Good food, very disjointed service with good atmosphere. I ordered what I always do at any Thai place, chicken pad thai (hot....or so they said), thai tea and egg rolls. The food had good flavor, however they do not know how to cook thai hot, their version of thai hot is what I would consider medium. The service was one waiter running around like crazy at first and then after a while a second waitress who was splitting her time cooking and attending to tables which explains why it took 30 minutes to get entrees. This is a friendly place to get Thai food. We've been here several times over the years and surprised I never left a comment. The atmosphere is great as well as the service. Also, there are several tables to grab a seat. Then the Thai food is the best you can get in El Paso. They have Masan, panang, karee, leaw warn curry and various fried rice and noodle dishes. Then if you love Thai iced tea they also provide this drink which I strongly recommend. It's sweet but a different kind of sweet. The parking can be tight but I haven't had an ossie getting a parking spot. This is not your traditional Thai restaurant if you are a Thai connoisseur, but it is still amazing. I think there are only a handful in the area of El Paso and I selected this one due to the size of the restaurant. Ally was working the entire restaurant on her own, and she did an incredible job. She is very pleasant and clearly loves to work here. I ordered the Thai tea, chicken Pad See Ew, chicken satay, Tom Yum, and a side order of white rice. The pad see ewe used a slightly different size noodle compared to the larger noodle, but it was still great. The Tom yum was not the traditional style with chili paste, but again, it was still great. This is a hole in the wall joint. The outside is very unassuming and parking is limited. Inside it is a cute, clean joint filled with old timey music. We were the only people there at 6:30 pm but more people came in after a while. Service was friendly and consistent. We ordered the eggs rolls ($7), Thai lettuce wrap($8), the panang curry($15) and the pad Thai ($15). To start, the appetizers were tasty but small portions for the price. The egg rolls are made in-house. Then we had the panang curry and pad Thai and they were both delicious! I ordered the curry with medium spicy and I would highly recommend that so you get the extra spicy kick. It was a smaller portion than I thought it would be. Most Thai places I've been they serve the curry with a side of rice but this one they served with it on the plate, which reduced the overall amount. I ended up finishing the curry, which I can never do at other Thai restaurants. The pad Thai though was more than enough and was delicious! Overall I would recommend this place because the food is delicious. I give it 4 stars because the food was slow to come out even though we were the only people there at the time and the prices are a little high for the portion size. Overall fun hole in the wall with delicious food! Update: Went back and the food is delicious as always. But when we were there I wanted to sit next to my pregnant wife so I pulled a table over so we could sit side by side. We were then told by the staff that we couldn't do that and they waited by our table for us to move the table back. This was probably by far an unexpected really good Thai food place in El Paso. I was recommended to this restaurant by my friend who lived here. It's a relatively decent sized place. Parking is very limited so carpooling would be recommended. + Food quality was great; good amount of portions for its price and had a variety of dishes that worked for everyone in my group. I got the Panang Curry with no spice and it was really good. It didn't taste that greasy or oily which I usually get from curries so I was very happy eating it. - food service was really slow; we waited for a good 30 minutes at least and felt even more agitated that the other tables who arrived after us got their food before us. Perhaps having more staff members would help because we felt bad for our waitress who was also serving 3-4 other tables by herself. It would be worth it since they do get business. Overall, I'd still come back (if I ever visit El Paso again) but I'd probably ask how long to expect the food to arrive so you're not taken by surprise and wait too long in case you have something to do afterwards. read more

I told the waitress she was nice I told her I did not like it. I have to start this review with my favorite part of this place which is the fact that they can make almost any dish into a vegan or vegetarian one. That was a huge plus for me and couldn't wait to see all the options that opened up to me upon hearing this from the friendly waitress. The curry I had was under Thai Hot but I didn't pick up on any spicy flavor. It was still good and the tofu was way softer than other tofu curry I have had before. Something new to me but I still prefer when it's more cooked. The parking in this place can get a bit packed fast because it's not the biggest. We ordered from Tara Thai with friends earlier this week and chose the pad thai with chicken as our entree. Overall, the dish had a bland, mild peanut flavor and wasn't "saucy" at all. The noodles themselves were pretty colorless and bland as well. The chicken was about average, although the texture was slightly tough. We really like it when there are lots of fresh vegetables, but there was not a ton of chicken or veggies included - mostly bland noodles. This was also the most expensive pad thai we've ever had, which further lowered the value for us. I have been to Tara Thai kitchen one time only and during Luch. The lunch menu has reasonable prices and great dishes, such as Curry Fried Rice,Spring Rolls,Drunken Noodles. The spring roll with the clear rice wrap was very fresh, but not very flavorful, the only flavor came from the peanut sauce, which was okay, but not delicious. The curry fried rice was the most flavorful fem all the dishes we ordered. It is apparent that the plates are cooked to order and they come to the table nice and hot, which is definitely a plus!!
