Back again for more onions rings and a Jack D Cheeseburger. Howdy peeps. Thunderstorms scared the cooking out me me, so it's out with the wife for burgers, onion rings, and simple fare. The last time here was my first time. This is her first trip. Okay, so I forgot to mention the last review. The order takes a while. What is a while? Think sit down restaurant at full capacity. There was nothing wrong with that, but we are the only two in the restaurant's seated area. The place is full of pool players, so the bar is serving. But service for food should be a little faster pace with it not being near capacity. In a second, I'm going to look around for the guy from Bar Rescue to pop out. There is no way a couple of burgers and onion rings are this involved. Okay, food came out and saved the day. Burgers were jooooocey, thick, and cooked perfectly Buns light, toasted. The food more than justified the wait. One must never rush perfectionists. So yes. 5 stars. The server checked on us more than enough to make sure things were great. They were. Peace folks. there's plenty of pool tables to pick and choose from, I will say that long ways the pool tables are a bit too close so just be careful you're not gonna be hitting anybody but that does come with the pool hall. We ordered the chips and salsa, the patty melt, and the club sandwich. The chips and salsa were horrible. The chips themselves were really good quality and freshly made, but the salsa was honestly chunky tomato sauce with no flavor. After a while, I will be honest it grow on us, but it's not something I would ever reorder. The patty melt was nine out of 10. The onion rings, though were fresh tasted a bit stale, but the patty melt overall was hot fresh and the bread itself was amazing. My boyfriend got the club sandwich with the tater tots and he absolutely loved it. I stole a couple of his tater tots and took a bite out of his sandwich. The ingredients were definitely fresh and I loved the tater tots. The only thing I would recommend bringing is probably sanitizers or wet wipes just because you are touching pool sticks and then eating food but luckily, we are very close to the restroom so we do not have to worry about that. Overall, it was a very roomy welcoming place. The only thing I was confused about is mine and his food with the chips added up to about $37 and our bill came out to about $57-$60 on the receipt. It didn't say how much was charged per item so we don't know if we were charged to play pool or not nor how much the fee was. So this place is definitely worth a trip but based on your own experience, will tell you if you should come back or not read more

Best dive burger I've had in months.. I ordered the Swiss mushroom burger and fries. Burger is huge with lots of cheese and mushrooms and juice just falling out. Fries nice and crispy and seasoned with some type of seasoned salt. The food alone is definitely worth the business. Service was fast and friendly. Huge bar and lots of pool tables and games, they have poker every night of the week. Either way food or fun definitely a cool place. read more

Pockets is Definitely one of the best pool halls in the Metroplex. The 8' Brunswick Tables are well kept & they all have Simonis felt! There are over 10+ tables here, so no worries if there is pool league, there are still open tables to play on. They even have Shuffleboard!! The Food is Incredible!! The meaty wings have a crunchy, & spicy flavor that's delicious, the fries are fried & seasoned perfectly. The BLT is probably my favorite, and...OH MY GOSH.. that French Dip is to die for!! They also have Happy Hour specials up until 7pm. The head bartenders name is Paisley & she's the sweetest and funnest bartender on the planet! Every-time I go to the bar, she makes sure she takes care of customers without hesitation. The servers are always checking up on you while you play pool, and bring your food and drinks with a smile! They take the time to cut up and share a laugh then move to the next table. 3 waitress there really make the experience fun Sam, Raven & Taylor are Totally Awesome! I just can't say enough nice things about folks that take the time serve promptly & with a smile!! The owner has taken the time to make this establishment fun, safe, and clean. Listen, a well kept pool hall is not something you find often. Most of the time it's nasty & you'd be embarrassed to take a date or a friend there. Let's start this review by saying, yes, Pockets is a pool hall. Don't let that stop you from coming in. This place is huge. If you like pool, the place for you. If you like happy hour, also the place for you. Monday thru Friday from 4-630 drinks are half off. Staff is down to earth and fun to banter with. The menu is really good for a bar. I really enjoy the Philly, sub chicken and add jalapeño. Fish and chips are not on the menu yet but you can order it. Very good. The wings, so good. Both breaded and traditional. On Tuesday stop by for pastor tacos. They are amazing. Stop in and have some fun! read more

Today I ordered a chicken fried steak and OMG, it was as good a CFS as I've ever had in Dallas/FtWorth. Was absolutely perfect. I couldn't reccomend this high enough. Coming to this place was overall an uncomfortable visit. Unfortunately, me and my friends stumbled upon this location while looking for a place to relax and play some pool. We entered and were immediately asked for our ID's (which is expected) but then followed back to our pool table by another staff member who then asked for our ID's again. We were served, but to put it nicely, the drinks were subpar. Food was great, but the bartenders were rude and inexperienced. Thankfully a kind member of the staff was very friendly, which kept our spirits semi-above middle ground. To sum it up, we will not be returning. read more

They don't even deserve this one star. Very VERY rude waitresses and bartenders. Like, tips are all these people make so it always amazes me when I see people in this industry being so rude. Bartenders spend all their time talking to a select group of customers and ignoring the rest. The layout inside pockets is very poor as well. Let's not even talk about $9.75 for ONE hour of pool!? That's three games give or take... That's absolutely ridiculous. Their robbing people everyday with those prices! I've never paid for more than a $1 a game anywhere else I've gone. If I could give less I would. The GM has been here for years and has run the place into the ground. I've seen the kitchen and it's disgusting. Look at the carpet when you get in and imagine cooking on that. The food is worse than bar food. We play league APA there and the AC doesn't work so you sweat profusely when you're there. The bathroom septic tank backs up and it smells like pooh throughout the restaurant. The GM thinks he's a biker so he brings a bunch of bikers there all the time so it's borderline unsafe. But wait there's more... What conclusion do you come to when all the domestic beers are $3.00 but Mexican beer like Corona and XX is 5.75. I've been going here for years because I don't have a choice. Go to Legends, volcanoes, flips, clicks. Anywhere but here. Don't go here for the food, go here to play pool with friends and have a few drinks. If you're looking for a great pool hall that you and friends can have a good time, this is the place. Yes, it's smokey, but what do you expect? The place is targeting the 18-35 audience who like to hang out with friends, smoke, drink and play some pool. $9 an hour of pool which is a little pricy which is why I gave a 3 star. I guess it depends on what you look for in a bar. If you're looking for a place to maybe get a little tail, play pool, and watch the game and that's it, you've got it here. If you're looking for somewhere with atmospheric charm, good music, and classy clientele, this isn't for you. Places like these are a dime a dozen - a big ol' nasty pool hall with cheap drinks and Shiner on draft. I came here as a desperate measure after finding that Toadie's was more crowded than usual and was treated to a near-empty bar and Britney Spears music. And sticky tables. I didn't particularly enjoy myself except for the company, but I wasn't repelled either. At one point, two late twenty-somethings passed us wearing what was essentially the same outfit (the only difference being the color of their baseball caps). One said "Hello," and the other, "Hola." So if you're looking for some Bilingual flirtation? You got it here. When we left, there was some guy screaming to another guy to go home to his breadmaker. Maybe he just got a new one or something. Or maybe he meant to say "breadwinner" and was trying to be an emasculating jerk, but no one thought to correct him. This place was a lot more fun when I was underage. read more

I came here to play in a pool tournament and was expecting a real dive but I was pleasantly surprised. One of the nicer bars I've been to around here, Pockets has lots of pool tables (both short and long), some arcade games lining the walls and shuffleboard ensuring there's a little bit of something for everyone here. The food is alright, a bit pricey for what you get but I didn't expect much out of a bar. The typical lineup of burgers, chicken sandwiches, and various fried apps with the quality you'd expect but if there was one food that stood out to me it was the "breakfast burritos" they offered. I'm not sure if it's part of their normal menu or it was just a special offering for the pool competition but they cost $2.50 and were frankly awful. They were about the size of a dry erase marker and filled with what I was told was "sausage" but I've never seen a sausage that was turned into a paste. Oh well, food aside I think the reason I enjoyed the place was the staff. They were very cold to me when I first arrived but once they warmed up they became the kind of bar staff I like. Quick witted and willing to take your shit as well as dish out some of their own. I can see this place being kind of like a Cheers once you became a regular. Overall a good place to go. read more

This place just is not what it used to be. This place has been open for a long time and they have done nothing to upgrade it.sure they put in a few tvs and the juke box but the carpet is just nasty and is a hundred years old and this place still looks the same since it opened.plus you can smoke here too which is not good for me.their food is decent and always has been but other then that not much to say about the place.i haven't been there in a really long time and just really don't have the urge.this used to be the spot to hang out at but that was a long time ago. read more

The only enjoyment I get from this place is the pool tables and the shuffle board. The service here has been SLOW and AWEFUL. Although our waitress was young, pretty and talkitive, her sense of urgency and respect for customers is completely lacking. At one point, there was a completely wasted girl tailing our waitress, parading her around like a lost, drunk puppy. Who knows if she was even of age to drink. I know for sure our waitress was only 19. I'm very diss appointed in this place now. It use to be fairly descent. Now I don't know if I will ever be returning. It seems like every city I've ever been to has a restaurant/bar-n-grill/sports bar called "Pockets" (or or "Shooters", "Quenchers" or "Chasers" or some variation thereof) and none of them are part of a chain. The atmosphere and menu are almost always the same. This place is no exception. It has your typical burgers and chicken sandwiches menu and drink specials. They offer free pool during the lunch hour, kareoke night, pool tournament night, Texas Hold'em night, etc. I went with some of my colleagues who were staying with me at the nearby Microtel. We went early in the evening, but this looks like it is a fun place. I was in the mood for a good big ol' cheeseburger and I gotta admit, my burger was very good. I haven't been to Pocket's in over a year because of my last experience. If you're not in the APA league you get no service. I was moved to 3 different tables to accommodate league play that basically occurs daily. I felt like an outsider. I love pool, this place is close to my house, I tip well, and would have spent a lot of time and money there. The tables are decent, but, the best tables aren't available to non league players. Sad situation. The league players were rude, and, so was the staff as they requested for me to move tables all night. I could've whooped every one of the APA players in pool and general kindness. Stay away from this place! It's not a pool hall that makes you feel welcome and comfortable. read more

I love this pool hall! Mostly because it reminds of being in middle school and how I thought I would be some cool sexy dancer turned professional pool player when I grew up. I did neither of those things. But this spot brings back fond memories. Is it a great pool hall? No, but the bar is filled with good bartenders and they have great chemistry and it is fun to watch. Pretty standard pool hall and grille (which doesn't have very good hours IMO). I mean what else should I say. Nothing too special about it, looks a lil beat up and run down but that's pretty common in the south. Their service is good. Lots of pool tables and games set up, arcade games alike. Crowd is usually pretty mixed and diverse, which I love. I love going here on a Friday, Saturday or any night to hang out with friends for a few hours and get a few games/drinks/laughs/etc in. I visited here with my friend and they had inexpensive drinks and better pool tables . It should be 9 ft. They were not nasty like you see in some bars with holes from cigarettes or drink spill. This is an ok place to hang and play pool, I really liked this place when I was 18 through 21 now I'm 25. But I liked it cuz I got to hang with friends and smoke my ciggs and play pool. They have a kitchen and the food is not bad for a pool hall. This is obviously a great place for the young kids who are just turning 18 or 21 and who just want to hang out. I don't know why this place has so many negative reviews. Was a pretty clean bar. Kinda smokey (cigarettes) but most bars are in this area. They DO have a full menu of food and the food was just decent/average. Very busy on a Monday night for a bar with just a few reviews. Bartenders were cute; 4/5 stars because my glass sat empty for a few minutes while they finished chatting with bar regulars. But all-in-all, a great experience. Quite bad customer service. Very slow at getting drinks out. Waitresses were semi-nice until it's checkout time, then they were assholes. The pool table we played on was warped, no doubt. Some of the people coming in were trashy. One pushed (consensually) one of the waitresses into a side room or bathroom for a minute, waitress had no objection even though she was on duty. One of the waitresses at the end of the night was yelling at people to leave who were waiting to pay. No apology when she was informed that they were waiting to pay. Just shitty, gtfo kind of attitude at the end of the night. No thanks for our patronage. read more

I don't like smoke, but even more, hate smelling like smoke! I had my hopes up that it would be No Smoking since they claim its a Restaurant, but no luck. Definitely NOT a restaurant but a bar. Obvious by the 51% alcohol sales sign in the entry. Only came here to play pool. Plenty of tables! All but one table was taken, we got on a waiting list, 5-10 min later they said a table was ready, go figure... It was they open table that was still just as open and vacant as when we got put on a waiting list. Turns out, that table had 2 torn pockets that the balls fell through (musta been why it was open). Had one Dos XX bottle that was good and cold! The crowd was diverse and seemed like most people were friendly. Probably wont be back just due to the smoking atmosphere. read more
