I have been a customer since they opened and were further up on Mesa. They used to have the most delicious spring rolls, filled with shrimp and crab meat. Their dipping sauce was like no other, light, fresh, spicy but not over powering with hints of lime, chile, fish sauce and rice vinegar. Now it is so watered down that it almost has no taste at all. The spring rolls are mostly rice Noodles and my last order had just one shrimp in the middle. My spring roll fell apart as soon as I picked it up. I also ordered Pad Thai. There were huge chunks of chicken which I needed to cut in order to eat without choking. There were a few small shrimp and no Tofu to be found. They used to top it with green scallions and they were also missing. What was missing most, was flavor. It was barely coated with any sauce so it just tasted like rice noodles. I hate complaining and posting a bad review for what used to be my favorite Thai restaurant, but this is the third time my food was less than appetizing. Last two times I ordered Cashew Chicken, and both times the cashews were so badly burnt that it made the dish inedible. I haven't seen the owner at the restaurant so maybe it's under different management, but I have tried to give it a second and even third chance, but I am done. Today, I visited this café, as I have done for many years. I ordered, as usual, one order of spring rolls with extra vinegar as an appetizer and pad thai to share with my friend. I am always asked if I want one or two spring rolls with the order and I usually split one order with my friend. The waiter, however, brought us two orders of spring rolls. I was about to let him know that this was not what I had requested, but he quickly turned away before I could speak. Although I considered keeping the extra order, I found it unusual since no other waiter had ever misunderstood me before. He had even placed two vinegar containers with each order, which he promised he would charge extra, even though I had clarified that we were splitting the dish, which should have required only one order of two spring rolls. When I finally called him back, I began politely: "There must have been a misunderstanding. I only ordered two spring rolls, not two orders." His response was, in a rude tone, "Fine, I'll take it back." He then raised his voice and scolded me in front of others. As a senior, I felt intimidated and embarrassed. My friend stepped in to ask him to stop, as his manner was unnecessarily harsh given that he had already agreed to take the dish back. Had he explained calmly that the mistake would cost him personally, I would have accepted the extra order out of consideration. Instead, he chose to escalate the situation by threatening to remove both plates--and then did so. My friend followed him to clarify matters with another waiter, who kindly offered to return the correct order to us. However, the original waiter brusquely snatched it from my friend's hands. We asked several times to speak with the manager or owner, but we were told the manager was also the cook and "too busy" to come out and hear our concern. The rudeness and intimidation I experienced during this visit were unacceptable, and I hope steps will be taken to ensure other customers are treated with courtesy and respect. read more

The printed menu in the restaurant is in a strange shorthand with few descriptions, which I think might be because they do a lot of online business; but because we are longtime customers we know what vegan dishes to order. Our picks include yu sang broccoli, ginger tofu, and vegan pad Thai. The dipping sauce for the spring rolls is unique (sweet and bright with vinegar and a dash of red chile). read more

Found this while driving around. It's a very nice small restaurant. Let me tell you it is a real good find. I was honestly shocked how many plates they offer in a small restaurant. Everything we ordered was fantastic! We ordered shrimp rolls and it normally comes with a peanut sauce, however, they have their own special sauce. I gotta say I was pleasantly surprised. The two plates ordered were also fantastic. Spicy cashew shrimp was one of the plates. It was very flavorful and had the right amount of sauce. It was not spicy as i thought it would be. Chicken mushroom was nice and sweet. The mushroom had an amazing taste! Will definitely return to try out more plates. read more

I hate to write anything this negative about any restaurant but this does not live up to its name - it's anything but 'Singaporean'. We drove out of our way thinking it's authentic Singaporean food but we were massively disappointed. The menu sounded so promising: nasi goreng, ayam padas , singapore curry chicken, fish malacca ... the guy on the phone was friendly and helpful. But sadly everything tasted like Panda Express, or worse... because we paid restaurant prices. They also haven't updated their prices online so everything costed more than our order. Lesson learnt- a name is just a name. Well, we are traveling so got a little carried away thinking in the town of El Paso we can get some killer singaporean food. Wrong. read more

Eh. Okay, so I went in here hoping for good Thai food, but won't be back again. I tried the Pineapple Red Curry with just veggies (no tofu, extra veggies). I didn't love the smell in the car, and was surprised at how bland it was when I got home. I added sriracha, but it was of little help. The pineapple is probably canned; it had so little flavor, and then the veggies consisted of those canned bamboo shoots, mini corn cobs (which I do not think exist fresh, just frozen), and broccoli. So, none of it was really fresh, and I actually didn't finish it. The Tom Kha Gai Chicken Soup was okay, just nothing special, and also on the bland side. It definitely requires mixing to get to the flavor on the bottom, with a little lemongrass, and I added some sriracha to it, too. That helped. This dish also had the mini corn cobs, so I threw them out. However, the server was super helpful and friendly and even double-checked I meant to order soup with chicken in it after ordering an entree with just veggies. Parking: came on a Saturday afternoon. Parking doesn't seem to be a problem. Service: really nice and thoughtful. We ordered an appetizer to share and she split it up to two plates for us. Food: This is where it gets confusing. So here's what we ordered. We ordered a spring roll, pad Thai, and Tom yum soup. I've never been so dissatisfied and happy all at the same time. I was passing this past and craving between taco and Thai food. I'm from LA so I guess my standards are higher? The spring roll came out first. It looked like what I can make at home. But it's simple and surprisingly good with the sauce. Next came the pad Thai and the soup. The pad Thai looked as sad as the spring roll. However, despite its looks, it tastes great... but missing that taste of pad Thai. The Tom yum soup tasted good too but missing a little more sweet and a little more spice. The food my husband and I had was excellent. I'm a vegetarian so it's nice to see some options on the menu for me as well. The decor is pretty cute a lot of Asian influence. The only bad thing is that the place is small in size and when we sat down at a small table you can literally hear everyone's conversations. (it was really bad when we went, a party of 7-8 utep volleyball or some athletic team of girls were practically yelling all about at the dinner table quite awful, but thankfully they left sooner than expected). New low for me here, should have gone for some authentic egg rolls from Jack in the box instead. Drink order took 15 minutes longer than other tables that arrived after us. Water takes a while to process, I get it. Appetizer (veggie pan cake) showed up about 10 minutes past well done and landing in the burnt category with some hints of charcoal briquettes. 3 meal orders were made, Pho was tasteless with none of the accoutrements that come with any Pho anywhere, oh and even missing the staples like flavor, bean sprouts, cilantro and flavor. Oh sorry. Cilantro lovers dish showed up with no rice which yes is part of the order, waitress at that point let me know there wasn't any rice for "our" order, it was allocated for other tables per the manager/cook. She did go back to the kitchen and came back to tell me that I could get some rice, and brought me a half bowl of rice which they had to take skim from someone else's order. This was because as the waitress mentioned after the fact, they had run out of rice and noodles! At an Asian food restaurant, at 6pm!! But at least what she did bring was enough for couple of bites of my entree. Not a good at all. Now I ordered pad Thai, the safest dish to order in any Thai Restaurant, except this one. No veggies, just noodles, 4 unpeeled shrimp and some sauce that didn't belong in any self respecting pad Thai. This whole time I can hear behind me the mgr/cook laughing and telling the poor waitress nonsense, definitely not a managers behavior anywhere I've ever been. First off- please note that this is Asain continental food and not specifically Singaporean. But man, this is my favorite restaurant in El Paso. It has been for a decade as it's consistently delicious. Start off with the fresh spring rolls. They're plump and perfect. Singapore Cafe moved to their new location closer to the University. They have more customers than before and you can taste it in their spring rolls! Spring rolls are tender and not rubbery. The curry was really good with flavorful vegetables and chicken. The Singapore pancakes were tasty but a little greasy, hence the 4 stars. Service was attentive and the new place is more homey than their previous location. I recommend it. read more

I agree with Elin, except I would call this restaurant Let's Scam the Unknowing El Paso Diners Cafe. There were a lot of patrons when I went to eat at this restaurant, eating mostly the lunch specials. I was immediately suspicious when I saw the strange mix of dishes on the menu, and the absence of Singaporean staples like lahksa and fish head curry. A Singaporean restaurant without these dishes would be akin to an American BBQ restaurant without ribs and brisket. In order to produce Korean, Chinese, Thai, Singaporean and Indonesian dishes from the same kitchen, of high quality, you would need multiple chefs. I was born in Korea, spent my high school years in Bangkok, lived in Hong Kong for ten years, and visited Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Djakarta many times. I had a Thai iced tea, and what I thought might be the safest dish to order on the menu, nasi goreng, Indonesian fried rice. The iced tea was made with Lipton tea not Thai red tea, and the nasi goreng was almost inedible. There was no sambar, no fried egg, but they added raw bean sprouts and for some unfathomable reason, the rice was sweet. Nasi goreng is probably the simplest dish to make accurately. I can only imagine what they do to the other dishes on their menu. I won't return to this restaurant. read more

It was the first place we saw when we drove from our hotel and we were hungry. But better that we did eat here, because now I get to let you know that if you pass it by, you're probably not missing much. We ordered Thom Kha Gai soup, some salad with chicken (I forget what it was called and I don't see it on the take-out menu that I saved. But it wasn't anything special, so whatevs.), and curry beef. Well, the food was edible. But that's about it. There was not much flavor or spice and it was more American than it was Asian. The Tom Kha Gai soup was very starchy and quite bland. It was ok. The salad, wasn't anything special. Just lettuce, rice noodles, chicken and sauce. The chicken was decent. But Dorit picked most of that out pretty quickly. Haha. The Curry Beef, I'd say was the biggest disappointment. Again, it was edible, but I'd hardly call it curry. There was no spice what-so-ever! The supposed "curry" tasted almost exactly like gravy. Which is ok, but it'd be much better served with mashed potatoes than rice. It was far too American when I was expecting Thai. Service was OK, if you like being called "sir". Which....ah well, whatever. I can live with being called sir. Maybe I'm being a bit harsh by giving this place a 2 (though I'd like to give it a 1), or maybe the food would've tasted better had they served alcohol. :-/ If you're in El Paso, I can't see any reason why you'd want to go here. This place has been around 20 years. Ironically, you won't find many Singaporean dishes; the large menu has a bit of Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, & Malaysian. Lately it's pretty much been hit or miss here, but at least they have a lot of vegetarian & vegan options. They have a separate veg section, but you might still need to specify no egg, no fish sauce. Bu chin gae, Korean pancakes with scallions, are everyone's favorite appetizer, including mine. My favorite dishes are the ginger tofu and the veggie Thaiyaki bowl. The Thaiyaki is the best of both worlds because you get cellophane noodles AND rice! I love that you have the option of white or brown steamed rice here. I went here frequently for two things: the pad thai, and the curry noddles. I've tried their other foods, but most were probably 2-3 star quality, so I always go back to pad thai and curry noodles. The pad thai here tastes better to me overall than any other I've ever had, but the chicken in it is usually hard and dry. I've had several friends try it, and I have not had one not like it. They're also part of the lunch menu, so you can get a slightly smaller serving of pad thai (with soup and egg roll/lumpia) during lunch hours, for under $7. But if you like spicy curry, definitely try the curry noodles. I don't think I went a month without eating it. It has a good kick, and a decent southeastern curry flavor (don't expect Indian/Thai curry). Also, I don't think this is considered a Thai place at all. It seems to me more like a Southeast Asian fusion. So you'll find Vietnamese, Malaysian, Indonesian, Singapore, Thai, and other flavors and dishes. read more

While visiting El Paso for Christmas, we had dinner here. It's a very small location, but a good sized menu with plenty to choose from and fair prices. We were with a bigger group, so we got a variety of things to choose from. Out of the 5 different dishes we got, everything was pretty good. They have massive Spring Rolls there also. The biggest I've ever seen! They were alright. I would prefer a thicker peanut sauce than they had though. I would choose the Pad Thai as the best dish that we tried. The service was ok. It was a Tuesday night, which usually would not be very crowded, but there was a game in town, so the place was pretty filled up. The Pad Thai is amazing and not only that but every single time I come in its the same great service and great food. You have to start with the veggie spring rolls as an appetizer. Was curious to try this cafe. Ordered vegetarian spring roll and pho with chicken. Comparing it to other pho's in town, it fell very flat. The chicken and broth were tasteless. My guest ate some and I only had a couple of spoonfuls. What made it worse was that the waitress didn't ask what might be wrong with the food or if we needed it to go seeing that the bowls were still full when I asked for the check.
