PODS placed a container in front of my residence at the request of one of my neighbors and the company is unwilling to remove the container. A representative from the City of Los Angeles informs me that PODS containers are only allowed to be on private property. When I called PODS the first time, I hung up after 20 minutes because nobody came to the line. I have posted this every place I could think of so this is the short and ugly version. I was overcharged, charged too early, the pickup of the pod was late. They didnt have any records of some of our conversations. The customer service dept was extremely rude and all but call my wife an idiot for asking questions. The pod was supposed to be roughly 2000$ and it was closer to 3000$. After inspecting our belongings there was evidence of mice in the pod. I talked to everyone even the local supervisor and even he couldn't get through to them and they denied my refund and lied about the delivery and pick up dates. The only thing they had going for them was the drivers and the supervisor here in Knoxville. Don't waste your money here because they will waste it for you. read more

I gave them a single star because I couldn't give them less. They will nickel and dime you and then screw you over if they get the chance. Called well in advance to have my empty POD picked up before I was charged another month. Of course, they claimed they couldn't pick it up until the day after which would allow them to charge me another month. I've been disputing this for months and now they've sent me to a collection agency. Customer service is terrible. They just keep passing the buck and never resolve anything. read more

OUR POD WAS PUT ON A PUBLIC STREET OVERNIGHT We contracted PODs for our move. Our move required us to store our items with POD for several months. When we called to have our POD delivered, the employees put our POD out on the streets of San Jose for easy access the next day (unbeknownst to us). On the day of delivery, three days later, we were informed that the POD had been broken into (the employees when they found the items thrown all over the street just threw items back in and filed a police report). Trying to be civil we went through PODs claims process asking to be reimbursed for items stolen (over $20,000) and refunded any money we had paid them for their services (we paid them over $7,000). When we received PODs offer it barely covered a 1/4 of the monies we had paid them for their services none the less for items lost. Please do not use this service! PODs claims no responsibility for anything they do. While I know I was only one in probably hundreds this happen to, do you want to be that one? PODs has hundreds of terrible reviews on their responsiveness, but I saw nothing about PODs getting broken into. Obviously some major incompetence going on at this company. There are to many other similar services out there who will back up their services, and not take any chances with your personal items, to use PODs. read more

Honestly it doesn't even deserve the one star. False advertising really makes me upset. $500 for a cross country move... Too bad that doesn't include the over 1000 in fees just to return the pod once you get there. It's literally 2.5 times as much to return the pod as it is to rent it and have it shipped. If only Zero was a possible rating! POD GROUND STAFF was punctual, professional & polite. July 19, 2017 they collected my 83 yr old mothers belongings in Long Beach, CA for scheduled delivery 85 miles away in San Diego by 7/24. 2 months later we have not had access to her belongings, They cannot tell us where her POD is and have mislead or lied repeatedly about their promised delivery dates which they update on line without a call, text or email. At least six employees at Customer service including supervisors have failed to call back with update as promised over the past 2 weeks. If they are not criminally negligent they are cruelly indifferent to the stress, cost and inconvenience of an 83 year old woman's life as she awaits her move to assisted living and scheduling a hip operation with no more than a weeks worth of clothes & none of her furnishings, family pictures or other personal belongings. Shame on POD if you have lost these belongings and don't have the integrity to admit it & make it right! read more

If you value your belongings, think twice before renting a PODS unit! I ordered a 16' PODS unit for a client who needed to move part of the contents of her home to another state where they were to be stored for several months. Most of the contents were quite valuable and required a storage unit that would keep them safe from the elements and secure during transport. I saw a video of a unit on their website showing a plywood-lined container that appeared to be sturdy enough based on the information supplied. Our packers required tie-downs on the interior walls, so I called a PODS customer service agent who told me their 16' units, indeed, did have tie-downs every 4'. When the POD arrived it didn't look anything like the unit pictured in their video. Instead of the metal "skin" as advertised, it was constructed entirely of molded plastic with metal framework. It actually looked more like a GIANT PORT-A-POTTY! There were no plywood-lined walls inside and, worst of all, NO TIE-DOWNS! The unit did have a plywood floor. However, it was soaked at both ends where water had seeped through unsealed openings. When I looked up at what was basically a lid on top of the unit, I could see gaps all the way around where sealant strips had come loose, allowing water, dust and pests uncontrolled entry into the unit. We told the driver immediately that the unit was not acceptable but he left it to be picked up later. We asked for a total refund but were only refunded the cost of transport and storage. My client ended up having to pay over $500 for having a faulty product which she could not and did not use, despite our legitimate protests. PODS products and services are vastly over-priced for what you get (or in our case what you don't get!). They might be suitable if you need to store some unimportant stuff on your property for a few days while you remodel the house or for a one-day move. But in the long run, they are expensive, undependable and lightweight. To get any kind of stability at all, the unit has to be FULLY packed with furniture and belongings. (You may have a mild heart attack when you see how they lift your packed container on and off the truck bed!) We got much better results by renting a Penske box truck and using reliable packers and drivers to transport my client's property to a self-storage unit in her new hometown. The cost was SIGNIFICANTLY LESS and everything arrived safely without damage. BOTTOM LINE...a very bad experience I wouldn't want anyone else to have! Oh, and did I mention the tricky game the customer service agents play with the rates??? That was a delightful ordeal, too! read more

By far the worst moving experience in my life. False promises and unprofessional employees. Issues: 1) Driver shows up to deliver POD. Asks if I have a city permit for him to place the POD. Not once was this suggested that I should look into getting a permit to place a POD. I would expect, oh you know, the POD company to at least mention that when I booked it. Thankfully the nice lady at the city office was able to expedite our request. 2) POD was picked up a day before scheduled. I called to get it redelivered so that I could finish packing. Was told by the call center that it would be redelivered the next morning. The next morning came and went, no POD was redelivered. Called the center to ask when it would show up and was told the POD was already on its way across the country and there was nothing they can do. Had to sell my bed, TVs and anything else we didn't get into the POD. 3) My GF called to find out if the POD could be resent back to Chicago. Gentleman at the PODS support center had her repeat words because he though her accent was cute. This is beyond inappropriate in any circumstance, especially when she expresses her displeasure but he continues to do it. I do not know what type of sexist pigs they hire there. 4) A few months go by and I call to have POD delivered to my new address. Was told there are no options to have POD delivered one day and picked up the next (regardless of the amount of advanced notice we give). The closest they can have it dropped off and re picked up is a 4 day window. This is unacceptable when I live in an apartment. I can't have a POD sitting on the curb for 4+ days. I was willing to have it delivered anytime in the next month as long as they could pick it up 24-48 hours after delivering. They would not do this. After begging and pleading they are having it delivered on a Tuesday and picked up on a Friday with a "special" request to the service center to see if they can pick it up on Wednesday. I fully expect them not to come through and I having to deal with fines from my landlord. If I had to do this over again, I would GLADLY pay 3-4 times the cost to have someone other then PODS to deal with. I would rather sell everything I own on craigslist rather then moving with PODS again. They made the move insurmountably more difficult and stressfull. read more

My advice is "buyer beware". I thought I did a great job of giving myself plenty of time to prepare. I called and spoke to a service rep a month out from my move. I explained my circumstances exactly, to the point of asking the rep to look at a satellite view of the drop off location to make sure the pod could be put there. 'Yes' the rep stated, 'that parking spot is perfect.' Drop off day comes and the driver does a courtesy call when he is an hour out and advises that he needs two spots. I do not have control of two spots. Had I known that up front, I could arranged for two spots no problem. So he tells me that he can't drop it off. I say ok and hang up. I call PODS and I now have to reschedule my Pod drop off for a different day, because I 'cancelled' the drop off. I was also advise that this was my fault for not reading my contract. (The customer service rep's words) I did read my contract, but I relied on my initial customer service rep that the parking spot was good. Long story short, I got tired of going around and around with the customer service rep, so I asked to speak to a supervisor. That was a joke! The rep could not put a supervisor on, but she did relay my conversation to the supervisor and advised me of what the supervisor was saying. In the end, I HAD to reschedule and because I demanded a discount for my time, (BTW I wasted an hour (plus) on the phone) I received a $25.00 discount for my inconvenience. I did finally get my POD, but I had less time to pack it due to this mistake, so the convenience of a POD ended up not being as convenient as I hoped when I purchased the POD. If I had to move again, I would hire a moving company. I hear Bellhops is really good, My sister used them after she saw what I went through. At least I was able to stop one person from making the same mistake I made. Save yourself the hassle, don't even bother with the PODS company. read more

I can't warn you off in strong enough terms. I should have known better when i experienced their comfort with loose language when was told i would have "unlimited access" to my belongings, when i already knew they weren't open on Sat's and Sun's, and i could have access only after 24 hours notice. I have not had this company move my belongings other than from my home into their storage, so i cannot speak to their moving and delivery service. Delivery of the Pod to my home was on time, and pick up from my home was on time; both services provided by capable and friendly guys. However, as someone who needs occasional access to my belongings, the service has been terrible. Of the five times i have called 24 hours before needed access, and had my appointment confirmed, only once has my Pod been in the yard, requiring my waiting up to twenty minutes when i should have been able to have access when i drove onto the yard. This morning i called for access for tomorrow, and was told that they now require a 72 hour lead time. They have my email address so two strikes against them - one, for LOWERING customer service, making it more difficult to access your belongings and, two, NOT emailing me this new policy. When i pointed out that they made an agreement with me based on a 24 hour lead time, they then told me they would make my Pod available tomorrow only if the particular yard did not already have 4 previous requests for tomorrow, as they now have a 4 container per yard limit for any given day. This must be another new policy - also not communicated - because i have seen many Pods made available on a given day on my previous trips to the yard. Finally, i asked for the next possible access and was given an appointment for this coming Sat. I experienced a short moment of delight learning that they are now open on Sat's, until the service rep came back on the line telling me they are not open on Sat's. I was then told that perhaps they can make my Pod available tomorrow after all, but to call later today to find out. I can't imagine why they cannot email or call me to tell me. Finally, i asked to confirm the hours my Pod is accessible, and the rep could not answer the question. I finally asked to speak with her supervisor to lodge an overall complaint. I was transfered to a customer service rep who came on the line talking really fast, then went on to describe to me why i was calling them - half of the information was wrong. I stopped her and suggested that she let me speak, instead of continuing on with wrong information. I would think that true customer service training would include allowing the customer time to speak first. It took awhile to explain what my issues were instead of the misconceived issues she was trying to address. At the end, I asked her for access hours, she could not answer the question either. In my conversation with both representatives of the company, both mentioned that this was their "busy season." I have requested access to my Pod at all seasons, and have been given that same line. My assessment is that they MUST be understaffed and poorly organized, AND are prepared to give only a minimum of customer service once they have your contract, belongings, and money, instead of running an ethical service. I look forward to removing my belongings from their keep, and certainly will never use their service again - for which i am paying a premium amount on a monthly basis. read more

I made my booking a full month in advance, but after my stuff was loaded and ready to go (after a lot of mishaps with delivery times and dates), I was told they didn't SERVE THE ZIP CODE I HAD REQUESTED! Whaaaa?! Had I known I never would have booked with them. Even though I was assigned a customer care rep to handle my case, getting in touch with her wasn't easy, and the transaction on the delivery end still had problems. No matter if I called or chatted online directions for POD placement was not followed, the drivers would call and one had a terrible attitude because he put in the wrong address to find the location. I had 2 PODS delivered and both had doors that wouldn't open properly. I moved to a brand new construction home built and the PODS delivery, because the wood piece on the bottom was not properly secure damaged my brand new paver driveway! The icing on the cake-2 months after having to deal with this company (in November) I get a bill for service from April! When I pulled all my PAID invoices and compared them to the invoices they had in their system, the representative (who sounded like she was 12 years old) said "there was a glitch in the system and the invoice doesn't appear." That was her response-that I was suppose to magically accept a bill that was never there from 7 months ago. All my invoices and payments match with a big PAID checkmark and now they generate a November bill when I was done with this company back in September. Disgusted! read more

I used PODS for my family's move from Wisconsin to Florida, and it seemed to be the best option considering we needed to store our belongings for ~2 months prior to moving in to our new home. The experience was okay, I would not use them again unless they change their policy on prorating for monthly storage. This was the main point of contention I have and believe PODS should look at revising in their agreements. PODS does not currently prorate for monthly storage fees, so when our POD was delivered on day 2 of the month because that was the soonest it could arrive by PODS, we had to pay an additional $289.94 that was extremely unnecessary. We also received the run around when calling in to customer service to get our POD delivered to us in Florida, and were told different dates of delivery from two different people that led to a delay in our POD arriving. read more

I absolutely appreciate the idea of PODS and what they are trying to do but I had a completely AWFUL experience with this company. I used PODS to pack up my apartment early while we packed up my fiance's apartment so that we could move about five minutes away. I figured it would be a good idea to have the extra time to move my stuff out so I used a pod to give myself that time (plus we were unsure of when we would have the new apartment and my apartment was not being used so I did not want to pay rent any longer than necessary). Bad idea. First, when I originally ordered the pod, it was online and they were not clear AT ALL about the payment process. I ordered a pod to be delivered and possibly kept for up to a month and then picked up and delivered five minutes away to the new location. In my e-mail confirmation after ordering the pod, it said it would be around $200 and I felt like that was definitely worth it. I had never used pods before so when my pod arrived at my old apartment, I approached the driver to ask questions. I asked him how the process works for the pod to be picked up. He seemed to not want to answer my questions at all (probably in a rush) and said "just call us the day you want it picked up and we will come out". That seemed a little far fetched so I called the day before I wanted it picked up. They had no availability for 4 days. So, I took it because I needed the closest date even though it was a Tuesday (a work day for me). While on the phone with the customer service woman who I scheduled it for, I gave her my new address, my apartment number and explained EXACTLY where the pod needed to go. I spent a LOT of time doing this because I knew I may not be able to be there and asked her more than once if she was writing it down to which she said yes. The day before my delivery, I got an email confirmation at 6:00pm saying that my pod was estimated to be delivered between 7:30am and 10:30am. RIGHT IN THE EMAIL, it said "for your convenience, we DO NOT need you to be present for the delivery." I wasn't because I was working. The driver called me multiple times between 6:45am and 7:15am leaving voicemails which were not friendly saying "I need to know where to put this!" Then customer service left a message. When I got home at noon, I called back frantically as I was worried it was not dropped off at all and I had gotten people to come help me unload it. The woman I spoke to stated that "we do ask that you are home for your delivery" which is not true at all; and told me that it was written in the notes that it was being delivered to my address "third floor" with no other details. So, everything I had said to the woman who scheduled it just was not in the notes at all and the driver had no clue where to put it. Luckily, somebody who worked in the office at my new building guided him on where to go so he dropped it (a little far away) but in close enough distance to unload it. Aside from the terrible customer service, I found out that to have my pod picked up (even earlier than a month) and moved five minutes away, it was another $130. Then just to have it picked up, it was ANOTHER $90. That made this whole ordeal a total of $420. Four hundred and twenty dollars of nothing but stress and terrible service.. I have never written a bad review in my life but I have never been more disappointed by a company. I am sorry for the novel but I needed to put this out there! read more

DON'T get a POD! They have a giant contraption called the podzilla that drops the POD on your driveway or wherever you choose to position it. Both times the podzilla damaged my property. The drivers don't seem to really know how to maneuver this machine. The first time I let it go, because it was just a broken sprinkler, but the second time it was bad enough to file an incident report and seek reimbursement. They rejected my $150 claim and their customer service was terrible, unsympathetic and unresponsive. I know, it's only $150 but it's the principle of the matter. It would have been easy for this company to make it right and have a repeat customer, yet after they completed a half-assed investigation they told me they did nothing wrong, then reminded me I accepted liability in my contract and offered me $75 as a "good faith compromise." No, what I *accepted* was a driver who knew what he or she was doing and if not, a company that would take care of it. I would hate to see what other damage other people are getting stuck with! read more

PODS told me they were going to deliver the POD to Wilmington DE and it would be delivered within a couple days of when I call to have it delivered. They did not deliver it to Wilmington DE. Instead they kept it in the South and it took 11 days and many phone calls to get it delivered to where it needed to be. I would not use this company again. I moved across the country. On the receiving end, there was an archway. I provided pictures, dimensions and a detailed description of the driveway. I was assured there would not be a problem backing the "Podzilla" down the driveway. When the driver arrived, he told me he "was not allowed to move a full pod because he might blow a tire." When I went to call Pods, he dumped the pod at the end of the driveway and left. Pods supported the driver. Apparently the drive has full discretion as to where the pod is dumped. The problem is that I had explained the situation prior to booking with Pods. It was a bait and switch. The customer service woman was rude and no help. We were rather concerned by the negative reviews posted but discovered that PODS' competitors also had an abundance of negative grades. So we decided to contract with PODS for a move from Jacksonville, Florida to New Jersey (small unit - 1 bedroom apartment). The experience was very positive. The contract and billing were clear with no problems. The delivery and transport were very smooth and on time. After receiving the 3 hour window, the driver called to tell us he was on his way. A nice courtesy. The final delivery was handled in the same professional manner. We had a problem getting the door open after final delivery because some shifting had occurred, PODS arranged a service call for the next day to resolve the problem at no charge. In all, a 5 star rating. read more

DO NOT USE PODS!!!!!!!!!! They started off by taking 3 payments from my credit card in one month. Now - they seem to be refusing to ship my container. I have called twice to schedule the POD to be shipped and twice - they simply "lose" the order. The second call - they quoted me $300 more than the original quote!!!!! PODS initial customer service was great, made me feel at ease, seemed organized, and made me believe it was the best way to move our stuff cross country. The POD drop off was right on time. Nothing amiss, until the day if pick up..... crickets. I called customer service that the driver had not arrived 3 hours after the end time of the pick up, and they could offer to do nothing but call the local dispatch center, which of course, wouldn't answer calls or emails. They told me to just wait until the evening, but as of now, no driver. No call. No communication whatsoever. I'm VERY nervous bc our dates and pod arrival are meticulously set up, and there is no room for delays or missed pick ups. At this point I don't know what to do, and customer service has basically said they can only wait to hopefully hear from local driver. We're moving out of our house and we can't leave the POD here for our buyer to deal with. HELP! read more

My experience with PODS was horrible and stressful. The container was dropped off, we loaded it and it was picked up as scheduled. I was moving out of state and was quoted a delivery window that was 2 weeks out. One week after it was picked up, I called to get an exact delivery date and at that time they said it was going to be another 3 weeks. The extra week put me into another month and extra charge from PODS. The worst part of my POD experience was the delivery to my new residence. I made certain that there was a place to drop it off. The driver was difficult and argued that he couldn't drop it next to the curb. He wanted to drop it at the loading dock but the apartment wouldn't allow it because other deliveries were being made. After 45 minutes of standing in the hot sun and looking for alternative spots (2 blocks away) we stayed with the original plan and placed orange cones around the edge that was sticking out into the traffic lane approximately 18 inches. It was dangerous and not necessary. The other day, I passed a POD that was dropped off in the exact same location EXCEPT it was placed an inch from the curb and NOT in the street!!! read more

I wish I had read reviews before using PODS. Seriously the worst customer service I have ever experienced. We ordered a POD for same day drop off and move to new location. The drop off window was quoted for 7:30-9:30am. The pick up window was quoted for 3:30-5:30 the same day. In the period in between, we needed to load the POD with the contents of a full garage. POD gets dropped off at 9:45am. No big deal - just outside the later end of the drop off window so we got a late start on loading. But then it was picked up at 2pm and we weren't even close to done loading it! Apparently these windows are for "convenience" only. Whose convenience? Certainly not the customer's since they can't be counted on. Since the half full POD was moved to our new location, we had to make multiple trips with a van to get the rest of our stuff relocated. Then we arrive to the new location to see that the POD was left on the slanted part of our driveway - meaning all of the contents inside had slid down to the door of the POD rendering the POD essentially useless. Had they pulled the POD forward 10 more feet it would have been on level ground. After 65 minutes on hold with various customer service reps, I am told it will be $90 for them to come pull the POD forward so it could sit on flat ground. I told them we had cabinets being delivered the next morning and then said they would send the driver out first thing in the morning to move it. I asked - what time is "first thing"? They said 7am. Good, I thought, since the cabinet delivery window was 9-11am. Guess what? 7am came and went! Did PODs meet their time quote? NO! Did the cabinet delivery company? YES! What did that mean for me? I got angry call from the cabinet company that the POD was on a slant with all contents slid forward - leaving no space for cabinets - and it was not the cabinet company's job to move the POD or the contents inside to make room. Another 45 minutes on hold with the PODS customer service team. What did they offer me? A $25 credit to my account! The POD has been useless! It was transferred half full on the delivery day because they came to pick it up way too early! A total joke of a company. DO NOT USE! read more

So, we are remodeling this Thursday and Friday and I called up the POD Company to schedule a delivery. Got the email and voicemail messages etc. The POD was scheduled for Monday, 7/23 between 12:15-3:15pm. Get a call at 4pm on Monday saying that they have to CANCEL!! and they can't deliver until next MONDAY 7/30--so I canceled it a little late! WTH? Really? I will never recommend this company!! So now what? Yup...storage in the garage after we had to clean it to put our stuff in. I am reading some similar reviews. This Company is a joke! read more

STAY AWAY! I put my house into PODS storage until we found a new home. Getting them to redeliver my 3 PODS was a nightmare. Their website scheduling kept deleted my request. I finally called and spoke to a live representative to schedule my redelivery and it never was sent to the local office so my PODS didn't get delivered. Had to cancel movers and reschedule for a 4th time. Have my fingers crossed that they will actually redeliver my PODS this time! read more

Overcharged us for delivery. Also, after 5 days into month they will NOT prorate because you have to pay for FULL month storage. Furthermore, if they come back out to move POD because they placed it in wrong area or because of inclement weather, they will charge a $125 moving fee. Please do Not Ever use pods for moving or storage!! Horrible service, lost pods, delivery to the wrong state, zero communication, billing errors, oh...we forgot this form you need to sign and then we can try and locate your pod. Seriously??!! The service for the POD was good by the boys delivering and picking up. But there accounting team are incompetent over charged. Never took me off direct deposit 4 phone calls a month later still waiting for refund. Each time i have called they have promised it would be in the bank next day all two,never happened.Still waiting Will never use them again. read more

My experience with PODS started off great, but went very down hill from there. When I originally called to get a quote for the size POD I would need, the customer service representative had me list everything that I would need to fit in the POD. They then determined that the 7 ft. POD would work for me and that I would only be at 80% capacity. This sounded iffy to me, so I called back two other times to get different perspectives from other representatives, however, the others told me the same thing so I went with the 7 ft. POD. The communication aspect started off very strongly with POD, but when it came time for the POD to deliver, the POD was TINY. My boyfriend and I had a fully furnished one bedroom apartment that needed to fit in this POD and ship to Denver, CO as we are relocating from Wisconsin. This POD did not even fit half of our belongings (after stuffing it to the brim) and now we are completely screwed. We called PODS to see if they could deliver a larger container, and they said yes, however, they were unable to guarantee that the first POD would be refunded....UNREAL. There was no way I could be out $4000 for this so we are currently trying to figure out a plan B. This move was supposed to go extremely smoothly, but now PODS is making our move even more stressful then ever. This is 100% PODS problem as I had 3 different people quote me with this container size and said it would not even be at capacity. The fact that PODS refuses to offer me any kind of refund or something for our troubles since we will now have to figure out how to move the rest of our stuff is absolutely outrageous and unacceptable. I will NEVER use this company again unless customer service steps up and offers us something to compensate for this disaster. read more

I wish I had read all these reviews before I booked my PODS! I have spent HOURS on hold, literally hours. Just today, I waited for over 45 minutes to talk with someone about my upcoming delivery. The Pods rep. she couldn't answer my questions. I was placed on hold again for the resolution team and then guess what.... the call disconnected. I signed up for a PODS thinking I would need more than three months. In fact, we only needed it two months. I understood when I signed up for three months that I was getting a special promotional rate that included free delivery. (The delivery and final pickup fee is the same as a month's rental.) When I arranged to have it picked up, the CSR (Taneisha in Clearwater, FL) told me I'd have to pay the cost for delivery and pickup. I expected that, but when I found out it was the same cost as keeping it another month, I suggested I should just keep it one more month, and it would be the same price. Then she told me I'd have to keep it two more months to meet the three-month obligation and get free pickup/delivery. That confused me, because I would have made my third payment on the service in May. Apparently, PODS time works differently than the rest of the world, because they bill in advance, so three payments doesn't equal three months of rentals. Um...okay. Nice math there. To be clear, I expected to have to pay for an additional month, either as an actual month's rental, or as the deceptively described delivery/pickup fee, but their version of math and time astounds me. It's definitely something of which one should be aware before renting. Know they're going to get an extra month out of you regardless of how long you keep it--but it doesn't really count, because you paid in advance. LOL. read more

Several weeks ago, we scheduled our POD to be picked up and taken to our new house just a few miles away today. Yesterday, they call us to say they overbooked and have to switch pickup to next week!!! We are moving today, not next week! They should pay people to work overtime if they overbooked, not screw their customer. This is absurd. read more

Oh my God! The WORST experience E.V.E.R!!! The 3 hour window was given and 1 hour past the window, there was no call so I call the 1866-614-7637 number and was on hold for 28 minutes. When the operator answered, she told me that 3 hour window was an estimate and not a promise. When I asked why they couldn't call me at the end of the 3rd hour, she said they didn't have to call us. I asked that she gets in touch with the driver to give me better idea , she said she couldn't do that. With much insistence, she put me on hold and told me that it will be another 45 minutes. I wanted to ask another question and she hung up on me. So I called back, and 44 minutes later guy by name of Miguel answered and he called the driver ( who didn't answer) and he said he left the msg for the driver to call me back. At that time, I told him I wanted to file and complaint so he told me to hold. I asked him if the hold was going to be miserably long, he said no, that it will be a short hold. After 26 minutes of holding , an arrogant guy by the name of Vennie Kabashi answered and said he is in charge of complaints so I explained the situation all over again. At the end of the conversation, he told me to hold and that he will transfer me to a complain department. By that time, I 've been on hold too long and was livid! I thought he was the complaint department. His answer? No, he wanted to hear the situation so he can direct me to the department. With his smug attitude , probably getting minimum wage he put me on hold during mid-sentance. After holding for 29 more minutes, I gave up (that was their plan to begin with, I think) and decided to yelp. I'm moving from Pasadena to San Diego so I really don't know which facility was to blame but since 866 number is nation wide number , I think they all can take the blame. I did have a very nice experience from 9 years ago so I didn't think twice to hire them but NO MORE! I really don't want to give 1 star but there is no way I can give zero star. Hope you will take this warning seriously because your blood pressure will rise and you will have to deal with incompetent staff! We have used Pods in the past to move across California state with good results. HOWEVER, this local move with them was nothing but pricing error after pricing error. If you choose to use pods, which I highly recommend that you don't, get all quotes over the phone with an agent and have them clearly spell out for you any fee changes, additional charges and give concise reasons for any and all changes necessary. If you need to make any changes to dates, storage periods, or delivery dates, do not make changes online, but speak with an agent, as online WILL NOT notify you of pricing changes, but rather just charge your card without your knowledge. Even with an agent, it changes depending on who you speak with. 6 agents, two of which were "supervisors" gave different costs for my changes and low and behold the computer decided to change me an additional amount. 4 long hours on the phone later it was removed after I filed a complaint for them to review previous phone conversations with price quotes. If you use them Good Luck, however I recommend you find another company. read more

I don't recommend using PODS at all. I thought I'd spend the extra money and avoid the hassles of a rental truck and etc... but I won't do it again. I moved from San Diego to Texas. For starters, its very expensive. Significantly more than doing it yourself either via truck rental or www.uship.com. (Don't let them fool you on the phone with their shady sales speak - check the costs yourself, even calculating 10 miles per gallon worst case and assuming I would be paying $4-5 per gallon out in the middle of nowhere it would be much cheaper to do it yourself) I even consulted two different professional movers and they were both only slightly more than what PODS was going to cost me (and they pack and load and insure your goods) - the only reason I went with PODS was due to the short time frame I had to work with and their limited availability. The only insurance available thru pods was to protect the container itself against total loss (car accident, etc...) -- and only up to $10,000. Anything damaged inside during transport is *not* covered. Every single person I've dealt with at PODS seemed to have a bad attitude and/or weren't very helpful and/or gave me wrong information. I nearly backed out of using PODS 4 or 5 times by the time my drop-off date arrived but I recently hurt my back and that is the only reason I didn't end up backing out and doing it myself. I was constantly getting misinformation between various phone calls about the dates and amounts of charges, the drop off and pick up times, etc.... It was so bad I was becoming a nervous wreck and decided to reserve a UHaul truck at the last minute as a backup plan. I never did receive a phone call the night before with my estimated drop-off time like I was told by two different agents on the phone, instead it was an email that I just happened to notice as I'm browsing the internet on my laptop at a McDonald's the next morning since my cable/internet service had already been disconnected. I then called to re-verify this information and it turns out the time window provided in the email was off by 1 hour from what the agent was seeing in their system. So even more panic set in as I was now 1 hour into my window instead of 1 hour prior - so I rushed home and got lucky.. They of course showed up at the very last minute of the window. I had a very coordinated timeline as I am moving halfway across the country and for the cost of this move I would expect a much higher level of professionalism and overall better experience. Logistically dealing with PODS was a constant stream of worry, concern and frustration. PODS needs to grasp the concept of moving. People are already stressed out and worrying about coordinating a dozen things. (And I don't even have a family/kids to throw into the mix either) You would think they could provide timely, accurate information at the very least. I was shocked at how bad this experience was. I honestly don't see this company staying in business much longer unless they make drastic changes. I'm willing to bet they don't get much repeat business... certainly not for one-way moves. Moving is stressful enough than to deal with this level of professionalism. At least with UHaul you can get your truck on YOUR timeline and there isn't much to worry about. At no time in dealing with PODS did I feel like a "Customer". I felt like they had an attitude that I owned them something. I felt like just a number or a dollar sign to someone. I don't recommend using them at all. Oh another note; DO NOT under any circumstances trust them when they say your zip code is on the approved list of locations where these containers can be placed on the street. I've now heard from several people after discussing this experience that they are very shady when it comes to this and a lot of people have found out the hard way. read more

I wish I would have done more research before going with PODs, there are actually a lot of other portable storage companies out there. We had a fire in our home on 11/1 and have been unable to reside there since, we are a month later still living out of suitcases with relatives. After a long battle with the insurance company we finally made progress and it was time to have a dumpster and storage unit delivered. We needed to empty the contents of our home so we can begin the clean up and repair the extensive damages. I set up to have a POD and dumpster delivered on the same day, the window for my POD was 7:45a-10:45a, understanding that this was a window and weary that they would arrive within those three hrs I intentionally scheduled the dumpster to be delivered between 1 and 3pm. We needed the POD to go in the driveway first as we will have that for 30+ day and will only need the dumpster for a week or less. I went to work as I was expecting a call prior to arrival and would have time to get there for the delivery, no call ever came so I left at 10:30 just to be safe.. still no call, and no one showed up. I eventually called in for an update and was informed that my POD was not going to be delivered between 12 and 3, no one ever called to inform me of the changing ETA. My dumpster showed up right on time, they were pilot and professional and dropped the dumpster safely in my driveway. Hours go by and still no word on my POD. Finally at 2pm the POD driver calls me to say he is 30-40 minutes away. I wait, and wait and he arrives AFTER 3pm, so even outside my new window. When he called I informed him the POD would now need to be placed in the side yard because they were late and the dumpster was already there. He was so rude, had such an attitude about it and said he couldn't do that because the grass was wet.. it didn't rain and hasn't in days, he wasn't even at my house yet to know if my grass was wet, which it wasn't and informed me the driveway would be my only option. I told him no I couldn't have the POD placed behind the dumpster because there would be no way to get the dumpster our of the driveway when we were done. The driver eventually showed up close to 3:30. I showed him where we wanted to place the POD and he gave and attitude and said it would be a difficult drop for him.. which it isn't, he had permission to use my neighbors driveway if needed and there are no trees, power lines or anything interfering. The drive was careless.Tore up the yard and my POD leans to the left.. Now because of the VERY late arrival we were unable to start loading the POD until close to 4pm instead of at noon like we planned which has now further delayed our clean up because we didn't finish everything yesterday. I contacted customer service because I felt I should be refunded my delivery fee and Heather was not understanding and rude. She said an ETA is not guarantee'd and working in the service industry I understand that it is difficult to make every window but arriving more than 5hrs outside that window is completely unacceptable. Had someone called me in the morning to tell me there was a change I could have had my dumpster delivered later and the POD could have gone in the driveway as originally intended. We have been dealing with nothing but issues beyond our control since the fire occurred and this was another frustration. They stated that a delivery fee will never be refunded for a missed window but have no consideration what effect that missed window and no communication have on the customer. I even asked her how she would feel if she were to have someone scheduled for a home repair or something that needed to be done to make her home livable again and they arrived 5hrs outside the window with no communication how would she feel, she said she would be fine because a window is just a window. I'm sorry but 7:45-10:45 and 3:30 is a MAJOR time difference and they could careless. Do yourself a favor and do your research.. they get a lot of business because they are well known but they have terrible service and get away with it because they are a big company. All they care about is their money, not the customer or customer satisfaction. read more

Pod delivery man showed up at my apartment area today and parked a pod in two spots in front of my door, asked them to move it at least one more spot down so it would not be in front of my door. They refused. Now I am stuck with rude neighbors and this eye sore sitting in front of my door for who knows how many days. Not only am I dealing with a noise from this being right outside my door these strangers stuff is pretty much right on my door step. read more
