I stopped in for a late lunch during a trip to SD. It was a weekday around 4pm and the place was still busy! There was only 1 worker so bowl preparation obviously took some time and though I don't blame the individual for this, I think staffing could be better. There's a small amount of indoor seating and the small plaza parking lot is very cramped, that said, I was lucky enough to grab a parking spot AND a table. Poke Bowl 5/5, perfect, chefs kiss, I devoured this entire thing, ingredients were fresh and lovely Omusubi 1/5, okay so I ordered two of these two go to eat for dinner later and wow, this was a sad miss :( extremely minimal tuna filling and excess rice that somehow solidified to get super hard on me so it felt like I was biting a brick? Skip ordering this, and stick to the poke bowl! read more

I have been here a few times and every single time, the food is always amazing. I love being able to customize my own bowls and I especially love that they have so many options that you could add for both toppings and protein choice. I always get a large because I can never make up my mind on what proteins to get, so why not have 4 kinds in my bowl lol. When getting toppings, some do come at an additional cost, so make sure you look to see which ones do cost extra and which ones do not. In addition to the food being delicious whenever I visit, the staff are always really nice and helpful. I am so disappointed in this location's customer service. I originally found blue pokey in national city and was so excited when I found that they had a location in North Park. I went very often in December. This location was giving out envelopes for you to come back in January to get a free item. It did not say anything about having to purchase something in order to get this free item when I went in happily in January, my free item wasn't Miso soup. As one of the employees was busy getting me my free item. Another one came forward and said no you have to purchase something first. Keep in mind. The soup was already made by the other employee. I then asked this employee where does it say you have to purchase something in order to get your free item? He could not answer that. It is truly sad that they are losing a loyal customer over a bowl of soup and BAD customer service. read more

There's no shortage of poke shops in San Diego and Blue Poke has now entered the scene! Blue Poke offers "chipotle style" poke- a build your bowl method. The first time I went, I had a very solid bowl, but the second time, the quality wavered a little and they were out of a few items. Regardless, the bowls here seem to be pretty solid and I like the large variety of toppings to choose from. Don't be turned away from coming here because of parking. It's pretty easy in this area because there's a lot right in front and if it's full, you can usually find a spot nearby! read more

The fish here is so fresh! And they have so many different options of what you can order. They have a very big menu- including sushi burritos :)) I've eaten here too many times. My stomach is telling me to stop lololool that's how you know it's goooodddd. Service is always great, I never feel rushed. This particular location is on the smaller, more quiet side. Not too big of a seating area. Parking can be quite sparse, but totally worth the wait if you have to. I highly recommend this poke place!! In my top 3 for sure read more

I don't like how when I pick up my mobile order, it's not stored in the fridge. It's happened the last 3 times I've gone. There's a fridge that is labeled as pick up orders but it doesn't seem to get utilized. Ther app is a little janky. I don't think it has ever applied the rewards when I try to use them. (Select the reward and click the "order now" button - seems simple but never works.) I've not gotten sick so I'll keep going BUT I prefer my sushi to be kept cold as long as possible. Great poke spot in the area! Whenever I come in, the customer service is great and the quality of the food is great too! There's limited seating here, and they offer to-go options. Service can be slower since they take online orders, but it's worth the wait. All of the ingredients are really fresh, from their rice to their proteins and all of their toppings and sauces. I usually get a medium bowl that comes with three proteins. I recommend giving their crispy wonton chips a try to make a sort of poke nacho! They offer staple poke proteins like ahi tuna, salmon, shrimp etc., have cooked options (chicken and grilled salmon), and some plant based options too (plant-based tuna and tofu). They load your bowls up on add ons which is appreciated, though their krab salad is an additional cost. I've had a few of their sauces and always get the fire blue poke and sriracha mayo for a little kick. Blue Poke is for sure a spot worth trying! I'll be back again soon! read more

I got the three protein bowl with two helpings of Ahi and one serving of spicy tuna. The fish was incredibly fresh, and the spicy tuna had just the right amount of spice. I mistakenly selected mixed greens instead of rice, which was a bit disappointing, but that's on me. Despite that, it still tasted great. I added edamame, cucumbers, carrots, avocado, and their hot Blue Poke sauce. I couldn't have asked for a better poke bowl - well, except for having rice, but again, that was my mistake. There was a service window in the back of the room where a tablet was set up to order and pay for your food. On the evening of my visit, the place was quite crowded and noisy. A bartender informed me about the window so I walked over there and looked at a menu posted on the wall. A smashburger and a katsu sandwich were the largest items. The other offerings ranged from wings, loaded fries, skewers, and assorted small bites. I selected two of the skewers (meatball, pork belly) and the 86' Smash for my takeout order. A numbered buzzer was provided to match my order number. About 15 minutes later, a plastic bag was handed to me with two separate containers inside, one for the burger and the other for the skewers. The Vietnamese style meatball was ground meat wrapped around a wooden stick with a side of Caesar dressing for dipping. A piece of grilled pork belly was on the other stick. Both were cooked nicely, however the price was high at $4 for the meatball and $4.50 for the pork belly. The 86' Smash consisted of two patties, Monterey jack cheese, miso caramelized onions, house pickles, shishito crema, and crispy rice. I liked the pickles and rice for the texture contrast. The patties weighed less than 8 oz combined so it wasn't a dense burger for $13. As a component of a game room, I understand the concept of using "86" as part of the lingo. I don't know that "discontinued" would be the association I would want to have with a business though as it seems to predict misfortune, but maybe that's just me being superstitious. Based on the price, quality, and amount of food I tried, I gave a rating between three and four stars for my visit to 86'D.
