I called Dominic and left a message at 2:30 on a Saturday afternoon. He called back at 2:33 and asked if I needed him today or tomorrow. Clogged sewer lines can get messy and stinky so I asked if he could come today. He said he would be by around 5:30 or 6:00 pm but call before he came. He called back at 3:45 and said that he would be coming from Alameda after he stopped to refuel his van. He arrived at 4:17 and went straight to the problem. I know that some people might look at Dominic and judge him incorrectly. Treat people like people and they will respond to you. He's is genuinely at really nice guy, does his work with a smile and won't try to sell you the world. We'll, it's now past 8:00pm and dark outside. Dominic just left, unsuccessful at clearing our sewer lateral. He's going to come back to try something else but I won't have time until Wednesday. We've had problems for many years now and it was simpler and cheaper to have Dominic clean out the pipes than to have the lateral replaced. If what he does on Wednesday doesn't work, then we're going to have to bite the bullet. read more

Had a blocked pipe from my bathroom sink and tub that did not respond to any drain cleaner. I tried snaking, and the snake bounced. I called this company and they rose to the challenge. No, Dominic, I paid you to solve my problem, which I told you up front was water backing up into my kitchen sink when my washing machine tub drained. How you went about it was up to you. If you misdiagnosed what the problem was, that's on you. Also, you told me you charge a flat fee for clearing drains, so whatever you had to do should have been included. And there was no "upgrade" needed, no code problem--I just needed the drain cleared. I hired another plumber, who snaked the drain from the roof and cleared it immediately. I would hire Pacific Drain again in a heartbeat. Your response also doesn't explain why you missed multiple appointments and failed to respond to multiple emails and phone calls. Again I find myself writing a review for a "Service oriented" business which is not common for me but I just HAVE to write one for M.S.K Plumbing. I've had issues with my toilets as the water seemed to be draining consistently and would not consistently refill either. These guys are open 7 days a week which is insane since I feel must shops are closed at least Sunday. Was able to leave a message for a potential appointment and received a callback within the hour to schedule my apt. I am always skeptical about services "ripping" me off but knew that this problem had to be fixed. These guys called to let me know they were running ahead of schedule and asked if it was ok for them to show up a bit earlier. They again called to keep me aware of status which I appreciated as I know I hate waiting for people and always being uncertain when they will show up. They came up to do an assessment and prior to stepping into the house he put a sleeve on over his shoes to make sure the floor was not dirty. I found this pretty surprising and considerate... I know its minor but it was thoughtful. He was very transparent on the potential costs and explained what it all entailed for labor and parts. After assessing the situation he grabbed parts and went to work. They were quick, pleasant, and full of knowledge on what I should be looking for in the potential issue. This company is a legit group of folks who are making an honest living and putting in all of their energy to make this company work. It is company like these that deserve the nod and the opportunity to grow and I could not be happier that I gave them a call. At the end of the fixing, they even told me that it was not as bad of an issue as they had identified and cut the price down from what they had originally quoted... which again shows that honesty. I will only use MSK for my plumbing needs - my crazy roommate suspected our water was "poisoned" and unfit to drink or bathe in due to teeny, tiny black specs only she could see. She sublets from me so I felt bound to address her concerns even though I was fairly sure she was coo coo for coconuts (she has since been asked to leave our lovely home). Dominic came out on a Sunday, checked everything including the water heater. No specs to be found - no surprise there! BUT he did find the water heaters vent was completely disconnected and allowing carbon monoxide to free flow into the house. Yikes! Not only did he run to the store to buy the stuff he needed to replace and fix it, he came back later that day because he had concerns that the sealer he used wasn't up to snuff and purchased a higher grade to reapply right then and there. What?! Are you kidding?!? This guy is amazing. Professional, quiet, quick and like I said before, my dog loves him. Talk about a professional! I just bought a house a couple weeks ago and had a washer & dryer delivered today. Well, when they tried to test the washer the standpipe immediately overflowed. After I envisioned all of the money that I would have to spend to have this fixed, I jumped on Yelp and found MSK Plumbing. I called around 4:00pm (did I mention that today was a holiday and I wasn't expecting anyone to get back to me?) Less than an hour later my message was returned saying that they could be there in about an hour! What? I was floored that they would even come out today let alone so quickly. He was able to work around my schedule in order to come back and complete the job. After replacing the drain (he only charged at cost for the part), we realized that the clog was farther in. What is it about Sundays and plumbing problems? Seriously we can't catch a break. You'd think four bathrooms on three floors is awesome. And normally it is. Until it isn't. Three weeks ago on Sunday the toilet on the main level backed up when the upstairs shower was being used. Water everywhere...but at least contained to the bathroom. Called Dominic, he came out within a few hours, and pumped out the internal house pipes and we were good to go. Today, I looked into the toilet of the basement level and noticed very little water...so I flushed and it tried to fill up too much but stopped. Let hubby know and he went and checked and must have flushed again as a "check" and then it backed up and sewage backed up through the shower in that bathroom. So it was a mainline problem. Called Dominic and he was here within about 2 1/2 hours. The mainline had roots that had been growing in it for years, so he cut through them all the way to the city main trunk line that sits all the way at the back of our property. Dominic is a master craftsman and true professional. He's got the right gear and knows how to fix difficult plumbing issues. I've had to get my main sewer line snaked at least once a year for 5 years and Dominic came around today to clear the line, then he finally scoped the issue with a pipe camera and figured out exactly where a break was, near the sidewalk. He started work and then disappeared. Had screaming fit which made me afraid. I called the police for help afterward. Something is very wrong with this man, some kind of personal problem. We moved to Oaktown about two years ago, and this was our first time needing a plumber. I always check out yelp for reviews, but I never leave any reviews of my own. The service we received from MSK Plumbing was AMAZING and is definitely deserving of my first review! Dominic provided us with A+ service from start to finish. I called on a Saturday and left a message. Within one hour of my call, Dominic had called me back and we had an appointment scheduled for Wednesday (this was NOT an emergency issue, so Wednesday was perfect!). We had a few issues for Dominic to investigate; a decrease in water pressure and a slow leak from the shower head and a laundry tub leak. Within 10min. of his arrival, Dominic had diagnosed the root causes of all of the problems. He was able to fix the shower within 50min. The laundry tub was a complete loss with multiple cracks in the basin (contributing to the leaky situation) and drain. We look forward to working with Dominic again to install our new laundry tub! Between the house and the coffee shop we used to own, and the remodel work we did at both, I have used a LOT of plumbers, electricians, etc. MSK Plumbing/Dominic is at the top of the list. I've used him more than once. He is on time, works quickly, is polite, communicates well about what he will do, what may or may not work, etc. He doesn't try to get you to do work that you don't need to to, but at the same time lets you know about things you can do if something becomes more of a regular problem. This is the second time I have used MSK to work on my sewer line. I had them out a couple of years ago when they were first starting out. They have obviously done very well as you can see from the other reviews on Yelp. Dominic is an honest guy and very professional. He arrived when he said he would. Did a great job unclogging my sewer line. Left my basement nice and neat. I like to encourage small business that do a good job and are honest. You both of these from MSK. I have not written many reviews on Yelp. I guess I'm lazy. I have enjoyed good results when using Yelp, and now I am going to contribute back by leaving reviews for those folks I find here.
