    Chicken Katsu

I have been to this place for Hawaiian food a few times couple years ago, and recently I tried it again. Quality of the food was obviously not as good as before. I ordered one of their signature menu items chicken katsu, portion looks good, but then I found out there was not much chicken. Also the macaroni salad was so small. Yes I was disappointed. The katsu sauce tastes good. Price was a little more expensive, but quality was going down.

I read the Yelp reviews and decided to try Maui Hawiian Barbecue on a Monday. Went in just before noon and there were 2 people in the dining room waiting for to go orders. Restaurant furnishings are somewhat outdated in the large dining room. Tables, chairs, and booths are clean. Now the important part.. You place you order and pay at the counter. Food is prepared when orders are placed and arrives piping hot. Ordered the Pineapple BBQ chicken and it was so delicious. Generous and tender chicken in a pineapple sauce with pineapple chunks...so tasty. Dish comes with Mac salad and white rice at about $17.

My first review of the new year! We visited Maui Hawaiian bbq on a whim today. Overall the food was pretty good, but the service was a little slow. Spam Masubi - 3/5 There was a lot of rice and a thin slice of spam. It could've used some extra seasoning but my son just used some teriyaki sauce California Rolls - 3/5 While the rolls were large, the seaweed was too chewy and hard for my toddler to eat. She doesn't have this problem with any other California rolls she's had at any restaurant. The sushi rice was dry Hawaiian BBQ Chicken - 3.5/5 The chicken had good flavor, but cutting the chicken to share with my toddler was harder and she didn't find the texture appealing. The cooked veggie bed below the chicken was good, but wish they were a bit more generous with the veggies. We had a single carrot piece and a few pieces of cabbage. Overall it was an ok visit for casual dining. Hopefully they will get more help soon to improve the wait time. There was a sign on the window for help wanted.

I've been really craving Hawaiian food lately. We went to Hawaii about a year ago, and I've been missing it so much, so we've been trying a bunch of Hawaiian spots around Southern California. Out of all of them, Maui's Hawaiian BBQ is easily the most authentic and my favorite one so far. The prices are super affordable. We got a combo plate with multiple types of protein for around $20, and they really pack it in. The portions are generous, and the food quality is consistently great. We've been here multiple times, and it's always fresh, juicy, and full of flavor. There's plenty of seating, and they've got a ton of sauces, which I love for dipping. The menu is huge, seriously, you can find just about anything you'd expect from a good Hawaiian BBQ spot, and I think they even do catering too. We also grabbed musubis this time, and they were delicious. Overall, this place hits the spot every single time. It's affordable, consistent, and honestly feels the closest to what we had in Hawaii.

We've visited Maui Hawaiian a number of times and the food has been good. They give a good amount and you will definitely leave feeling full. The staff has been a hit or miss, not much personality but professional. There is plenty of seats and the restaurant is a decent size. They have fountain drinks that you serve your self. Chicken teriyaki and beef are tasty, so is the katsu.

Loco moco over medium pretty good

I did not have high expectations for this place not for any particular reason but it was actually I satisfying experience. Parking was easy restaurant appeared clean the staff was friendly and I got my food pretty quick and it was made to order fresh. Not 5 stars because the spam music has too much seaweed not enough spam and the price for the loco moco is a bit strong but it is good and lots of food. So good value just felt it was sit down restaurant price

The rib was the only decent thing Katsu doesn't taste good, had to put a lot of sauce to eat it . The bbq chicken super hard and chewy. I'd definitely not spend /$20+ there again The cashier was nice lady tho, Inside looks a bit messy as well, corner the ceiling is missing , and a lot black bags I was craving Hawaiian, definitely disappointed me

Bbq beef no cabbage extra Mac F****ing amazing

Really enjoyed my food here. I like how they had the sauce warm and you can pump it yourself. Recommend the bbq chicken.

The chicken was seasoned so well. The shrimp pad Thai was delicious, and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. We also got the green chicken curry with eggplant, which was so flavorful. My husband and I agreed it's one of the best curries we've had! The papaya salad was refreshing with a little spice. Since they're known for their Thai style chicken and rice, we tried that too. The fried chicken was my favorite, it was wonderfully crispy. We finished with Thai tea and a galaxy honey lemonade, both of which were refreshing and not too sweet. I'd happily come back, especially for the curry and fried chicken!

We started with the Blue Butterfly Pea Flower drink, and it honestly tasted like water with syrup. I asked our server about it and was told it was honey. He did offer to replace it, which I appreciated, but the interactions throughout the meal felt awkward and not particularly welcoming. We also waited quite a while to order while tables that arrived after us were helped quickly... The coconut shrimp was good and probably gave me too much hope for what was coming next. Crispy, flavorful, and paired with good sauces. The Thai tea was also really good. Unfortunately, the Panang seafood curry was a big letdown. The portion was small with a lot of rice, the squid was extremely chewy, and the catfish had a very strong fishy taste. There were also leaves left throughout the curry that were unpleasantly bitter when eaten. The pad kra pao was another disappointment. I was actually excited to see it on the menu since not every Thai restaurant around here offers it. We ordered medium, but this was WAY beyond what I would consider medium. I enjoy spicy food, but there's a difference between heat that enhances a dish and heat that keeps you reaching for water. The portion was also small compared with the amount of rice, and the fried egg was overcooked with basically no runny yolk. Presentation was nice, and there were definitely a few things I enjoyed, but between the portions, inconsistent food, service, and overall experience, I left disappointed. For Thai food in the area, I'd personally rather make the drive elsewhere. 3/10.

We made a special trip to Ono's because my son loves spam and rice. We ordered the spam & egg plate and requested to remove the egg and have a couple extra slices of spam instead. This has never before been a problem, as the staff had happily made this accommodation, since my son doesn't like eggs of any kind. It doesn't even say "no substitutions" anywhere on the menu. This time, however, the manager, Robert, said he could only remove the egg, but would not give us even one slice of spam extra, and that it would be full price. Mind you, this is a $15 plate, so he was saying we could have two (2) slices of Spam and some rice for $15. This had never been the case before, and I pointed that out. He wouldn't budge, and insisted I pay full price. In short, we walked out and went to the local L&L Hawaiian BBQ, which had the same exact portion size, substituted the egg without question for a total of five (5) slices of spam, and cost much less on top of it. In looking over other prices, Ono's is usually more expensive in every choice than L&L, so we'll just go to the Hawaii-originated L&L
