UPDATE: The Red Curry is IN-CRE-DI-BLE! Spicy, flavorful.. easily one of the best things I've eaten since moving to El Paso!

Thai grub has done it again!! Love this place and so lucky I live so close by to be able to order all the time! Full of flavor and hands down the best fried rice I had ever had. I constantly craved this while I was pregnant as well they have a Facebook where you can see a menu, you can text the number your order and they will reply quickly! Don't forget to order fast especially on the weekends or they run out of food!

Good little food truck. I got the chicken Pad Thai and it was very flavorful. They definitely used very fresh ingredients and every single order was made on the spot. The only thing I suggest would be to use more lime. I definitely added more to my own plate, but it would have brought out the flavors a bit more.

I'm a big fan of food trucks and Thai food so I'm not sure what angel dropped Thai Grub in my neck of the woods, but for that I'm ever in their debt. This food truck has been on my radar for months because unfortunately for me, I'm also a fan of almost every type of cuisine I've come across and I only ever see TG at different food truck events meaning there are too many options, too numerous to mention. But finally... I just decided I needed to make a beeline for TG. I'm not sure if the options really change out that often because the posted menu seemed pretty permanent (or at least not something they're changing out daily). I can pretty much live off of Thai curry so I was ecstatic to see they have a Red Curry with rice. My better half ordered Pad Thai and I added a tea to my order. I ended up eating my PICs Pad Thai because it wasn't his jam. Both the curry and the Pad Thai were wonderful flavor explosions in my mouth! But the curry was very thin and the Pad Thai was a tinge too greasy/watery. That being said, I would still order the curry again. And it may be important to some (if you're not familiar with Thai food) that TG serves up some spicy eats... even ordering both dishes mild put off a lot of heat and had I not had the Thai tea, I would've been sweating. Oh! But that Thai tea though! Seriously yum! All in all, I really like TG. It hasn't replaced my favorite local Thai place, but it's a nice way to thai me over until my next trip to the UTEP/Kern Place area for some Pangang Curry.

Chicken Pad Thai (+extra bean sprouts): THE HIDDEN HANDHELD TEMPLE

THE LITTLE THAI FOOD TRUCK THAT COULD Yo Kanye, Imma let you finish, but first I have say that Thai Grub provided better service and personability than most restaurants that I have been to. Mic drop. Now to the feature presentation. Sometimes we find ourselves in the lowest of low situations. Sometimes the stress that we try to control ends up taking over us and we become a shadow of our former selves. In those moments, we can crumble and self destructively fill ourselves with grease and sugar, only to be even more disappointed. Or we can find a second chance. Whether you are studying for long hours or finishing up a tough hospital shift, Thai Grub is the beacon of light that will make everything be alright. It is funny...for some reason, in the most difficult of times, Thai food always seems to be the answer. And if you have not tried it, well, maybe you need Thai food in your life. Now let me tell you what you need to know, so you can be on your way. The FOOD: ENDLESS NOODLES = ETERNALLY GOOD LUCK Chicken Pad Thai (+extra bean sprouts): THE HIDDEN HANDHELD TEMPLE I hope you like surprises. When I first received the Chicken Pad Thai, the box was heavier than I thought. Then when I opened it, I saw more food than I thought. Finally, when I dug in, I realized that I received more food than I thought...and I think that is absolutely wonderful. Expect 2 meals out of this box (trust me, I eat a ton) and enough to carry you throughout the day. A mountain of perfectly chewy rice noodles coated in a tangy, sweet, and savoury sauce topped with dry, earthy, and crunchy peanuts as well as refreshing, cool, crisp bean sprouts...it is poetry in motion. The lime adds a refreshing tartness that helps cut down the intense flavors of the wok heat embedded into the noodles. The chicken breast takes on the flavor of the sauce, but was a bit chewy and dry (-1 star). The egg adds a soft, fluffy meatiness that goes well with the noodles. The noodles can become overwhelming, but they put enough egg, chicken, bean sprouts, and green onions to balance everything out. Overall, definitely a great choice if you have a craving for noodles and something that is not fried or grilled. The VERDICT: MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE I know I know...you are probably thinking, how could you review a food truck and compare it to restaurants. Well, I have to give Thai Grub props for executing at such a high level. The husband and wife team do a great job with taking phone orders ahead of time for you to pick up or you can drop by after the lunch rush to order up front. The Chicken Pad Thai with extra bean sprouts is a perfect mix of chewy noodles, bit sized chicken and egg, refreshing lime and bean sprout salad, and crunchy peanut topping. Definitely a salvation for those who have been working or studying those long hours or a nice treat to have once in a while. It is not the life changing Thai food experience that you find in Thailand or a reputable restaurant, but it can be in the right situation.

So tasty! Thai Tuesdays in the university medical center is my favorite day of the week! Such a great food truck with amazing chicken pad thai! The employees are super nice and it's super convient to be able to text them (915-588-3636) in the morning, and they always have it ready for pickup at noon. The serving size is huge for the price! Even when I share it with another person there's easily another meal in there.

Pad thai, i asked for extra fresh bean sprouts. No extra charge :-)
    Judy B.

Out of all the food trucks we've experienced thus far in El Paso, this one sticks out the most for me. Though not the best quality thai food, they definitely do some justice for cooking fast food thai out of a truck. It started off for me with their pad thai at a food truck show down recently. Let me tell ya, they know how to feed the crowd! I paid 9 bux for a mountain of pad thai with chicken! You can add another protein such as beef or shrimp for another 2 bucks only and man do they make sure to add it right! Not just a onesie or twosie type of extra shrimp, but a handful! They aren't deveined shrimp tho so for you germaphobia folks, be fore warned! I gave them my vote that day for the showdown since my husband ordered from a BBQ truck for some brisket tacos, about 9 bux as well. Sad, sad lil tacos to ever exist. For 4, COLD brisket tacos, you get this oddly long, shredded brisket with some shredded white cheese. I think Thai Grub definitely pulls thru by a mile there! Alas, even though the Grub satisfies your hunger, their flavors and quality were lacking a bit compared to Tara Thai/thai chef cafe. Their pad thai jus was lacking in flavor with a less savory, more sweet n sour kind of flavor. And their chicken was slightly dry, probably from being pre-cut into cubes and chilled. The curry was also severly watery in texture. Still delicious but threw me off. I especially loved how much shredded carrots and chopped onions and bamboo shoots they throw in! They serve up so much food, its always good for another lunch the next day. Thai tea was also a tad watered down tasting, as if the tea needs more steeping. Watch out for their spicyness! I ordered the mildest but when they make their curry, it will set you on fire still! Thank God for my thai tea to help cool it down some. I enjoy getting this still for lunch by the UMC, especially since my husband works at the el paso childrens hospital. So if he and i meet up for lunch, specifically on Tuesdays which is the day they only do lunches, you will find me there!

Pad Thai with all this excess sauce

Great serving size for the price! Friendly staff. But the Pad Thai and Drunken noodles could be improved. They always make those with too much sauce. I've honestly considered going home to strain the sauce out before.

Drunken noodles, medium heat spicy spicy.
    Aracely O.

For what you pay, you get a very generous amount of food. Food is made when ordered. Flavor of the noodles is really good. Simple but very pleasing. You can get a can soda for about a dollar your noodles and your set. Aroma is what attracted me to the food.

    Was delicious!
    Abraham M.

I'm definitely keep eating everytime I can. Noodles are the best. Don't hesitate and try them.

We both wanted to try their food since it's hard to find Thai establishments out here in El Paso. I'm from SoCal and there were plenty of options where I lived. Flame Thai is a pretty big restaurant when you walk in. They have plenty of seating for their customers which is nice. The decor is very sparse and two out of the 3 tv screens up at the front were not working. They allowed us to pick where we wanted to sit and we chose one of the booths. Right away I noticed part of the crown molding on the wall was missing. The overall visual appeal of the restaurant could use some tlc or a whole new revamp. For the positives: our waiter was friendly and attentive. He came to check up on us a couple times throughout our meal which was nice. Their Thai tea came in pretty big glasses and tasted good! Tasted like the bottled Thai tea I used to get from the market. I did like their crab Rangoon for appetizer, it was fried perfectly and the sauce for dipping was tasty! I also ordered the red curry and requested extra curry sauce. The portion was huge and enough for two people. They also got the spice level perfectly. The negatives were the beef bowl my husband ordered. He said it was very bland and had virtually no flavor. It also looked more like a salad bowl with how much lettuce they filled it with. The biggest disappointment was their pad Thai. That is one of my favorite Thai dishes and they managed to mess it up. For some reason it tasted more like sweet and sour noodles rather than pad Thai. I did not taste any fish sauce at all in the dish. It make me think of orange chicken sauce mixed with rice noodles. Not very tasty at all and I was left disappointed. Pad Thai is one of the most common dishes you find at Thai restaurants so I'm not sure how they managed to screw it up so badly. Lastly, the price of everything was over $80. Which both my husband and I did not think was worth the quality of food we got. Very expensive for subpar dishes. Not even the crab Rangoon or red curry could make it worth the price. We most likely would not return but I'm glad the whole meal wasn't a busy. They had a couple decent dishes but the ones they messed up just couldn't justify the price paid.

Their dipping sauce was like no other, light, fresh, spicy but not over powering with hints of lime, chile, fish sauce and rice vinegar. Now it is so watered down that it almost has no taste at all. There were huge chunks of chicken which I needed to cut in order to eat without choking. There were a few small shrimp and no Tofu to be found. They used to top it with green scallions and they were also missing. What was missing most, was flavor. It was barely coated with any sauce so it just tasted like rice noodles. I hate complaining and posting a bad review for what used to be my favorite Thai restaurant, but this is the third time my food was less than appetizing. Last two times I ordered Cashew Chicken, and both times the cashews were so badly burnt that it made the dish inedible. The Thai Spring Rolls were perfectly crisp, filled with fresh vegetables, and served with a flavorful dipping sauce. The Papaya Salad was a standout--refreshing, crunchy, and bursting with bright flavors, especially when paired with the heat of Thai bird chili. The Tofu Fry was a great appetizer, lightly fried to golden perfection, with a satisfying crunch and a soft, delicate interior. For mains, we enjoyed the Minced Chicken Salad (Larb), which was packed with zesty lime, fresh herbs, and a kick of spice--so authentic and well-balanced! The Pad See Ew was another highlight, featuring perfectly stir-fried flat noodles coated in a rich, savory sauce, complemented by tender chicken. The Pad Thai with shrimp was just as impressive, striking the right balance of sweet, tangy, and nutty flavors. To round out the meal, the Mango Sorbet Sticky Rice was the perfect dessert--sweet, creamy, and refreshing. It appears to be privately owned so I wish they would put more heart into this place (both the food and the environment) because I love eating at places that are local or family owned, but in this case not so much. While at the mall with my boyfriend we realized we were a little hungry so thought it would be nice to stop and grab something quick and easy. We weren't feeling like McDonald's or Subway and neither of us had every been to RTK so we gave it a go. Contrary to the name, Ruby Thai Kitchen doesn't serve Thai food. That's pretty disappointing. The food available is Americanized Chinese food. My boyfriend went with some plate or other, but almost every single one of their protein options were made with chicken... not so appealing to me that day (and after trying whatever my boyfriend got I'm glad I didn't settle for any of them). The other options didn't look that great to me so I figured I'd just get a couple of egg rolls. Unfortunately these were the worst egg rolls I've ever had. It tasted like ALL cabbage and the cabbage tasted old. The outside had been fried, but it wasn't good and not really crisp either (maybe sitting around too long... maybe previously frozen and cooked at a low temperature). I added a ton of soy sauce and a spicy sauce that was available at the front which still wasn't enough to make it appetizing. I ended up throwing away the majority. The inside of RTK is a little dingy. Tables are pretty close together and congested. They could've put in a little more work to open this place, nice tables, better lighting, wall decorations. There was just nothing appealing about this experience. Even the staff made me feel a little uneasy, like I was inconveniencing them in some way... like okay fine, I'll make my own food, you go relax kind of way.
