The water heater project was more expensive than we'd expected, but that was because they insisted on doing things to code; they said that if we didn't want to do things to code, we'd have to use someone else. We didn't bother to get alternate bids on the repiping because we knew their work is solid. Jason, the owner, prepared a very detailed bid. We had a number of questions, and he was very good about answering them. The repiping itself took about four days. The work was far less intrusive than we'd initially expected. They replaced our old steel piping, which was giving us a lot of problems, with copper. During the work we questioned why they were putting in single-handle shower valves when we'd had two-handled valves before, and they gave cogent reasons for doing so. Alligator said that their rates are about average, and we believe them. Perhaps we could have gotten the repiping done by another company at a lower cost. But we'd rather contract with people who have already done good work for us and whose work we trust. We've always believed that the most cost-effective option is to go for quality, and Alligator certainly delivered in that regard. Highly recommended!

I had a very easy experience getting an on-site quote. I received 3 quotes for this job. 2 quotes, including this one, came in around $7100. I went with a third one at around $6700 (which included an additional mixing valve) and am very happy with my decision. Overall price was not a big part of my decision, but brand of water heater was. After doing some research online, the most recommended brands are AO Smith and Rheem (GE). Both higher quotes were for Navien, which has only been making heat pump water heaters for 1 year, but I was told that it is the most reliable brand. I did not understand how this claim could be made, given how short the duration of evaluation for this product. Even the worst appliances usually work for at least a year. So I requested a quote for AO Smith or Rheem, which I did not get. I'm not sure why my brand request was not honored, but it made me question whether I should go with a company that either has communication issues or maybe some type of deal with Navien that I was not informed about. Many water heater installers are preferred installers of certain brands, which means they can get better pricing, etc. I did not want to be a guinea pig for Navien.

I recently had a very disappointing experience with Lauren from Harris Water Heaters, and I feel compelled to share my story to warn others. I missed my scheduled appointment due to unforeseen circumstances, and while I understand that companies have policies in place for missed appointments, the way this situation was handled was completely unprofessional and disrespectful. When I called to explain my situation and apologize, I was met with an incredibly rude and dismissive attitude from Lauren. Instead of showing any understanding or willingness to work with me, they immediately charged me a $149 fee without any discussion or empathy. The tone of the conversation was condescending, and I felt like I was being treated as an inconvenience rather than a valued customer. I was having this work done through homeowners insurance, and I had to restart the process and get another technician as they refused to accommodate me for future work. Lauren and this company created extra costs overall, and made this a stressful moment instead of a helpful one. read more

I recommend Harris Water Heaters. My son told me about them and they did an excellent job. Jacob arrived promptly and did the install. After he installed it, he also installed a water-heater bonding to ensure that the entire plumbing system will be electrically grounded. I didn't realize that a water-heater can create a separation in the electrical grounding between the cold and hot water pipes, so I was surprised that after he installed it, this corrected a grounding issue I previously had with my kitchen LED lights which used to flicker. I called the Home Warranty Company yesterday, 23 May 2024 and Harris Water Heaters was assigned the job. They were at my home at 8:30a Friday, 24 May 2024 and Andrew, the plumber who came out was pleasant, had a great demeanor, and professional. He took the time to explain what he was doing and answered all my questions and I felt he was honest with his responses. Our water heater was broken on Saturday, we're so worrying and assumed that we have to wait until Monday. Harris water heaters called me this morning and told me that their technician will come to my house between 1-4pm. Jake came right on time and spend 2 1/2 hours to replace the new water heater for us. Jake was very friendly and very knowledgeable, his professional work attitude is very impressed. I could not possibly be happier with the work Joseph did today. He absolutely went above and beyond to make sure that I was taken care of. He could've very easily done a service on my water heater and ignore the problem with it, but he identified it and worked with Fidelity to change the work order over to a replacement. The last person that was sent here spent only 30 seconds looking at it and told me that there was nothing he could do. I strongly recommend that fidelity. Had a great experience with Jake from Harris Water Heater. Our hot water heater wouldn't stop dripping through the overflow pipe after the T&P valve got old and stuck open. Jake was able to come out the same day with only a few hours notice, fixed the issue in less than 30 minutes, taught me a ton about hot water heaters, and even made some other plumbing recommendations that he saw (including the pressure regulator for the main input into our house being old and the associated risks). Our water heater pilot was not working. We called our warranty company and they sent Harris Water Heaters. From the first service phone call from them I knew this company was going to be good. They kept me informed of the arrival time (which was right on!) and had the parts for the repair on the truck. Brian, the technician, was great. Bryan came by to give me a no-pressure quote on replacing my old water heater, but I found him so knowledgeable, patient and thoughtful it was a no-brainer to ask him to do the full job. He was able to do it right away as he carries the most common units in his work truck. In a couple hours, he did an immaculate job of replacement, including updating some pipe and duct work from what was in place 15+ years ago. The price was just under $2100 to have the water heater installed and brought up to building code. I thought this was steep. I live in a condo and needed to get the leak fixed right away. I didn't want the sheetrock ceiling on the unit below me to become water damaged. Bryan the technician who did the install was outstanding. I don't have enough good things to say about him. When they were scheduling the appointment they were able to find me a same day appointment, as I couldn't turn off my water. Installed with addition of extra tank for pressure relief (which was supposed to be required in our old installed but wasn't done) upgraded and installed some new gas piping and insulation, and earthquakes straps, wood braces, and overall did an amazingly professional job!
