Poke Avenue is the best Sushi Bowl place that I have had the pleasure of eating at. My whole staff of 75 people eat there 2-3 times per month. We drive from Newport Beach on the weekends to eat lunch there because their food is so fresh and the owners are passionate about quality. I took a friend of mine their from Monrovia and he loved it so much, he said he will come back this weekend with his family. Covid shutdowns almost took this business down, but the owners didn't quit. Their prices went up slightly but their quality new has failed. read more

I don't how I did it, but, I got my non-raw fish eating wife and daughter to to eat poke. Poki Ave has been the places that satisfies them so far. They are just like all the other Poke places that have popped up with a few minor differences in their offering. Like all other places, you pick your base of white rice, brown rice or salad. Then you have a choice of imitation crab, spicy imitation crab, seaweed, tomatoes, cilantro, edamame, jalapenos, pineapple, and a couple others to add to your bowl. Then you pick your proteins. This is where Poki Ave does better than other places for non-raw fish eating people. They have cooked shrimp and octopus. They also have your regular salmon, tuna, spicy salmon, spicy tuna, and albacore. They have a multitude of sauces that your proteins can be mixed in. I always get their standard soy sauce and sesame oil. Lastly, you pick your toppings of nori, furikake, masago, or one of the many usual toppings that everyone else has. Their regular bowl is pretty good sized. Flavoring is pretty good. Good enough so that I don't have to add extra soy sauce. My wife and daughter like it. The only minor complaint is that they do not provide extra bowls for you to share food. My wife likes to order a large, so that she can share it with the daughter who doesn't much. Their bowl that they gave us is a small cardboard miso bowl. The growing daughter needs a bigger bowl. Service is good. The servers were patient with my wife who has never stood in line at an assembly line poke joint. Complimentary green tea ice cream if you eat there. 4 stars only because this is one of the few places that I can eat Poke with my wife and daughter, otherwise, I would only give them 3 stars. read more

I don't normally go out of my way to write reviews but this is solely on the service that was given to me. First time customer here. Thought it would be nice to get a really healthy meal after the gym. Looked on yelp and this had really great reviews on it. When ordering my meal towards the end I was asked if any addition sauces on top of my poke bowl and I mistakenly said my toppings instead. The lady gave me a straight face and said "any additional sauces on my bowl." . This rubbed me the wrong way bc the person with me also made the same mistake and stated their toppings instead. With no empathy, it came off rude. No bedside manners and just being impolite. Don't know if she was having a bad day but not a good first impression. read more

Poke Ave is a poke place in a strip mall. It's located between Cartridge World and Dog Boutique and Spa. Their smallest size comes in a burrito which consists of white rice, seaweed wrap, and two scoops of your choice of fish. The bowl sizes include regular (three scoops) and large (five scoops). They have 3 bases (white rice, brown rice, salad). You can also combine rice and salad. They have 8 choices of fish including salmon, spicy salmon, tuna, spicy tuna, cooked shrimp, albacore, yellowtail, and octopus. They have 15 toppings including avocado, crab meat, seaweed salad, cucumber, green onions, ginger, tomatoes, pineapple, edamame, jalapeno, cilantro, furikake, nori, wasabi, and masago. There's 9 sauces including ponzu, sesame oil, loco 1, loco 2, loca, spicy mayo, wasabi mayo, lemon creamy, and eel sauce. The food items that I saw here that I haven't seen at other poke places were spicy salmon, spicy crab meat, pineapple, edamame, and tomatoes. I usually get salmon as my choice of fish. The fish scoops are rather small and the fish cuts are also small. The salmon is very fresh. The spicy crab meat is definitely spicy. The regular crab meat is good as it had the right amount of mayo. The ponzu sauce and sesame oil combined is savory. The spicy mayo is creamy. The white rice is slightly cold and chewy which suits the poke perfectly. They use certified compostable boxes as containers for the poke. The downside is that some of the rice bits would stick to the container. There have been some visits where the music was overwhelmingly loud. Whatever acoustics they have in the building caused the music to amplify even more and echo all over the place. As a result, there would be some kind of miscommunication. For example, I said I didn't want onions but it was still added on and for another visit I wanted the spicy mayo mixed in but it ended up being added afterwards. They didn't have any loud-omg-I-can't-hear-anything-else-but-the-music for the previous visits but then again no one else was there. Aside from minor miscommunication, service has been pretty good. For all visits, I was greeted upon entry. All of the servers I've encountered thus far were friendly. The servers usually offer me extra crab meat since I don't really get any other toppings. The restaurant was very well-ventilated. I didn't smell any fish at all in the restaurant. The seating area indoors is a bit small. There's also some tables outside. Overall, pretty good poke. The salmon was fresh, the sauces were flavorful, and the rice texture was great. Will be back for more visits. read more

Another poke place opened up in Brea! They were giving away free 3 scoop poke bowls during their soft opening... How can I say no to free poke bowls...? Got there around 1pm, waited in line for about 40 min. The staff were friendly and welcoming, but didn't really explain much about how to order other than just handing out free food. A banana head like me of course asked all the questions and wasn't very satisfied with the answer I got. 1. Extra scoop of topping is $0.50, so how many toppings come with a regular order? I was told the first round I can order anything everything for no extra charge. I was a little confused because what if on the first round, I want 3 scoops of tomato? Do I get charged for $1 for it? (not to mention, who put tomato on poke anyway... Vomit) 2. Extra scoop of fish is $0.99. Now let's see here, 3 scoop is $8.99, 5 scoop is $11.99. I was told the size of the container doesn't change, the only difference is the amount of the scoops. Tell me my math is bad. 5 scoops = 3 scoop order + 2 extra scoops = 8.99 + 2 = 10.99, which is still cheaper than 11.99 as listed. Curiousty kills cats for sure. Overall, some concerns I have. The order line doesn't have any glass/plastic wall in between the food and the customer, which means, my saliva is now in your food as you read my review. It's OK, I was also having the pretty lady's saliva ahead of me. The scoop also looked mini to me. The fish chunk was cut pretty small already and even with that, I barely saw much fish in my bowl. I couldn't tell you how fresh the fish were, but I had this raw fish taste in my mouth for the remaining afternoon, no water was able to wash it off. Lastly, there was a bone in my fish that decided to poke through my skin inside my mouth as I chewed. I know, small bites for small portion, silly me for not paying attention and totally my fault. I could only hope all this happened because it was during soft opening. Without much poke options in the area, I might go... Ok I lied, as long they don't have that saliva fighting wall set up, I am not going back. Thank you for the free fish, I truly appreciated it. read more

Even though this place has really high ratings, I tried not to have any expectations. Especially since there's poke places here and there. Plus, I've had poke in Hawaii (it's not supposed to be Chipotle-style). None the less, I give this place 4.5 stars for at least satisfying my cravings. First, the ingredients are fresh! From the veggies you add to your poke bowl to the fish. They even have spicy crab which most places do not have. It was actually pretty good too! There's a lot more toppings that I haven't seen around like edamame, pineapple, etc. When choosing a sauce, I tried to order spicy mayo but the guy making my poke bowl made a suggestion to add ponzu and sesame oil then to drizzle the spicy mayo on top. I allowed it and I'm glad because it was just perfect! It wasn't overly saucy and it was light enough. In terms of portions, I thought it was fine for me but it could be a little less compared to other places. At the end of the meal, we got complimentary green tea ice cream. Yumm! Don't forget to check-in for a free beverage! read more

Poke Ave - Got half salad, half white rice as the base - Seafood Near Me - Brea, California

I rarely give out 5 stars unless I really think the business is superb in all aspects. This place really deserves it in my opinion. The food was honestly really great compared to the price and I love how customizable this place is. The other places I usually go for poki have a set menu, so I loved how personal you can make your own bowl here. The service was good here also. All the employees were very friendly even with a lot of people in the small restaurant. I just wish they had more seats because I had to be wait a while to find seats for my friend and I. At the end of our meal, one of the employees have both of us green tea ice cream which was really nice. Overall, this place is definitely worth a try and I highly recommend this place for people to try. read more

Came here on my lunch break, first off I'm very picky when it comes to poke and I as soon as I saw how clean the location was and how organized the poke selection was I knew I made the right choice, the salad was very fresh I got the crab, cucumbers avacado, tuna salmon and shrimp it tasted very good I got three sauces I don't remember the names but man they really made the salad that much better, the lady behind the counter who helped me with my meal was so friendly and I would recommend this place to anyone great poke and great service ! read more

Very poor service. All of the employees are extremely rude and give the customers a very hard time especially if you are asking recommendations. The food is not the greatest either. DO NOT COME TO THIS STORE EVER!!!! read more

So, my son told me that he loved poke. I had know idea what it was until a few weeks back. I was at another store and overheard the lady working at Poke Ave having a conversation with someone. She was so passionate about explaining why that person should try it. Yesterday, I tried it. WOW, delicious doesn't quite accurately describe how it tasted. If you simply like sushi, then you're in for a treat. 5/5 stars, and lady, I will be back for the spicier version very soon. read more

Great poke! Delicious, and I have to say the cleanest Poke place I've ever been to. Great service, great experience.

Love love love this place. It is my weekly must have. They have a great selection of sauces and the fish is always fresh. They have done an outstanding job during COVID and I look forward to a meal here every time we come in. We love their poke bowls and their poke burrito. The staff is very friendly and if there is a line, it is worth the wait. read more

Checked out this Poke Joint before heading to the movies with some pals. One of the criterias I look for in a poke place is the freshness of their raw salmon meat. It starts out like any other poke places where you have a line to order your food step by step. They have a decent selection of food ingredients but their prices are a little more expensive than most poke places I've tried. Unlike most poke places with 3 serving size selections, this place only have 2. They serve a regular $10 for 3 scoops or a large $13 for 5 scoops. I usually order a regular so it didn't bother me but it did affect my friend who was hoping to get a smaller serving size since the regular size could be very filling. I am glad to say the salmon did not disappoint. I was really pleased with it and the other selections I had (spicy tuna & Scallop) were good too. What made it better was their complimentary miso soup with every bowl that we ordered. It was such a good pairing with my poke meal. The only unfortunate thing I could think about here was that they do not serve Yellow Tail. Yellow tail is my typical choice for poke but this place didn't offer any. Me and my friends had a good experience here. I wouldn't hesitate to come back here for some poke. read more

Foods always so amazing and they give great portions. Super expensive now but I mean what's not now days.

I really wanted to like this place because of the good reviews and because I love poke, but I was extremely disappointed. My order had so much rice and the smallest portion of poke I've ever gotten at any poke spot. The pictures on Yelp make me sad because my bowl had half the amount of poke as theirs did. The person who made my bowl was very stingy with the toppings and sauce. Maybe I was just unlucky, but I probably won't be back. read more

-1 star because the older lady behind the counter was really short and sort of rude. She kept on saying "WHAT ELSE. K. What else !" Like geez there's no one behind us, we were the only ones in the restaurant around 1 on a Saturday . -1 bc there was no green tea ice cream like the reviews said :(( On the bright side, the fish was delicious and fresh . Extra for avocado :/ don't know if I'd drive out of my way for this place. read more

It is average , didn't suck . But not returning, they were on the stingy side even with the rice. I asked for sauce on the side. Luckily I live close by because I've been here so many times. The fish is always fresh. There are a lot of great toppings, they even have pineapple which I absolutely love with poke (don't knock it til you try it). I get half salad and half brown rice and when it comes to choosing the sauces, they always ask if I want ponzu on the salad and the whole bowl ends up tasting better. The prices are decent, maybe a bit higher than other places but they give a lot of food. read more

I love sushi so I tried many different places also poke places but I love Poke Ave much better than others because it is fresh and portion is big too. Actually I gave this place bad command under previous ownership but it really has been changed under new management. Fish, it is not easy to keep in fresh but I think they are really good care to keep in fresh. Since with new ownership it has been improved so much. I m surely will visit Poke Ave again. read more

We're a bit new to Poki bowls, but this place by far beats the ones we've tried so far! The protein selection is tasty, very fresh and the sides are really delicious as well. Extremely generous portions of freshness, a lot of variety of toppings, proteins and sauces. Excellent quality seafood scoops backed with very friendly service. One of my all time most favorite poke places. I always order octopus as one of my protein scoops at every poke place I frequent and I must say, the octopus here is perfect. I like it chewy, blanched with a bit of ocean. I always get every topping for the most part and get my Poke A. rewards card stamped. Sometimes, I have a party of flavors in my mouth and get a blunt wrap next door then grab some pho noodle soup and a ban mi a few doors down in the same little center. Poke Avenue is so yummy. A poke place I will indeed be going back too. The portions are fair for the price, the fish tastes good, and the service is great. This lady in front of me was being pretty rude to him and he took it so well. It seemed like it didn't even phase him and he just continued to give her good service. I felt bad because people think they can just walk all over the customer service industry to make themselves feel powerful for a moment in their pathetic life. Anyways, the poke right. I wish I got the guys name, he was awesome, patient, efficient, and everything a manager would want in an employee. He had a nice hairstyle with (I think) earrings. Sigh. I don't remember. Overall, a nice meal that will fulfill that poke craving and get you real full. The fish tasted pretty fresh too. Major plus. read more

It has been quite some time since I've written a 1 star review, but this my friends is the worst place I've been to. I've been to this plaza multiple times since my husband gets his haircut at elite barbers and my nephew goes to the TKD studio. I've seen Poke Ave and never wanted to go in since I'm a faithful Poki Yaki fan, but I decided to check it out since the reviews were so great...bad idea. I went in and wasn't greeted...the employees were just staring at me...not helping me. I asked if they were closed and they said that they were. It was 8 PM...Yelp said they close at 8:30. I asked them about that and they yelled back "WE ARE CLOSE". RUDE. So I just stormed out to be greeted by a big nasty cloud of cigarette smoke. This freaking guy was just smoking right outside the door and when I walked out he basically snapped at me for not buying anything. Seriously...I felt like I was in the twilight zone. As I was walking away from him he called me a bitch in Korean... Later I told my brother about this place since his kid goes to the TKD studio and he said that guy is the OWNER. WHAT THE F&#* No wonder the employees are so horrid the person that's supposed to lead them is a freaking jerk! I WILL NEVER come back to this place. Not only was the service S*** but the restaurant itself smelled like fish...which is never a good sign. bleh! read more
