I love this place! Other than Pokinometry, I feel like I've found a duplicate that tastes 99% similar. The only difference would be the dynamite sauce that Pokinometry has available. The guy that helped me was super nice and took time on my meal. He was generous with portions and also didn't hesitate when I asked for more of anything. The service was really great and the food was fresh! For under $10 with the amount of food you get, it can't get any better. We ordered the regular poke bowl which was enough for the two of us--tons of toppings, selections of fish and even masago topping--for FREEE! Whaaaaa They even gave us a free green tea ice cream! This is by far my favorite poke bowl place. I never write reviews but I had to for Poke Ave. For a regular bowl they give bigger portions than any place around. They don't just stock you up up with rice either, they also give large portions for the sides and fish. The best part is they don't sacrifice quality with quantity. Everything is fresh and delicious and the price can't be beat with what you're getting. It is family owned by a married couple and the husband freshly prepares the fish and the sides daily while the wife provides customer service and runs the business. #JustOK I normally go to the poke joint off of Brea Blvd but thought I'd give Poke Ave a shot and stopped by for lunch last week. The storefront was clean and the workers were friendly (That's always a plus). Food also tasted okay. I got the 3 scoop, regular bowl ($8.99) and got my typical salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. Toppings seem to be consistent with many of the other places. I was surprised about how they also had the option of choosing spicy crabmeat. However, they provide smaller portions and the workers are slightly stingy about giving you extra....drumroll...cilantro. After asking the server twice if I can "have a bit more," I gave up because I was so embarrassed. Fish scoops also seemed less than other places. They also don't have green tea ice cream anymore - I'm assuming that it was only temporary for their soft/grand opening? Overall, the food wasn't bad, but also nothing spectacular either. Considering the number of poke places opening up in Brea, there definitely has to be some unique factor to differentiate one from the rest. Poke Ave is located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. I was greeted right away when I walked through their doors since there was no line and quickly browsed the menu to see which poke size I wanted. They offer the burrito, regular, or large. The combinations include the following: -Burrito: 2 scoops (white rice and seaweed wrap) with the soy wrap $7.99 -Regular: 3 scoops $8.99 -Large: 5 scoops $11.99 They have 6 steps total for your entire poke experience (the usual amount). I'll admit that this is one of the more pricier poke places I've visited in the OC. I went with the large to see how much the portion size would be. I chose all toppings excluding the jalapeño which they used using a mini scooper. Then for my five poke scoops, I chose the salmon, spicy salmon, yellowtail, tuna, and octopus. Haven't seen octopus anywhere else which was a surprise but it is thinly sliced. The main sauce I went with was called the Lemon Creamy with a little extra mix of the Spicy Mayo and the Ponzu sauce. Presentation wise it was your usual standard poke in a combustable box and it was full. I was a little disappointed that their portion size was smaller than I expected since I wanted the poke bowl to be overfilling. For $11.99, you would expect there would be more fish given. There were more toppings compared to fish so the ratio was more like 2:1. The flavoring was decent but the fish was only okay. I've tried other places that offer fresher fish options with more quantity. The selling point for me was the dessert since I've read that they offered complimentary green tea ice cream. My family and I were waiting to see if it would come since we noticed another table already had it. We were already done with our food but didn't see any worker available or how we would get it. We almost gave up and were about to leave when one of the female workers came out with a tray of the ice cream! She said that they offer it to customers who only dine-in. Good thing it came out since the green tea ice cream was the selling point to finish off the meal properly. Who turns down free ice cream? Nobody. Honestly, I would have rated Poke Ave as 3 stars for the food. However, since their decent service and what they offer to their customers during the ordering process (extra sauces included or on the side at no charge) I have to give them credit that they do provide customers with what they want in the end. NO complaints when a new poke spot opens. Funny how I drive past this plaza hundreds of times yet I never noticed it until now. I follow the poke! Great selection of seafood to choose from: -Spicy salmon -Spicy tuna -Salmon -Tuna -Albacore -Yellowtail -Octopus -Shrimp In addition to poke bowls, they offer customized "burritos" that I still need to try. There's tons of sauces to choose from as well. I went with the ponzu, spicy mayo, and loca (spiciest) sauces. I had to say it was not spicy at all, which kind of bummed me out. Given that this place has 5 stars, I had to try it, especially with poke being such a food trend right now. I got a regular poke bowl (~$10) with salmon and tuna topped over white rice. I paired my fish with sesame oil, spicy mayo, and red onions. I also had sides of avocado, edamame, and green onions. Overall, the fish were relatively fresh and I'd say they give a decent portion size. I like how you can choose as many sides as you want (except some like the crab cost extra). The only thing was that I had an avocado seed in my bowl...which was so disappointing... I'm sure it was a unlucky mistake but I was really looking forward to some more avocado in my bowl.. Anyways, I'll try this place again..maybe sometime in the future but I'm going to go try the other new poke places that have been popping up everywhere first! read more

When it comes to Chipotle Style Poke Places, I have to give it a high standard because there are so many and every one is hard to differentiate from another, and I like to see what poke places can bring that are outside of the box. This place brought it self outside of the box, but seemingly looking like it was the run of the mill type. This place is for sure a great poke spot in the Brea Area. *Salmon or Spicy Salmon - One leading the different variety of things is the spicy salmon. No many places have it at the start. They either have it as you mix it with the flavors. This place has it and it taste great. **Spicy Crabmeat and Crabmeat - NO OTHER POKE PLACE in my list of poke places have this. If this becomes an on-going trend then please continue to follow it. Came here with my sister tonight for dinner. We are on a quest to find the best poke place in all of town. Lol Food quality: 3/5 -- fresh seafood, missing scallops though. The fish cubes are too small for my liking -- spicy mayo and wasabi mayo was not spicy at all. Too much mayo -- the scoops of everything are too small -- I like the seaweed salad that is included Service: 2/5 -- too slow because they are inefficient. The scoopers are too small so that they have to scoop twice for one scoop or else it is way too little per school. The size of a one full scoop is about the size of a ping pong ball. They have a sneeze guard wall that is too high so that if you are short, they can't really hear your order unless you almost shout. Also their music is too loud and they don't speak loud enough so it's hard to hear them as well. Ambiance/setting: 2/5 -- very small -- not decorated -- single trash can located behind a seat. So awkward and tight to go throw your thrash away. -- music too loud Value: 1.5/5 -- it wasn't too expensive at all. About 9 for a medium, but it's super small scoops of everything -- they only include one tiny scoop of the imitation crab, and if you want more it's extra 50 cents. The food here tastes fresh and good. There was no fishy smell and the interior is small and can seat I would say like roughly 14'ish customers. The sushi burritos and regular bowls cost the same at $11. For sushi burritos you can only get 2 sashimi and 3 toppings. For regular bowls you can get 3 types of fish and as many toppings as you want. For large bowls also it comes with 5 scoops and unlimited toppings for $13. Pick based on how hungry you are. I think it's worth it to just get the large bowl and maybe share with a friend or lover. Their sushi burritos and bowls are delicious. For a new comer I would definitely give their wasabi mayo a shot, but be warned it is pretty strong. Now for my first visit, it just felt like customer service was somewhat lacking. I didn't feel very welcome here...I felt sort of rushed and dumb since I wasn't sure how the ordering process went. I mean, yeah I guess it's sort of on the menu but sometimes it is a bit overwhelming when you step into new territory and you're unsure of how the process goes. I want to be an ally, not an enemy. So I've been coming to this place since 2016, and I still love it. Now, this is the only place she's willing to get poke from, so we'll drop by for dinner once every other week or so. There's lots of different toppings and sauces too! I personally like to mix spicy mayo, sesame oil, ponzu, and eel sauce into the fish, and then have them drizzle more spicy mayo and eel sauce on top. The restaurant in itself is very clean. I've never had any sanitary issues with this place. It's one of the few places I can eat where I'm not concerned about cleanliness. The water, believe it or not, is actually really good! I'm pretty fed up by places that give you water out of the tap or from the fountain that tastes like crap. Stopped by for a quick lunch with my mother in law while running errands in Brea. She was craving poke & wanted me to search up any places on our route. There was one I had looked at before coming across this yelp page. It looked small, but it seemed so much more intriguing. When we stopped by it was pretty slow, but the customer service was still amazing! We both got a generous serving amount for the bowls we got. The bowls a Farley big size even for a medium which comes in 3 scoops of your choice of fish. I haven't had a large but a medium is pretty big for me. Yeah...sorry yelpers this place is not very good. There must be a lot of reviewers that haven't had much poke or something. We came in here on a Saturday and there was only one person the entire time we ate here...not a good sign. Price for a medium seemed reasonable. Avocado is extra...one of us ordered it and they give you about 1/6 of an avocado it feels like...it was a sad sliver. Fish quality seemed fine (hopefully)..octopus was on the chewy side though. Sauces were ok...nothing special and nothing I would come back for. The rice though was undercooked and borderline inedible....was hard to tell whether it was fresh rice too or had been cooked on a previous day. It also clumped together which was weird. Today was a bit busier than all the previous times I've been but I was still able to make a to-go order and be out of there rather quickly.
