Having a newborn means date nights now consist of changing diapers, surviving on little sleep, and pretending that ordering takeout counts as going out. LOL We were craving some good sushi, but leaving the house with a newborn felt like planning a military operation, so Jump Tokyo came to the rescue! Ordered the 16-piece sashimi and some toro, and I gotta say, they did not disappoint! Portions were generous, everything tasted fresh, and the packaging was on point. Nothing looked like it had survived a car accident on the way home. For takeout sushi, this was actually pretty solid! But I already know sushi hits different when you're sitting at the restaurant eating it fresh. Definitely coming back to dine in next time. Hopefully by then we've figured out how to leave the house again. Hahaha read more

I came for sushi. I left emotionally attached to the wasabi. The gyoza was steamed to perfection, tender, flavorful, and disappeared from the plate suspiciously fast. The sushi? Fresh, delicious, beautifully prepared, and absolutely hit the spot. Then came the FRESH wasabi. WAHHHHHH. That little green scoop chose violence. My sinuses have been cleared, my ancestors have been contacted, and I may have briefly seen into the future. Seriously though, Jump Tokyo Sushi was a great find in Grantville. Fresh food, great flavors, and the kind of meal that makes you start planning what you're ordering next time before you've even left. Definitely coming back. Oof. I love sushi - could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. New to this neighborhood so we came here for dinner. Tried a seasonal mango roll - in the photo, the mango looked sliced, juicy and colorful. In reality, the mango was chunked, colorless and dry. Also tried the crunchy spicy tuna roll and salmon skin roll which is one I try at every sushi spot and judge a spot by (so far, Konichiwa in La Mesa has the best!!) - the salmon skin roll was flat with zero crunch. The crunchy tuna roll was just not good. Both were doused in sauce which I really don't like. We also ordered a shrimp popper appetizer which was the last thing that came out as we were finishing our meal - and it was covered in sauce. I had ordered a drink that never arrived but we had gotten charged for it. I don't think we'll return. read more

I think I found my new sushi restaurant. Perfect for big families because their prices are great ! We went last week and we got a lot of their March specials! You have to get the Jalepeno bombs to start things off ! My favorite sushi roll was their power roll ! Must try! Part of their march special was the 3 hand rolls for $19 !! My friend got their bulgogi platter and it was loaded. He loved it. My other friend got the chicken katsu curry and loved it. Before you leave make sure to stop by the ice cream fridge !!! I was pleasantly surprised with our visit. We ordered both salmon and yellowtail kama, deep fried avocado, 15 piece sashimi plate and the red dragon roll. I loved the yellowtail kama it was perfectly cooked! I didnt like the salmon kama, it was too fatty. The deep fried avocado was okay would have been nice if it was stuffed with crab or tuna. The roll was okay but the rice was a tad hard. The sashimi plate was an exceptional deal and while it wasnt the prettiest looking fish, it was surprisingly tasty and fresh. read more

Restaurant is located in a good plaza with plenty of parking! Service was wonderful and Sarah (co-owner) was lovely to talk to regarding recommendations. The food was delicious, Sarah Roll had a spicy kick with good texture and the Cucumber Candy roll was a refreshing, all protein roll! Deeply Disappointed After More Than 10 Years as Loyal Customers My family and I have been coming to Jump Tokyo Sushi for more than ten years, and until tonight, we had always enjoyed both the food and the service. Unfortunately, this evening's experience was unlike anything we have ever encountered. We arrived at approximately 8:20 p.m. As soon as we were seated, we were informed that last call would be at 8:45 p.m., so we placed our order immediately out of respect for the restaurant's closing procedures. Our food arrived around 8:35 to 8:40 p.m. We had barely started eating when a woman brought us the check along with the payment terminal. We assumed this was simply part of the restaurant's closing routine. A few minutes later, she returned asking why we had not paid yet. We politely explained that we had just begun eating. She came back a third time asking whether we were finished and if she could clear our plates, even though we were clearly still eating. I calmly explained that I understand the restaurant business and fully respect the importance of closing on time. Her response was simply, "I don't care." I also told her that we had been loyal customers for more than a decade and had never experienced anything like this. Instead of listening to our concerns, she raised her voice, became sarcastic and confrontational, and stated that she was the owner. During this interaction, she took a photograph of me without asking for my permission or offering any explanation. I did not object because I knew I had done nothing inappropriate or disrespectful toward the restaurant or its staff. However, having my picture taken without any explanation made me feel extremely uncomfortable and came across as intimidating. What made this situation even more upsetting was that I was dining with my 82-year-old mother, who has limited mobility and medical conditions that require her to eat slowly to avoid choking and breathing difficulties. Repeatedly pressuring us to finish our meal under those circumstances demonstrated a complete lack of empathy. It was also evident that the other employees felt uncomfortable with the situation. From behind the sushi bar, they apologized to us for what had happened. The only person who never showed any empathy or offered an apology was the woman who identified herself as the owner. We completely understand and respect restaurant closing hours. However, there is a significant difference between informing customers that the restaurant is closing and repeatedly pressuring them to pay, attempting to remove their plates while they are still eating, and raising your voice when they respectfully express their concern. The quality of the food has always been one of the reasons we continued coming back for so many years. Sadly, the way we were treated tonight completely overshadowed the meal. I sincerely hope the management reflects on what happened. Respect, professionalism, and empathy are just as important as the food being served. No customer, especially an elderly guest with medical limitations, should ever be made to feel rushed, humiliated, or intimidated while simply trying to enjoy a meal they have paid for. read more

Boyfriend and I last minute decided to grab sushi for dinner and had this place booked marked so glad to finally try it! Came here on Saturday evening around 7pm. It's next to a brewing company and there was football game so the lot was pretty busy. Not sure how the parking is otherwise. It has a decent sized lot though. Been looking for a place with decent priced quality sushi and think I found it! We got seated right away and food came out pretty quick. Ambience was lively with kpop in the background. We go to this place with my family all the time and they remember my sister and her husband and kiddos, and are so friendly to families. I went tonight with just my bf and I and they made their freshest best rolls we've ever had. We always get the Long Island roll 10/10 and just added the Oishi roll tonight which will be the new order moving forward 10/10 too, plus the salmon belly and blue fin tuna nigiri was so insanely fresh and good. We also had some gyoza too that did not disappoint with a tasty dip. The hot saki is delicious and most of this had a happy hour discount M-W 3-Close. We just had a fabulous time with the friendliest staff and just a truly lovely, warm and welcoming atmosphere. Can't recommend them enough!!! read more

Down at SDSU on move in day and after the move in we wanted something fresh and light that would not put us to sleep on our 2 hour ride home. We found this place with a basic search...glad this popped up. Walked in to this low key location, greeted right away and seated. There were quite a few people here already, but a couple open tables. Server was attentive, gave suggestions. We chose 4 different rolls, nothing basic, large sashimi plate, even some chicken and rice. We all had drinks, they brought us appetizers. The server continues to check on us verified our food was good, drinks were filled, etc. Spent about 45 minutes here... Time for the bill...for 4 of us...barely at $100!
