    A great breakfast
    Dan P.

Recently stayed at the Westin and dined at the Bronze Bird twice, once for lunch and once for breakfast. Had the spicy chicken sandwich for lunch. It was very good. Served piping hot with a nice crispiness. The cabbage slaw on the sandwich was excellent, and i ordered extra as a side dish. The small included micro, diced pickles to give it an interesting edge. Breakfast buffet was one of the best quality Westin/Marriott breakfast buffets. Eggs were very good, bacon was fantastic, fruit was very fresh and in good condition. Service: good service, especially for breakfast when I was running late to get a flight Overall, the bronze bird went up in my book compared to my last visit.

This is located within the Western gaslamp hotel. It was quiet when we arrived. It took about two minutes and we were sat at a table. Server: Ricardo was our server and he is fantastic! Friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. Food: we were not that hungry, got the spicy chicken salad and asked them to cut it in half. Got an extra side of slaw. I did not realize it came with fries. The chicken sandwich was temperature hot with some spice and crunch with the slaw. Getting extra slaw on the side was nice. The French fries were hot, crunchy, and lots of flavors and textures. A solid delicious chicken sandwich. And great service with Ricardo!

LOVE THIS SPOT. Food Service We stopped in for a drink and a snack last night. I got the chipotle lobster roll with pico and fries, very unique flavors. It was fresh and delicious and served on a Texas toast, I loved it!!! My husband got a chocolate lava dessert, he said it was the best treat to end the night with the sweet berries on the side. I had a Paloma which was so tasty & made very well. Juan was our server, super friendly & attentive. He was fantastic !! He sat us at a nice quiet table. The restaurant had an open layout & was very clean.

(Dined 08/29/25 FR @ 6:30pm): I saw neither any bronze or birds at this place! After a long afternoon touring investment properties with my realtor, we kept things easy and ended the day at Bronze Bird for a casual meal. We were staying overnight at The Westin San Diego Gaslamp Quarter where the restaurant was located, so the convenience was a major factor. Personally, I always liked to try in-hotel restaurants, and this one looked very inviting. Could this eatery be more than a bronze in our books, or would we end up giving it the bird!? Everything came out at a relaxed pace, the manager even stopped by to chat for a bit, gave me a brewery glass mug, and the entire evening went really well. OVERALL Bronze Bird turned out to be the perfect way to end a busy day and a good night's sleep. As expected, the prices were elevated for a higher-end hotel, but they weren't crazy. All of the food was incredible, but please offer a bigger portion for the fish and chips. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $87.00 BEFORE any discounts, points usage, and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

Staying at the hotel, this is where they serve breakfast. They give you the option of the breakfast buffet or order off the menu, à la cart. We opted for the buffet. I think the breakfast would be a better deal if you want to eat a full breakfast. If you just want a little bite, then order from the menu. Also, ordering an omelette with the server is included in the buffet; four ingredients. The buffet food was ok. They have a little of everything. I did order an omelette, that was ok. I thought it was a little over cooked, but it was edible. Overall, the food is mediocre. I would eat here when I'm staying at the hotel.

What a cute and nice lunch spot if you're working downtown or even just here for jury duty. Got lucky & came here on a Tuesday- turns out they have daily lunch specials & today was the Short Rib Tacos. For only $11, you get a trio of savory, hearty tacos with a touch of queso, crisp purple cabbage, & pickled onions. Normally I would pair it with a tequila or martini, but since I still had other duties the remainder of the day, I opted out :) I heard from the waiter Ernie that Mondays/ Fridays are popular due to the burger lunch special. Good to know if that is what you're craving and are in the area. Ernie also mentioned that if you eat here before a show at the Civic Center, they will give you 20% off! Helpful tip in light of inflation & downtown costs... Appreciate Ernie's kindness! Service is friendly - this hotel has been around for decades so nice to see it operating and having people flow in and out for business /work. Interior can be a little dark so I opted for seating near the windows/patio. Once the weather is warmer it would be a nice spot for evening drinks, happy hour. Cheers

Beetlejuice pre fixe menu. The soup was uniquely delicious

We were going to the Civic Theater for a show but we needed to find a place to have dinner first. We decided on this place because the menu looked good, reviews were largely positive, and was nice and secure in a hotel. I was delighted to hear about the Beetlejuice themed pre fixe option. After looking it over I decided to give it a try. My partner ordered a mixed drink and his entree. After about 10 minutes of lively conversation we realized we have not been served a single beverage let alone the soup that came with my meal. I was starting to lose hope in the wait staff so we flagged down the nearest employee who happened to be James the manager. After we explained the situation he largely took care of us personally and couldn't be more delighted with his commitment to our dining experience. I can't thank him enough for the experience. And the food was exquisite and so unique. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of the food but I gave one of the special menu.

My friend picked this place because it was close to the civic theater and we were going to see Beetlejuice the musical. I was happy to see they had a Beetlejuice themed cocktail and food menu. We got the Beetlejuice cocktail, Brussels sprouts, the Nosh, the bronzed bird, and the lobster roll. Everything was soooo good! Service was great. I gave my gave my friend props on the choice and we will definitely come back again

I love San Diego Restaurant Week & I had to start it off with one of my favorite gems, Bronze Bird. I've been here two years ago and the food amazing for the price point. Ambiance has a modern feel, which blends well with the hotel decor. What I had: Dry Bird - This mocktail has ginger beer and is a nice non alcoholic alternative to add to your meal. This was sweeter than expected and would have preferred a less sweeter drink. Smoked Potato Leek Soup - Warm, comforting and creamy. I liked that it had a taste of bacon in it. Chicken Jidori Scallopini - Perfectly seared and juicy pieces of chicken paired with mushrooms and greens. I had some leftover so I'll be having it again for lunch! Pan Seared Chinook Salmon - This is a fatty salmon but still flaky and light. The salmon isn't pink but the waiter explained that due to the fat content, it's a white color. Kiwi Mille Feuille - This is a flaky dessert with cream in between. It was nicely sweet and you can either pick it up and eat like a taco or use a fork and knife. Valet parking is free with validation and it's 10 dollars afterwards. Definitely will come back again!

    Menu small but great variety

I couldn't find any place selling wine and this one came up as a wine bank. It didn't have great reviews, so I wasn't expecting much. But it was the only one available so I decided to give it a go. I didn't see much of a selection at - first local wines on the main floor, but when I got two bottles of local wine, the owner told me that they had a basement full of wine from around the world. I went down there and oh boy they have the largest selection of wine from around the world that I have seen in a long, long time. The place has a wide range of wines from $15.99 onto under $100 from what I saw, there is a little cave that had a more curated selection. I did not go in because I didn't want to spend more than $20. But I was actually very surprised by the nice selection of wines that they had from Napa, Sonoma, Chile, Argentina. Italy, France and Germany. I got some Argentinian and some Spanish wine varietals, and they were pretty good. The prices were decent for being in the middle of the gaslamp district and they were friendly. They were very friendly and helpful. There was another gentleman down in the basement and I told him that I was from the Napa Valley region, so I didn't want anything from the Napa Valley and I asked him about the San Diego County Wine. He said not to even bother with those so I stuck with what I Know and usually go for and I was pleasantly surprised and give it a five star. if you're in the area and you need some wine, they have some great wines. The prices are reasonable and happy employees willing to help you if you have any questions. The ambience is quiet nothing to write home about, but I loved how the basement feels like a wine cellar or wine library. I t is very very well put together. Definitely recommend.

The grocery section is decent and shines for me. They have fresh produce, awesome bread selection, tons of pasta varieties, and pre-made salad and snacks. Great excuse not to cook and if you're on the go. As a vegan shopper, this market does not discriminate. They actually have a great selection of vegan-friendly items: accidental vegan snacks, dips, organic options, dairy-free milks, and plant-based goodies tucked throughout the store. I even spotted gluten-free and vegan treats (even chocolate lovers won't be disappointed). If you're plant-based, you won't feel left out here.
