I saw this poke place in the mall and asked if they had a small plate. The small size was just right. The service was quick and the employee making my mini guided me along the steps. My poke bowl was delicious and the flavors reminded me how local poke bowl is made. The establishment is located in the food court and hidden in a corner. If you're looking for something small in a poke bowl, give them a try. Ambiance is clean and bright.

I'm really torn about this one because the food is not totally terrible. We used to come here often, but lately I can't even pinpoint what the problem is. We ordered (2) 2-choice boxes. I like the fact that you can do half salad / half rice. I think what I don't like is that everything is crammed into a small box, so I felt like everything was just stacked on each other. The poke was good but not life changing. I did get a mild spicy for the shrimp but my mouth was pretty much on fire and not enjoyable. Service was great. The girls working were helpful and attentive. It's very clean inside so I do like that about this place. I'll visit again, but not anytime soon.

I wasn't expecting much for a food court restaurant but this is actually one of my favorite poke places. Caveat, I'm a vegetarian so that means I do the tofu poke and can't comment on the fish (sorry!) but I love any poke place that offers a tofu alternative. I ordered the Mauka box which includes the purple potato salad and two sides. I did the spicy sesame sauce (best one), with furikake, and double tamago. It's enough to share or make two meals but it's my go to in the food court, I wish they stayed open later is my only thing. They close at 7 which is usually when I eat dinner.

Love this place! The service is always great. The workers seem pretty chill. They don't try to rush you through the process of picking out what you want in your poke box. The food is of good quality. Lots of options to choose from for your protein, sauces, and sides. I make sure to stop in every once in a while because they never disappoint. I would highly recommend trying them if you're at Ala Moana!

Everything is awesome! This place is heaven in a box. Delicious, decadent, pink _______. Get the popular box, cause just like how Ariana Grande sang in Wicked, its all about popular. Nom nom nom!

Looking to satisfy my poke cravings, I stumbled upon this spot in the Ala Moana food court. The location is pretty cool, and the team here is super friendly--seriously, they've got that aloha spirit down! The poke boxes are huge, definitely enough for two meals or to share, and the variety is off the charts. You can customize your box with all kinds of toppings, sauce, and extras. I went for the Makai box, while my dad tried the Mauka box. He said his was just okay, and honestly, I think I might have gotten a bad scoop because my fish wasn't the freshest. After reading some other reviews, it seems like they might be mixing fresh poke with the frozen stuff--bit of a bummer there. Plus, it's a bit pricey for what you get; after taxes and tips, a medium box runs about $20. But hey, other than those minor hiccups, this place is a solid find and definitely worth a try, especially if you're into big portions and lots of choices. Just maybe bring a friend to help you finish it, or you'll be hauling leftovers around the mall--because, you know, if you're paying $20, you're eating every last bite!

The first time I went I thought it was soooo delicious and the perfect amount. (I got a small box for $16 or something. The second time I went I ordered the same thing and I didn't enjoy it at all lol. I don't know why?? Maybe I wasn't as hungry... Anyways not much to say about ambiance, it's in the food court lol. The server girl was fine, though it was hard to understand her...

An okay spot if you're absolutely in need of a poke fix, in my opinion it was so so! The sides and portion were good and the sauces they use to mix the poke with are flavorful. Just wished they served fresh poke. Correct me if I'm wrong but the poke has a specific "previously frozen" taste. As for the service the workers need a bit more work. No acknowledgment just look at you until you direct them on what you want. When I went over the allowed amount of sides, I was rudely corrected with, "you can only have 2!!" Instead it would've been better if they said, " we usually give two choices, however if you want more sides it will be an up charge, is that ok?"

This is NOT Hawaiian poke, and if you're going in with the right expectation, it's really pretty decent! First of all, after having tried poke at many local spots on island, unpopular opinion here - I prefer the mainland style poke than hawaiian because there's more depth in the flavors with a bunch of ingredients. I like the tempura, the imitation crab salad, the wakame salad and everything in my poke bowl! I do enjoy Hawaiian poke too, but most of the time it's too plain for me. It's either the pure Japanese nigiri / sashimi or mainland poke for me. If I had to mix in some sauces and flavors for the fish, I might as well go all out lol With that said, I believe a lot of low ratings is the unmanaged expectations. For me, it's a nice surprise when I first came here because it's so hard to find mainland poke in Hawaii! I don't normally get ahi because it's too lean and bland. I usually get salmon and tako (octopus, not squid). Their salmon had always been very fatty and fresh with big chunks served, and the tako had always been tender and not sliced too thick. My recommended combo - medium with 2 proteins 3 toppings, spicy shoyu and spicy sesame for sauces, salmon and tako for protein, tempura bits, masago and wakame salad for toppings. That's my usual order. I've tried other toppings like kimchi, choy sum, etc. and they don't taste as good. (Edamame and corn would be OK too.) Not much service to comment about. Pretty much just go up and tell the staff what you want. One lady doesn't seem to speak English well. The younger staff seem more friendly. It's expensive. My bowl cost $18 where it would normally cost $13-15 in mainland. Poke in generally has gotten more expensive. Or I should say everything in general? Well I don't eat that often so it's OK.

Went outside of my usual methodology, instead of over analyzing reviews I just picked this from the food court because I was hungry and feeling hot, so I didn't want a hot dish. Plus there's no good poke where I live, so taking advantage of poke while visiting Honolulu. My expectations were low, being at the mall, plus realizing when I walked in that they were closing and I was the last customer. To be fair, I was crossing my fingers I didn't make a bad decision with fish here so late in the day. Boy was I wrong. The meal I got was wonderful! Even the rice wasn't stale, plus the fish portions were quite generous. I ordered a medium bowl because I was hungry and it was a nice big portion. Got 3 sides and different toppings, the kimchi was so good, not really spicy if you like spicy, but flavorful nonetheless. I am not a fan of mall food, but I wouldn't mind returning here while I'm visiting. Surprising little gem here.

Lunch at Ala Moana Center in Honolulu, Hawaii... Irene M. and i were looking for a poke place and our non-Yelper friend suggested Poke & Box because her daughter likes it - and she warned us that it was on the pricey side ($16.99 plus tax)... Okay! Poke & Box is located right outside of the Makai Market Food Court. The free parking at the mall is much appreciated! The air conditioned environment at the Food Court is a bonus! Service was efficient and polite! We had a choice of a set box or make your own. I decided to get a base of green salad (instead of rice or brown rice), two-choices of poke (salmon and shrimp), and make my own. I selected the shoyu sauce for the shrimps (with tails intact). It was a bit salty, so I added my sides of corn and edamame with each bite. The ogo wasn't flavored with vinegar and had an ocean flavor. The creamy Asian sauce and Furikake helped compliment the salmon poke. Overall, it was a fun experience. If I was craving poke and was in the area, I wouldn't mind returning and getting sweet potato, scallop, and tofu poke!

    Irene M.

When a craving hits that's when we explore... That's when a friend suggested Poke & Box which I've never been since I've heard mixed thoughts on it but her daughter really loves it so it was good enough for me!! So here we are with my bestie Nadine C we do love to go early right when places open as we get the choice of parking and it wouldn't be as crowded...meh wrong! I noticed they opened slightly early and they already had a few folks waiting to get an early start for lunch I assume so I took advantage of it and gave myself a chance to glance at their menu and figure out how it works. If you're indecisive like me they do have a set of 5 Signature boxes which is nice if you like the variety but there was something I didn't like in each so it just customized my own. Super easy first you start with your size of... Small (One choice + two toppings) Medium (Two choices + three toppings) Large (Three choices + three toppings) or Keiki (One choice + two toppings) Base (White, Brown rice or Salad...no dressing available) Add-on to your poke is all free (white onion, green onion, crab salad and limu) Choice of poke... Ahi, Ahi & Salmon, Salmon, Tako, Shrimp, Scallop, Chicken, Tofu and Sweet Potato. Then it's your sauce and with 13 to choose from it's all a matter of that cravings and pairing lol!! Decide on your toppings (14 to choose from btw) also one topping for your rice or salad (furikake, nori, tempura bits or dried onion). So here's my creation of a medium box...brown rice with ahi in #8 very spicy sauce with just limu, tofu in #13 spicy ponzu with limu, edamame and kimchi with furikake on my rice...BAM!! When they say spicy there certainly is a kick but not as crazy for the spicy lover out there, it was yummy and just hit the spot. Everything is fresh though slightly salty but a great experience to make it all your own. I'll be back for sure to try it with a salad as it's nice here to be "picky" with our food. Thank you!

Mauka vegetarian $18.99 no frills no drinks and no aloha !!!
    Hélène C.

Well let me say $18.99 for a dish of veggies is beyond ridiculous... especially at a mall - style paid 13 ish last time and food was great last time and felt like splurging at $13.95 just cause on my lunch break yesterday. The lady was super cold no aloha and didn't distinguish that it's wasn't $13.95 like sign said - she never asked what size I wanted . So much to my surprise when I went to pay she said $18.99!!! I said the sign says $13.95 she just gave me attitude & I didn't feel like fighting. The tofu was great however the sweet potatoes were hard not fully cooked. I will never go back again - my prediction they will be out of business eventually unless they goto Waikiki where tourists can afford it. So they charge me For a 100% vegetable dish half of which is rice the same as if I am eating POKE - no thanks!!! I recommend you clarify with the rude lady as she starts your order. As far as ambiance it's a mall food court- the food establishment is very clean and sanitary. Customer service sucks!

I missed the photo op but there was nothing captivating. The spicy sauce on the spicy salmon couldn't cover up the gamey taste. Same goes for the miso ahi, but it was slightly better than the salmon. The poke wasn't cut consistently, had some stringy pieces, and wasn't cold enough either. It seemed like it had been saturated for a while, too slimy. Plastic or styrofoam bowls would definitely help with the presentation. They're currently charging $20 for poke bowls served in a mini plate lunch container filled with mostly rice. The best part of the trip was the gelato. It's not theirs, they are vendors for Il Gelato. The dragonfruit and mango lilikoi combo made up for the mediocre poke. I would return for the gelato.
