Plumbing Guys came to do a free estimate for sewer lateral replacement. Two people came and did a thorough inspection and explained to me that we did not have a pre-existing street cleanout. Their quote $11k was higher than another one $9k so I went with the lower quote. I had a 3rd quote for $7k but they were inaccurate about the location of the sewer lateral and whether I had a street cleanout. The company I selected did a good job and put in a 3rd cleanout where our sewer lateral turns at an elbow joint. The Plumbing Guys did not identify this problem and additional work. read more

I had an emergency plumbing situation and needed a plumber to come out the same day to unclog the toilet. I called the Plumbing Guys and spoke with the owner Wali, and he was able to get a plumber out on short notice. The process was pretty simple and he instructed me to text the address to another phone number (I guess the number that's listed on Yelp isn't their main number). I did as instructed, and Wali called back and told me that John would be on his way shortly. John arrived within 2 hours of my call and fixed the issue within 30 minutes. The toilet needed a new ball and chain replacement, and John came equipped with the materials needed. The pricing was fair for the job that was done, and John was quick and thorough. We called The Plumbing Guys on Friday to look at our sump pump when our basement started flooding. They came out quickly and claimed to have repaired the issue (according to them, the connection to the sewer was disconnected) and then left quickly after being paid. But they didn't bother to check the outflow and the pump continued not to work after their "repair" so the basement continued to flood. We started calling them to come back right away but they didn't answer or come back for three days. We couldn't get any other plumbers or a new sump pump to come out over the holiday weekend so our basement flooded for three days. By the time they came back our hot water heater had flooded and broken and the basement was under three inches of water. We spoke to the owner of The Plumbing Guys just now and he said it's our own fault for believing their technician when they said the sump pump was fixed, and they will do nothing to help us. Eventually he offered us a slight discount on further plumbing services but I would never trust this company with my plumbing again. We've had several other plumbers out now who all agree that the pump is and was broken all along and needs to be replaced. Even the technician from The Plumbing Guys who originally said the pump was working fine now says it is "super old" and needs to be replaced. If the technician - literally the same guy! - had said so the first time he came out on Friday, we could have saved over $15k in damages to our house. I have no idea how we will pay for all this. The Plumbing Guys have flooded our house and are defiantly unapologetic and refusing to help fix it. Do not trust them with your home under any circumstances. read more

Manuel came over quickly and on time to diagnose the issue and helped suggest options on how to fix it, none of which were easy jobs. I came home to find my kitchen leaking water from an unknown source. The water from my kitchen drained to my bathroom, down to my bedroom, and into the garage. The first plumbers I hired misdiagnosed the problem in a rush, and my floors continued to sustain damage from leaking water from an unknown source. I eventually hired new plumbers, the Plumbing Guys and they cut open my bedroom ceiling and immediately found the culprit, leaking copper pipes. Manuel didn't rush, and made sure that there were no other sources of leaking water. The first plumbers made my leak sound like no big deal (even though my house was flooded and my ceiling, bed, and personal property were all destroyed). Manuel + Yaya at the Plumbing Guys were patient and compassionate and also helped me navigate the insurance industrial complex. I will only use the Plumbing Guys from now on! read more

tl;dr: don't trust them when they tell you it's fixed. I had a small amount of flooding in my basement the day before the New Year's Eve storm, and after rescuing furniture and frantically bailing out the basement, I guessed that probably our sump pump was the problem. We called Plumbing Guys. Their tech came out, looked at the sump, and said that the pump wasn't actually connected to anything (yikes!). He connected it, I asked if it was working now, he said yes, he told me the pump was good, and rushed off. I understood his desire to get to his next job ASAP, since it was without a doubt the busiest night for plumbers in a long time. The next morning we woke up to find about 3 inches of water covering our basement, high enough to destroy the brand new hot water heater we had installed back in September. So we had to get someone in to replace that / dispose of the broken one, and we had to rip out all of the flooring that we had just installed, and then hire some very expensive water damage remediation folks to help us strip the drywall, set up blowers, test for mold, and so forth. While we were bailing out the basement and ripping out the floor, I called a bunch of other plumbers. Two ended up coming by that day, and both of them (plus the hot water heater guy, who also took a look) said that the sump pump was very old, filled with dirt, and obviously not able to pump anything like the amount of water required to keep the flood at bay. If we had known this beforehand -- if Plumbing Guys hadn't assured us that the pump was good -- we could have lowered a utility pump down the sump and drained the house manually every hour or so until the storm passed. But we trusted Plumbing Guys. While I was calling around to get plumbers in to fix the pump, I also called Plumbing Guys to ask why their tech hadn't found the problem. They didn't get back to me for over a day, but when they did they sent out a guy (I think the same guy?) who went down, actually pulled up the sump pump, and (just like the other plumbers) said that the pump was very old, in bad condition, and needed to be replaced immediately. When I called Plumbing Guys (I think I was speaking with the owner?) about what his guy had said, he said that the pump wasn't old the first day we called, but had aged dramatically over the course of the intervening 36 hours. He had no coherent explanation for how this might have happened, but was very insistent that anyone who had told me we needed to replace the pump was a liar trying to scam me and that he was "the only honest plumber left in the industry." He spent a long while sending me paragraphs-long texts on this theme. I thought this was a very odd use of his time on such a busy night, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I asked him what he was going to do to fix the situation, and he said that he'd give us a 20% discount on installing a new pump. I told him that this was absolutely unacceptable, and said that he should be covering at the very least a large portion of the cost of the damage his company's slapdash work had caused. He didn't offer anything else until after we posted a yelp review. A couple of minutes after it went up, he texted something about how "your wife wrote a novel on yelp but that's okay" and texted me a picture of ripped-up scraps of the 250 dollar check I had written him for the initial visit -- i.e. the one where, as far as I can tell, they never looked closely at the pump. I told him that the cost of the initial visit wasn't the problem, and said again that making this right would require at least in part compensating us for the damage caused by his slapdash work. He said that if he had a pump available, he'd install it for us "at a massive, massive discount," but that unfortunately he had no pumps left. Obviously at this point I wasn't that interested in having his people work on the house, but I told him that if he was seriously making an offer to install it for almost nothing, we have a brand new, just-ordered pump he could use. And that's when he ghosted me. Fortunately, we were able to get a good plumber in before the next big storm hit. He installed our new pump and verified that the drainage was working properly. Our new pump got us through last night's storm like a champ, with no new flooding whatsoever. If on the first night we had called that plumber instead of Plumbing Guys, we wouldn't be scrambling right now to find a way to pay 10k or more for remediation. Stay safe out there, folks! read more

Soooo my daughter flushed 6-7 face wipes down the toilet. Under 2hrs of labor, no parts needed, and a bill for 800 dollars. No receipt, no clean up (the toilet was not backed up the shower and bathtub were just holding water). The wipes were not disgusting(wiped her face with them) but the plumbers demanded a bag to put them in, and I gave him a zip lock bag. His expression looked like he was knee deep in a sewer. There was a weird menacing vibe from the plumbers so I decided to just write a check and let the owner know about the fleecing after they left. Never heard back from him. I am sorry to write this review- it's my first ever with Yelp- and I spent $5k with these guys to replace a water main earlier this year. The price seemed fair enough then, and the plumbers were nice guys. I think the owner subs the work out because the experience this time was appalling and the price was highway robbery. No free estimate...but a $350 bill...no new parts. ]This done to an elderly couple. (As I looked at other reviews, I now see that the negative ones are about not giving the estimates they offer, but charging high prices instead.)
