A word to the wise ... ask what the minimum charge is before you commit. I did not do this, and didn't realize until after he showed up that JJ Rooter & Plumbing charge around $485 minimum. I had a simple toilet fill valve that needed to be replaced, and a simple sluggish drain in the kitchen. Once he was at the house, I was quoted almost $1000 for both. (!!!) Seriously? I could get a brand new toilet and have it installed for half that. Needless to say, I declined. I waited to have another very trustworthy plumber come out. Cost to fix both problems? $225! He was shocked when I told him the JJ $1000 quote. My plumber told me how cheap the parts are; he did the work quickly and efficiently; and everything is working great. I'm sure JJ Rooter & Plumbing do good work, and I know costs go up, but charging that much is outrageous. read more

Jorge is such a kind, fair and helpful person. I moved recently and one evening, sewage started coming up through my shower drain as I was washing a load of laundry. I called Jorge the next morning and he came by that morning to evaluate the problem. The sewer was old, cracked and clogged and the lines under the house needed replacement. Jorge gave me a fair estimate and made space for me in his schedule right away. His team worked from morning into the evening to get everything working again, including removing a section of concrete outside to connect to the working portion of the main line. PROS: Jorge did a good job clearing a clogged storm drain in my driveway. He was also responsive with getting me a quote and scheduling a repair. He was very friendly and explained what he was doing every step of the way. CONS: When we talked on the phone, he said the estimate was $385 - $485, but the cost ended up being significantly higher at $685 (originally $785 but he said he'd knock off $100). He said this was because he had to hydrojet two ends of the drain so it counted as two events. I don't know how legit this reasoning is and my main complaint is he didn't mention this cost increase ahead of time. Had I known the cost was $685, I would have shopped around more for other options. Based on this experience, I would recommend reconfirming the price at the start of any job. read more

Review from 5:30 pm - I called on a Saturday morning at 9:30am for a clogged drain as the business is open Saturday 9-5. I was asked to text all my information to the same number that I had called and told that "a technician would call me back to arrange a same day afternoon visit". After waiting all day, I called again at 3pm and got voicemail. I left a message that I was still waiting to hear from someone. It is now 5:30pm and the business is closed. No call. I did call another company at 3pm and they agreed to come tomorrow morning, on a Sunday. I have no idea what the communication problem was, but a no show, no call is a bummer when I can't use my kitchen sink. Edited at 8pm, same day - I finally got a text at 5:37pm telling me that a technician was on the way. Then a phone call around 6pm telling me that they'd be there in 20-30 minutes. When I told the guy on the phone that I had no idea they were coming and no one called or answered their business line he said they just put me on the schedule. The guys showed up at about 6:30, and to their credit, they were great - fixed the problem and were super helpful and patient, especially considering that it was Saturday night and the job they were doing at my house must have been holding them up from going home and their own dinner.
