On April 18 I called Pohanka Service to see what the wait time would be for a St. Inspection and a wheel alignment. They said 3 hours but when I arrived 20 min later I was told 24 - 48 hrs. It was 9:15 a.m. They got me a ride home. I called them the next day and they read a laundry list of items that I needed to have fixed to the tune of $6900 and $3500 if I only wanted to fix the State inspection items. NO WAY! Took my car elsewhere, only paid $1800 to fix the items NEEDED and that included a wheel alignment that I asked for! I can promise you I will NEVER go back to Pohanka Service for anything! I've been a customer for 26 years and this was the worst experience I've ever had. BTW my car is a 2020 Chevy Blazer with 30,000 miles. read more

About a month ago, I purchased a 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV because of the Federal Tax credit and Costco discount. I had previously visited Pohanka Chevrolet while look for another car, and after visiting several dealerships, I can confidently say this location is by far the most attentive and genuinely eager to help customers. From the very beginning of the buying process to the end, Jhony took care of everything I needed. He never said "no" to my requests, was always polite, honest, and truly went above and beyond to assist me. Jhony is a genuine and sincere person, and I highly recommend working with him. If you visit Pohanka Chevrolet and buy a car with Jhony's help, you'll understand exactly what I mean. Thank you again to the entire Pohanka Chevrolet team for making my car-buying experience so smooth. As for the Equinox EV itself: if you're considering an electric vehicle, I recommend making sure you can charge it at home or at work, since public charging can be expensive. For daily life and short commutes, it's an excellent choice. Keep in mind that EVs are not recommended to be charged to 100%--80% is usually ideal, and it's best to recharge once you're around 15-20% rather than going lower. These are important factors to consider when buying an EV. One suggestion I have for Chevrolet is to provide free adapters so their EVs can use Tesla charging stations. I believe this service will be available soon, and it would make a great difference for EV owners. read more

Buying a car might be easy at Pohanka Chevrolet--if you believe everything you're told by the salespeople, sales manager, and even the GM. Unfortunately, what they promise and what actually happens are two very different things. When I read their Yelp description, I honestly laughed and cried. They claim to offer a "fast, friendly, and focused on you" car-buying experience--but my experience was more like "fast, misleading, and completely lacking follow-through." Here are just a few of the empty promises I received: "We'll transfer your tags and extend temporary tags if needed--no problem." Weeks later, still waiting. No updates. No action. "You get lifetime inspections in VA or MD, and we'll even pick up and return your car for inspection." Sounded great... until it came time to follow through. Then nothing until we insisted on talking to the GM, who offered to pay for a single Maryland inspection. I sent the receipt. Still waiting on that too. "I'll have my guys check into the issue with the stereo system"; and never heard back. Bottom line: They'll say whatever it takes to close the sale, but once the papers are signed, good luck getting anyone to honor those promises. I strongly recommend getting everything in writing, or better yet, avoiding this dealership altogether. Meanwhile my car is siting in the driveway without any way to drive it legally while making payments and keeping insurance on it. Please learn from our mistake and buy your next car somewhere else. read more

I feel what was recommended may have been well past due, but was not what was causing the problem with the car. The car service department is the worst! They have had our car for 6 weeks (4 & 2) and still haven't fixed it. None of the customer service people remember any of the orders put in. They never returned calls or updated the status of the car. When we called, they never remembered what they were working on and never ordered the part (s). What a terrible experience I had with Pohanka Chevrolet. They are what I would say "shady used car salesmen". I was purchasing a vehicle from them and since I was out of state I had an independent company inspect the vehicle for me since I could not see it in person. I loved the car and was going to purchase it. I was ASURED that they were holding the car for me to complete my due diligence on my purchase. Long story short.... they sold the car from under me. I was, of course, very disappointed and upset that they went back on their word. When I questioned then why they did not take a deposit from me, I was told that it was "illegal" in VA to take a deposit. Lie. When I told them that I wanted to give them a poor review, to calm me down they offered to cover my expense on the inspection that I paid for and send me a $300 check. They said it was going to be sent out IMMEDIATELY.. The general manager called me and assured me that to make it right they were sending it to me right away.. I never received it! So I am warning you to be careful with them!! read more

I dropped my vehicle off at 5:30pm. I didn't get a call and it was 10am the next morning so I called for an update. I was told that nobody was ever assigned to work on my vehicle and that my service advisor Zach would not be in until the afternoon. I was told that he would call me later today to give me an update. So I asked how there would be an update if nobody was even working on my car. Then the person I was speaking with said that I could call the service manager but that it would just go to voice mail. I couldn't believe that this was the answer I was given. I went and picked up my vehicle and don't plan to go back here. read more

3 weeks ago we had our car serviced, one of the issues was the bumper needed repaired. When my Husband picked up the car, they failed to do half of the service requests and didn't fix the bumper. My Husband dropped the car off again on a Wednesday night before a trip we were leaving for. He attempted to reach them all day Sunday with no reply on the status of our car. It's Monday night and after 40min on the phone, no one seems to know anything about the status of our vehicle or when it would be done. They also don't have a loaner to provide us - we only have one car and need to get our child to school. I have never had such an awful experience with a service department. I suggest you avoid them at all cost if you plan on having timely or quality service or if you intend on them being able to communicate the status of your repairs. read more
