    Build Your Own Poke Nachos

The poke nacho's fried wonton are pre made so there's a chance they can taste a little stale, but that is a more than worth it trade off for quick service during work lunch hours. (I went at 11:00am) they have been nice and crunchy on both occasions I've been. The regular is two scoops and the large is three scoops. Pictured is the two scoop. It has the same flow as a regular poke bowl, so you have the same options for fish and customization.

This is a small spot in Fort Street mall. I was ono for a Poké bowl and saw that this place had good reviews on yelp. I will definitely go back. I ordered the poke with limu and the creamy salmon. You can choose to have half rice and half veggies, so I did! On top of that, there are tons of vegetables to choose from to add as toppings to your Poké bowl. I got all of it. Added some wasabi mayo and ponzu sauce and I got one of my favorite Poké bowls ever! The lady servicing me was very nice and accommodating. The Poké bowl came with a bowl of miso soup. The fish was fresh, not previously frozen. That alone would bring me back. Check it out!

Stopped by for lunch and Poke & Bap didn't disappoint. This hidden gem was surprisingly open on a Saturday afternoon and the owners were the sweetest for letting us swing by before closing. I got a build-your-own 2-scoop bowl with ahi tuna and the fish was smooth and buttery. Their topping selection was great as well. Are bowls came with free miso soup on the side which was a nice plus. Highly recommend.

Salmon & Vegetable with mild dresssing

What originally was Ahi & Vegetable became Ahi & Roll. And now, what used to be Ahi & Roll became Poke+Bap. What's the same? The warm friendliness of the staff. The dining tables and chairs. The MILD SAUCE salad dressing (VERY IMPORTANT!) Fresh sashimi, good salad. The rest of this review is gonna center on what I'm an expert in at this particular suite: The Salmon & Vegetable. Poke+Bap adds some uhh is it seasoned spinach (I swear I grew up here but never learned what this actually was - refer to photo) with your salad which is just excellent because I love that stuff. They also go ahead and include the miso soup with your order. They even ask you if you're ok with having the green onions in it or not. The take-out container for this is a nice presentable clear plastic. Shows off your excellent meal decision. Now, there is one thing they changed that, to me anyway, they dropped the ball on. It's the wasabi. They give you a LOT of it, but changed to using what I'm thinking is the actual natural unadulterated wasabi probably -- the mouthfeel is different and there is zero kick to it. I tried it twice and it's just eating paste. Thankfully, I always take my meal home where I bust out the tube of S&B or House Foods and save the meal. They got bowls here too, if that's more your thing than salad. You can choose sushi rice for your rice too, same as before (I recommend this). So the long and short of it: Just as good as before if not better, but bring your own wasabi

Great, friendly service. House ahi and salmon were amazing! Very fresh food. I love a little hole in the wall with great food, and this is the spot!

Great little mom and pop place! Delicious food. Would definitely go back the next time I am in HNL.

Three-Choice Bowl: House Poke, Spicy Salmon, and Salmon.
    Yun G.

This place just opened up in the same exact spot Ahi and Vegetable used to be. The fish was super fresh and very delicious. I ordered the Three-Choice Bowl which was $17.50. I understand that this might come across as pricey to the typical lunch crowd, but the price of poke has gone up. But I assure you, it's well worth the price. Especially since you can pick three types of poke for your bowl as well as so many other toppings for free.

They occasionally offer salmon as well! Obviously the dining ambiance is prolly the downside as it's a simple outdoor patio in front of the venue, but hey it does the job! I missed the photo op but there was nothing captivating. The spicy sauce on the spicy salmon couldn't cover up the gamey taste. Same goes for the miso ahi, but it was slightly better than the salmon. The poke wasn't cut consistently, had some stringy pieces, and wasn't cold enough either. It seemed like it had been saturated for a while, too slimy. Plastic or styrofoam bowls would definitely help with the presentation. They're currently charging $20 for poke bowls served in a mini plate lunch container filled with mostly rice. The best part of the trip was the gelato. It's not theirs, they are vendors for Il Gelato. The dragonfruit and mango lilikoi combo made up for the mediocre poke. I would return for the gelato.

The tuna is fresh, very light, and I can taste a little bit of salt from the Limu Ahi. If you're looking for something light and not too heavy, order a regular size and it should be enough. The Poke was delicious and refreshing. I will definitely come back to Maguro brothers for Poke the next time I'm in Oahu.

In the photo attached, you can see the majority of their supposed "Chutoro" is dark pink. It was pretty tough and chewy. They really shouldn't advertise it as Chutoro if it's not, but I guess that's why it only costs $17. I will say the quality of their rice is top notch and the ikura was fresh as well. It's unfortunate as I do want to support Maguro brothers as I've been going to them for years, but I must call out the false advertising.

The restaurant was pretty cute both outside and inside, and I could tell it draws a good crowd for football games, which is a plus. For the poke bowls, we got the Spicy Shoyu Ahi, Furikake Salmon, and Ultimate. Overall, they were pretty good and decent bowls. I liked that there was a condiment bar at the end to add any toppings you wanted. The fish was fresh and well seasoned, with no fishiness at all. I just wished there was a bit more white onion for crunch, but it was good regardless. The Fish and Chips were really good. The fish was super crispy, the meat was firm, and the fries were nicely fried. The tartar sauce or maybe more of a lemony aioli, was the star. It wasn't your usual tartar sauce; it had a homemade lemony sweetness that made it delicious. My only complaint was that the batter came off the fish pretty easily, which made it a bit tricky to eat at times.

It was love at first bite for me with musubi and onigiri, so when I saw a spot dedicated to this deliciousness you better believe I made a point to go there! I ran even faster when StaciLei, Yelp Hawaii's amazing Community Manager, told me it's a must and gave me her list of greatest hits and must not miss items as a guide! Now I've had a lot of these in my life, and I must say, Iyasume are easily the best. See musubi and onigiri have humble origins as a quickly made homespun snack or on the go lunch, and when you spot them in the convenience environment they're often a giant ball of rice with a tinge of protein or seasoning for flavor. At Iyasume, these are culinary adventures, stacked with ingredients, all in handheld form, and the variety they offer is IMPRESSIVE! Of course musubi starts with the classic, SPAM. I had to order the kimchi + spam, shiso + spam, and unagi + tamago + spam, all of which were awesome (even the next day!). Onigiri here are actually layered with ingredients, so you get them in every bite, unlike the convenience store versions! They have a HUGE menu, and I went with spicy mentaiko and salmon, spicy mentaiko and ikura, ikura and salmon, and tuna mayo curry, all of which were great. I LOVE that they make these to order. You can see the line in the back hard at work, and they're very fast. You're sure to encounter a line when you arrive, but don't be scared, it moves quickly. I only had to wait about 5 minutes for mine to come up! Well worth it. Reasonably priced. Very filling. A taste of Hawaii and Japan in one place that'll have everyone smiling!
