. Takeout is very popular here. There is no entrance from the main road -- only the back. And I am not fond of this: they have the music on very loud. Piercing. There are a couple of TV sets generaly set to sports, but with the volume down. Not much by way of ambiance, but you can guarantee great service, excellent food, generous portions and a happy belly.
Despite the fact that it's December, SD is hot as ever. Maybe that is why I wanted some quick and refreshing takeout, and why I decided to try Poke Chop. The store has parking around the back, which is also where the entrance is. I came for weekday lunch and I was the only person in the shop. There was a bit of a fishy odor, which was a harbinger of things to come. I did love the cute fish decor hanging on the ceiling though. Service was friendly and quick. I got a small bowl, and man have poke prices gone up since I was in college. A small now costs as much as a large used to, but that's standard at all spots these days. I got a half brown rice half lettuce bowl with one scoop salmon and one scoop tuna. As other reviews mentioned, they were generous with the fish. I also appreciated how they spread both the rice and salad out in even layers since I am a serial mixer and it's just easier to get everything evenly mixed if I am not fighting with a tangle of greens in the corner of my bowl. I got all the free sides and toppings, and opted for spicy mayo, citrus ponzu, and mango habanero as my sauces. The bowl was BIG when she gave it to me. I also saw that their calamari was $7 and could not resist ordering it. There was a brief wait as it was fried fresh, but soon enough I was high-tailing it home. To give you a sense of the heft of my bowl, my bag alone in the passenger seat did not set off seatbelt warnings, but my bag + the poke was alerting me periodically to buckle up! Once I got home, I immediately tried some of the calamari, which was still hot and crispy. They were well-fried but almost too soft and a bit fishy. They definitely needed the spicy mayo dipping sauce. The poke overall was a standard bowl. I am not sure if it was the fish or the sauces I chose, as this was my first time trying a mango habanero sauce, but something tasted a tad off in my bowl. The poke was fishy as well, to be clear. There was also a bunch of liquid in the bottom of my bowl and the lettuce was a bit limp and spotty. I did not get sick at all after eating my food, but I would be lying if the thought did not cross my mind. Also of note: a day after I drove home with my Poke Chop takeout, I noticed a very fishy odor in my car the next morning, and actually searched to make sure that my food hadn't leaked, and that there wasn't a stray calamari rolling around in my car. The value was better than most poke spots these days but I don't think things weren't the freshest. I may try some of their other locations, maybe this one was a fluke, but I don't think I would return to this one again.
I ordered the chicken katsu, and unfortunately the chicken was really disappointing. Most of the pieces were so tough that I couldn't even eat them. There were a lot of chewy, gristly pieces, and some were so tough they were difficult to bite through. I ended up leaving the majority of the chicken on my plate. The sides, however, were really good and were the best part of the meal. I just wish the quality of the chicken had matched the sides, because it could have been a much better experience.
Wow this place is amazing! As are the prices! My husband and I split a poke nachos and it filled us up for only $20! We got 3 different types of protein which made it even more amazing! The employees were all so nice and welcoming! It was very clean inside with a lot of seating available! I will definitely come back!
Poke Chop is a simple make-your-own bowl with lots of options. The service is fast and they make your bowl with efficiency. The fish itself was good, and I like the variety of toppings. It is a small shop, and it's simple standard poke. Good go-to spot!
Hadn't visited Poke Chop in a while. I was happy to be back to experience their poke bowls. The service was great! The portions are very generous and a medium is truly a large. All of the food and veggies were fresh which is a must at a poke bowl shop. The good: -Various seafood options: poke, marinated poke, shrimp, octopus, tuna, salmon, scallops spicy tuna, seared tuna -Seaweed and cucumber salad included at no extra charge -All crispy toppings available: crunchy onion, garlic, furikake, nori -Various sauces and mixes available The bad: -Only complain is their limited selection of non sugary drinks The shop was clean and the staff was actively making sure to clean tables as customer left. Definitely adding this location to the rotation

I heard so much about the poke nachos, and they did not disappoint! The service was great, there was no line when I visited, and the staff were super friendly. The ambiance was nice, too! I highly recommend trying the poke nachos! Pro tip: Get the sauce on the side so the wonton chips stay nice and crunchy! read more

Mid-week I picked up lunch for my partner and I because we were craving fish. My partner was trying to find their specialty bowl online, yet he could not find the menu. The ingredients for the bowls are in a bar area behind a glass. On the wall are the bowl sizes, prices, and steps to making your own bowl. There are menus with specialty bowls and hot food entrees as well. Step 1: Base (sushi rice, brown rice, salad). I ordered the sushi rice. Step 2: Sides. I ordered the shisho corn, edamame, seaweed salad, and cucumber salad. Avocado and crab meat is a dollar extra. Step 3: Fish (many options). I ordered the salmon, seared tuna, and seared albacore. Step 4: Sauces (many options). I selected the citrus ponzu, spicy mayo, and garlic pepper aioli. Step 5: Topping (many options). I selected the majority of the options. When ordering I felt a little overwhelmed with the steps and making two bowls. The staff member was friendly and patient. What I was not aware of is that the sauces are mixed with the seared fish. I thought it would be a topping. Because it was take-out I did not dine inside, yet the establishment looked like it could seat a medium size amount of diners. When I returned home my partner really enjoyed his bowl. I enjoyed aspects of my bowl yet not everything. When I returned I will not order the edamame. It was too hard for me. I will not order the seared fish. Personally, it was not my favorite fish flavor. I most likely will half sushi rice and salad, or, just brown rice. The sushi rice was too sweet for me. Also, I would pass on the citrus ponzu sauce. I think it made my bowl too sweet. I think with different variations I will like my bowl more. The bowls cost a little more than other poke establishments; however, the portion sizes are well so it makes it worth the cost. I look forward to trying this restaurant again. read more

Kitchen menu plates come with quite a good amount for the price. I went for the salmon plate rather than a small poke since they were the same price, but the poke charges $1 extra for crab meat and avocado, which is usually free at other poke places. I spent $16.70, tax included. Along with the salmon and rice, the plate has a green salad, mac salad, egg roll, and gyoza. My sister also enjoyed her $10 beef curry and the side of chicken katsu ($4.50 add-on). Staff was friendly, and our to-go order was brought to where we were sitting. read more

So glad that Poke Chop is near me! I've gone to their other locations in PB and Hillcrest so I'm glad they opened their 3rd location! I like Poke Chop as they remain consistent with their poke bowls and I like the variety of proteins the best! Their generous portions and add ons make their poke bowls totally worth it imo. Usually I eat more authentic poke, but if I'm craving something with more texture and toppings I go for Poke Chop! I had a poke bowl with yellowtail, salmon, and tuna. I went with their sweet sesame sauce and over brown rice. Everything combined with the sauce was fulfilling and tasty. You can also find cooked entree items if you're not feeling seafood! Excited to try this location out. Plenty of parking in the back which is where the entrance is also. Since it's fairly new, everything is so nice! The workers were also so friendly. I saw my fellow Yelp friend Jack post a meal and it looked delicious so I ordered what he ordered: beef curry plate with added chicken katsu. Ordered to go and when I got home they packaged the food beautifully. There was plenty of rice and the meal looked very filling and could be two meals for me. However, my entire meal was sadly quite bland. EVERYTHING. Not sure if it was just today that the food was bland. First off, the bowl. I was excited it came with an eggroll and dumpling. They were both crispy when I got home but both bland! The inside of the dumpling somehow was mushy and the eggroll was so plain. I think it had one thing of cabbage?? Sad I wasted my calories on them. As for the rice, it was the best texture and had some furikake on it so a nice touch. There seemed to be a decent amount of rice and curry but even the curry was bland. I appreciate having it somewhat wet in sauce but it was lacking flavor (saved it for my bf to try later he also said it was bland). As for the Katsu, so sad that it was nice and crispy but also bland. I had given my mom some and she said the same. Also when my bf ate it later he agreed too. I don't usually get katsu so not sure if that's how it should be? But they provide the katsu sauce which made it taste better, so maybe that's why?? Overall, I couldn't eat much of it and just saved it for my boyfriend. I will be back to try the poke since they prob specialize in that. And will update my review whenever I'm back. read more
It's nice to learn of a small family business like the Poke Chop expanding to new heights with this new location in Grantville, San Diego. I decided to steer away from the poke this time and get something from the kitchen. I ordered the fried calamari and the beef curry with added chicken katsu. On yes, I asked if they could use the brown sushi grade rice in the beef curry, and they happily obliged. The fried calamari was good. It all calamari rings and has no tentacles. It was nicely breaded, and the calamari rings inside were tender. The rings were large and came with mildly spicy sauce. I would recommend that they drain the oil a little longer before they plate the calamari. The beef curry had very good flavor, but I did with it came with more of that tasty curry. I like my rice swimming the sauce. At any rate, it came with tender small pieces of beef, carrots, and potatoes topped with a garnish of sesame seeds and scallions. Both the potatoes and carrots were tender and tasty. I liked that the chicken katsu came with a crispy breading and tender chicken on the inside. The service was super chill and friendly. The place was super clean and offered a trendy appeal. Only inside seating is available. There's parking in the back. read more
Grand opening!! My husband and I stopped by for the grand opening and had a great time!! This location is so nice and they have a parking lot on the backside of the restaurant. They have a few tables inside or you can take your poke bowl to go, either is really convenient. I love how fresh the seafood and produce are! Adding cucumber or seaweed salad to my bowl is the move and I love how fresh it is at Poke Chop. The staff is super friendly and helpful. And the bowls are big! They definitely give you your moneys worth. read more
My experience will differ from other reviewers. We came on grand opening day. They were running a special where you buy one poke bowl at regular price, get the second poke bowl 50% off. It also came with a free can drink, spring roll, and gyoza per order. Great! Started creating our bowls and noticed flies swarming around the ingredients. That should've prompted us not to proceed but whatever. The station is right next to the door, so it happens, right? It's out of their control. Anyways, the portion size was generous but our sauce options weren't great. It wasn't to our liking. Also, some of the protein options were too fishy. Maybe next time, we'll try other items off of their menu instead. read more
This was my first time trying any poke chop and.....it blew my mind on how good it was! It's just as comparable to the 8th n poke in national city! Except poke chop has a lot more selection on sauce and additional toppings. A+ for sushi rice! It makes the poke taste so much better! This location just opened two weeks ago. It's right next to the mochi shop that just opened too. There is parking right behind so you don't have to find street parking. I went here last week and created my own bowl. They packed the bowl up for a small. You get 2 choices of fish, sides and toppings. I mixed 4 different sauces together. My favorite is the Jalapeño wasabi and garlic pepper aioli. I got the seared tuna and the marinade tuna after hearing one of the other customer purchase that for the 2nd time and saying how good it was. She def was not wrong about it, it tasted delicious! The marinade tuna was so good I got it again my 2nd time! So totally recommend if you like flavors that are fresh, savory and include the aroma of onions! They have other hot dishes to try as well such as the garlic shrimp, hamachi, katsu and signature poke bowls if you are unsure of what you want in your own creative bowl. The sides are drinks that you can select to go with your meals. From soda, juices and coco water. read more

Everything was fresh and delicious. They were very generous with their portions. My child really enjoyed the lava-lime sauce with her proteins. First time trying this place, and LET ME TELL YOU about the friendly staff! The girl who took my order was so patient and kind! She was not stingy w the portions which I really appreciated it! I hope they continue with their servings as I thought it was the best part! They also offer hot from from their kitchen which looks delicious and appropriately priced! I really hope more people support this business so they can become a staple to this area. The store was so clean, offering a plethora of drinks from alcoholic ones to "healthy" sodas! read more
Been to a few locations a while ago but first time here! Its in a pretty new plaza, well maintained and decent parking. Its pretty similar to most poke places, you can choose between 2-5 scoops of fish. IMO they are pretty generous with it! I've been to many poke places but this is the only one i've gotten full from LOL. They are generous with the toppings and side options. I was really happy they have corn lol. Prices are pretty standard. Poke in general has been going up in price but I wouldnt say this place is super cheap. Overall I enjoyed it! I would come back again read more
