Mignon and the Yukon mashed potatoes in the ribeye with Yukon, mashed potatoes and the seasonal vegetables 10/10

10/10 recommend, my favorite fancy restaurant in La Crosse. Wish they had a side of mac and cheese. They have my favorite steak and mashed potatoes around. Couple dinner no apps around $100 before tip. Server was great and kept checking in on us.

Great food at this restaurant. I come from New York City, and the flavors are out of this world. I would highly recommend this place the ambiance and the staff are great. I would recommend this place for everybody who wants to really come to a place to taste great flavor of food.

Beautiful restaurant, excellent dining experience. Delicious food and outstanding staff.

I had the absolute BEST service I've had at a restaurant in what seems like forever. From the very first interaction, when I called to see if I needed a reservation or if it was too busy to dine alone and if I should just order pickup, the hostess was so kind and friendly. I arrived and she even greeted me by my name which she had asked for on the phone. All staff, including my server (Ken- who was phenomenal!) to the other couple of servers who brought my food and/or checked on me....everything about the meal and experience was simply the best!! I will definitely be back and have already told all of my friends on Facebook to be sure to dine here whenever they're in the La Crosse area. The food, ambience, music, outstanding care from your staff, all of it....was just what I needed after a long three days of driving hundreds of miles around the northwestern part of our state for work. Thank you!!

I went to Pogreba for lunch with colleagues. Atmosphere: I have to admit, I was positively impressed by the renovation and interior update that Pogreba has done. It is tastefully done with good attention to detail and it has a custom feel and uniqueness to it. The main dining area isn't huge but it has very tall ceilings, which give it a very open and airy feel. Food: Having only eaten at Pogreba once, I can't give you a long term prognosis but can say that my experience was positive. I had the bacon wrapped cheese curds as an appetizer and the BSLT (Baconsteak Lettuce Tomato) Sandwich. When I think of bacon wrapped cheese curds, I think of greasy state fair type food. However, this was not the case, they were not overly greasy and I loved them. They were done perfectly and were served with a dipping sauce that complimented them well. The BSLT was also a pleasant surprise. The bacon in this sandwich is literally over half an inch thick (hence the baconsteak name). Being a BLT lover, I found their variation of the sandwich to be excellent. Service: The greeter at the entrance was very professional and cordial. She sat us immediately and also asked us how everything was upon our departure. The waiter was acceptable - I felt like he didn't quite know the menu yet - perhaps he was new - but he came to check in on us frequently. I look forward to going back to Pogreba to try some of the offerings in their dinner menu. It seems they have taken many standard midwestern dishes and put their own interesting and upscale spin on them. The result from my first experience was an pleasant surprise - I hope they can keep the quality in the long run.

Perfect meal, perfect service, best steaks in LaCrosse. Perfectly grilled with a nice crusty sear.

The food and atmosphere is fantastic. What is probably the best, though, is the friendly service. Dewey has awesome personality!

While not always on the menu, ask for a raspberry lemon drop and you won't regret it. The BEST one I've ever had. I will be begging the bartenders to teach me their ways before they close their doors. This is our top choice in town to celebrate accomplishments and achievements. The tavern and patio offer a more casual ambiance, while the restaurant itself is chic and has an element of more formality. The staff is always ALWAYS incredible and thoughtful. The food is always on point, interesting, and flavorful. This place will be well-missed come March, but I know I will be back here plenty in the mean time to get my fill and and support this staff before then.

We were so fortunate that they were able to seat us on the outdoor patio facing the water. This restaurant isn't just great for the views--the food and drinks here were phenomenal as well. Our appetizers of beer-battered cheese curds and mussels were so flavorful and hit the spot. We also loved our fish tacos and linguini with scallops (I absolutely loved the crushed red pepper that came with it too!). Our food all paired nicely with their extensive cocktail/drinks menu, which included many different breweries and distilleries. This is one of those restaurants you'll remember visiting forever--definitely come visit if you can!

We even checked their online menu and made reservations only to arrive with a whole new menu to look at. They're no longer serving prime or smoked back ribs. A lot of customers were disappointed when they were given the new menu. We stuck it out and got our usual appetizer (stuffed mushrooms - a lot meatier than before. No complaints!) My husband got the smoked sampler (pork chop, pulled pork and burnt ends) , that was alright. Sauce was a bit too sweet for us. Pork chop was cooked to perfection! Kudos to that! I got the crusted salmon - which was disappointing because it was over cooked and soggy with no seasoning. Our side veggies were under cooked and not seasoned at all. We did get the cheddar potatoe soup. It wasn't what it used to be - lacked cheddar so it was just more so potatoe soup. My waitress forgot my baked potatoe but i was too full from disappointment that i didn't bother to ask for it. Service was good. It was a steady crowd. Not too busy. Just wished the goodies from the old menu stayed.

I ordered the ribeye since it came with a soup or salad ANNNNDDD potatoes or veggies. I opted for the French onion soup and some veggies. Holy moly, the cheese on that soup is no joke! It was a delicious soup but it did lack in onions (maybe because it was a small bowl that none got scooped up into it?). I ordered my ribeye medium rare and it came a perfect medium rare. The ribeye itself was of the thinner variety so don't expect a thick steakhouse ribeye. It was still really good though especially because it was so much food for under $30! The turtle cheesecake was TO DIE FOR! Ughhhh I'm a sucker for some caramel and chocolate in a cheesecake. I wish I lived here because I would be a regular for sure.

The pork chops were dry, zero juice, zero flavor and tough. Perhaps they are made in big batches and stuck under a lamp? I tried three times to cut them with a knife, I finally gave up and tore a piece off. I tried to chew it. The asparagus was long pieces that looked nice in presentation. The problem was it was almost all stalk. I couldn't cut that either. I picked that up with my fingers the top stems (the tender edible tops) as well. I was hungry. What a mess. The cook tossed a bake potato and it was not even sliced into. I turned and put the entire plate at the table behind me. The kids meal was huge. 5 good chicken strips and half a plate of undercooked french fries. To be fair, my foster granddaughter was not sitting still. We walked around to hold her attention, just in time to hear trouble behind the bar. One server refusing to break an egg behind the bar, repeating herself 3 times in a negative tone, saying she would bring it from home. I view that as tacky, I was a customer within earshot. My family did not complain about their food. They got boxes for leftovers. My son's girlfriend offered to box mine. I took it home, to be courteous, but had to throw it away. They apologized after we left as it was a terrible choice for Mother's Day. I highly doubt that anyone will read this post, I'm not sure if anyone cares. The Hungry Peddler is the last on my list for dining out.
