We got seated at the bar and just ordered a few items off the happy hour menu. We ordered the voodoo fried rice, smoked trout dip, and we ordered 16 oysters. The fried rice was great! I love that it was a little spicy. It was a good size of split between the 2 of us. The dip was also pretty good and had a good Smokey flavor. We ordered 16 oysters ($2.50/ea) and got 8 buck & rider, 4 Hama Hama, and 4 Hollywood. They all were really good. I think I liked the buck & rider and Hollywood the most. Service was really quick as we were sitting at the bar so they were pretty attentive. The dishes came out pretty quickly after we ordered. It was a little loud in the restaurant so it was kind of hard to hear each other but that's ok because they were pretty full so that's to be expected.

I was meeting a friend for lunch while in Mesa and I am so ecstatic that I found Steadfast Diner. The diner is quaint and cute. Just big enough for approximately 8-10 people to dine in. There is however, a large patio for outside dining. I had never been in a diner before, so this was a great first experience. I believe one of the owners waited on me and my friend. He was very kind and helpful with making suggestions about the nenu. I orderd the Steadfast Double Smashburger and was not disappointed. This burger was so amazing. I love a good grass-fed smashburger and this hit the spot. Hot off the grill and perfectly cooked, I ate it slowly just to savor the flavors. The bun was very soft and light. All the toppings were fresh and amped this burger up. I ordered a side of onion rings which were crispy crunchy good. I could tell these were homemade and not the frozen kind. I live approximately 30 miles away, but for this farm-to-table goodness, I will make it my personal goal to frequent this diner to try more off the menu.

A Hidden Gem You NEED to Try - Don't Let This Place Stay a Secret!…read moreI've been to Sage & Barrel Craft Eatery a few times now, and every visit leaves me wondering why this place isn't packed every single night. We stopped in on a Monday evening and had the whole vibe almost to ourselves--such a shame because this spot is seriously awesome and deserves a full house! The atmosphere is so vibey--warm, inviting, perfectly lit with that perfect mix of casual and upscale that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. It feels special without being stuffy, great for date nights, family dinners, or just unwinding with friends over craft beers (their selection is impressive--40+ local options with plenty on tap). But the real star? The food. Everything is scratch-made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and you can taste the care in every bite. Deeply flavorful, innovative twists on classics, generous portions, and consistently excellent. Whether you go for the Nashville hot chicken and waffles, fish & chips, burgers, or whatever catches your eye, it's all done right. No frozen junk here--just real, delicious food that keeps you coming back. Queen Creek (and the East Valley) needs more places like this. Support local, support quality, and help keep this gem thriving so it doesn't disappear. We'll definitely be back--next time on a busier night so more people can discover it! If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and go. Tell your friends. Mondays (and every night) deserve Sage & Barrel. You won't regret it.

There was no smile, greeting, or sense that we were happy to be there. Our server was very nice personally, but the service was incredibly disorganized. What made it even more frustrating was that she only had two tables, and the restaurant was not busy. My husband's meal never came out, and she did not even notice that he was still waiting for it. While we were waiting for his food, she brought us a drink we had never ordered. She also filled my kids' lemonades with water. The food was just as disappointing. The salmon was extremely dry and hard, and the pasta noodles my kids ordered were hard as well. After waiting and realizing my husband's meal was never coming, we asked for the bill. At that point, our server actually asked if my husband was ready to order... even though he had already ordered and had been waiting for his meal the entire time. Our bill ended up being high, which made the experience even more frustrating because we spent that much money and left feeling like we received essentially nothing worth coming back for. We all left hungry. Mistakes happen, but this was not one small mistake. It was a series of issues with the service, drinks, food, and basic attentiveness, especially considering the restaurant was not busy. For the amount we paid, we expected a completely different experience. Unfortunately, we will not be back.

There were 5 -6 people serving and it was mildly busy. We didn't see our server to ask if we would like another drink until after we waited so long they realized our food had been delivered to another table by accident. (I understand honest mistake). We asked for 1/2 & 1/2 meat on our nachos (not an upsize). And were charged $6 extra. Which we were unaware of the up charge until the final bill arrived. It was then explained,"we don't do 1/2 & 1/2 meat". If that were explained at the time of ordering we would have had the option to change to avoid the up charge. Eating out is a luxury and quality service is part of that enjoyment experience. We left disappointed. Bathroom cabinets have fallen apart and are missing doors. Trash was running over.
