I looooooove this place! The burgers and fries are famously the best in down. However, few know about their tri-tip burritos. Hands down it is my favorite burrito of the last few years. Always consistently tasty, kind staff, and keeping the beach vibes present. Limited seating, but every bite is worth it! I often get mine to go and stroll to the beach or grass strip park for a picnic.
Delicious breakfast burrito with variety of protein and potato options. Good portion sizes and made fresh to order. Friendly service. Very welcoming. Mom & pop atmosphere. Picnic tables outside with sun umbrellas
Still a gem to this day. Service and food has remained consistent and happy to have such a staple in the area. Burgers are well made and cooked fresh and fries/tots always hit the spot.
Nothing beats a satisfying brunch after a surf sesh. Burger and burrito took care of that and the horchata was a cherry on top. Owner was wonderful and gave us a history of the place.

They also recently received Visit Huntington Beach's first annual Foodie Awards in 2025 - winning "Best Family Friendly Restaurant" and "The Best Burger in Huntington Beach" (Sunset Beach is an incorporated part of Huntington Beach). Their burgers are made from Wagyu mixed beef patties, preservative-free potato brioche buns, and housemade "Pocket" sauce. [Parking]: It is almost impossible for visitors to find free public parking here on busy weekends. All parking spots on N Pacific Ave were all taken. However, visitors can park right in front Sunset Beach USPS just a block away, but for no more than 10 minutes max. [Amenities]: No public restroom. Three outdoor tables with tents. [Menu]: Going by Yelp's top recommendations they would be Tri-tip Burger and Breakfast Burrito. Their Breakfast Burrito is served all day with one protein options (chorizo, sausage, bacon, ham, spam, or soyrizo) and one potato option (house potatoes, tater tots, or French fries). I ask the cashier and he only suggested house potatoes and said your "typical' options like bacon or ham. *** Breakfast Burrito (three eggs, cheese, sour cream, onions, bell peppers, and pico de gallo wrapped in a flour tortilla - bacon, mild aka green sauce, house potatoes, no beans - $14.00): Talk about one HUGE portion - it was enough for two people to share. If a burger with no patty (just onions and bell peppers + replace patties with bacon) ever has a baby with breakfast burrito, then this is what it would look like. Personally this burrito could have slightly more bacon and less burrito. Green salsa was good as it had a little bit of heat. *** In hindsight I probably should've pick tater tots instead of house potatoes for better texture. While this breakfast burrito was a little bit different that what I normally have, overall this shack still makes some pretty solid breakfast burrito.
The service was great but expect a wait for the food if you don't order ahead! The owner greeted us and brought the food to us outside - very friendly. The people working here were all family and that gave this a great vibe. There are a few picnic benches outside but many people pick up and go. You can order ahead so you don't have to wait around. Found this spot on yelp as I was passing through the neighborhood so I decided to stop... I was not disappointed! As soon as I rolled up somebody was offering me a sample of their Agua Fresca which turned out to be one of the best I've ever had.. There were several things on the menu that I wanted to try but I chose the vegan burger as that's what had been on my mind when I was searching Yelp. It was the standard Impossible patty on a nice brioche with their "pocket" sauce that hits like a teriyaki, will definitely be getting an extra side of the sauce next time. The garlic fries were the best I've had to date, that was a nice surprise!

This level of burger is a real treat. It's better than most burgers at a sit down restaurant. I need to come more often!

Last time I got the tri-tip burger which was a huge but delicious and juicy burger, and garlic fries which left me full and satisfied for the rest of the day. Today I got the pocket burger, and fries come with it but we uncharged for the garlic fries which disappoint, and got a side of onion rings too. Remembering the portion sizes, my husband and I decided to split all this instead of getting a second burger. The onion rings were hot and crunchy, so fresh and tasted house made. The garlic fries are also crunchy, hot and delicious but topped with a heavy minced garlic topping. I love garlic so this was right up my alley. The showstopper was the burger, yes sides are great and I'm glad we tried the onion rings this time, but that burger was fire . The sauce, the flavor, the fresh egg and veggies! It was a true masterpiece. Their sign doesn't lie, they truly do have the best burgers in town. FYI - this is a local, family owned business with very nice people running the restaurant. The only seating is outdoors at picnic tables. Most folks seem to get their food to go as seating is limited. We went for lunch around 1:00 - 1:30pm on a Tuesday and had no issues getting a seat. Last time we came on a weekend and almost did not get a table.

There is a reason why they received a 2025 Foodie Award for Best Burger. Outstanding flavor and taste! The owners Lori and Daniel have put their heart and soul into this establishment and it shows. They are also some on the nicest people you will meet. The restaurant has a small counter inside and several shaded tables in front. It has the classic Mom and Pop burger feel. Parking in front is limited, but there is ample spots in the back. If you are craving a savory and perfectly crafted burger, look no further!

I always forget about Pocket Burger Shack because they're only open from 8 AM-3 PM. I'll drive by, think, "I need to go back there," and of course it's usually after 3 and they're closed. I finally made it back after a few years, and I'm glad I did. They have a surprisingly wide menu--burgers, breakfast, bowls, tacos, salads, you name it--and the owner is friendly and welcoming. I stopped in around 11 AM for an early lunch and got the Pocket Burger. It has that delicious sweet-and-savory thing going on: salty bacon, fried egg, avocado, and teriyaki sauce that enhances the burger without overpowering it. It all comes on a delicious brioche bun that soaks up the sauce and all those burger juices. Really flavorful and definitely restaurant-quality. It's also gloriously messy. I finally gave up and ate it with a fork and knife. I'll just fake an English accent so everyone thinks I'm sophisticated instead of a weirdo. Totally worth it. It costs a little more than your basic burger, but it's unique, delicious, and a great break from the usual In-N-Out routine. It's right across from the kayak place in Sunset Beach, so go kayaking, grab a Pocket Burger, and have a great day. Just remember to get there before 3! read more

The most delicious, crispy, freshly made onion rings. You know when you take a bite of shitty diner onion rings and the onion slips out like cheap panties and a dollar store wh-. Well this isn't that. The onion rings were crafted by the gods behind the counters. The burger constructed from the grill to the ceiling with an egg, large patty, lettuce tomato and onion. So large you can hardly get it in one bite. This place is a local favorite for a reason. Fighting demons to look for parking is worth it when this is the reward. 10/10 read more

Enjoying the area while visiting kiddos for the holiday. It was a lazy morning at Bolsa Chica RV Park and decided to grab a quick breakfast. I got a breakfast sandwich: plain bagel with ham, scrambled egg and tots. You definitely get quite a bit for $8 but really wasn't a fan. The bagel was fresh and nicely toasted but had a lot of butter or mayo. The ham was tasty but the egg was not my favorite. It appeared to be cooked in a microwave and was undercooked for my liking. The tots were plenty and good. I decided to deconstruct the sandwich and eat the bagel and ham separately. All in all the sandwich was acceptable. Service was quick and personable. The establishment was clean and welcoming. The food was nicely packed with napkin and condiments. A plus in my book! So, if you want a quick bite to eat on the way to/fro the beach, stop on it but before 3 when they close. read more

Most wonderfully friendly, considerate, family owned business I've ever been to. Incredible food every bite is as good as the first and somehow gets even better. The owners come and check in on you very often asking for anything you need and truly care how your experience is, they even remembered my name coming all the way from Utah. Incredibly generous with portions, flavor that keeps you coming back and hospitality that feels like a warm hug every time. Try them out for the best burgers! read more

Phenomenal little spot right next to the beach, a little hard to get to if you're driving in traffic, but DAMN is this spot worth it. The tri tip burger was like a rush of endorphins as soon as my lips bit into that soft brioche bun, and my God the tri tip was flavorful. I will be keeping this spot close to the chest and coming here whenever I'm in town. Omg you will not be disappointed at all, the staff here are incredibly friendly as well, they have a ton of different items, drinks etc and the patio is nice and relaxing. I've passed by this spot for years and for some reason never stopped but we went today and it is absolutely fantastic. BF got the Tri-Tip Salad and it was extremely hearty - just absolutely chock full of deliciousness and more than enough for him. I grabbed the Sunset Burger and upgraded to the garlic fries and just...do yourself a favor and get the garlic fries. Portion size was good for me and they were absolutely delicious. read more

Found this place when looking for a vegetarian meal. We ordered the impossible burger and the potato tacos. The food was excellent and had large portions by my standards. The taco sauce was very, very good! They also have the crunchy fries which I love. I also love that it's a cute little burger place and has outdoor seating. We didn't have our dogs with us but they had a large water bowl out which I appreciated. Service was friendly and guy at the register was very nice, showing us what we can order as non meat eaters. read more

Okay let me tell you the spouse was watching this place for a while 2 year. The service was exceptional. The owner comes out and talks and serves customers. Love it. I finally stopped by Pocket Burger Shack to try their breakfast and lunch - boy, I was disappointed in myself that I hadn't tried them sooner; the food is so delicious and fresh, with even a little bit of a spicy kick to it, too! The first time I tried Pocket Burger Shack was with my best friend. We were lured in to Pocket Shack as we drove by PCH and saw their breakfast burritos sign - we knew it was a sign and that we just had to stop and try their breakfast burritos! We both ordered a breakfast burrito and also split the chilaquiles to try them together. The service was very fast - our order was ready within 10 minutes and the owner, Daniel filled us in on his journey with Pocket Burger Shack! I absolutely loved the spices in the breakfast burrito and chilaquiles, I couldn't wait to come back for lunch! Daniel told us that his manager makes the salsa Verde from scratch - what a gem of a find in Sunset! I absolutely love everything about this beach shack - from the friendly service, to the fresh food, and of course I love that it's a short walk to actually enjoy your meal on the sand. So after my breakfast adventure here, I had to come back and order lunch to go for my mom and I. Just as before, the experience was so friendly and seamless. I loved walking into pocket shack to pick up my order, with a nice breeze from the sand and tables full of happy customers. This time we ordered the pocket burger, grilled chicken salad and the kids chicken tender meal. I tried their regular fries and garlic fries - both were hot, crispy, fresh and the garlic was freshly grated and there was plenty of it on my garlic fries! The pocket burger was amazingly seasoned, while the chicken salad was HUGE with fresh chopped crispy veggies and the chicken tenders were fresh and crispy. I've loved all my food adventures at Pocket Burger Shack and I'm looking forward to my next meal here. So far my favorites are their: Pocket Burger, garlic fries, chilaquiles, breakfast burrito and chicken tenders. This little place has awesome burgers and extra awesome wonderfully crispy fries. Garlic fries are loaded with garlic. I always get the Impossible patty which is cooked perfectly (other places often overcook them). Also, they have delicious lemonades and drinks made from scratch. Tried a strawberry shake today. Sooo creamy. Tastes like it is made with real strawberries?!? Outdoor seating with umbrellas. Across from a place you can rent paddle boards and kayaks on one side and a nice stretch of beach on the other side. Owner is friendly and accommodating. Come try this little gem and give them your business! You won't be sorry. read more
