The salmon was fresh and the toppings were colorful and delicious. You could make your own bowl or choose one of the menu options already created. I was the only customer so I didn't have to wait! The restaurant has outdoor seating and was nice and clean.

My friend invited me to try Hi Poke in Downtown San Diego. I had the Scallop Dynamite, which is baked, and I loved the ingredient options, especially the edamame, seaweed, crab, onions, and more! There are plenty of tables and seating both inside and outside, which is nice. The staff is friendly, and the place itself is pretty good. The only downside is that the bathroom is quite far, you have to walk to the Jail Museum and ask for the code. But on the bright side, it's a great spot to explore! Just a heads-up, parking always comes with a fee (it's downtown, after all, haha).

Pick Your Own Poke Bowl

My family did pick your own poke bowls, so they basically made their own bowls based on the great selection the place had. I was impressed by the sauce options, especially since I love spicy food. The prices were average and the place was not too big inside but had a cute ambiance with a few tables. There were tables outside so you could get your bowl and eat there. I appreciated that the employee did not serve just a little bit of protein for each scoop since some other poke places I've been to have been stingy with the protein.

Pick Your Own Poke (~$20)

Ordered: Pick Your Own Poke (~$20): brown rice, proteins: salmon, tuna, shrimp, sauces: Hi Poke classic and spicy mayo, toppings: green onions, red onion, cucumber, edamame, crab salad, seaweed salad, ginger, seaweed, masago, crisp: crispy onion and crispy garlic Aya's take: Poke is my go-to when I need a quick and healthy meal. It's located in Seaport Village, not too far from the Convention Center. Hi Poke has all the toppings you would expect and you can tell they use good quality fish. I liked the mix of sauces and the freshness of all the toppings making this a very satisfying bowl. It wasn't busy at all when I got there and there's some eating indoors but plenty of seating outdoors as well. Great spot if you're in the area looking to get your poke fix!

We ordered Togo Poki bowl and walked over to sit next to the ocean view.

A bit quiet in this place, could be low volume business. Got two bowl of tuna Poki, very disappointed as we asked for cilantro. A lady definitely saw that those cilantro in her container already welded, black snd bruised. She still put it in the bowls for us. My daughter was asking me why this cilantro is black. I had to pick through it and throw them out for her. Not recommended and never to back. Always have to maintain freshness for ready to eat food serve to any customer. If you can't maintain consistency. Soon, no one would come to your place.

Salmon lover bowl. Added cucumbers.

Came here for something healthy and because of the ratings. It did not disappoint! Fresh ingredients and made fast. It was delicious!

Not really one to be a Karen on yelp but I got my food to go and when I got home my poke had two dead flies in it. A third small bug was moving around before I even popped the lid open. Needless to say I didn't eat it and I can't get a hold of them to get a refund. Bummed.

See how many pieces of eel you get and how thin they are. Totally not worth the price tag.

Had to get something delivered during a lunch rush at a conference, and Hi Poke had the shortest wait time, so I decided to give it a try. The food came pretty quick, unfortunately that was the only good thing about my experience. First of all, the meal came without utensils. Luckily I was able to ask for utensils from the hotel. Then the food was so overpriced for what it is. I ordered an eel bowl, and it only came with 4 thin pieces of eel. All for almost $20!!!! Definitely don't recommend this place.

For $20+ a bowl you'd expect a little more courtesy. Went here last night only bc it was the closest poke place close to the Rady Shell. The place was not well lit- red flag bc I can't see the freshness of the fish or veggies. I looked first at the cucumbers to see if they were slimy. It was definitely wet and soggy....thinly sliced and it was kept in water ?? I found that to be odd that it was stored in water? That was a first time for me and an automatic red flag so I passed on ordering anything for myself. My daughter was really hungry so she requested for a little more rice and the gal said no it was only the one scoop which was like the size an ice cream scoop. That was another first for us... we've never had an experience where they'll decline a request for a little more rice. It's not like she even offered to charge us more for the rice... Her attitude was not appreciated so we decided to not order the other bowls and left.

Do it yourself Poki bowl $20

Underwhelming. I was attending a research meeting at a nearby hotel and it was raining like crazy in typically sunny San Diego so I needed a nearby place ideally outside the giant hotel I'm stuck in all day. Hi Poki was hidden in the far back corner of a half deserted shopping area ironically surrounding a former historical prison. Tables outside were drenched so I had to eat inside at a table with a red (not clean) cloth tablecloth covering it. Place was empty and I ordered a do it yourself Poki bowl for $20 plus tax ($22). It was underwhelming. Mostly brown rice and some limited greens with three itty bitty scoops of fish. The sauces were a little too sweet for me and since the bowl was kinda small once you added the toppings and crunchy stuff a little hard to mix it up and dive in without spilling it all on that red tablecloth. Not great. At best good. I'd pass.

Build Your Own Bowl. Sushi rice had undercooked grains.

In a cute little plaza. Decently priced. My go-to for a quick sunny San Diego lunch in the area.

You can tell when people actually care about the guest experience, and they absolutely do. Nate deserves a special shoutout for creating a Thai chili ginger soy sauce that genuinely blew my mind. I'm not exaggerating -- the balance of heat, sweetness, and umami was unreal. One of those flavors that makes you pause mid-bite and go, wow. It elevated everything it touched and is still living rent-free in my head. Dominic was equally incredible -- seamless service, great energy, and made the entire experience feel effortless and welcoming. Together, they made what could've been a normal meal into something truly memorable. If you're lucky enough to be taken care of by Dominic and Nate, you're in for an exceptional experience. This is the kind of service (and flavor) that keeps you coming back.

Unfortunately, the service completely ruined the experience. I placed my order online four hours in advance because I have a long drive back home to Julian and just wanted to pick it up and go. When I arrived, there was no greeting from staff, no clear pickup line, and no acknowledgment of customers waiting. The staff seemed to have tunnel vision, only focusing on what was directly in front of them while ignoring everyone else. After standing there for quite a while, I finally had to ask about my order. Instead of it being ready like it should have been, they hadn't even started making it. I ended up waiting over 30 minutes in line for something that was ordered hours earlier. What made it worse was when the mistake became obvious, no one apologized or acknowledged the inconvenience. The staff acted like it was no big deal and showed zero professionalism or accountability. I don't come into the city often, but when I do I like to try new places. Sadly, this experience was disappointing and the customer service was extremely poor. I would honestly say save your time and money and go somewhere that actually values their customers--especially in this economy. Time is money, and money is time. If a restaurant doesn't respect your time, they're definitely not going to respect your money. As for the food, it was very basic and lacked flavor. They were also very stingy with the sauce, which made the bowl even more dry and underwhelming. Overall, between the poor service, long wait despite ordering hours ahead, lack of accountability from staff, and mediocre food, this place was a big disappointment. I will not be coming back. There are plenty of better places that actually value their customers. Thank you and have a nice day.

I enjoyed the big, juicy pieces of shrimp and the mango slaw on top. Would definitely get this one again! We also shared the fish and chips - beer battered cod. I liked how the breading wasn't thick and it remained crispy!! Also, it didn't feel heavy or too oily at all. The fish inside was moist. The coleslaw that came with it was good too and it was a little sweet. I didn't like the tartar sauce that much and honestly didn't feel like the fish needed it because it already had good flavor. Service was great! The person who took our order was very nice. Very casual place! Can't wait to come back and try other items

There was still a significant line, but when we finally got to the front, the waitress taking our order wouldn't even look at us. She spent a good portion of our "turn" chatting with another waitress before finally turning to us--still with zero eye contact. We ordered a cioppino, a clam chowder in a sourdough bowl, fish and chips, and a dozen oysters. I noticed she shouted the soup orders back to the kitchen but didn't say a word about the fish and chips. When I specifically asked her if she got the fish and chips, she said "yes," took my card, and sent us to a table. Our soups and oysters arrived after 15 minutes, but another 30 minutes passed with no sign of the rest of the meal. When I followed up with the same waitress to check on the status, she looked at the order and flatly told me there were no fish and chips on there. By that point, the restaurant was already closing. She asked if I still wanted them, but after waiting that long and dealing with that level of indifference, I just said no. Extremely disappointing experience. If you're going to stay open for customers, you should at least provide basic communication and hospitality. I won't be coming back.

That said, the waitress we had was very kind and attentive, and the food was decent, so we decided to give the place another try. After a long day at Legoland, we returned around 6pm and I had called ahead to make a reservation for four. The person on the phone took my name and number, so I assumed we were all set. When we arrived, the restaurant wasn't even full, but no one greeted us for several minutes. Eventually, a waiter came over, and when I mentioned our reservation, he seemed confused and said they don't take reservations for parties under six. I tried to explain that someone had taken my information over the phone, but he interrupted me multiple times and didn't let me finish. He then walked over to another group behind us and asked if they were there first, even though we had arrived before them, which was frustrating. We were eventually told there was space available at the bar seating (bar stools) instead of a table. At that point, we were tired and hungry, so we accepted. Unfortunately, the service didn't improve. The waiter seemed rushed and disorganized--he couldn't remember our order and had to ask us which dish belonged to who when the food came out. As for the food, it was okay but not memorable. My ramen was just average--the pork was dry and the egg was overcooked. Overall, the food is decent, but the service really needs improvement. This particular waiter clearly needs more training, or possibly a different role, as the level of service did not meet basic expectations for a restaurant. Our second visit left a bad impression, especially since it was our last night in San Diego. Sadly, we won't be coming back.
