However, the salmon had an aftertaste that I did not enjoyed. - I did have bad experience after and got sick for 3-5 days; I'm thinking it was the salmon since it didn't taste fresh. I was staying downtown and it was suggested I go up Mesa Avenue "over the hill" to find many eatery choices to choose from. What I found was your typical main drag of all the familiar fast-food chains. Then I found Poke 3 and decided to steer away from the norm. I was skeptical about Poke from Texas wondering how fresh this could really be? The selection was not as extensive as most places (tuna or salmon primarily for fish). The topping selections seemed normal (along with some Tex-Mex flare) as did the sauces. In the end I found that the flavors of the add-ons overwhelmed the fish. Very good poke, they have a lot of toppings to choose from. I got tuna as my protein and it wasn't bad. You can build your own bowl or choose from a couple. They also offer sushiritos, I haven't tried them yet but would like to. They have a lunch special from 12-2pm where you can get a free can of soda or chips with your meal. I used to loved this place, but today the service was awful. The service was very unprofessional and made my whole experience terrible. We arrived at 11:00 am and ever since we arrived, the server was mad and had an attitude. She "organized" the whole place by trowing all the chairs and making a scene. I ordered a bobba and she told me that it wasn't ready, I asked her how long is it gonna take to be ready, and she told me if I wanted well done (the bobba), and I was like well of course, then I ordered it, isn't a place supposed to have everything ready for once they open? She told me it was gonna be ready in 20 minutes, well she completely forgot about my order until I ask her, she was upset. At the end the server was very unprofessional, she told me and my friends to basically shut up because she couldn't hear the other customers, we weren't even near to her. Disclaimer: Although this is a less than stellar review I want to clarify I've only been here via drive thru so I give 3 stars even though my personal experience has been closer to 2. Maybe there's better luck to be had by going inside. I've been here a a couple of times and apart from the poke quality and freshness being less than that of other poke places in town I feel as though it's poorly managed. The times I've been, the person at the drive thru doesn't seem very familiar with the menu and they always seem to be out of several different things which makes ordering a long process. My last experience the drive thru ordering speaker had a sign saying it was out of order and to pull forward to order at the window. After waiting for several minutes at the window and a couple of light horn taps nobody came up to help me. The line started to back up and after a couple of more minutes of waiting I drove off assuming they must have been busy to see only 1 costumer inside. Wish I had a better experience with this place because there's not a ton of fresh healthy options on this side of Mesa. I think it's just lacking some better attention and customer awareness to be a reasonable option for a meal. read more

I love supporting local businesses, but that doesn't mean you can compromise quality and expect me to be okay with that. I ordered the Sun Bowl (which normally comes with salmon), but switched to Ahi. Why did I substitute the salmon for Ahi? Because among the bright orange tray of salmon, there were dark brown pieces inside the small portion they scooped out for me. I ended up regretting this decision for many, many reasons which I will describe later. Some positives: the rest of the toppings were great! A few unique features of this place that you won't get at Pokeworks are the toreado aoli sauce and the flamin' hot cheetos sprinkles. I think those were both delicious features catered especially to El Paso, and really tasted great with the citrus accents in the bowl. Here are my issues: Strike 1: They had a glass window where you could observe employees preparing fish. I watched them cut the Ahi, which was sitting next to a giant plastic bag full of red dye!! It looked so artificial I wanted to puke...and this reflected in the taste. Strike 2: The Ahi was so beyond bland that it might as well have been absent. I am not saying that I think other Poke places don't use defrosted fish, but I don't want to see all of that behind the scenes stuff! I may like McDonald's chicken nuggets, but that doesn't mean I want to watch them pipe in the filling into their nugget molds! It was completely unprofessional. Strike 3: The rice was burned and completely unpleasant to bite into. You cannot mess up the rice! Who wants to get random patches of crunch in the bed of rice below fish! That's how the rice I make at home turns out when I don't know what I'm doing. I really debated whether or not to post about my experience, but I feel obligated to share because I know that this restaurant will be getting a lot of foot traffic as it opens. When I first got my dish I was like oh no this is not gonna fill me up, but then when I started eating it and really enjoying all the fresh ingredients I stayed full and satisfied for pretty much the entire day. So far I have had 2 dishes one being the Poke Cubed Classic & the surf and turf, both soooo good! The staff are really nice & willing to go the extra mile. I was waiting on drive-through & no one responded, when I went in they apologize & allowed me to get extra sides that are typically extra. So I left as a happy camper. When I pulled up the parking lot was empty except for a truck which I am assuming was the employee working. I pulled around to the drive through and sat at the intercom for a long time . Nobody ever said anything. So I pulled up to the window and again, no one seemed to be here. So I looked up the hours and it was 5pm and confirmed they were open . So I honked and someone finally came to the window and told me to pull around again to the intercom to take the order. The service was great, the guy taking my order was very helpful explaining some of the things on the menu. I think it's so cool that on Wednesday's they have a small $5 bowl, it's great for first timers or if you're not super hungry like me. My order was ready real fast! 10/10 recommend! However since they put in the drive through I've been using it instead of going inside and every single time I order this it comes out different. I don't really understand why they can't look on the board when making it to see the ingredients because half the time they give me a bowl with peppers or forget the mango or even add those fish eggs. I was hesitant to try this place merely because it had a drive thru; boy am I glad I did! I went inside and the establishment was clean and the staff was friendly. The fish didn't have a fishy taste - seemed fresh - but the portions could've been larger. I liked that the fish wasn't pre-seasoned with any sauce so that allows you to enjoy the flavor of whatever sauce you choose to too your bowl. However it tad bit of salt and pepper goes a long way; especially for people that may not get a sauce at all. I didn't like that avocado, which is a basic ingredient where I'm from, has a $1 up-charge. Also, if you're unsure of what sauce to get they'll give you a little sample to try in a cup (nice!). I drive by this place on my way home so I decided to try it. As someone who eats poke fairly frequently, the other poke places in El Paso have fresher ingredients and taste better. Other places typically mix the protein with sauce before adding it to the rice, but Poke3 added it on top of all the toppings which made the seaweed soggy. The crab salad was also old and disappointing. The mango was in a syrup that took away the freshness component.The fish doesn't seem fresh and tastes bland. The portions are super small. One scoop is over $7 and 2 tbsp scoop is over $11. I do pay for quality and taste which this has neither. They could do better.
